Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 7/19

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I got a 2 mile run in and it felt really good. I think if I keep the runs short I can start running regularly again. The weather has been so nice the past few days and the forecast for next week looks pretty good too.
DH's cousin is coming into town this weekend, so we'll be busy doing things with her. It's her first time here so we can do some site seeing and show her around.

Valerie-I love those deli chickens too! I take all the meat off and put it into little containers. It lasts several days.

Lori-DH has had to have some dental work recently and most of it was out of pocket too. It seems like the insurance only covers routine cleaning and basics, not really the more significant work. That's a cool story about KC!

Judy every year we try to predict what dental bills are likely to be and decide if insurance is even worth it. unfortunately DH has balsa wood teeth... a dominant family trait... so it's better for us to pay for insurance even if it's expensive and doesn't cover much. still saves us money. if you have insurance, the price from the dentist is automatically discounted downward by maybe 50%. so even if you end up paying 50% of THAT number , it's 50% of a smaller number. makes no sense. people without insurance...who can LEAST afford it... get nailed for so much more. It's so unfair.

I did Flex Train again. I didn't do the whole thing last time, but didn't realize I cut so much out of it by doing a pre mix. anyway, this time I did the whole thing, went easy on weight. if cathe used 8's I used 5's etc.. if 5's felt iffy, I raised it with both hands or went lower on the right arm. . I did a few real toe pushups. subbed knee pushups a few times . probably about 10 toe push ups spread out in different sections. Didn't hurt, but I don't want to over do. did 2 of the burpees. did all the fire walkers and really, everything else. just didn't throw on all the pushups. all in all, got a decent workout and didn't baby myself that much. Nothing hurt although I expect some overall DOMS tomorrow or monday.

Judy, that is the thing. Don't push it too much too fast. don't try to run 5 days a week just like I won't try to do 40 pushups next week.
