Good Morning,

Rain, rain, and more rain....it has been raining steadily since yesterday morning...enough already!

Valerie, I wish our bike rack was less complicated where it is held by the car door/hatch. I'm going to try to put the bike in the back of the car first, before I attempt the rack. It's so funny how your state is so dry right now, under warnings etc, and we are flooding!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend, no matter what the weather is like! ;)

Good morning ladies!

Yesterday was Cathe Live Kickboxing and Compound Weights. I used my heavy bag for a little bit but not for long. Want to ease into it. I liked this workout but I'll have to say it is not a favorite. I do not feel it flowed as well as her other kickboxing workouts. After I worked out I decided to change the workout room around a bit. Once I started I was committed and boy this turned out bigger than expected. 2 hours later I was done and not sure if I like it. Time will tell. I think I just need to get used to it. Took Chester and Nilla for a little walk yesterday. Very cute.

Deb...we actually had a decent day yesterday. However, today it is pouring and will continue all day. My DH and I plan to work in his office with a couple of projects, set up computer, hang a shelf, etc. little things like that. Glad PT is going well. I have been following the news about the prisoners. Glad thay got one and the other will follow soon. How scary for those folks living in the area.

Judy...thanks for the reminder. I have not had a screening in a while. I'll make an appt tomorrow. I remember the first time I did Turbo Barre how sore I was. It still really gets me. I am planning Barre today and I am sure it will be SB. I just can not get enough of her workouts

Valerie...that really is so sad that you have to be that careful with your bikes. I get it though that you have no choice. If people are stealing copper pipes underneath offices they will still anything. That is crazy!

Josie... Welcome back! I noticed you sent pictures. I will be looking thru them after I post. Looking forward to seeing them!

Lynda...rainy day today. I bought season 1 thru 3 of GOT's on DVD yesterday using my Amex points. I very rarely buy seasons on DVD but for some reason I was compelled to do so with these. I am actually looking forward to rewatching. Hoping to get DH to watch the show.

Have a great day today. Hi to Dawn!

Hi all--

This morning I did about 60 minutes of SB--barre and weight work.

We were very lucky yesterday on our outing to Jacob's Pillow. It didn't start raining until last night. The rain came over night and today it's just very windy. My poor hanging plants are flying around. At least no broken branches and trees here, although it looks like a lot of people had some serious wind damage to their trees.

My son and his partner won their flight of the member-guest tournament yesterday, so they get some store credit at the pro shop. He shot par for 18 holes yesterday and was very pleased. They were in the second flight. They also lucked out on the weather. No way anyone is playing golf today with all this wind.

Alas, Judy, The New Adventures of Old Christine is not on Amazon Prime. I'm happy with Suits right now. I will also give True Detective another try tonight on HBO and see if it gets any better.

They keep showing a trailer for a new movie titled Max, and when his name is said several times, Max looks up and around, baffled at who might be calling him. The movie Max looks nothing like mine, and the film looks like a real tearjerker.

Nilla looks very regal.

Great pictures, Josie!

It appears you are getting all the rain we need so badly. Is this an inordinate amount of rain for you?? wishing for a weather change! it was extremely hot yesterday. we did indoor things. this morning we did a 20 mile ride early. now it looks like we might get thunderstorms, dry lightning included. best to be home in case of problems. it is really hot and dry and getting scary. the 4th is always worrisome but this year is the worst! . the entire state is under a red flag warning. no outside burning or campfires allowed but there are always idiots who ignore it. we smelled smoke this morning and saw a small plume rising from behind a house a couple doors down. we got their address, and if it shows up again I will likely report them. might be the same idiots shooting off firecrackers.... hard to tell where a noise comes from! If someone starts a grass/brush fire, it could spread very quickly.

did I overdo the bike precautions? 99% are decent people but that blasted 1%..... car window glass in parking lots are proof I'm not imagining it. the issue is enough people leave behind wallets, cell phones ....don't want the extra weight ... that rewards the thieves. this happens at hiking trail heads also. Deb, we didn't get a hitch on this car and should have. the hitch mount carriers are easier to load bikes on. the only rack I'd never buy is a roof rack. hard to get a bike up that high, and if you forget just once and open the garage door and drive in... ... Our rack is almost an antique but it's fit on car after car, so we keep using it.

