Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 8/15

Valerie,

PM your e-mail address and I will send you the workout sheets that you can use to record your weights...I think I have all of them.

Good morning,

Another morning with no workout. I had planned to do KCM's weight workout but you know what they say about the best plans..

Valerie, see above. I have workout sheets for probably all of Cathe workouts. I would e-mail customer servie on the defective DVD.

Joan, I feel terrible for those people and your poor DH. How is your arm/shoulder? ARe you still going to do a CTX rotation?

Garance, what do you do with all the books you buy? I hate having books all over the house. When we do have them, we donate to the library so they can use in their yearly book sales.

A beautiful day today, right now it is cool and low humidity. This has been a great summer so far.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did 4 Fast Miles with Leslie (58 min.).

Deb, I sell back most of the books at Amazon that are non-academic or that I am sure I will never read again. I am very careful to remove the dust jackets and then very careful with the books so that I can sell them back.

I agree--this has been a glorious summer. Looking forward to Jacob's Pillow again this Saturday. The Goteborg Ballet Company doing 3 different choreographers' interpretations of Ravel's Bolero. The weather sounds like it will be perfect. Now, if only they could do something about the seats in the Ted Shawn theater--it feels like you just sink endlessly into them. With my elbow last time, it was really hard getting up, but I am better now.

So we have a mouse. DH keeps complaining that I don't put out his fish oil capsule, when I know that I DO. So I teased him last night, pointing out that there it was and maybe a critter was stealing them. Sure enough. He set up the motion-sensor camera and a mouse came and stole it. It's actually kind of funny because we knew there was a mouse and DH kept setting up a trap with peanut butter in it, but it kept gnawing on our plums and ignored the peanut butter altogether. But a fish oil capsule?? So tonight he is setting up the trap with a fish oil capsule. I'll let you know what happens.

Good afternoon all...

Back from a 35 mile bike ride. DH is working at least half a day every day this week so we squeezed in the ride this morning. Nobody fell over today, whoopee! getting organized for our backpack next week. probably mon, tues, wed.

Thanks for the help Deb. I sent an email to cs to see if I can get a replacement of the DVD. Funny, I never used the ME workout though I used bootcamp quite a few times. Never could get ME to play and for some reason never followed up. this time the disk behaved badly and first played before pushing 'play", then didn't want to play at all. Finally got it to work so I thought I'd best do the ME workout as I might not ever see it again.

I can't brag about our summer. it's been crummy for growing things. seem to swing from very cool and cloudy/rainy to too blasted hot to do anything but sit in front of the AC. picked 4 of the most pathetic, tiny tomatoes yesterday and not many more coming. made some pesto since it looks like the basil is finally growing after sitting dormant in the dirt for 2 months. I had a row of beans do that also. suddenly sprouted last week after sitting in the dirt for a month +. ate our first ears of corn yesterday... taste good but they're minature!

Too funny, a mouse going after fish oil? I've always used peanut butter. Our current kitty is not much of a hunter. he was playing with a baby rabbit 2 days ago like it was another kitty. Our previous cat was a total hunter-killer. we used to worry he'd go after something too big to handle but he always won the contest.

Deb, thank you, I got the workouts but I can't get anything to print. do you know what program I need ? DH has different software on his system, so I can try there too but I don't have a spreadsheet program. I don't think he does either. all I'm getting to print is empty boxes.

Can't wait to hear about the mouse. I think my cat would just play with it.

Deb I took 2 days off. When abs hurt I thought good I haven't been using them enough. When lower back was sore I knew that was what I had been working. The right shoulder and elbow were kind of scarey because I hadn't had that same kind of pain before.

I did do Steps & intervals which is the chest. My shoulder is sore. I used lighter weight and didn't finish all exercises. But tomorrow is legs so I hope it is ok.

If I can figure out weights, (may go even lighter) this will be a wonderful fill in wo. Everything but legs is only 10-15 minutes if you don't do step.

Joan

TGIF!!

Good morning all,

No workout today, another slug morning. I must need sleep or something.

Garance, LOL about the mouse that wants to make sure he has his Omega 3's! :D. We always use peanut butter. Where is this happening? on the kitchen counter?

Valerie, I love the ME workout and have done it so many times, I like the shorter total body pre-mix. I hope they give you a replacement. The workout sheets are in Excel. What programs do you have? I might be able to convert them to Word. Tell me which workouts you would want the sheets for.

