Pentagenarians & Beyond W/B 7/27

Hi girls!

REALLY a quickie check-in for me, as I am running like a crazy person today.

Garance, I had to chuckle at the "sports plaques, trophies... baseball cards" -- our house is crammed with sports awards and memorabilia, and MY every-now-and-then thought turns to my sons' massive collection of pristine Beanie Babies. Guess we missed our window on those puppies, huh? :p

Carol, talk about all grown up -- Nik is such a young lady now! The college search-and-apply years (junior and senior) just seemed to fly by, and I just cannot believe my own Alex is a SENIOR in college. It is the weirdest thought to imagine myself the mother of a grown man!!!

My workouts this week have definitely drifted to the afternoon and evenings, too, because my days seem to be nonstop from the minute I put my feet on the floor. This afternoon (shortly) I plan to do CTX/4DS Chest and Tris plus 30 - 45 minutes of cardio. So far this week, cardio-wise, I've done 4DS Kickbox, 4DS LIS and CTX Step & Intervals. I'm thinking that I should do something a little higher intensity -- I'm not sure what yet, but I'll let y'all know what I do.

Eating today has been ultra-clean, thank you very much. I am mucho proud of myself!!! :D

Garance, I'm definitely not hardcore! :) I'm just trying to work as hard as I can to lose weight and bodyfat, and of course build back some nice muscles!! I'm really looking forward to STS!!

lala, I do a full kettlebell workout (30 to 45 minutes) once a week, since they're strength, cardio and HIIT rolled into one. I'm still very much a kb beginner, but I really love them!!

Kathy, it's hard to believe Alex is a senior in college!!! It doesn't seem all that long ago he was going away to school. Has it really been that long since I've hung out here??? :( Wow. Nicole is checking out all sorts of schools right here in Tennessee, and we're going to Harding near Little Rock Arkansas on Labor Day to spend the day there. Did you even know we moved from Ohio? We moved two years ago as a relocation for my job. We like it here, but sometimes we still miss the snow! LOL!! Nicole was finished with her freshman year when we moved, and it was really hard for her at first, but overall this has been so GOOD for all three of us, and I really believe it was meant to be. So many good things have come out of this move.

I just finished Providence, which is a 45 minute kettlebell workout. WHEW!!! This one always kicks my butt, and I have yet to keep up with yummy Anthony the entire way through. One day ... :)

Happy Saturday!

Good Afternoon!

Sorry I did not get back yesterday, but I did go back just now and read all of Friday’s posts… I got back from having my car serviced and inspected, now have to go pick up the Fosamax ( bone junk I have to take), at the drugstore, then off to Dad’s to take him to dinner.

Who is Momma Deb?

Your HIIT circuit sounds hard! Do you have the KB workout with Lauren?

Garance:
You will be having a busy weekend girl!

I am very envious of your clean eating!…hangs head in shame…

Hi to Linny, Josie, & Rhonda

Good morning!! I'm getting ready to do my circuit. Had to eat first - LOL!! I woke up STARVING!!! I posted this on my blog as well, but I wanted to share my ten weeks results:

I didn't do caliper measurements today because I'm doing those every four weeks. Two weeks ago at 8 weeks I had lost 4% bodyfat.

My scale weight is down 12.5 pounds, which is 1.25 pounds a week on average.

My measurements are down as follows:

*Neck: (didn't start measuring until the end of four weeks) down 1.5 inches
*Shoulder girth: (measured first at end of four weeks) down 5 inches

All others I've measured since day one:
*Left arm below delt muscle: down 1.2 inch
*Bust across largest part: down 2.5 inches
*Chest under breasts: down 2.5 inches
*Waist: down 3.5 inches
*Abs halfway between waist and hips: down 4 inches
*Hips: down 2.5 inches
*Left upper thigh: down 1.5 inches

Total inches lost so far in 10 weeks: 23.5!!!

I've been following Precision Nutrition. I'm UBER HAPPY with this program!!!!

Here's my circuit I made up. I will be attempting to go through this twice today. Bear in mind I am TERRIBLE at on my toes push-ups, but I'm working hard to get better at those. I cannot yet do an unassisted pull-up or chin-up, but I am determined to do those one day as well.

Running (on my rebounder to protect my knees) 30 seconds
Step touch for 60 seconds
Plyos/Jacks for 30 seconds
Walking in place for 60 seconds
Kettlebell swings (two handed) 30 seconds
Step touch for 60 seconds
Push ups on my toes only - I can do five right now
Plank for 30 seconds
Walking for 60 seconds
Try one unassisted pull-up
Kettlebell cleans - 30 seconds each arm
Step touch for 60 seconds
Try one unassisted chin-up
Kettlebell snatches - 30 seconds each arm
Walking for 60 seconds
Burpees for 30 seconds
Roman Chair leg raises - I can do 10 right now

DEB: I don't have Lauren's workout, but it's on my list of kettlebell must-haves!!!