Josie enjoyed the pics. what a gorgeous place.

Nilla is such a cutie...

Good morning,

It's still raining here....we will need an ark soon! They finally got the second escapee! Now those people in northern NY can finally breathe.

Kylee's tooth extraction is this morning....poor baby, no food after 6 last night, no water after 9. She is looking at me wondering why she didn't get her treat when she came from outside. She will be a sad little girl in a couple of hours when I drop her off.

Lori, good job on the workout room....I need to do something with mine, but I have no idea what to do, so I keep putting it off. Love the little Nilla's selfie, what a ham! :). I also gave up STS for now...could not get up the enthusiasm to do the workouts, so what's the point? I did KCM's pyramid workout yesterday and it was great. Nice to be able to have a goal of increasing the weights too.

Lynda, good for your son and his partner, nice job. What does the term "flight" mean in golf? (shows how much I know about the sport). is that the same as "round"?

Valerie, I remember past years of your problems with July 4th celebrations in your area...I would be calling the police asap if I saw any smoke as well.

Josie, welcome back! Very nice pictures!

Hi to Judy & Dawn,

Nothing too exciting this week, besides Kylee's surgery, my boss is in town and we are going to dinner on Wednesday. Otherwise, just same ol' retired stuff. :)

Take care,

Hi all--

This morning I did both low impact hiit workouts together (50:08).

Deb, I hope Kylee's surgery goes well and there are no complications. As I understand it, a flight is a group of golfers with a similar handicap. The second flight is above average, but the first flight is the best. On the other hand, 18 holes at par is pretty darn good--probably why they won their flight.

It's not raining here, but it's dark and gloomy and does not feel like summer at all--temps in the 60s.

Josie, I guess it's fortunate that your trip to Greece is over now. They have made it hard for tourists to get their hands on euros by closing their banks. I don't really understand this crisis, but it seems like it has been going on forever in an off-and-on kind of way.

Valerie, our April was very dry, and I remember a ban on burning and no fires allowed on the hiking trails (the Appalachian Trail). We seem to have caught up on our annual rainfall, or maybe a little lower, but April really slowed down everything in terms of growing season.

Anyone have plans for the 4th?

I'm not sure how far behind on rainfall we are...possibly not much by the numbers except for this month, but runoff from snowmelt is done long ago which is unusual. June is normally fairly wet and cool. this has been hot& dry. the media have been hammering home how hot and dry it is. the east part of the state had temps some places of up to 112. the west side is much better, low 90's at the worst. but that is 20 degrees more than I can stand happily. there have been plenty of small fires already. I dread the fireworks season.
the 4th has become a obligatory "stay home" holiday for us. everything is crowded and this year it's too hot everywhere. we need to stay here and watch for fires from idiots setting off fireworks. It's all illegal Indian fireworks that aren't supposed to be taken off the res, but it's totally ignored. too many people breaking the law for any kind of enforcement except in the worst cases.

I don't understand the issue with Greece and their finances either but if they default on loans that can cause problems elsewhere. Josie, good thing you're out of there.
Deb, hope Kylee does well. dogs and cats don't seem to be as bothered by pain as people are.

Hi Everyone,

This morning I did a short Spinerval and tonight I plan on doing a core workout.

My skin cancer screening went well. I have a small mole on my foot that they suggested I have removed. I'll probably try to schedule something for later this summer. They said it wasn't urgent, but they always suggest removing moles from the hands and feet. Otherwise, everything was fine and I don't have to go back until next year.

Lori-I'm really glad I got it done. I've never been to a dermatologist before and I'm glad I have one to go to now. I've been following the news about the prisoners too, even though it wasn't close to me. I'm very glad that nightmare is over for everyone in that area. I can easily imagine something like that happening around here. I love Nilla's selfie!

Lynda-we had some serious winds here on Saturday too. Our power was out for several hours Saturday afternoon. We saw one tree blown over about a block away, and lots of tree branches everywhere. No plans for the 4th, maybe a long bike ride, indoors or out depending on the weather

Valerie-I hope you don't have any problems with fires near you. I can't believe people are shooting off fireworks when there is such a danger of fires starting, that is terrible.

