Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 6/9

Good morning,

It looks like it will be a beautiful day here....hopefully no rain in site, but not real hot. The nurse at the DR office said that I get the "gold star" for my numbers, eg heart rate, blood pressure etc. We'll see what the blood work comes out like. Not worried though, he is going to look at thyroid because of the amount of hair I lose, not that it's a problem, I have really thick hair and am used to it being all over the place. He said it is probably a hormonal thing, but just checking to be sure.

Judy, hope all goes welll with your FIL and the DR apt today. It sounds like he is not remembering or maybe he did know that he fell and didn't want to worry anyone?

No real plans for the weekend, agility class this morning, then going to see my niece in a play at a local theater tonight.

Take care,

did the bi and tri workout last night and did a 22 mile ride this morning. harder than it sounded with a big headwind most of the way. but no doubt about it, I ride as fast as DH now. This causes him great psychological pain!! we're going on a camper trip for hiking and mt biking so will be back Tuesday or wed depending on how the weather is. might be wet so good chance we'll be home early but we'll see.
we too are having some lovely weather, 70 and sunny. very pleasant... have a great weekend everyone.

Hi Everyone,

Lori-Thank you. Both of my parents are gone too, my father passed away when I was 29 and I was my mother's caregiver from 1992-1999, when she went into a nursing home. She lived there until 2007, and I spent so much time there, I almost felt like I lived there too. My parents were over 40 when I was born, so I was younger than most when I became a caregiver. As you said, aging parents create many challenges and heartaches. I still miss my parents every day.

Deb-Thank you. It was a long day, FIL saw his doctor, and he will be getting a physical therapist, the visiting nurse twice a week and possibly an aide to help with bathing. He was very confused, couldn't really remember the fall and his short term memory is very bad. He got some blood work and a chest x-ray today too.

When we got home from Ann Arbor, my Troy Lite Set was on the doorstep :) It is such a nice weight set! DH was very impressed with it too! Thank you for recommending it to me.

Valerie-Sounds like you had a great ride! Have fun on your trip!

I did lawn-max at FIL's today, and I wore my heart rate monitor:eek:How nutty is that! The lawn mowing session was 62 minutes and I burned 340 calories.:)

Hi to Lynda and Josie!