Joan, I think CTX is the right thing for you! Don't you like it when you find a rotation or workout that just seems to "fit" for what you are looking for at that time? Just be careful with the weight load. I really think you would like KCM's 30 minutes to Fitness workouts. She has weight ones and a lot of other stuff. Here is a link to her site: www.coffeyfit.com.

Our dog club is putting on an agility demo at the annual Scottish festival tomorrow. I am debating on whether I want to take Keegan to the demo. He has never done agility outside, so I am not sure how he would do. He may be distracted by all the smells and the other dogs.

Take care,

Thank you Deb, I got the second one to print.. except the title. will have to look back and see which one it is.
I have the GS series, MM, power hour, muscle endurance. I also have bootcamp, kick max, butts & guts but I don't think weight selection is that big a factor in the latter ones. . I have a high step one too, but I forget which. haven't used it in a while.
I never got ME to run before. could not get the up/down arrows to work and suddenly it started so I just went with it. bootcamp had started by itself too. I loaded the disk in while watching something on TV and when I moved to the DVD it was well into Bootcamp, not at the opening menu. Hope I can get a replacement but haven't heard yet. Took me at least 15 minutes of dinking around. once it started I didn't want to even use pause, thinking it might reset back to the beginning or stop entirely.

Not sure about today, another overall type disk, Muscle Max or Drillmax. we plan on cycling tomorrow, taking sunday off, and starting our backpack monday. 3 day trip, probably 30 miles or so. we'll walk in sunday. packs are heavy, its uphill, that's the hard day. tuesday we'll roam around the area with minimum stuff to carry. wed hike out. mostly downhill with lighter packs. we haven't decided if we'll drive the camper and stay in sunday night near the trailhead, or just leave early monday am and drive a small car. It's 2.5-3 hr drive from here.

If all went well, the well nourished health- conscious mouse is toast! Sure there's only one?

Hi Deb, Josie (where are you?), Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Ellen Barrett's Barefoot Cardio (48 min.).

Mousy did not show up last night. DH has always used peanut butter in the past, but it was not working, so he thought he would seed the trap with what we knew (from surveillance photo) he was absconding with. Yep, it's the countertop.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Step N Motion is replacing my Bootcamp/ME disk. they can't find my order... it must have been around 2005? my order history with Cathe is strong so they'll replace it. I honestly don't remember where I got it. DH got me several as gifts, and this might have been one of those. I'm pleased... nice of CS to tweak the rules just a tad to keep a good customer happy. I know I wasn't aware of the replacement policy way back when.

I won't be back until thursday. Everyone have a great weekend.

Good morning,

HouseMax for me today. I decided not to take Keegan to the Scottish Festival agility demo that our club is doing today. Too much to do around here, and once you get to one of those things, you are stuck all day.

Valerie, that is really great that CS will replace that DVD. Especially since they can't find your order. That is the kind of thing that keeps customers coming back. Have fun on your trip.

Garance, you must have a very smart mouse.

Hi to Joan, Josie, & Cathy,

Deb

Good morning,

Didn't get to leaner legs yesterday so will try today. Yesterday morning I drove ds to get vasectomy. Two is enough for them. Then last night went to hospital to see niece and her new son. My Christmas table will need to be bigger.

Storms went through just as we got home, even tornado warning. We didn't get that much wind but the lightning was constant.

Joan

joan, where do you live? wish we could get some storms. it is hot and dry here. been 100 all week. and joan, speaking of logging on the w/o calendar (in the other thread), i usually log my work at the clinic as walking on a grass track. i do alot of walking and i clean stalls, bath horses, haul manure to dump. do you think that is a good way to log it? i do walk on grass alot and some on asphalt. thought this might be a good way to log my work.

well, it is good to be able to sit down and have time to post. been a very busy week. and i worked 5 hrs. at the clinic yesterday and did allie's maximum calorie burn.
according to my pedometer i logged 24,000 steps at work & 8 miles. no wondr i was tired.

and , for whoever asked, i had fun w/the grands. nicola (5 yr old g/daughter) and i rode for awhile in the morning and owen (3 yr. old grandson) and papa had their day of haircut, park and dairy queen. LOL! owen loves his day with papa. then we napped & played in the big water trough, and then we took them home that evening. and now, i am working the rest of the weekend and monday afternoon. so, i am gonna take a nap in a bit. i am wore out.
