Good morning,

Plannin on some sort of lifting excercise this morning, not sure yet which. I downloaded a new treadmill exercise program from iTunes which I am looking forward to trying. It changes the music to your particular beat, based on heart rate, age etc. You can also set the program for steady state or intervals, with incline or without. There is a coach that talks you through it too. We'll see.

We went to my neice's party last night and DH could not take the noise etc. He started to feel sick, so we left in a hurry. Once we were home, he felt better, but immediately dropped off into a deep sleep in the recliner. This is one of the symptoms, very deep sleep when the feelings of dizziness subside. He goes in for a balance test Thursday. I have to go with him because they said that he may not want to drive afterwards. I think they are going to force one of the spells to see what happens and to what degree. Not fun.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Take care,

Deb, good luck with DH's testing. Definitely go with him! for driving and also to make sure someone ( you) is paying attention and gets the details correct. and asks the necessary questions. with the stress & anxiety that go with any testing... I KNOW I don't listen well or remember much. My DH is the same. always better to have a "non test participating" person to get the details and not drive when distracted or feeling marginal. hope you get a dx. it's usually better knowing what you are dealing with instead of wondering and thinking the worst.

Did a short but fast bike ride yesterday, 23 miles or so, 2 hours.

think we're taking off for 3 days, back on wed.

Valerie, I had to take 2 laxative tablets at 2pm Thursday and then started gavilyte at 6pm. You drink 8 oz every 15 minutes. It works in about 5 or 10 minutes. After you drink 8 glasses you evaluate. If you are clear-light yellow, you can stop. I had to drink 11 glasses but there was still a lot left.
You are right about the Crohn's. Your body's immune system start's to fight itself, but also fixes it by encasing the area so it doesn't spread. This type causes blockage and that could cause big problems. Another type causes new pathways willynilly (see a medical term) and causes big problems. I believe I had both. An area was blocked but I made a perfect new pathway so I have no problems. Except the doctors who want to "fix" me.

Deb I hope dh finds cure to his problem soon.

I had to pick up Elliot at hospital and babysit today. They had to take Luke to the hospital because his fever spiked and caused a seizure.

Hi to Garance and Josie.

Joan

Good morning all,

No workout, not a good night's sleep. DH was up and down all night, at one point felt a dizzy spell coming on so got up to take meds. It seemed like I woke up every time he turned over or moved.

Valerie, have a safe and fun trip!

Joan, I hope Luke is doing better. Did they get the fever down? I don't believe there is a cure to what DH has. Only managing the symptoms as best as you can. How are you? Did you get results from he colonoscopy? Is there something they can do to "fix" it as you mentioned?

Hi to Josie, Cathy & Garance,

Take care,

Hi,

Here are a couple of pics from agility class. A little blurry, but we are moving so that is why. Believe it or not, he did make it over that second jump. It is 3 boards on the ground, slanting upward. About 3 feet.

Hi Deb....we're back early. weather was too hot and buggy yesterday followed by rain last night and this morning. we didn't get to do anything and didn't feel like sitting around today waiting for the skies to (maybe) clear. Drove yesterday and then sat around at several spots. the place we'd hoped to hike had a horsey trail crew that had gone through, and the flies on the horse doo-doo were pretty obnoxious. and too hot besides though the forecast was for much cooler temps or we wouldn't have gone. oh well, can't win them all.

What darling pics! what a cute little guy! He does look agile! what were these dogs bred to do in the past? I keep thinking chasing some kind of critter down holes. or is that fox terriers? are they different? not expert here. My aunt and my cousin always have had wire haired terriers. Any news on the new puppies?

went to dinner at friends house saturday night. she has an amazing, amazing garden. huge, vast, all kinds of flowers and trees. just a wonder to walk through and she can ID all the plants. she's a master gardener. will get some plant starts from her later in the season. had a grilled pizza for dinner. just yummy!. Lots of noise about grilling pizza for the last few years but my first to eat. plain tomato and cheese with fresh basil. Delicious.

Joan, hope your polyp is benign. Crohn's is nothing to fool with. my neighbor had a very rough course but then he NEVER EVER does what he's supposed to. he's on a very restricted diet and ended up getting part of his colon removed. in spite of that, he still smokes like crazy and I think that's one of the worst things with crohns. I don't know the reason. Isn't it amazing that your body can re-route something as major as your colon? all by itself.... and without the 'owner' knowing anything about it.

I did disc 16 and 18 Sat. and disc 17 Sunday. I'm trying to catch up. I should do at least disc 19 today.

I think doctor's want to take out part of the colon. I think they are nuts. I have no problems. I have heard of people who get terrible scar tissue after operation and have to have another surgery. I would agree if I had ANY problems but I don't. I should hear about polyp Friday.

Luke is still on tylenol but I can't get dil to keep him inside. It's been 100 degrees and mold is at record highs. He seems to have bad allergy's also.
He is supposed to have surgery next Tues to put tubes in ears. I hope they postpone if he still has a fever.

wow. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind. they need to explain their reasoning... ... why now, if you aren't having problems? then there's the polyp, still an unknown factor. my neighbor ended up with a colostomy he chose not to have reversed. he had a very rough post surgical course. that (of course) is not typical but sometimes things go smoothly and sometimes they don't. you may want a second opinion from another gastro person, not connected to your current gastroenterologist. I don't believe they need to re-run tests, they will share the data gathered so far. I would want someone else's thoughts before deciding the what to do next.

Strong work on all those STS disks!

Good morning,

I slept a lot better, only remember waking up once. I think a lot of my problem is worrying about dh and how he is feeling. Tomorrow he goes for that balance test, which has caused some anxiety for him. He has had to stop the meds, 48 hours before the test, so he feels like a walking time bomb.

