Good Morning,

Happy Middle of Labor Day Weekend! The dog trials are going well..only one more to work at today and then we are done and I can have some "down time".

Hope you are all enjoying the last official weekend of summer! :D

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did Physique 57 full body workout (57 min.) with sil. She agrees, the legwork on this is brutal. It was nice to have someone to groan with.

Beautiful weather here. Big family dinner last night at another sil, bil, and tonight we are hosting a cookout. Even simple cooking is hard when there are so many people to serve and so many dishes. We are having hummus, tzatsiki, pita bread and olives for hors d'oeuvres and good old French onion dip with Utz potato chips for the kids. Then it's sausages and burgers, soupy salad (a tradition in DH's family) that has a ton of chopped tomatoes, celery, onion, and mayo, with plenty of salt and pepper, mac and cheese, haricots verts, and for dessert I made Ina Garten's chocolate pudding cake, which is pure heaven, with vanilla ice cream.

Hope everyone is enjoying summer's last gasp! (Actually, I would be surprised if we did not get some Indian summer.)

howdy all, well i started my week today w/ disc32, plyo legs. this week is gonna be really hard. wk. 3 meso 3. 90% of 1rm. i am already scared. the weights look pretty daunting to me. hope i can do it. i really want to lose a few lbs. after STS. can't seem to keep my cardio up enough while i'm doin it. so, gonna try and find a rotaiton that will help me get some of this around my middle off. been looking thru cathe's. any suggestions? well, we are watching an old movie on TCM, so gonna go for now.

i certainly hope it is summer's last gasp!!!! it was 98 today.

Happy Labor Day!

Good Morning!

Well it's the final weekend of summer. It is supposed to be beautiful weather here today. I am going to my brothers for dinner around 4:00. Hoep to get a workout in today, still not settled on what to do.

Garance, have you lost inches or weight doing Physique 57? Your menu sounds wonderful!:)

Cathy, I can't help you with a rotation, as you can see how messed up I am right now.. There are so many to choose from in the Rotation forum. I get confused when I go there...maybe do what Josie and Garance did, circuits for a while.

Waving Hi to Josie & Joan

Have a good day!

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Amy Bento's Cardio Kickbox Surge, the premix without the surges (63 min.)

Everything went well yesterday evening with the food, and we had a gorgeous sunset to look at in our big addition with all the windows. Today is what they call "filtered sunshine" and I call just plain cloudy. Can't complain, though, because at least it's not raining.

Deb, I wish I had measured myself before starting these Physique 57 workouts, but I finally did yesterday, and I am pretty certain I am down an inch on my waist from 29 inches to 28 inches. I haven't measured my hips and thighs in so long I don't know if they are any smaller. I will now keep track.

Cathy, do you like to do step? Do you have any of Cathe's all step workouts? When I was doing STS, I would pull out an old Cathe like Rhythmic Step, a Kickbox by Kelly C-M, and a walking dvd with Leslie to alternate on my cardio days. I also liked Gay Gasper's All-Out Infused Step.

How's your mom, Joan? Still feeling pretty positive about surgery?

Hi to Josie!

Hi everyone,

Sunday's wo was disc 27 from meso 3. I'm hoping to try to get something in everyday this week. Who knows what it will be like later.

We visited mil in care center( she doesn't want to call it a nursing home) today. It's a 2 hr drive one way. She has disliked the last 3 roommates they have given her. Not that I blame her. All of them have been out of it and eventually died or gone to hospital. There is a nice lady she would like to room with. I asked why she didn't want to room with her. Neither one wants to leave their room to move in with the other. They would rather complain?

Elliot goes to get her regular flu shot tomorrow. I thought it was a little early but there are already cases of flu here.

Joan

Tuesday

Good Morning!

Today I did a 30 minute I-Tread followed by STS Meso 2 shoulders. Total time was 53 minutes, 346 calories burned. I think I like this set up, with 30 minutes of cardio followed by one body part.

Garance, are you still getting DOMS from the workouts? Do you feel longer and leaner?

Joan, your MIL sounds like my MIL. She is in this beautiful assisted living place, where the food is like a 5 star restaurant, and all she does is complain about it. I think it is because they are really limited to what they can do so they have to do something. She told DH that they had filet the other night and it wasn't that great...filet??? Poor Elliot, having to get a shot..

Weather held out yesterday, however I put down new mulch and didn;t water it because it looked like rain..now I have to get it wet before it blows all over the place...

Hi to Josie and Cathy!

Hi Ladies,

I'm glad everyone had a good time. The only day that I did not wo was Sunday, I decided to be a couch potato. I will be working out with Kevin today.

Cathy, do some plands for your ab wo. It has worked for me, my stomach is flater and I can see the tone has improved 100%.

Garance, I just gained 5 pound from reading your menu.

Joan, poor Elliot, my GS's are going to be getting their shots soon.

Deb, I'm glad that you are back at working out.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the 30 min. Physique 57 workout for arms and abs, followed by 2 miles with Leslie for another 30 min. including the cooldown.

Deb, I did get my Essential-C cream today. Thanks so much--I put your check in the mail on Saturday. I love that stuff. I don't feel like I have a dancer's body yet (Hah!), but I am still paying the price for those legs in doms again today. I'm so glad you are working out again. I was beginning to worry. DO YOU WANT US TO YELL AT YOU?

Josie, you are absolutely right about that menu--very fat-laden, but very pleasing for everyone. I think I will weigh myself in a few days and see if it all disappears.

