Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 7/17

I cannot send the dog food back. I always remove it from the bag and put it in a large food been with a lock down lid. I threw the bag away. That purchase was from Amazon. I always check the use by date when I buy the dog food to make sure I am not purchasing old stuff. I used to frequent a pet store that I trusted when we lived in another town and when food was near a ate the put stickers on it and dropped the price. I thought it was nice that they let you know that. I have never seen Pets Mart or Petco do that. Sometimes it is more economical to buy from Amazon and not have that extra stop at a store. I am rethinking that after reading reviews. Most are pretty positive though. If I see a food with multiple complaints it goes on my no way list.
I figured out why I was not seeing my Ice workouts on the workout manager calendar. Today I cleared my cache and I got it to work right. That is after I spent awhile trying to figure out what my log in was:)

Valerie, you husbands parents sound interesting. My family always jokes about my food and wondering if I am trying to kill them with sticks and twigs or some healthy thing. But, they generally eat my stuff and like it. My husband is not one to eat healthy. He admits he would rather not know if I put something different in his food. His new diet has been pretty much low carb except for watermelon, peas, and green beans. But, he has lost over 20# so far and my grandson lost 15# for their challenge. My husband misses McDonalds and mentions it every time he sees their add on television. When I was young there were so many orange groves. We would go to the place where they were harvested and pick up crates of oranges. There used to be loads of fruit and vegetable stands along the side of the road.

Lynda, I noticed that with Cathe. I have to go lighter on some days that I would normally go. I doubt Trumps wife wrote her own speech. That is generally not the case.

back from our ride 2.5 hours. I took a tumble toward the end. there's a section on big irregular rocks and I must have hit one wrong and crashed. will get a big bruise on my shin and elbow. I really try to stay upright....

what a hoot!!..the speech comparison! how incredibly sloppy to set his wife up like that, if that's what happened. almost seems intentional. or else maybe whoever wrote the speech for her didn't know what plagiarism is! at any rate, it is a sad state of affairs that no one fact checked something like that. but then the trump campaign doesn't seem to be able to tell fact from fiction anyway.

diane sue, I always try to fix something I think everyone will like. I don't pull out the weirdest dishes for company, especially family. I'd do lasagna, ravioli, salad, garlic bread ...things most people like and are familiar with. congrats to your DH and grandson for their weight loss campaign. Lots of the orange groves are gone because of the water shortages. people could not afford to grow them.

ETA too funny...." kill them with sticks and twigs"! I get people looking at me funny because they think I'm going to slip them tofu or something "toxic" like that. I try to keep controversy about dinner out of the picture, but you would not think a lettuce or cabbage salad would not arouse the suspicion it does. Eating at BIL's one time, he was busy chopping up broccoli, carrots, zucchini and I innocently asked, "what are you making for dinner?". he looked at me really funny and said it was " food for their tortoises!". (they are licensed to have several by the state of CA.) we had something that was not as good. so much for that.

Good evening ladies,

This morning the rotation called for cardio of choice and I was all set to do Live Ice low impact but was on line this morning reading 2 Lazy for the Gym and she reviewed a Pop Sugar workout called Burn 300 Calories in 30 Minutes. I was intrigued so I did it and liked it a lot. I did not burn 300 calories but did burn 210 so that was pretty good. I followed up with X10 cardio blast. No warmup and did a quick stretch at the end.

Diane Sue...I do the same thing with the dog and cat food. Open bag and pour in a specific bin I have for them. I have never used the workout manager. I tried to years ago but didn't like it for some reason or another. Worth takimg a peek at again. Awesome your husband and his son have lost weight. My husband was doing really good until he was in between jobs. I am trying to encourage him to get motivated again. I can see why your shoulders were worked. I have not done that Muscle Melt Down yet. I feel like with all the workouts I do I really work my shoulders consistantly so this MMD is never a choice. I should at least try it though.

Valerie...oh no! Hope you are ok. I can see how it probably happened so fast. I agree that someone should have been checking her speech. Really do not understand how this happened.

Lynda...sounds like you had the storm that went through where I worked. This morning watching the news it was pretty bad in some towns. Trees down and so messy. Nothing in my town. We were dry as a bone yesterday. Yes information is always changing. I too need to decrease weights at times too when doing Cathe workouts.

