Good morning,

Well Keegan got his title yesterday! He scored 100 and took first place in his height category. Of course he was the only dog in his category, but we will keep that a secret! . We recorded the run and I am in the process of uploading to YouTube. I'll post a link when it's there.

Running both dogs today, hopefully they will qualify. Keegan was moved up to the next level, ( hardest one) so if we do qualify, it would be great, but if not, we will have fun anyway.

Lori, you should know your calorie burn! Do you not have a HRM? Another reason to get the Apple Watch, doesn't it have a built in HRM? LOL.

Valerie, that sounds like a great hike. Yep, same thing here with the plugs and cords. Then after the Apple stuff, there is the Nook, the Kindle etc etc...:)

Hi to Josie, Judy, Lynda, Dawn,

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Somehow it plays Keegan's video, then goes to the next one on YouTube???? I never had this happen before....weird.

Deb, it tells me to sign in before I can view the video... but there's no place to do that as far as I can see. I've used u-tube before and never had to sign in... so there you are, technical issue #1. too funny... yes, that's definitely one way to win...be the only one in the category! Best of luck to you and your doggies on events today.

last night was rough. the neighbors on both sides seem to go crazy some weekends. one side was blowing off fire crackers after 10 pm, and the other was doing some kind of burn pile with with kids and grandkids and being noisy and obnoxious. Illegal fireworks are such a big problem. the reservations sell firecrackers that are illegal and supposedly can't be taken off tribal lands. well, right.... that's going to be enforceable....!! every summer. not everyone wants exploding M-80's at midnight. they seem to pick hot nights when windows are open and most are having trouble sleeping to begin with. gets worse as the 4th approaches. we get up early and I sometimes think we should crank up the chain saw, mower, and leaf blower at 5 am and see how it feels to them.

Good morning ladies!

Fun night last night. I set up the movie screen and projector outside by the fire pit, made a fire, popcorn and we watched movies. Felt like a kid again at the drive in. Since it was a nice night we left the screen up so we can watch GOT tonight. Looking forward to it.

Deb, the video says it is marked private. You need to go to the settings and make it public. I can't wait to watch it! Congrats to Keegan!!!! So nice. I wish you luck today! I do have a HRM yet I hardly use it. I never think of it until I am halfway thru my workout. I need to keep it in plain site. I am going to do that right now.

Valerie... That would drive me nuts with noisy neighbors on both sides. We are very fortunate that everyone is pretty quite around here. July 4th (which is around the corner) there will be some noise with firecrackers but not too bad. Used to drive my little Nilla nuts. Now it is a non issue since she is pretty much completely deaf. She will be 15 on June 9th! :)

Not sure what the workout will be today. Another beautiful day. I may just take Chester for a walk and head over to the pool with DH. There is a very nice Inn a mile from us that sells memberships to the locals to use their pool. This is the 3rd year we have bought in and always enjoy it. In a weird way I always feel like we are at an exclusive resort on vacation even if it is only a mile away!

Have a wonderful day!!!!!

Now our water system is not working... we have a community well with a 150 lots and suddenly this morning...no water. Great. we were planning on watering the garden before it got too hot, and also wanted to fix the ice machine on the frig that stopped working yesterday. no way to do with no water. and the idiot next door is still screwing with his burn pile. stirred it this morning and it's all smoky again. I can't believe it! there would be no water to use if it got out of hand.

Lori how did you know the video was marked private? is that why I was told to "sign in"?

Not sure when we will have water service back. a couple years ago a pump failed but no idea what the issue is this time. expect similar. guess I will need to go do grocery shopping this morning instead of later as planned. sometimes we have down times while they do maintenance but those are predicted and easy to plan for. this is unexpected and very much a PITA. you don't know how important water is for normal functions until you don't have any!

I have several HRM's. all use chest straps. they work fine although the watch that went with them died many years ago. I get readouts on most equipment. the spin bike not as well..... not sure why that one seems to get stuck at one number requiring a button push to get a current reading. probably new plus old technology.
I usually skip the calorie burn numbers. they never seem reliable to me.
Somehow I missed the announcement of the new series. I remember getting something that would not open. the title was in the inbox but when I clicked on it, it said it had been deleted although it was sitting in front of me. I need to go take a look...

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did BarreAmped Cardio Fat Burn (68:00). This one is growing on me. I am trying harder to do the balance moves.

