Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 9/28

Hi Everyone,

I did Cathe Live this morning. It was Cardio Boxing with a stability ball ab workout at the end. I added the 100 rep challenges from XTrain too.
Tomorrow I am getting a massage and probably making it a rest day. Hopefully DH and I will get some biking in on Saturday and Sunday.

Valerie-I hope your cat is ok. It does sound like he may have crystals. I hope you get good news from the vet.

Deb-oops, I meant Kylee is a very pretty girl. Great job on doing Muscle Up so early!

Lori- There is so much on Suzanne Bowen's site! I decided to go for the 6 month membership. That way I can use the site this winter and decide if it's worth the membership or if I just want to get some of her DVDs. I have a feeling it's going to be a long winter so I will need all of the workouts I can get..
I also broke down and ordered more Horizontal Conditioning DVDs. I will end up with 2 of the "Getting Started" DVDs so if anyone wants 1 let me know and I will send it to you.

Lynda-that coat is beautiful! That is a very nice line of clothes. There is an Eileen Fisher store in Troy, about 25 miles from here. I might have to check it out sometime.

Josie-working at the ALC ride sounds like fun! It will be a nice change from actually doing the ride.

Good morning,

so tired last night, I went to bed at 8:45, slept until 4:40, still tired.

Valerie, hope all goes well with the kitty, and it's something like a UTI that can be treated. They have dry prescription food for urinary issues. if your DH has been doing CoreMax for years, he should welcome the change and challenge of HC. Make sure you get the "Get Started" (it's something like that) DVD. I know, the picture turned out huge! You only get 2 choices, thumbnail or full size.

Lynda, the coat is so chic! Yes, Kylee is a little imp, and she loves to play. Actually, this first trip to DC is on Monday, back on Thursday, and it is the next Sunday I am going back. So for this weekend, I should be able to watch the show on line maybe Monday before I go to DC. The following week I will try to watch Sunday night, I land around 6:50 pm, and as long as I am not sidelined by one of my peers, ( hopefully they are all out to dinner by the time I get to the hotel ).

Josie, ALC volunteering sounds great!

Judy, Chino and Shadow are beautiful! So elegant! :). Cats always look elegant to me. So is Suzanne Bowen site membership all streaming? I need to go peek over there.

Work, and agility class tonight,

Have a great day!

What lovely kitties! I am such a cat lover. Judy, I 'd be interested in the HC disk. it would be a good way to test out whether I like the instructor. Let me know how much you want for it

It was a busy day yesterday. I picked up Puss at 5. he seems to be feeling better. they treat for a UTI and I will get labs back today. hopefully that's all it is. cats tend to not drink enough water but I've never been able to get him interested in any soft food, not even fresh chicken or the expensive little cans of gourmet kitty food. he drinks water ... our third cat that prefers the toilet bowl... and always have a water bowl by his food. he's a little guy and only weighs 8.5 lbs. the antibiotic he got is injected so no struggles with "pilling" a kitty for a week.

I agree Lynda, a lovely coat. I haven't owned a winter coat in 50 years! I have several goretex hooded jackets and that's as much as ( and as dressed up) as I ever need.

Good morning ladies!

I 'll be back later tonight just wanted to add a picture of Chester chilling while I was sweating through Cathe's Live Cardio Boxing from yesterday. I liked the stability ball abs she included. Thought of you Judy while I was working my abs! Was a great workout and awesome to have Amanda in the crowd. Love that we can add pictures! On this side of my workout area is my heavy bag. Basement is L shaped so the other end is my main workout area.

Love the pic of Chester!

Valerie, you have to be the only one that has not posted a picture of your kitty, or anything for that matter. It's a lot easier now. You don't need to use outside software, as long as you can resize it.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Flextrain (56:36) and took Max for a 3 mile walk yesterday afternoon. The foliage is beautiful right now. Just a blaze of color, so I really enjoyed my walk.

I think I could get a month free of Bowen's streaming according to the text on the back of her dvds, so maybe I will try that.

Love the pics! I agree, Deb, cats always look elegant. Sorry, Lori, but Chester looks not elegant, and Keegan a bit tipsy. "Cats rule, dogs drool." Don't tell Max I said that.

Judy, all of the pieces I have from Eileen Fisher are very classic, some very old. usually I wait until the end of a season to buy, when she has sales, because her clothes are $$$. I did pick up a harem pants jumpsuit and a tank to go with it for half price this August. I know I will wear it a lot because it is so comfortable. Not sure, but I think most of her stuff is made in the USA too.

Valerie, Puss is lucky to have such a vigilant owner.

Have a great weekend everyone! I will let you know what I think of Gone Girl.

tee hee no chester does not look elegant! and neither do your guys Deb... so darling and cute but not elegant!. Lynda, that is hilarious (Cats rule, dogs drool"). I LOVE it.

I will try to get on it with pics but I have none on my computer as I don't have any sort of photo program. good to know it's easier now.

