Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 7/24

Deb , so thrilling to be getting a new puppy. How do they have you introduce the newbie to keegan? do you just toss them in a room together or need to keep them separated for a while?

Joan, hope you can conclude on what's right for you. If you decided to wait 6 mon or a yr and then revisit this, would you need all the testing repeated etc? It doesn't sound like there's a rush to get this done, so that's what I meant by "watchful waiting".... getting rechecks with gastro and making sure you keep a close eye on any new symptoms. Are you happy with this doctor and would have her do the procedure if you decide to go ahead? not necessarily right now, but in the future? A good sign that she took the time to explain things and didn't try to rush you thru the process.

Had an interesting experience yesterday. Was driving our (fairly) new truck to the dealer for service. I was behind an old truck on the freeway, filled with moving stuff ... mattresses, furniture etc. I don't like driving behind things like that so moved left to go past. just as I was "even" with this truck there was an loud explosion, a cloud of dust & the guy swerving left and right... I have seen tire blow outs before but never was that close! wow, it was amazingly loud... fortunately he didn't lose control and pulled off to the shoulder.

traildoggie, you are MORE than welcome to send us your clouds, drizzle, & rain. we are burning up down here!!!!!
hi all, sorry to be so absent. way toooo busy right now.

Hi Deb, Joan, and Valerie--

This morning I did Zumba Cardio Party (47 min.).

Deb, have you decided on a name yet? I know you haven't read The Hunger Games, but the heroine is named Katniss. Just thought I would throw that one in because it's so distinctive and the heroine is wonderful. Keegan is probably going to be very jealous until he figures out that he has a new playmate.

Joan, I sure hope you had a book with you. That sounds like a grueling ordeal. What I really don't like is when multiple people ask you the SAME questions over and over and over. I'm not sure what I would do in your situation.

Valerie, that is scary. I would have really been rattled.

Have a great weekend, everyone! I am off to Jacob's Pillow tomorrow.

Good morning!

It's the weekend and I am loving it! Agility class this morning, then HouseMax, and probably errands etc. We will be picking up the puppy next Saturday, then I have the week off.

Valerie, That was really scary about the truck and the blow out! Thank goodness he was able to get out of the way. As for the puppy, we will just bring her home and let Keegan investigate, etc. He is pretty dog friendly, so I don't think he will mind at first. Once she starts to get used to being here though, and is taking his rawhides, or getting attention that he is used to getting, that is when the trouble may start. I hope not though. I think he will discover he has a play buddy and that will be the good part of having her for him. It's great that you can leave your cat at home, they are a lot more independent and with using a litter box, pretty self sufficient. I can't even leave the bird alone, he needs someone to come in each day and make sure he has water etc. I pay a person to come in while we are gone.

Garance, haven't read The Hunger Games, but have read a lot of reviews, and people who say they didn't think they would like it, end up not being able to put it down. I have it on my " books to get" list. I'll get it from the library, of course. I hope they have it in E-Book format. Have fun at Jacob's Pillow!

Cathy, too funny, those pics have been here for months! It must have been a setting on your PC. Did you pre-order the new series?

Off for more coffee so I can wake up!

Did LBB yesterday. I can do the whole thing, a couple brief breaks during the floor work but nothing substantial. on your hands & knees, leg lifted up behind you, and little pulses. Argh. wow. hard to keep a leg up that long! but I'm better than at first.

Deb, I don't like leaving the cat alone but it's better than the kennel. I consider getting another cat so he'd have company but cats are not always as congenial as dogs. some yes, some no. oh, probably the same with dogs. I don't want 2 cats who don't get along.

yep Cathy, that's what we've all been seeing all along. computers sometimes mystify me.seems like things change even if you didn't do anything, or don't when you do!..

the blow out thing was over so quickly ... fortunately the driver held onto things. it could have been ugly if he'd swerved left, I had no where to go. I never drive right next to anyone if possible but for the few seconds I was passing, no other way to do it. I hate being behind people who may not have secured their loads well enough with possible junk flying out.

Lynda, enjoy Jacob's Pillow. It sounds nice, but I forgot what it was.

Joan, hope you can resolve this thing. I'd worry both ways, doing something about it or not doing anything. a difficult choice.