Way to go, Keegan! I would love to see you in action too, if your mistress can get that video into the public domain. Good luck today and have fun.

Deb, this must be quite a workout for you racing around an agility course.

Valerie, I had that pneumonia shot too, and was surprised at how sore my shoulder was. I was warned, but I thought it would be like the flu shot--just a little tender for a day. Do you have to call someone about your well? It's probably the pump, unless you have a big leak in your line. Very frustrating the way these things always seem to happen on the weekend. DH feels no compunction about getting his equipment going early in the morning, but our neighbors are pretty far away, and there's some kind of right-to-farm law which is also a right-to-make-noise-if-you-need-to as a farmer law. DH wanted to see 42--the film about Jackie Robinson, so we did get it from Netflix. I didn't expect to be that excited about it, but I ended up really loving it. I cannot understand why Harrison Ford was not nominated for at least a supporting actor Oscar. He was amazing playing the owner Branch Rickey. A strong recommendation from me, even if you don't care that much about baseball. It was, IMO, even better than Selma on racism.

Lori, that does sound like fun. I am sooo looking forward to GOT tonight. Max has started getting nervous with thunder and I have heard about these vests you can put on your dog--thunder vests? I am wondering if they work.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone! It's beautiful here.

Lynda, two men from our HOA take care of the water system. It's quite a large complex system... I took a tour when we first moved here. Mostly it works fine. I thought we( the HOA) bought a new pump for backup. I'm thinking this may be related to the extended power out we had several days ago... that somehow, something got out of sync. I don't know how the system works exactly but it must produce varying amounts of water with nights quieter. things must be on some kind of timer. plus we are in a hot spell right now, so that pushes usage. apparently it was on for a while but shut down again so we will not use any until we get an "all clear". it is a huge headache if you draw a lot of air into the lines...can get air locks and water hammers.

I know I saw the Jackie robinson movie... and I liked it a lot. we sometimes don't realize that those attitudes were NOT all that long ago. I remember how attitudes were when I was a child, and was told how "people should know their place" ..... and worse. I feel stupid that I don't remember the film that well. I do remember Harrison ford. I don't care for baseball either but it really wasn't about the sport. I think movies about how individuals are affected by racism tend to work better than ones about racism per se.

My shoulder is still sore today..... the benefit is I don't notice the tendonitis as much! same shoulder, different pain! actually that seems quite good the last few days, and yesterday was a serious workout. no one warned me about the shot and getting sore.. I also expected flu shot level.

we are very good about not making noise until later in the morning especially on weekends. wish our neighbors were as considerate.

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did Slow & Heavy Legs & Shoulders with a segment of Core Max. The shoulder work in this is tough!

Deb-great video of Keegan! Congrats on his title! I agree with Lynda, it looks like you get a good workout on the agility course too.

Valerie-that's too bad about your neighbors. We don't have noisy neighbors. There are a few that set off fireworks on July 4th but nothing else.

Lori-that sounds like so much fun, to watch movies outside!

Hi to Lynda & Josie!

Judy

Good morning & happy Monday.

Well the trial is over and at least Keegan did get his title. The only one qualifying run all weekend. He moved up to the next level yesterday, and completely shut down. He wouldn't do any jumps. I pulled him from the ring mid-way. What a brat he was. Kylee refused one of the obstacles 3 times, so I just moved on. She did all the rest, but did not qualify because of the one she wouldn't do. Something she does in class without a blink. Dogs! The are funny sometimes.

Valerie, I hope your water system is back. Losing water is probably worse than losing electricity. Funny, with all that space around that you can still hear the firecrackers. I would have not problem starting up all the lawn equipment I wanted at 5 am!

Lori, what a great idea to set up that screen outside at the fire pit! That is great that the inn sells memberships to the pool. What a good idea.

Lynda, I have seen and read about those vests for dogs. I would Google the name, and see the reviews about them. Maybe they have them on Amazon?

Judy, kudos for doing the Slow & Heavy workouts, those are tough.

Hi to Josie, & Dawn,

Errands today and a mani-pedi.