Deb...SB is a lot harder that she looks. Specially wearing the ankle weights and I usualy go a little heavier with the dumbells. I like her streaming way more than her dvd's although her last dvd had a couple of great sections that I liked. Her workouts last year or so have been really great on her site. She is very calming in the morning too. Which I like. I ended up buying the tower. I know can't believe I did either. The dvd's look like they will be too easy for me so I will not keep these. I am hoping I can pack it up and bring when we go to our time share to the Cape. Would love to bring a barre with me. Also thinking it will be good for pull ups. The main reason I bought it is because I love barre and did not want to be sorry when Cathe starts to come out with more workouts using it. So we will see if it was a good purchase for me.

Hi to Judy, Josie and Caitlin!

Valerie, I make a different type of dish a lot of the time even though most of the meal is what everyone would eat. Usually it will be a different type of salad like recently I made a big broccoli salad with bacon and dried cranberries in it. I still had the usual green salad. There is a Brussels sprout salad that I have made quite a few times that a lot of them will eat from Tony Horton's Bring it book that has Brussels Sprouts, almonds, and dried cranberries in it. There are a few adventurous people in the family. Plus if I make up something like a pot of spaghetti, I cook up some spaghetti squash or soba noodles. Anyone can try it and if they do not want it I have plenty left for me later. I just put it out as an option. When we have a burger and chips cook out I make up bowls of crab dip and black bean hummus and put out veggie slices too. It sometimes is surprising how fast some of it goes. But, I still get teased because I talk about food and nutrition a lot. I understand that the almonds use a lot of water and there is an problem with growing them in California as well. There is a lot more use though with almond milk's popularity.
The thing is who would remember every word that Michelle Obama said that long ago to bring that up is my thought. I am sure it was a bit humiliating. Do you ever try putting arnica gel on when you know you are going to get a bruise. I bruise so easily I would look a mess.

Lori, I never burn as many calories as workouts claim. If it says it is a 1000 calorie workout I am usually 400-500 calories. around 200 is what I usually get with a tough 30 minute cardio. I like putting the workouts in the workout manager and to see what the calorie burn is given there. I also keep my weight and body fat in it. I never have taken the before and after pictures. I am not even sure where they are saved to anymore. The tower with the workouts is really more than I want to spend. I wouldn't mind having it though. That was my grandson that lost the weight with my husband. He is 18. My son, his Dad , is working on weight loss too but as support for my grandson but not as part of the challenge.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Live Compound Giant Sets....a great Live workout. Then had a meeting with the owns of the new facility we are thinking of moving our trials to...a big decision for the club to make.

Diane Sue, yes those cooling mats work....lots of my friends have them for inside crates at dog shows. Great that you figured out what was wrong with the workout manager. There is a site that rates all dog foods, I will see if I can find it. If I did not have to make food because of Keegan's bladder issues, I am not sure how I would pick a commercial food. Have you looked into any of the raw diet information? I know a lot of people swear by it. Good for your husband and grandson for sticking with that challenge.

Valerie, hope you are not too bruised from that fall. I get sick when I see someone putting multiple spoons of sugar in coffee...yuk! Yes, that is surprising that people in California would not like fruits and vegetables....were they originally from there? LOL on the food for the tortoises that you thought was going to be your dinner...:)

Lynda, oh how I wish we would get a downpour like you had. Yesterday I did not feel good, have been having some stomach upsets the last few day....I stopped the cherry juice, in case that is what is causing it. It seems like every time I eat, my stomach "rebels".

Lori, Cathe did say that this new tower was easier to break down, and it can be stored under a bed. for some reason I thought you had the old tower. Maybe that was Judy.

Here is a link to the local airport program with SPCA: https://www.facebook.com/pawsforlovespcaservingeriecounty/

Hi to Judy, Josie & Caitlin,

Maybe a track workout, then agility class tonight....

Take care.