Deb-I hope Kylee's tooth extraction goes well. I signed up for a Facebook STS Challenge starting in August.

Hi to Josie & Dawn!

Judy

Judy, good news on the skin screening. DH gets it done every year.
we may do the same on the 4th, a ride. a few hours mid day is usually OK. there is no sense at all to what people do with fireworks. there are many professional displays, but people buy packs of fireworks at many hundreds of $$ and blow them off in their yards. that is the problem with living out in the county. it's legal for certain hours on the 4th although many of the devices shot off are NOT legal. but no way to tell from a distance which is which. it's just plain stupid!

Good evening ladies!

Yesterday I decided to do Cathe Live Totally Toned Legs and it was great! Wow she really worked the legs in this one and I loved it! Today we did 21d Barre legs at lunch. We were saying today during the workout this one just does not get easier. My legs were jello after 2 days of working them. No workout tonight. :)

Josie...thanks for sharing your pictures. Is the young girl your daughter? I heard on the mews today that all the banks were closed. That is crazy!

Deb...sending good vibes that Kylee does well. We had a ton of rain yesterday too. Today started off cool but did turn out nice. I do not blame you for stopping STS. I would like to start up again but going to skip over meso 1. I like the other two. I also have been thinking about an Xtrain Hybrid. Using the weight workouts but subbing similar Live and RWH workouts for some of the others here and there just to keep the rotation constantly changing.

Judy..good news on the scan. I go for my physical on July 14th and will point out a couple of spots that look odd to me to my primary care. I completely forgot to call my Dermatologist today to book a screening. Takes forever to get an appt. where I go.

I leave Friday to go to Charlotte with my DS to visit familly and friends. It is our annual 4 of July trip to visit my Bonus Mother. My DS calls her Nana B. :) She was my mom's best friend and her and her family pretty much became our family growing up. My mom was a single mom moving into a new neighborhood and Madeline was a single mom so we all just became one large family. She moved to Charlotte several years ago and we have been visiting ever since. Missed last year due to my DH having ankle surgery. She was just told she has an abnomality on her lung :( and will be having more test and will receive the results on Thursday right before we all arrive. So whatever the outcome I am glad we all will be there for her.

Hi to Lynda, Valerie and Dawn!

Good morning & Happy Tuesday!

It was pouring again when I got up at 5:00.

Kylee came out of the surgery well, however, she is not eating now, and I am not sure if it's because her mouth hurts or she is nauseous or what. I have to have food in her for the pills or she won't keep them down. She wouldn't even eat yogurt this morning, which she loves. I finally got her to eat some of her food, and slipped a pain pill into that. Hopefully she will keep that down until it can start to work. Poor baby.

Lynda, thanks for the "flight" info. You learn something new every day or so the saying goes. No plans for the 4th here...John will probably fish at least one day of the weekend, and we will try to finish our "perennial bed reduction" project if the weather holds out.

Valerie, you can have some of this rain if you want it. :) I would stay close to home this weekend If I was you, even in the daytime. They don't need darkness for the blasting "boom" type fireworks.

Judy, good news on the screening. I tried the link and it said it wasn't available....I will try again later.

Lori, that is so nice that you go to visit your childhood "mom" each year and it will be especially good that you are there this year for her. Sending good thoughts her way for a good test result. I didn't mind Meso 1 so much in STS, but the workouts in Meso 2 were getting longer and I was subbing them with the equivalent from RHIIT so what was the point? I may start back and do what you are planning, a sort of hybrid. Sunday I did KCM's pyramid weight workout and really liked it even more the 2nd time. I may play around with the premixes on this one for weight work.

Hi to Josie, and Dawn,

I guess I will stay in today, besides the rain, I need to keep an eye on Kylee.

Take care,

Deb, you're right about it not needing to be dark but we think we can ride somewhere early, before most of the idiots get up. For sure we'll be here on the 3rd. one of the first really destructive fires burned about 2 dozen homes in Wenatchee. this is eastern WA. always worse fire danger than western, but a sad example of just how quickly something can blow up. haven't heard about a cause yet. with everything so dry, it might even be the under parts of a car getting too close to dry grass, and boom, it's off. or a discarded cigarette. it's going to be a loooong summer.

