Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 6/4

Today I was tired so skipped any cardio. I did STS disc 13, chest, shoulders, and triceps, 71 minutes (I stopped to help my husband find a key) 243 calories. Heart rate 96 avg/ max 137. I then did Barre Amped with Suzanne Bowen Strength and Stretch , upper and ball stretch, 20 minutes, 29 calories. Total calories 272 workout was 90 minutes. Fit Bit sure doesn't give many calories for a weight workout no matter how hard you are working. Cathe has this STS at 420 on her met scale. Map My Fitness clocked me at 427. Go figure.

Poor Gertie, I made my salad for lunch and fell over her and the salad flew across the dining table as I hit my chin on the corner and landed on the floor. I have a bruised knee and arm/elbow and so far I don't see one on my chin but it still stings and I am icing. She took off for her crate. I had to coax her out and snuggle her. I felt bad for her. It probably hurt her when I tripped over her as well. She was lying in the entry space between the kitchen and dining room waiting. I was too preo-occupied with thinking I ould set the bowl down and move the air purifier to the bedroom for awhile since I have started running it in different rooms in the house to help with allergens. I am still wondering how I managed to do that !

Deb, I wondered if that was the case with the workouts that came out with the Fit Tower. I just find it simpler to add the workouts to the calendar that are already there as opposed to finding what would work best for the workout I have done and typing it in. I hope the trials go well today and Kylee does well.

Carolyn, now I am wanting to pull out some of those Jari Love workouts. Do you have the Boot camp one? For quite awhile I used segments of that as add ons for workouts. I liked the cardio then a body part weight segment. Also the idea of a piece of cardio equipment and then the weight segment. The weight segments were good. I just remember whatever was the last one I bought, I did not care for. I kept trying to like it. Some portions felt too easy and some hurt. I remember having to modify a lot on some of the stuff with the step because my knees hurt. I finally did the moves off the step.

Diane Sue, I don't have the JL Bootcamp. That's about the time that I stopped buying her dvds. Today I did some moves on the step but I was on the floor for most of the workout. Sometimes I will modify if a move seems awkward to me. She has a lot of shoulder work and I use light weights with that.

Lori Happy Nirthday to Nilla. 17 years , that is something.

Carolyn, i think that i would use light weights with the shoulder work too. Jari tends to do a lot of repetitive moves in that area.

Good morning,

A good day at the trial yesterday. Kylee finished one of her titles, and did a great job on the other, although we didn't qualify on that one, I was very happy with her performance. I did not sign her up for today, (I will be there working instead) but we are in again tomorrow, hope to get at least one or 2 legs.

Carolyn, wow that was a really long workout! I really like the Stephanie Plum series too, although it has become pretty predictable.

Lori, Happy Birthday to little Nilla!! :)

Diane Sue, OUCH! That fall sounds painful I am glad you both are ok.

Off to the trial early this morning. I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Wednesday I did an indoor ride. Thursday was a rest day, and yesterday I did Cathe Live Strong & Lean Reps, using the Apple TV App, & I finished with Jessica Smith Floor Barre.

Deb-Nice that Kylee finished one of her titles! Good luck tomorrow!

Diane Sue-I'm sorry about your fall :( I use the Tanita body fat scales. I don't have a bluetooth one but it would be nice. Maybe I'll look at one next year.

Carolyn-I have a couple of the Jari Love Extremely Ripped dvds but haven't tried them. They look like workouts that I would like and like they would be a nice change from heavier lifting. I almost did one yesterday but I ended up doing a Live workout instead. I might try one next week.

Lori-Great job with your steps! I had my first 20,000 step day this week! I have been staying around 10,000 most days.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Judy

Today's workout was Rockout Knockout + heavy bag mix, 69 minutes (4 minutes extra for putting gloves on and setting up, I put another fitbit band with frame over my Fit bit to block the gloves from hitting it and stopping it) 473 calories, heart rate 129/ 165 max. I then did Ab Circuits med ball abs, 10 minutes, 45 calories and no equipment abs 17 minutes 50 calories. Total time was 96 minutes, 568 calories, 6,805 steps.

Judy, I think one of the Extremely Ripped workouts was one of my biggest calorie burners of Jari Loves. It is nice getting the weights and a good cardio workout all at one time. I have come close to 20,000 steps but not made it yet.

Deb, that is great that Kylee did well. Enjoy working the trials today. I hope Kylee does well tomorrow.

Today was a rest day. I had my meeting with the investment club ladies this morning. The meeting was about an hour long, but productive. We have become very efficient with sticking with the agenda and getting the business completed in a short period of time over the years.

Deb, congratulations on Kylee's performance.

Judy, Extremely Ripped and Extremely Ripped 1000 are very high calorie burners. The 1000 is a cardio and weights interval. The cardio is very basic and she shows levels 1-3 so you can choose where you want to be.

Lori, that is quite a step count!

Greetings to all and enjoy your day.

Good afternoon ladies,

I took another rest day yesterday. I was still really tired mainly from lack of sleep. Nilla, just keeps us awake most of the night. We need to figure something out about this.

Today was a good workout day. I started off with a portion of BBS Dance Cardio Full Body DVD. I did the first dance and then the upper body. I really like this dvd. Then it was on to SB's Challenge which was an interval barre strength that works the total body. Next was a SB bounce that had lower body intervals, then a Bellicon Hiit Bounce and ending with another Bellicon Dance bounce. Total time was 81 mins and 501 cal. Ended up being a really nice mixture of cardio and strength.

Deb..yeah happy for Kylee! Good for her!

Diane Sue..that can be so scary tripping over our animals. Good that you were not hurt really bad. I think about this all the time and amazed I have not broken an ankle. I asked my son to please bring my heavy bag upstairs. I am really missing it. Glad the extra band worked while having the glove on. Great calorie burn today!

Judy!!! Congrats on 20,000 steps!!!! Sweet!!! I have an older generation of Apple TV so can not download the app. I keep my ipad adapter always plugged into my tv. So far it has been really easy to stream Live. Thusday's workout looked great.

Carolyn...that meeting sounds really interesting. How many years now have you been meeting. If I remember it has been quite a few.

Have a great afternoon all. I am on the stone patio on my swing enjoying this beautiful day!

Carolyn, that is good that you get the business end over quickly. I guess the rest of the time is spent with pleasant stuff since it is a club. I went and looked at Jari's website after looking over all the dvds that I have of hers. I guess I have all of them except the Express and 6 minute one. The last one I purchased that I did not care for was Extremely Ripped and Chiseled. I was looking forward to it since I really liked the first one and it did not compare.

Lori, sitting outside enjoying the outdoors sounds wonderful. I went out to get a bit of fresh air after sitting working on a painting for several hours. I didn't sit though. I put miracle grow for roses in my roses and some for hydrangeas in that pot then tossed the ball with Gertie for a bit. You did a lot of bouncing today :) Poor Nilla. I hope that you can figure something out.