Joan, how funny about your mil. Now she will probably get stuck with yet another roommate she doesn't like. But, as Deb says, then she will have something to fuss about and that will sustain her.

Cathy, just curious--is this the third time you have done STS?

woo hoo!!! disc 31 done. here are my weights:

flat bench 54 (56)
bb row 63 (66)
flat flys 25
1 arm row 35
incline bench pr. 52
deads 63 (66)
incline flys 23
horiz. row 30

however, i'm a bit dissappointed cuz i went down in the bench press bb row, deads. not sure why, but that is what was on my workout manager. should have looked at the printout of the first time and gone w/those wts. the numbers in the parenthesis' are my first time around. but, i can feel it, so it was a good workout.

you read my mind, garance, i did the firm's UCB yesterday. love those tall box climbs. so, i remember when i got the transfirmer set in summer 2005, my legs got really toned. so, think i'm gonna go w/that for sure, and then add from there. gotta work on getting this middle roll gone!!!! and, no, this is the 2nd time. gonna take a few months off before doing it again. really tired.

yay deb, now we know who you are:)

and now, i remember that garance is linda, but was it with a y?

Hi everyone,

I only got a short walking tape in today but at least it was something.

We have 1 hr doctor's appt Thursday and a 2 hr appt Friday. The operation is Wed the 16th.

Joan

Hump Day

Good Morning all,

I did a 30 minute I-Tread plus STS triceps from Meso 2 Week 1. 335 calories burned. I must have been retaining a lot of water because I am 2 1/4 pounds down from yesterday.

Josie, do you do your own plank workout, or some formal type?

Garance, I love the Essential C too. It is the one thing I really think helped my skin. Yes, please YELL AT ME when I turn into a slug! I bet those workouts are leaning you out.

Cathy, good job on the weights!

Joan, you are right, you did something and it's is good. You have a lot going on right now. I will keep your Mom in my prayers.

Have a good one...

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the cardio and upper body premix on Drill Max (60 min.).

Deb, that's 2 days in a row for you on your new plan. KEEP IT UP! I think the Essential-C stuff refines the texture of the skin somehow and Murad says it also works on "environmental damage" which I think is his term for age spots.

Cathy, those are impressive weights!! I am waiting for my tower to get here to start STS again. But I did it the first time for 6 mos, doubling every workout.

Joan, it sounds like you have your hands full being the best daughter you can be. I will keep your mother in my prayers. I will be having my third colonoscopy on Sept. 21. My mom had colon cancer, so even though I have never had a precancerous polyp, I have to them every 5 years. Never fun, but important "maintenance."

Hi to Josie!

Back to my writing about Hughes's poems concerning his mistress Assia Wevill with illustrations by Leonard Baskin.

Hi Ladies,

I may not be able to wo today. I have to take Astro to the vet and don't know how long I will be there.

Deb, you night know what is going on with my dog. He has had a skin problem for a while.
He has been on anti-biotics 3 times and it seems to work for a while, but then the skin problem always comes back. The Vet said that it is not mange, but I don't know? The problem is only on his hind legs. Any suggestions? Regarding the planks, it is part of my wo with Kevin.

Joan, I will continue to pray for you DM, and any wo is better than nothing.

Cathy and Garance, you are some strong ladies!

Josie

Hi everyone,

It looks like the power tower is going to be shipped next week.

I think I will start STS again Monday the 14th. I think I need that kind of rotation to keep me going.

Today was Lowmax.

Joan

Thursday

Good morning,

I was very tired this morning when the alarm went off so I did not get up. I did weigh myself and am down another pound and a half. I am sure this is all water weight.

Keegan started a new agility class last night and he was not a good dog..all he wanted to do was play with the other dogs. He was so distracted, that my "homework" is getting him to focus and pay attention...how embarrasing!

Garance, as much as colonoscopies are a pain, they are so important. One of the best preventative procedures that you can do.

Josie, it sounds like Astro has some type of allergy. What happens is the skin does become infected, so antibiotics work to get rid of it, but they always come back. Kelsey has been through every test, and I used to give her allergy shots every 2 weeks. We then started her on Atopica, a very good ( very expensive:confused:) medication for environmental allergies in dogs and it works. She hardly ever gets a break out. Once in a while she does and we have to put her on an anti-biotic for a short period.

Joan, thanks for the update on the Tower...I'll have to go looking for the info...I didn't get an e-mail or anything...Good for you for getting a workout in! Better than me today..

Cathy, what are you up to today?

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the Physique 57 Express workout (30 min.), plus Timesaver 1 (38 min.). I think I should have done the Timesaver workout first, because my legs felt like rubber from the Physique 57 workout when I was doing the step in Timesaver.

It feels way too autumnal here! The temp was 42 degrees this morning. BRRRR! It's only going up to the 60s today and tomorrow. Bring on Indian Summer!

I flipped back and forth between the auditions for SYTYCD and Obama's healthcare talk last night. A lot of tap dancers last night. A lot of Republicans sitting on their hands. The Republicans should learn how to tap dance IMO.

Deb, I had a dog who was an alpha male and obedience class was IMPOSSIBLE! Marley and Me reminded me of this experience, because finally the teacher told me Paddy was too disruptive because other male dogs wanted to rumble with him. Paddy just seemed to attract attacks. He was not neutered, and by the time I was given him by a friend who didn't want to see him put down, neutering just didn't seem like a good idea--or at least that is what the local vet told me. He was one of the smartest, most protective-of-me dogs I ever owned.

Thanks for the news about the towers, Joan. I usually get an e-mail from Cathe.com when there is news about an item I have ordered. Where was this tidbit of info??