diane sue that is correct on almonds taking a lot of water. they are a more profitable crop to grow, though so oranges are less widespread now. and of course the urban sprawl took out a lot of smaller farms. .
DH's family ate some things..they had an orange tree in their yard along with an apricot and a peach. so they ate in season. Selling parents hous last year, one of the hardest things was letting go of that orange tree. it spoiled DH though, because commercially grown stuff does not compare to tree ripened fruit, especially when you can run to your back yard for some. but vegies.. oh my. maybe it was a little age related too, because my mother, like DH's and people of their generation, overcooked vegetables to absolute mush. boil for 10 minutes and then give it 10 more to be sure. salad was iceberg with French dressing. etc. whatever, DH doesn't like spicy food, seafood, or mayo . so we compromise with me adding hot sauce and red peppers to my serving. he eats most vegies too. No one else is adventurous at all though, and I always go conservative with them. not people who will enjoy anything exotic! a brussel sprout salad would not go over well.
Deb, the first time I saw his mother 'fix" her coffee I was stunned. DH said she would "need some sugar" so I got out the 5 lb bag. she started scooping and scooping and scooping until I thought the spoon would stand up in the liquid. it was good for a big laugh. really, so much sugar at first I thought it was a joke! but then she drank it. I dislike sweetened coffee but this was beyond ridiculous.
I have a few sore points from my crash yesterday but we will do a road ride anyway. I banged my elbow on the outside edge and mostly there is no discomfort, but in a certain position it's unpleasant. BIL/SIL have a special license to keep the tortoises. they are big, like almost basketball size so it was a big pile of vegies being chopped up. it would have been better than what we ended up having!

I didn't expect to crash so no way I could plan ahead. I got smacked pretty hard but no bruising yet. probably on my shin in a few days.

I think calorie burn is mostly not accurate. I tried with the WW program and another one, and it seemed things were either way high or way low. I pay more attention to the total time and how hard I think I worked. our elliptical and spin bike have calorie burn and I don't even look at it anymore.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did CLB with MM shoulders (63:38).

Deb, sorry about your tummy issues. Do you have a new president of your dog club? Or is this a decision for all members to make? We just use the food recommended by Max's breeders from Tractor Supply. He seems to thrive on it and no issues with vomiting or stools unless he digs up something like a groundhog he has surreptitiously buried earlier and decides to eat it.

Valerie that sounds like a nasty fall. I bruise very easily. My friend in San Diego has an orange tree in her backyard and those oranges were definitely some of the best I have ever tasted. I did not like many veggies growing up either because they were so over cooked and yep, it was always iceberg lettuce and either bottled French dressing or Russian dressing if we were living dangerously! Hah! Meat was always over cooked too.

Lori, I think those storms were very hit or miss. I am really glad we did get 1/2 an inch of rain, even if it came all at once. Much needed for second cut hay.

Diane Sue, I know Melania did not write the speech, but that just underscores the incompetence of The Donald's hired staff, always being described as "the greatest!" We do the same thing with Max's food--put it in a big rolling bin that is water and airtight. I still think Kim could get a refund from Tractor Supply because it's a local business and he is such a regular customer.

Today I did Urban Rebounding Extreme Metabolic Training Amy Bento Kickbox Intervals, 53 minutes, heart rate 124 avg. /154 max, 370 calories. I have always loved this workout. She has a nice stretch at the end and the abs are good. I did have a hard time with the bear crawl move off of the side of the rebounder. Not so hard going out but, getting back up to a standing position was tough. I used 2# sand weights for the cardio and 3# sand weights for the abs. I then did Boot camp Circuit blizzard blast, 12 minutes, 70 calories, Ice Muscle Meltdown Back, 21 minutes, 99 calories, and finished off STS weights and plates abs 19 minutes, 83 calories. 1 hr 46 minutes, 622 calories.
Muscle Meltdown Back 12 reps per exercise
3 rounds of 5 exercises
one arm row 30#
pullover 20's # 40# total the first set I used a Bow flex select tech but decided the two dumbbells was better.
one arm wide row 25# , 35#, 35#
Deadlift 30's#

Deb, I swear I commented on your post earlier from my tablet. I don't see it though. I had read on Amazon reviews that there is someplace that rates dog foods and will tell how many times they have had recalls as well. Gertie seems to look forward to eating this new food. That has not happened in a long time.

Valerie, I do not like sweetened tea or coffee. My sister in law used to pour so much sugar into her iced tea that you could see it was about 1/3 sugar. We used to tell her she was drinking syrup. My son in law does the same thing with diet sweetener. He will grab a dozen and put them in his coffee or tea. It seems like it would be gross. Then you see these same people who have health issues and are taking meds for it.

Lynda, when we used to live where one of our daughters lives which is a smaller community I bought dog food from the a store in town that was feed and grain, as well as a café, saddles and some gift shop stuff. I think they finally went out of business though. I still make the drive there for the vet because I like and trust the vet there. The vet was right next to the feed and grain plus store.
Things have changed there because a Tractor Supply went in on the edge of that City which is really in Oklahoma City. They also put an Ace Hardware in the smaller City owned by a local family.

