Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 7/25

Lynda, hope you have a good outcome. a lot of people do a large muscle tear of the rotator cuff when they extend their arm when they fall, which is what I was thinking. so if one had to choose, maybe you had a better outcome, though hard to see facing surgery as good in any way.
my brother fell on ice a few years ago and never had effective surgery for a rotator cuff tear. he's had a bunch of procedures but is basically disabled. his muscle rolled up like a window shade and could not get re-extended decently. couple years later he fell off a ladder and tore up the RC on the other shoulder. eventually he may need to a shoulder replacement.

So, no more falling down and do all your therapy! we will hold you accountable.

sorry guys, i will just stop starting these threads and look harder for one. i really do look, i just don't see it.

ok, traildoggie, yes i have osme cathe's. STS, 4-day split, butts & gutts, imax 2 & 3, cardio fusion, drill max, pwer hour, and the ohter 2 on that dvd, but it tends to stick really bad, so i don't use it often. and i have some i hav erecorded off fitv, but i don't use those very much either. i like cathe, but i don't do her much, cuz if i do it kills my feet. i don't remember my feet hurting till after i started doing cathe. but, i really love STS and am trying to figure out when i'm gonna do it again. i have done it 2x and only took a month off in between and got pretty burned out towards the end of the second go round.

Friday

Good morning,

No workout again, we had a sort of family reunion last night and I am really tired. Not sure why my cousing wanted to have that on a Thursday instead of a weekend, but hey, it was her party. I am not used to being out late on a week night.

What is up for the weekend? any exciting plans?

Deb

wow Deb, a party on a thursday night? Does she work weekends? I DH and I go to bed between 7:30 and 8 most nights. from age or habit, we've both lost the ability to "sleep in" after a late night. we wake up at 4:00 regardless so we're always the first to leave. I feel like cr@p the next day without enough sleep.

I did the first plyo leg disk yesterday. Tough. I reduce the intensity of some of the jumps, like tuck jumps, and didn't increase weight. I use 15's for most, and 8's for a few. for some reason I was able to do the sit-n-stands that I couldn't do before. I sat on a bench instead of a chair and zipped right thru them. I have no idea why they seemed like no biggie this time.

Cathy, I've been rotating thru STS almost 4 times ( didn't complete the first 2)... think it's time to do something else but I don't want to backslide on my strength gains. I've gotten used to a different workout every disk. My feet are the one part that seldom get sore. probably will just rotate in some other cathe disks. I have quite a few I rarely use since I started STS.

wow! 4am, you get up at 4am? i am so impressed. it seems the older i get the harder is is for me to get up , but i stay up later than i used to, mainly cuz my hubby is a nite owl, so i stay up with him kinda late when he is home. i mean late to me is 11 -11:30. i used to get up early, well, not 4, that is really early, but, life seems to be changing for soem reason.

i did STS last summer and it was just too hot. i mean i have AC, but last summer was so bad down here. we had over 100' almost the whole summer and no rain. it has not been bad this summer. we just got a lovely rain again on wednesday and eveything is green and pretty, which is unusual for down here. but, i love it. and, it is not so hot when you walk outside that you feel like you're walking into an oven.
anyway, sorry to gab. i decided to take yesterday and today off cuz i've been so tired, so , tomorrow i am starting my august rotation, cuz sundayy is gonna be busy.
so, if i don't get back here, see ya'll next week. and, i promise i will not start a duplicate thread. :)

i havent' worked out the last 2 days. i have been just so tired and i am gearing up for the august rotation. so, i'm jsut resting. well, resting is relative around here w/g/kids, horse, chores and all that. but, anyway not working out. and then, wehn i don't workout, i feel like a slug. it is so hard for me to take off .i am so OCD.

Hi Ladies,

I did not work out yesterday. When I got home I just could not get myself motivated to do it. Tomorrow we have a funeral to go to at 11:00 so I plan to go spinning at 8:00 AM.
Sunday I plan on going for a short run on the sand in Venice Beach and breakfast after that with a friend.

Valerie, one of my friends lent me a bike trainer where I practiced clipping and unclipping for several hours, but I still fell a few times. All of the experienced bikers told me that it is normal to fall at the beginning and even they fall once in a while.

Garance, at least you put your arm up. The 2 falls that I had tripping on the curve were terrible, I did not have time to put my arms up and fell flat on my face. I hope that you can get back to your usual self soon.

Deb, I can't stay up late anymore. My DH and I and a few friends are going out tonight for dinner and dancing at a club in Long Beach. They serve Spanish tapas and they supposedly have a great DJ. I asked my DH whose bright idea was to go out on Friday! Fridays is my crash day. I just want to have dinner and go to bed.

Hi Cathy and Joan! Have a great weekend everyone!

Josie

Good evening all,

Yesterday was babysitting for about 4 hours. I didn't have a phone at their house and Luke cried for 2 1/2 hours straight. Between colic and his mother really doesn't have him take a bottle only breast feeding. What was she thinking? I told her I would only babysit Elliot until Luke was able to take a bottle. I am too old to listen to him cry for hours. It's not really any worse than when I was young but I've already put my time in.

I thought I was so smart and found a cheaper version of elevator and now I got the bid. It is as much as the elevator.

I have decided to go back to lifting on Aug 1 but I am almost afraid to because I am losing so well with just cardio.

Saturday is our 39th wedding anniversary. I guess we'll do something.

Garance Glad you're not in too much pain. I know you will do well with pt because you are so faithful with exercise.

Joan

Hi all.

I thought I posted this morning but guess I was too wrapped up in getting to agility class etc. After that DH, my cousin and I took my uncle ( he is here from Floriday) to lunch and to the Herschell Carrousel museum, where they have all the old horses made and the carving shop etc. We also rode the carrousel..fun!

Garance, I hope you are not in too much pain, I bet you can't wait for the surgery to be over so you can start therapy and be on the mend.

Cathy, what are you doing for your August rotation? Firm or Cathe?

Joan, will you be getting the elevator installed?

Josie, I think after 40 your body clock is set to go to bed by 9:00!

Valerie, No, my cousin does not work weekends, she kind of free lances doing house closings for different attorneys, so she can make her own schedule..I think I will remember to use a different method when doing the sit and stands next time. I think the chair I used was way too low. I would love to go to bed by 8:00 but DH gets upset because by the time we get home from work, eat, clean up, make lunches, there is no time for us to just relax.

Tomorow I will start the Kelley Coffey-Myer workouts again. I pre-ordered her new ones, and she shipped them by mail Friday so maybe I'll get them before going to California. Most likely not though...

Have a great day!

Monday

On lunch, somehow did not get a chance to get here this morning..

I got my new KCM DVD's today!!! Yay! can't wait to try one tomorrow.

Garance, if you are reading here, good luck with the surgery tomorrow!!