Valerie, too bad you had to cut your trip short. Keegan is a Wire Fox Terrier. They were bred to catch vermin, also fox hunting where they would actually go into the fox burrow etc. Anything that runs on the ground, mice, etc. That is why I was so surprised that he did not hear or smell the squirrel. Kelsy and Clancy would have been going crazy when that squirell was in the basement.

Joan, I am with Valerie, I don't see why they want to do anything with you if you are not having any symptoms, or issues. What even made them test or think of Crohn's? Hope Luke is on the mend. Why would dil take him outside in that temp? How is your Mom doing?

Off to get showered and ready for work. woo hoo.

Good morning,

I at least got 3 miles in yesterday.

Tylenol reduces fever and dil is always on the go. She doesn't listen to me.

Good news yesterday, polyp is just a fatty tumor. Don't need another colonoscopy for 10 years. Specialist at major hospital down town St Louis is the second opinion. She just does Crohn's disease. It sounds like they have a "fancier" mri that should allow them to see area. Sounds much better than biopsy or surgery. I'll listen to her but I can't imagine anyone talking me into surgery.

My mom is still getting legs wrapped. They don't seem to be going down as much this time.

Deb I hope your husband at least finds out something after test that helps.

Joan

I think dogs have the ability "bred" into them, but if they aren't schooled in it, they may not think of it themselves. we have friends with black labs they hunt with. the dogs go to 'school" when under a year to learn how to do hunting things things properly. some are better at it than others but it takes specific training to bring out the abilities. so unless you schooled you little guy in chasing squirrels, he may not think of it himself.
we've had cats who were incredible hunters and our current little guy is clueless. wants to play gently with baby bunnies and mice, must not have gotten proper training from his mamma.

Hope DH has a smooth run with the balance test.

good news joan! I need a colonoscopy again after 5 yrs cause my prep wasn't good enough and am hoping for the 10 yr reprieve also. I'm waiting til fall. I'm so glad you're getting another opinion, and from a true crohns expert. that's not a minor procedure.
Strong work on the mileage.

Morning all,

Dh's test is at 1:30 today. I took off so I can be there to drive him home. Also for support, since he is kind of anxious about it. Keep all your fingers crossed that it gives them something to go by and a treatment of some kind. This is not cureable, but some can get relief depending on the type that it is. He stopped the meds Tuesday because he had to to that 48 hours before the test, he seems to be ok, no dizziness issues, thank God.

Joan, great news on the polyp! I agree with Valerie, second opinion time.

Valerie, you are right about the dog's and what they do. I think terriers are just born to run and chase things on the ground. That is what the name "terrier" comes from.

I think since I am off I will try to get a workout in this morning, before we go for the test, maybe try the new treadmill workout I bought last weekend.

I will check in later to see what is going on, take care,

Hope all went well Deb. your workout and refereeing your husbands testing. Must be miserable going in, being pretty sure it will make you sick. but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do....

We started another yard project. not getting to the indoor stuff, will wait until later in the year. we want to build a small patio/sitting area in front of our house using a load of fancy concrete pavers we had from our old patio. (we replaced it with a concrete slab for our hot tub) so we've had these pavers stacked, just waiting for a new place for them. but we have to dig out an 8x10 sq ft area down about 6 inches. the ground is rocks, clay, hardpan. DH gave me a choice, shovel or pickax. ( what a gentleman) so I took pickax. wowee, what a workout. but he shoveled and that's worse. had to move all the dirt too. this is the first upper body stuff since straining my shoulder on STS, and it must be OK or I could not have gotten thru that. we dug the whole thing out. need to level it and then layer in rocks and sand before the pavers. but the weather is still basically crummy.. cold and wet... so a project like this is a good thing to do.

yoga class this morning, and will do cardio this afternoon, treadmill and probably core.

So tired today, and after 7 hours of sleep. DH's test was ok, it was not as bad as he thought it was going to be. It was a good thing I went with him because I don't think he should have driven home on his own. Hopefully we will get some direction on a treatment from this.

We go to see the puppies again on Saturday, she told me she has sort of picked one out for us, but is still checking their interactions, and personalities etc. They will be 7 weeks old on Saturday. I am not sure about the name yet, think we got it down to 3 choices, Kiley, Kassey or Kyla.

Valerie, send some of that energy of your to the East ok?

Hi to the vacationing Garance, Joan, Cathy & Josie,

Take Care

Did much of my plan...bike, then 35 on treadmill. ran out of time on core. today I'll do weights but will be careful about pushing on shoulder work. I must have pulled a very specific muscle because I have a localized area that is still tender. I think I will know exactly what move it is when I do a disk, #27 or wherever I left off.

Deb, better safe than sorry when it comes to driving. things that are "no biggie" at home or in an office can be a huge distraction/safety issue when driving. glad DH did Ok. hopefully a treatment plan can be put together so he can get better control of this. post pics of the puppy when you get her! or before you get her!

It's the weekend!

Off to class, then to see the puppies again. maybe this time we will know or kind of know which one will be ours.

What is everyone up to this weekend?

Valerie, any rides or hikes? or are you still going to work on the patio dig out?

Did a major garden day yesterday, weeding, lugging things around. up and down stairs umpty million times. decided to do LBB instead of upper body since we will be doing patio work today, mostly upper stuff. I did the whole disk and have only very minor soreness this morning. nothing after I'm up and moving for a while. as usual the hardest part are the leg drills at the end. I had to stop in the middle and skip a few but not many. I get fatigued with my leg in the air like that. if I stop in the middle and skip a couple reps I can get it back up and finish. goal of course is do them all.

still raining today totally lousy summer so far. we'll do a bike ride tomorrow and a hike on monday even though everything is still buried in snow.

yes, please puppy pics.

I never know if it's my system or what but I had to put in my user name and password this morning, for some reason