Back from a shortened ride. my elbow didn't like it. so advil and a wrist brace for 48 hrs.. I think it's more or less a bruise ...but right on the epicondyle. couple days off needed. every time I engage any muscles connected to it, it's painful. could not shift, brake, or even hang onto the handlebar right. no visible bruising anywhere and the legs are OK.

I don't know if my MIL drank tea but she likely did the same thing. she liked coke and pepsi too. I love coffee flavor and aroma and won't touch it if it's been sweetened. sweeteners ruin it for me. even frappachinos DH likes seem too sweet for more than a sip.

My mother used to over sweeten vegetables, especially winter squash and sweet potatoes. I was an adult before I realized that they taste good if you don't sweeten them. she used to put sugar on corn, carrots and peas too.

the orange tree they had was an older style navel orange, the ones without the extremely thick skin. they never did anything to it but pick the fruit. pruning... there were long thorns that made it difficult and challenging.

The old grocery store building where I used to shop has been vacant for years. I saw a sign that a Tractor supply store was going in there. First time I ever heard of the company but sounds like they are a big chain. Glad a business is taking over as it's become a draw for homeless people.
yep...dogs. just when you think they're almost human.... they go dine on a fermented dead groundhog! Our dog used to stick his face into cow manure, the greener and more liquidy , the better.

Good evening ladies,

Today was my rest day.

Diane Sue...oh yes you did say your grandson lostbthe weight along with your husband. I did before and after pictures only once when I did P90x. What a difference! Of course they were for my viewing only. Would never have shared the before picture with anyone. The men and women that do are so brave! The tower was a lot more than I wanted to spend but they allowed monthly payments of $42 so that made it affordable. Even though it still is the same price I did not feel like I am spending that amount! That urban rebounding workout sounds great!

Deb...I never did buy the old tower. I was late to the game to STS and it was long gone by the time I got involved. I joined this group right about when Xtrain was coming out and I had just finished P90X. Then I think I did STS with Lynda after, as I was now really hooked on weights. I had always been a cardio girl! I have since given my squat rack and barbell to my son. Too much stress on my shoulders. I believe Cathe will use the tower in other ways other than for barbell workouts so hoping this will be a good fitness investment for me. Also, hoping it is quick to put together so I can throw in car for our Cape vacations! . Judy does have the tower that I think she bought on Craig's list. I believenshe boit the mew one too. Think what she has was missing something? Awww Paws for Love. So very sweet. Thanks for the link. Hope your meeting was successful

Valerie...take care of that elbow! Hoping it feels better soon after a while in the brace. Boy that is a lot of sugar! I stay away from as much sugar as possible. Coffee is black, ice tea is black..even when baking I always cut the sugar. We have a tractor supply store that opened up a couple of years ago and thought the same thing...odd that there would be a need. But I guess they sell a lot more than tractors!

Lynda...still no streaming? :(

Hi to Judy, Josie and Caitlin!

Valerie, there was a time when I liked iced coffee drinks that were sweet and I would make coffee protein smoothies with sweet fat free coffee mate. I cannot stand the stuff anymore. If I go to my daughter's for Sunday brunch and there is only sweetened creamer, I do without. I drink tea black all of the time. I am taking my own coconut milk or organic half and half this weekend. I do not like sweet vegetable dishes. I love things like squash and sweet potatoes with stuff like rosemary and some garlic and pepper. It enhances the sweet and is just right. I will probably take my own coffee as well. I do not care for stuff like Maxwell house. To me some coffees taste like stale coffee beans that have been roasted till they were burnt. I buy Chameleon Cold Brew Mocha coffee a lot. It is expensive and has no sugar. I love it. It is concentrated so you mix half and half with water. I considered taking that with me. I am mean though, I don't want to share. It is sort of a treat. I have made my own cold brew but it takes an incredible amount of coffee. I grind the beans and use filtered water when I do. We had a mandarin orange tree once. It was an odd variety that was rather sour. Much like a lime. It had thorns that were about 1 1/2 inches long. My husband was always hitting his head on it when he would go out the gate and trimming was difficult. He finally took it out and had concrete poured to make a long driveway for our fifth wheel that we had. "
I wonder why it is that sometimes it can feel bruised when you injure yourself but never actually turns black and blue? I have done that and the only thing I could think of is it must be bruised internally. I hit my leg once when I fell off a ladder and it raised into a bump that went down and hurt for a long time but never turned color. Sorry that you had to end your ride.

