Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B October 25, 2026

Yesterday I did a 20-minute Peloton strength workout and 20 minutes of restorative yoga. I plan on walking or doing a ride today. I’m up early to get my annual blood work this morning.

Shannon-Great job with the yoga.

Carolyn-Great job with P 30 Perfect Pump Lower Body and the Extended Stretch.

Cathy-Great job with the kickbox workout, walking at the zoo, and LITE Body Weight and Bands.

Valerie-Great job with your long hike.

Good morning. Yesterday I did my PHA-style total body weight routine plus abs. I had some great 80s music going and was singing along. You wouldn’t want to be there, but I had fun, LOL.

Carolyn – Good work with Perfect Pump Lower Body and the stretch. I probably need to do something to keep my head in the wellness game a bit better. I’m starting to experience the weight gain thing that we older ladies have to deal with. Ugh.

Cathy – Glad you’re still here. How long did you walk to get in 16,000 steps? Great job! Transylvania County, huh? I wonder who came up with that name? Yes, we have snakes. They’re not a problem (unless they crawl into my garage), they’re just part of living out here. We have copperheads and water moccasins, plus a variety of nonpoisonous ones – green ribbon snakes, black snakes, king snakes, and some others. I don’t see as many as I used to – more people out here now, chasing the wildlife away. Oh, we have the coral snake, which I’ve never seen, and its nonpoisonous look-alike – a Louisiana something or another (?), which I have seen. Lots and lots of snakes.

Valerie – I’m sorry your back ruined the hike. You are a determined woman to keep going.

Judy – Nice job with your strength and yoga workouts. I hope your blood work comes back nice and normal.

I had an appointment this morning, but I managed to fit in a short cardio workout. I did JS 15 Minute Calorie Burst, 15 minutes, 110 calories burned, average heart rate 121, and maximum heart rate 154.

Cathy, great job with the kickboxing workout and LiTE Body Weights and Bands. Your NC trip sounds like fun.

Valerie, it’s good that you managed a harder hike with rest breaks. I log my food consistently since it’s so easy to do on the app (I’m a list maker so logging works well for me). Some of my food choices aren’t always the best but I keep track of them anyway.

Judy, great job with 20 minutes of Peloton rides and 20 minutes of restorative yoga.

Shannon, great job with your PHA style total body plus abs.

we did the drive back yesterday. in general an easy drive. much better than the last one a month ago. still 11 hrs 45 min is harsh.

i really enjoyed the hike but its just so weird. if anything should hurt my legs from the uphill/downhill but they do fine. i was adjusted to altitude too. but my damn back! i did a few short sit downs using handy logs or boulders. sitting for 30 sec to a minute helped and then i got up and did another section. i am hopeful the hip procedure will help and also explain why this has gotten worse in the last few months.

snakes... there are snakes in MT and weve seen a few. snakes in wA too. i am reasonably cautious but not especially worried about them. there are rattle snakes we have seen but you're right, as long as they are not in my garage or my crawl space i am fine with their presence. weve had way more issues with mice!.

carolyn you're right about the program. its not hard to follow. my weight has been stable for a long time with only minor ups and downs so i eased off on how much i record. i still eat the same things. i didnt take reaching goal weight as a license to go crazy. i eat the same way, same foods, same quantities. i actually like the foods i need to eat. i'm slightly more generous with olive oil but i stuck with what works for me without a lot of agonizing.

Quick check in. I’m at a hotel near Columbus, doing the zoo tomorrow And then driving on home.

Shannon the 16,000 steps was from the zoo. we were there 5 hours, but the walking pace was all over the place, since we stopped so often.

Apparently it’s one of the times of year when they warn everyone about copperheads in NC. the zoo had signs all along the walkways, since they apparently like to watm up on the paths.