Take care,

All ended well last night with the water but not without a fight. we finally got our system to fill about 5:30 after much effort. it was a bigger than just us. Our manager is getting up in years, wasn't watching closely enough. we had a very warm day and usage went up abruptly. still, it ran out around 2 am. if the reservoir is low, air gets sucked into the lines. once air is trapped, it can prevent water from getting thru. so it becomes a HUGE problem. Our house has a particular problem spot but this was a system wide problem. We were driving around releasing air from the fire hydrants.....scary when you open a hydrant and only air comes out! the upside is I know how to open and close a fire hydrant! Add to useless skills we learn! we filled up our camper water tank at a neighbor so we were OK. I think we need to replace our manager. he's nice and smart but he is getting too old for this job. he has an assistant but he was gone for the weekend.
Anyway, no special exercise yesterday but I did mileage!

Deb, it is very inconvenient especially if it's a surprise. the problem is not just "no water" but getting air in the lines! by the time you realize there's a problem, you 've sucked in air. Too bad..dogs will be dogs... It looks like a lot of fun and that you get as much of a workout as the dogs. .

the more space people have, the more careless they get about noise. we wait until 9 before starting power equipment unless someone else gets it going early, like a nearby construction project.

Hi Ladies,

Sorry for not posting during the ALC week. We worked all day and even though we had shifts of 3 hours doing trash duty we al had to work doing other things. It was a very humbling experience and a great workout :). I sent you ladies pictures through e-mail just a few minutes ago. I have already signed up as a rider for next year and will start training sooner this time. Thank you so much for your support.

Deb, congratulations!

Lori, watching movies outside sounds wonderful. My mom used to take us to the drive-in all the time.

Valerie, hope they fix your water situation soon,

Garance, I have not seen 42 but will now :). Thank you for the review,

Judy, sounds like you are completely back on track. How about doing ALC with me next year?

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, Judy, and Dawn--

This morning I did both RWH low impact workouts together (50:08).

Welcome back Josie, and thanks for all the pics! It looks like a lot of fun.

Deb, I enjoyed the video. A lot of tricky stuff, especially that final weaving through Keegan did. I will look up the thunder vest and see what the reviews are like.

Judy, I remember the sh on Slow and Heavy being difficult. I would start with 15 lbs. and drop to 12.

Lori, GOT was incredible last night! I hate that burning witch. Loved Daenerys taking off on her own private jet--Drogon.

Valerie, it does sound like you need a new manager if you have to do all of that maintenance on your own.

Went to see Far from the Madding Crowd. Very romantic schmaltzy. I think it was a BBC made for TV movie that they decided was too good to show just on TV. Very old-fashioned filmmaking--total fadeouts between 'episodes' and then almost always a return to gorgeous leisurely panning shots of the English countryside. The novel really explains the characters in greater detail. In the film, some of their behavior seems totally crazy. A very naughty English Shepherd puppy who looks like Max (same markings) and rounds up 200 sheep and pushes them over a cliff. I guess I would give it a B.

Finally (!!) did a complete upper body workout, x-train biceps/triceps. also core 1. I went lighter on weight, did not do full# reps on all moves but did on most. the only one with an issue is cross body extensions. I had 8 lbs and no way was I doing those ! that targets THE spot. I do not want to irritate it over again. I wonder if this was the move that started it all off. I thought it was pushups but maybe ia was wrong. not sure anymore. I hope tomorrow everything feels Ok, as I feel good now. I even did kickbacks 8 lbs in plank position because they did not activate the problem area. I used 10 lbs for most things, less than what I used before but I want to go back carefully.

wow slow and heavy sounds like an impossible goal right now.

Lynda, we do need a new manager or company to manage this. as much as he is a nice, dedicated guy, he is barely up to the task anymore.
Josie it's probably good to see the event from all sides to fully appreciate what goes into it. congrats on planning to ride it again next year.

Good morning,

Rain, rain and more rain today. Parts of our area had a tornado warning yesterday. Nothing came of it. Sometimes I think the weather people panic and like to give doom and gloom warnings.

Valerie, glad your water is back. I guess I don't understand what the set up is there? you have 5 acre lots, but have someone that manages it? I think of that set up being more like a condo or townhouse community. Maybe you wrote .5 and I read it incorrectly? I hope all is still ok after that workout yesterday.

Josie, welcome back! So being a roadie was harder than being a rider? LOL. :)

Lynda, there are a lot of versions of the thunder coat on Amazon. Even the AKC puts one out. Wow, "Far from the Madding Crowd" is a blast from the past. I think my brother was an usher at one of our downtown theaters when that came out. He was 17.

