Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 6/6

Hi Deb, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did the 60 minute Zumba instructional DVD. Didn't get much of a workout, but I did learn a lot of steps. Only a few might give me trouble. They are very good on breaking things down. I will try one of the cardio dvds next week--probably Cardio Party, which is 50 min. long.

I went to the www.biggestlosercamp.com site. They have two places--one in Utah, and one in Malibu. I thought the rates were really pretty good. But Joan, you are making such good progress at one pound per week.

Valerie, it sounds like you and DH already are doing biggest loser camp things with all the hikes and rides you go on! Just not my idea of a vacation.

Deb, we went out to dinner last night because it was restaurant week, and we had a really lovely meal that the chef decided to give us free because DH is working out a deal on 6 of his pigs. We did tip our waitperson generously. Not sure we will be doing much of anything this weekend. I wish a good movie would come out. So far the reviews haven't been good on any of the "blockbusters."

Cathy, thanks for the website on Tracie. I will keep these in mind for my next (uh-oh!) purchase--after I master Zumba.

Hi to Josie on the road!

Ended up taking yesterday off. I had a very sore back from getting on and off the bike a million times that got pretty stiff yesterday. much better today but I needed a rest day. also the bruises on my legs are monumental. I keep hitting my right shin on the pedal, and the back of my left calf with the other pedal and the bruising is pretty colorful and tender. but I can work out today and will after a major grocery run... no food left! Deb, I work out at home to a great degree so we can do fun things like hike and bike and not get too sore.

Lynda, I loved Sopranos too though the biggest problem was understanding the dialogue. Some series have subtitles and I use them. sometimes budgets get cut and when subtitles go, I have trouble. I have always had difficulty understanding tv/movie dialogue and it's vastly better if I can read it along with listen. even West Wing, my all time favorite, the last season the subtitles were eliminated. I won't watch with constant commercials. I wait til they are released on disk and rent from netflix. for me there's a huge difference in following the story line and getting the "atmosphere". It's the same with movies. If it's got commercials I'd rather not watch. When we watch movies at home we often need to pause it but it's not annoying and distracting like commercials.

we started watching "The Messenger" last night but need to finish it tonight and so far it's excellent. I didn't hear much about this one with woody harrelson . I hate to break up a movie like that but DH had to get to bed last night so we stopped about half way thru. DH started it while I was still getting dinner and I think I missed some important things at the beginning so may need to re-watch part before continuing.

Joan, congrats on steady progress. Keep it up.

deb, i thought i already did this, but apparantly not. http://www.tracielongfitness.com/Articles.asp?ID=139#bn-forum-1-1-3530588004/4922

well, didn't go to the horse show, which is fine with me. i don't feel like riding in the heat all day anyway. although, i was on my horse for 2 hrs today, and was it hot. actually, more humid than hot, but i was soaking wet when i got in the house.

my w/out today was tracie's core cardio. i love that workout, it is so fun. my rear is still sore from doing tracie's focus lower body the other day.

today i did ultimate calorie blast w/stephanie. tough and sweaty. lots of tall box climb, which i like, fortunately.

where is everyone?