Puss seems better today after an antibiotic injection, but still haven't heard back on labs. animals are so good at concealing that they are feeling poorly or hurting. we noticed something shortly after we got back from our trip .... I use clumping kitty litter and am used to what size the "pee balls" are. suddenly the balls were tiny, and lots of tracks thru the 3 litter boxes without much pee. but otherwise he was acting normal. so he didn't have the problem long. but this was an expensive event and I don't want him to get recurrences so need more info.

we rode this morning. shorter than usual but enough. about 15 miles. yoga yesterday.

Good evening ladies!

No workout this morning. Had an early morning Drs appt so needed to leave earlier than normal. Tonight was Suzanne Bowen Barre. Ended up doing about 45 minutes.

Judy...I love that she has a mixture of advanced and intermediate. Also that some are long and some are short and quick. I usually select 2 or 3 of the shorter ones to get a good workout. At work I like to do Upper Lower Compound Target with 4lb weights and also Advanced Quick Hiit. Both together are about 30 minutes. A great little workout. Your kitties are adorable!!!! Love them.

Lynda.... Ha ha ha yes elegant is not a word I would ever use to describe Chester! Love the coat. You will get many years of enjoyment out of it. Especially where we live. Good to know the length of Gone Girl. I am looking forward to Maze Runner tomorrow as I read the trilogy.

Josie... I just can't imagine having winter coats and never really wearing them. Someday I hope to experience this.

Deb....omg!!! Your doggies are adorable. I had a collie that passed a couple of years ago and he had the most sweetest expressions through his eyes. They remind me of him. Soooo cute!!!

Valerie....glad to hear Puss seems to be better. I hear you on the vet bills. Boy did we spend some money this year on our dogs. But you got to do it. You are another that does not have a winter coat. So hard for me to fathom this!!! Last winter we had to shovel snow off our roof!!!!! Oh life in New England!

House max, errands and movie tomorrow. Hiking with DS on Sunday!

Yes....Lynda about the free month. That is what I did and decided to continue. Out of all the instructors I tried out when I was first starting barre I liked Suzanne and Cathe the best.

Puss is fine, it was a UTI. I am so relieved. no crystals or stones. He is much better today, and he really wasn't bad, but I didn't want to let it get to that point of being "bad". He is such a little sweetie. probably got a little dehydrated for no good reason.

I never bought a "winter coat" after I left Wisconsin in 1968. winter here is usually 40 and drizzling so a warm coat ( at least by my criteria) isn't needed. when we are in the mountains, hiking, or skiing, we have warmer stuff, but jackets, down or synthetic, with hoods. not a fashion statement. layers work better here. and that's as dressed up as I ever need to be.

Lori & Deb-Love the photos! Chester looks like a sweetheart and Keegan is so cute with the antlers!

Valerie- So glad that Puss is better and didn't have crystals.

Good morning, & Happy Weekend.

I skipped agility class last night, was just too tired to go back out again.

Lynda, LOL about Keegan looking tipsy, it's those darned antlers...pushing his ears and hair back and also his eyes. I was lucky he kept them on for 20 seconds to let me snap the picture. Max would be heartbroken if he thought you liked cats better! :). How do you like that Suzanne Bowen DVD? I saw something in the paper about a movie just coming out (?) of one of Lawrence Block's Matt Scudder series? " A Walk Among the Tombstones".. staring Liam Neison (sp?) did you ever read any of those books? It's a great series and definitely has to be read in order to get the most out of it.

Valerie, glad to hear that Puss' test results were just an infection, no crystals etc. Winter coats are not my favorite piece of clothing, but they are a fact of life here. I bought a nice storm type coat ( Eddie Bauer) last year with a big hood that has fur around it...as I get older, I can't take the cold much.

Lori, those premixes sound interesting, so she uses weights with the barre work?

Hi to Josie & Judy,

Off to do some HOuseMax, then to class,

Have a great weekend!

thanks for all your kind words about Puss... he is such a sweetheart! I'm so relieved it was easily fixable. Deb 20 seconds of misery for a great pic... you can just tell the antlers are going to go in off in an instant.

we go to cold places, and here it gets cold in the mountains and in eastern WA so I own winter gear but nothing fashionable. we hike, ski, ride in the winter, and warm clothes are definitely needed but it's REI & Patagonia rather than Eileen Fisher. and it's way better to layer things so you can adjust.
It's funny but it's heat that has become intolerable to me. Even 80 degrees is hard to handle. I can't imagine going to a tropical place for any reason anymore..... I sometimes think Kauai but our first trip (big island) was difficult and I'm not confidant about repeating the experience. we want to go to Yellowstone this winter for a week. Now THAT can be cold. Last time we went it was -20 for 2 days but most of the time much milder. we try for milder temps because you can't do much at -20! but making a reservation ahead you don't always get what you hope for.