Lorie, I love the URX-MT workouts. I never thought that a person could get much of a workout out of a rebounder till I bought those with my rebounder. Two of them are Amy 's.. I have my favorites but they are all good. I went back later and bought a Greg Cook one that had been made later that is good and he has you off and on the rebounder with dumbbells and a pull up bar. I have posted pictures on my profiles before but only after workouts. It would be a better way of seeing where the improvements are. Much better than critiquing oneself in the mirror. The thing I always worried about was having the family see the pictures. I took some off my Beach Body page from when I was in a challenge group. . I have my nephew's wife that is the beach body coach. I also always worried that somehow they would end up somewhere I did not want them. Then again I think there would be no reason for someone to want them. I even took vacation pictures off my face book where I was dressed in workout clothes doing yoga poses on the rocks by the ocean in Jamaica. My husband thought they were cute and couldn't see why I took them off. I think it does take a lot of bravery to post those pictures with so much showing. But, seeing the improvement is great motivation. That tower sounds nice since it breaks down and I understand the payment thing. It makes it feel better than pulling out a large amount all at once.

Good morning,

Yesterday I just walked 2 miles on the track with my cousin, no jogging. It was nice, we got to talk...she is still pretty upset about her Dad.

Valerie, do you think you need to get an x-ray of your elbow? I like Tractor Supply. We don't get there frequently but I like walking around there.......yes, a chain I believe.

Lynda, the Vice President ( VEEP)...has to take the president's position, according to our by-laws...she did and I was surprised, she does not seem like the type that can handle the turmoil. She did a good job at the meeting last night. Eating a groundhog? Ugh....DOGS! Like Valerie said, we think of them as human, until they do something like that. LOL.

Diane Sue, good that Gertie seems to like the new food...which did you decide on? I am surprised with all the things you make from scratch, that you have not tried making Gerties food yourself. Homemade dog food can be good, but it has to be supplemented with vitamins and minerals or it is worse to use than some of the commercial brands...I agree with you on posting any workout pics on social media etc, I would also wonder if someone would use in a negative way....that is how things are now a days.

Lori, I also hope that Cathe starts making DVD's for the Tower..have not used mine in a long time. I may just order the most advanced DVD from the group that comes with the new tower..or maybe the second level and 3rd...decisions decisions....I am the same as you...no milk or sugar in coffee or any tea...even iced....I like it unsweetened.

Hi to Judy, Josie & Caitlin,

Meeting my friend from work for lunch, not sure what else today will bring...

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Monday I did a 90 minute Spinerval, Tuesday I did a short full body weight workout that I found on Bodybuilding.com and yesterday I did KCM's Cardio Blast 2 (Plyo). It's really hot here, we have a heat advisory for today and tomorrow. The ragweed pollen is out, a little early this year, and my allergies have started up again. I've been taking benadryl at night so I can get some rest.

Deb-That's nice that you walked with your cousin. I'm sure that talking about her dad helps. I'm going to start training for a 5K. The race is the first of Oct. so I will have plenty of time. I'm going to use the Couch to 5 K app that I have on my phone to get started. I haven't ran much the past couple of years so I want to start slow and not get injured.

Valerie-it's great that you are able to ride outside year round. Some people try to do that around here, using the fat tire bike and extreme cold weather gear. We've thought about renting fat bikes just for something to do in the winter. They are pretty expensive, and we don't have a lot of space to store them, so probably not something we would want to purchase. We do have some cold weather riding gear so hopefully we be able to get some rides in up until the bad winter weather hits. I hope the brace helps your elbow. I agree with Deb-maybe you should get an x-ray and make sure everything is ok.

Lori-That's great that you ordered the tower! I bet you will like it. Yes, I found one on Craig's List 2 years ago. It didn't have the clips for holding a barbell. I've been able to use it for barre and the pullups-chinups in STS, but not much else. I'm planning on doing STS again in January and I hope it will be even better with the new tower. It looks like Cathe will be using the tower in ways that don't involve a barbell in her new DVDs so I think we will be able to get a lot of use out of it.

Diane Sue-I never use sugar or sweetened creamers in my coffee either. I will use half & half or just drink it black. Great workout combos as usual! I've printed out a couple of your workout combos to try. I'm not sure I will even be able to get through them!