Hi to Judy, Lori & Dawn,

Take care,

Deb, we are part of a large parcel of land that the owner divided into 5.0 acre lots. we have a HOA( home owner association) that we elect. we have our own water system with a community well and purification plant. we are near a large river so water comes from there. serves 150 lots. the guy who runs the system is a retired engineer who volunteered for the job. the HOA pays him a small salary. he lives here too, so in his best interest to keep everyone happy. each house has a meter and we pay for how much water we use, and also for the system repairs or upgrades. our concern is that he is getting up in years and we don't have anyone to step in if he has a health problem, or starts forgetting things.
we are all septic, no sewer. we are outside any "big" towns but not exactly rural anymore. we pay to maintain our community roads paving, plowing. we're on regular electric/telephone/cable lines. when we moved here 25 yrs ago it was more secluded but development has increased mostly since the reservation land we were near has been developed into a casino. no one here ever expected this, as the tribe has other lands near the interstate and other major roads where they could have sited it. but no. this has caused changes, none of them good.

arm and shoulder feel Ok. I know I did a workout but just normal feeling aches. I sure hope I'm nearing the end of this. we are planning a road ride today. we are having a stretch of warm dry sunny weather. we could use some rain!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, Judy, and Dawn--

This morning I did ba, rear delts, bis (52: 28).

Deb, this is a completely new version of Far from the Madding Crowd. There's an older version starring Julie Christie as Bathsheba made when she was at the height of her fame (post-Dr. Zhivago). This new one stars Carey Mulligan. I think I remember the earlier one being much longer, and maybe it should be, because I think this new one might seem a bit hard to follow if you had not read the book. Those thunder shirts get pretty good reviews unless your dog goes completely batsh--- when it thunders. Max just pulls his ears back and follows me around too closely. I'm afraid I will trip over him. I must measure his manly chest and send for one! He'll probably think I'm crazy. By the way, are you anywhere near that prison break? That just sounds so impossible. Hope they catch them soon.

Valerie, that's great that you have been able to do an upper body workout again. Wow, I wouldn't want a casino close to me either.

Josie, thanks for the link to the video. I will take a look.

Hi to Lori, Judy, and Dawn!

Good afternoon ladies!

I am so very sad. I received a call this evening that my cousin's son passed away today. I am heart broken. I am very close to my cousin and this is so devastating. His son was 33 years old and had PTS from his tour in Afghanistan. They live in Florida and I am hoping to be able to go to the service and be there for my family. 33 is so young.

Lynda, GOT's was amazing. Deviated from the book somewhat. Yes that witch needs to disappear. Loved how it ended and that entire scene was better than the book. I like that keeps me guessing a bit. Was amazing to watch outside. We are planning to watch the finale outside too providing the weather is good.

Josie, welcome back! I have not looked at the pictures yet but will do after I sign out here. Volunteering like you did is really hard work.

Judy, I have never done the S&H workouts. Funny we are talking about these as I have been selling some dvd's on eBay and I just sold that one today. I have owned it since it came out and figured if I have not done it by now I never would.

Valerie, yeah!!!! Congrats on the upper body workout! I bet it felt great. My shoulder is still bothering me and I know if is because of all the mailroom stuff. I spoke with my mailroom person today and it looks like she will be out pretty much the entire summer. They have given me a temp for 10 hours and I think that is ridiculous. So I am filling in the other 22 hours she worked on top of my other responsibilities. I made a case today for more temp hours so we will see how this goes. I am hoping I will get it because I think they are afraid I am about to walk or punch someone in the face!! ;). Sorry for the rant. Glad your water is back.

Deb, we had a ton of rain today and boy did we need it. Sun came out later in the day which was nice. Loved the video! I can see that is a workout for you!

Hi to Dawn!

Hi Everyone,

Today I did S&H Triceps and Biceps.

Josie- Thanks for the photos and video. I'll keep the ALC ride in mind for next year. It sounds like an awesome event.

Lori-That is funny! I'm thinking about selling a few DVDs that I have but haven't done. I have a few cycling dvds and a KCM that I don't think I will ever use.

Valerie-Great job on the upper body work! XTrain bi's and tri's is a good one. I wouldn't like living close to a casino either.

Lynda-15 & 12 is great for shoulders. I was using 5's for the front, side and delt raises and 12's for the overhead press. I need to try to move up to 8's the next time.

Hi to Deb & Dawn,

Judy