Another beautiful day in WI! I did an outdoor itread with Grace today. It was my first itread (I have done iclimbs and the swimming). It was a good walk.

Deb, thanks for the encouragement. I do have to remind myself to take it easy. How long before you were back to your workouts after surgery?

Kathy, my DS graduated from college this past May and now I have a working son! I was SOOOO glad and grateful when he got his job :D

Carol, I see you used to live in Ohio. Me too, in a suburb of Cleveland and graduated from OSU. I´ll be 52 in October! Don´t feel it...well maybe a little ;).

Mimulus

Hello EVERYONE (How we have suddenly grown!)--

So today is my day off. I did my cleaning and then I was off to Jacob's Pillow for Mimulus. Wow! Great fun. A Brazilian troupe with tons of moves from tango, salsa, samba (!!!!), and even Lindy-hop. What fascinated me was the concentration on the butt and the women's hair in the choreography. They did a piece called Dolores based on Almodovar films.

So, the final soccer season at Gettysburg I was on sabbatical, Kathy, and DH and I went to all of the games. It was so much fun. We'd fly into Philly or Baltimore and go to the matches. My son Nick was INCREDIBLE!!!!! Won a game on penalty kicks (against Johns Hopkins, for heaven's sake) by catching 2 of them. His team tumbled all over him at the end. I miss going to my sons' sports things---I really do. I never thought I would, because I am NOT an athlete ( I would bring a book or knitting to all of the practices when they were little), but I turned into a totally devoted soccer and wrestling mom. And basketball and track. Enough on the brag. I am so totally with you on loving and enjoying my sons. They keep telling me I would have not enjoyed girls (even though I grew up with three older sisters and a widowed Mom.). Anyway, that's my empty-nest syndrome.

Carol, I am just starting kettlebell. Scares me a bit after only one workout--major DOMS.

Lala, wow, just take care of yourself. Surgery is always a big deal on the tummy. Count me in for multiple under-the-knife episodes here--caesareans, appendectomy, etc.

Love you, Deb, Linny!!!

I am off for pesto.

I grew up in Cleveland!!!! We lived in North Ridgeville before we moved down here. I went to Kent State. What a small world!!! :) :)

Hi girls!

Sorry I was AWOL yesterday, but I had the most wonderful excuse.;) My DH is out of town and Alex (big brother) is backpacking with some friends, so it's just been Evan and me and our pooch Eddie for a few days. Ev's been home very little, as he and his pals are in the last few weeks of the never-ending goodbyes and goodbye parties, movies, get-togethers, etc. But yesterday he was home, and about lunchtime (just as I was about to go do my w/o) he said "Hey Mom, let's you and me go hang out at the pool and chill, wanna do that?" First time I'd had this offer ALL summer! So we lotioned up and we spent the next three hours floating around on rafts in the pool and hanging out on our lounge chairs, of all things, looking at Rachael Ray's magazine and recipes. Lately both of my boys have taken an interest in cooking (YAY! ) and Ev was just fascinated by Rachael's creativity. What an AWESOME afternoon it was!:D

We timed it perfectly, too, because around 3:30 it began to cloud up and we had one of our typical summer afternoon thunderstorms. Evan left to go to a concert and dinner with friends, and Eddie and I headed up to workout. Yesterday I did a hodge podge of stuff that just felt interesting -- KickMax leg conditioning drills, a couple of abs segments from CTX, 4DS Chest and Shoulders (to finish up my goal this week of doing both CTX UB split and 4DS UB split), a little elliptical time with my iPod, a long stretch -- fun fun fun!

Deb (fox2star), Momma Deb is DebbieH here on the forums, and in real life she's Debbie Hollingshead from Uniontown, Ohio and one of my BFF. She, Lorrayne Schaefer from San Diego (another BFF) and I are Cathe's "Road Trip Coordinators". Momma Deb earned that nickname because she is legendary around here for NEVER forgetting anyone's birthday, anniversary, sick child, injury -- you name it, she is on top of it and has a phenomenal memory for what all of us post here. I love this gal to pieces!!!! :)

Carol, you know, I DID know you had moved to Tennessee but I think I'd forgotten! So glad to hear that it's been a good move for you three, especially for Nik because wow, moving in high school is TOUGH!! Enjoy the college search -- it really is a lot of fun! And WOW, girl, WAY TO GO on that weight loss and fitness program of yours!!! You're doing fantastic!!!! :D

Garance, I loved your soccer story -- some time I'l have to share a couple of mine, as Alex was a big-time soccer dude in high school and we do have some tales!

Eddie's barking to go out -- I should dash before he leaves me a "gift" at the backdoor. ;) Then off to do KickMax and take Evan shopping for his college computer, woohoo!!!

Have a great one, girls!!!!!

Thanks so much for the welcome and the encouragment, everyone!! :D

This morning was Gym Style Legs. I do great with this until we get to the SLOW lunges. YIKES!!!! I'm usually totally fried after that.