Lynda-I agree about information constantly changing-one article says you need to lift heavy with low reps and another says you can lift light with high reps. I do think Cathe has the right idea, with using the right weight for you and changing the weight if necessary. I also like the SB approach of using light weight and higher reps. I think combining both gives great results.

Hi to Josie & Caitlin!

I probably won't be able to post again until Sunday or Monday, so have a great weekend!

Judy

Judy, the law of diminishing returns might apply to actually buying extreme fat tire bikes. expensive and limited use. people ride them on sandy beaches too. DH and I tried that with our bikes, right along the waterline where it's firmest, and it didn't work...at all! total failure. some cross country ski places rent balloon tire bikes here. I think they're limited to groomed trails. we have xc skis and snowshoes. not sure I really want to bike in snow. Our temps are usually mild enough so we can ride without extreme gear and clothes. wind block tights are nice because you can wear them for cycling, hiking, or xc skiing so lots of uses. I use most of the clothing all year round, just put on an extra layer or two in winter.

Deb, there are benefits to being married to a doctor.... he looked at my elbow, says rest it and wear a brace for a few days. we already have the braces as we've both had epicondylitis many times, just usually not so abruptly. it's a lot better today already but taking another day off and doing garden work. it's my left hand so not that big an interference. it's a wrist immobilizing brace that keeps you from torqueing your wrist and pulling on the elbow area. lets it rest. that plus advil. I think by tomorrow it will be good enough to ride again. never got a bruise at all.

My appreciation for squash, and sweet potatoes changed as soon as I realized they were sweet to begin with and are enhanced with spices like chili powder and cumin. or a dab of butter and salt. every time I see sweet potato/marshmallow thing .... I KNOW all of us don't taste things the same way. winter squash on tostados, soup, main dish casseroles is one of my favorite vegies.

I love Starbucks coffee. I've been buying it since it was a tiny storefront in downtown seattle at the pike place market. one little store. wow, talk about successful marketing. a starbucks everywhere now. I know many people think it tastes burned but I love it. always have. makes most other coffee taste green and unroasted to me. mostly I like it black or skim milk latte. I don't care for sweet drinks of any kind. not even juice.

Hi e everyone--

This morning I did ICE Sweat 2 with MM back (49:03).

Lori, the tech guy is coming next Wednesday and if he can figure out what is keeping me from streaming Cathe, then I will try it again. Right now it's just a pleasure not to have the uncertainty of something working in the morning when I just want to get on with it. I hope the new tower is easy to break down and reassemble for you. I also hope Cathe comes out with some dvds for the tower that will make me want to use it again. For awhile I used it a lot--P57, Rockin' Models, Booty Barre, Cardio Barre. I was doing a lot of barre work. Now those dvds are gathering dust and I sold the P57 because I couldn't stand the instructor.

Deb, it sounds like your VEEP really stepped up for the club. I hope she continues to be solid. I'm sure your cousin appreciates a sympathetic ear to listen to her. Grieving can be very enervating if it is all held inside.

We have a local coffee place--Tunnel City--with a lot of great coffees to choose from. We both like dark roasts and we have been drinking one from Guatemala with a really long name. No creamer or sugar for me, but Kim likes his half and half.

Judy, I saw that heat advisory for a large swathe of the midwest. We are going into another hot spell too, but not quite as severe. Good luck on training for that 5 K!

Valerie, I broke my elbow about 8 years ago if I remember correctly (gazing up at the stars at the Jersey Shore and I tripped of course and broke my fall and my elbow at the same time) and had to have the radius replaced. I have never heard of the condition you described. I will have to look it up.

Diane Sue, I love ice coffee if it is super strong. Hard to do unless you really use a lot of coffee.

My younger son will be here this weekend with a friend, playing golf. I guess we will have to grill some sausages and/or unfreeze one of the pesto batches Kim has been making every week.

jumping back in for a minute... Lynda, "tennis elbow" is a more usual term for epicondylitis. lots of causes other than tennis. I've always thought two handed backhand swings came from people getting epicondylitis from one handed. I've gotten it from shoveling bark. DH has had it from lots of heavy shoveling types of work. usually a repetitive movement that puts strain on the outer elbow area. this was just a sharp blow right to the outside of the elbow. I hope it gets better faster than the over use kind of injury. I should have iced it right away but didn't think it was anything that would be troublesome.

Today I did Ice Low Impact Sweat mish mosh scrambled mix, all step with blizzard blast mixed in, 37 minutes, 258 calories. I then did Muscle Meltdown Biceps, 15 minutes, 77 calories. I wanted to do triceps and do not have the Ice workout with it on it so I did 2 giant sets of the moves on the Ice workout on my own then I put in Amy Bento Ross Drop Set Strength and did triceps, core, and the stretch. She does a nice stretch on this one using the stability ball. This took 43 minutes, and I burned 165 calories.

Debbie, Beast abs is a good one. It is not real long either.

Good evening ladies!

This morning I did the SB scheduled for yesterday which was Strong Back. Followed with todays workout which was Feel Good Arms. Was about 35 minutes and surprisingly I burnt just about 200 calories which please me. Did not realized my HR got up as high as It did. This is my only workout. It is our anniversary today so waiting for DH to come home and we are going over to our favorite local restaurant for cocktails and apps. Going out to dinner on Saturday to celebrate with a yummy filet dinner.

Diane Sue...I have a rebounder and used to love using it. Been ages since I have been on it. SB will be filming some workouts using one so I will be sure to try it out once again. I am very careful about the pictures I put on FB too. I like the MMD Biceps. Great workouts today.

Deb...walking is a great workout. Good that you were there for your cousin. Don't order the DVD's. I'll give you mine! I know by how she described them in her video they will not be what I would want so my pleasure to send them to you!

Judy...I am so sorry that your allergies are acting up again. I feel for you. My good friend is miserable right now. I loved SB Strong Back. One of my favorites and really enjoyed it this morning. Have you tried it? I use 8lb, 5lb and 3's. Need the light one for those darn lateral boxes. Killer move for me. I can see you easily doing a 5k!

Valerie...I would love to be able to ride bikes year round. Even walk outside year round would be nice. I live on country roads with no sidewalks. Once the snow is bad it is hard to go safely. Hope your elbow heals quickly.

Lynda...hope the tech guy figures things out. Would be a shame to have to give up Live. Can't wait to try out today's workout. I never clicked with P57 either. Breaking an elbow is tough. Ouch.

Josie...hoping your mom continues to improve.

Hi to Caitlin!

I did 20 on the treadmill, core 1, and therapy exercises, and floor work from LBB. about an hour all together. amazing how many things involve the elbow. Made me think about actually breaking an elbow and how inconvenient that would be. I'm being very compliant as I think this will be done pretty quickly.
Lori, roads without a shoulder are dangerous. so many distracted drivers these days. and all the debris ends up on the edges. we ride more trails in winter than roads. trails are less busy in winter Happy Anniversary!!

Judy the OTC allergy meds out there work pretty well. I will look up what it is, available in generic and not that expensive. . I think they are for 24 hours. and they don't make you sleepy like Benadryl does. I've used them occasionally but my allergies are mild if I limit my exposure.

I have been trying to get some things together for our trip. I need to break it down to take up less space. I also had my 5 year old grandson here today so we played games.

Deb, that is nice that you were able to spend time walking with your cousin. I am sure it was helpful to her as well. I chose Castor and Pollux grain free duck, sweet potato, and pea formula. She seems to be doing fine with it.

Judy, the heat is terrible here. They keep calling critical alerts on electricity because of air running. I can water my plants and look out in the afternoons and they all look wilted. Sort of like I feel. They are saying it will stay this way till possibly the middle of next week when there is a bit of a chance of rain. I thought my allergies were starting to improve till last night and they hit again.

Valerie, I had what the doctor said is often referred to as "tennis elbow" once when I was really loving kick box workouts. I was doing them a lot and started wearing 2# gloves. I think I was too aggressive. I use winter squash and sweet potatoes in my stews and thing that call for potatoes. It works well for a shepherd pie too. I would have never thought of this years ago. My family always had it in sweet things. Acorn squash was dished up with butter and brown sugar. I noticed a lot of things I could not do as easily when my rotator cuff was injured. So many things have you in a plank or on hands and knees.

Lynda, I am usually afraid of dark roast coffee. Sometimes I find some that is good. I think it is probably how they are roasted. I just do not like the taste of the burnt beans. I have purchased Kicking Horse Grizzly Claw dark and liked it but a lot of the time they are just not good for me. I like strong coffee though. I want it to taste like coffee and not like a watered down coffee beverage. I miss Java Daves coffee. I used to go there to buy the whole bean coffee. I love pesto:) The family is lucky to get fresh sausage and homemade pesto .