Hope your little girl feels better soon. it's not even 24 hours.

I impulsively pre ordered the new Ice series yesterday. I wasn't going to, and purposely didn't look to see what all of you decided to do. decided I can cancel if I change my mind but 7/3 is coming up soon and I only order the DVD's. haven't been doing much working out lately, relying on riding, hiking, and "heavy" gardening. I skipped the last series but intermediate level sounds good. I'm picking blueberries this morning with a friend, while DH does a ride so I should do something later to compensate.

Hi All--

This morning I did ch, sh, tris with core 1 (47:58).

Deb, poor Kylee! She must be in pain if she doesn't want to eat one of her favorites. I just received Max's Thunder Shirt today--in time for the fireworks. I hope it settles him down.

Lori, how nice to have a second Mom. I hope the news is good for her. Was she ever a smoker?

Judy, will this be the first time for you doing STS? I did it 3 times. The first time was a 6 month rotation. The last time I injured myself on meso 3 so I decided to sell the series. A lot of people swear by the strength gains, so I hope it works for you. Hmm--I wonder why moles on feet or hands are more suspicious. Maybe because of sun exposure? People are maybe not slathering on enough sunblock on their hands and feet when they are at the beach.

Valerie, I was so excited by the description of ICE I ordered it the first day. I have high hopes for this one.

Hi to Dawn and Josie!

Hi Everyone,

Last night I went to the gym with my husband and did an upper body workout. Today I spent most of the morning doing
housemax and I did a stretching session tonight.

Valerie-I preordered the ICE series too. I really like the idea of intermediate workouts. I am looking forward to them.

Deb-I hope Kylee is feeling better soon :( I'm not sure why the link didn't work. You can try searching on "STS Challenge" and it should come up that way.

Lori-It's nice that you are going to Charlotte. It sounds like a nice trip. I hope everything goes well.

Lynda-yes it will be my first time for doing STS. I've done some of the STS workouts individually but I've never done it the way it was intended. I'm hoping that being in the FB group will help motivate me. I'd love to be able to do the full series at least once. That's great that you did it 3 times!

Josie-Those were awesome photos that you sent! It looks like you had a wonderful time!

Hi to Dawn!

Judy

Deb, hope Kylee is getting back to normal. gotta give her a chance to get over the trauma and the anesthetic. Nobody, people or animal, feels good after an involved dental procedure. I wouldn't eat happily either.
I did 15 on the treadmill, then core 1 and a 35 min bi's /tri's. Still too hot here. One county has banned fireworks for this weekend and we will be calling our county fire commissioner and trying for the same. If we get some kind of info to indicate this office decides this issue, we will get as many people on board as possible. I'm thinking the pics from the Wenatchee area fire made national news. that is 120 miles from here, other side of the mountains.

Judy I've done STS at least 3 times. so many parts of it use push up moves, I'm not sure I will be able to do it again. my shoulder doesn't hurt, but I still avoid moves that involve a spot.... front inner shoulder. As long as it still is improving, I am hopeful. I work around it.

Lynda, I don't want to act like I know more than I do, but moles on palms or soles of feet are a little unusual and need to be looked at with more suspicion for melanoma. they aren't ALL potentially troublesome, but I've read that generally they should be removed or at least watched closely . those locations trigger more concern because they're hard to see. also are in a non sun related spot. your comment struck me because my friend (from yoga) who has the bad cancer.....some kind of sarcoma... had a mole on the bottom of her foot. I noticed it and mentioned it to her but she already knew it was there. ( you get to look at peoples feet a lot in yoga) no idea if it's connected to anything else but she previously had malignant melanoma. she is doing okay but I don't think she will be cured.

Lori hope it's nothing with your second mom.... all the detailed screenings can identify obscure things that are just " there" but once they're seen, it's necessary to identify them.

Good morning & Happy July!

Well it's July, and we have not had much of a summer, lots of rain and strange temps, but hey, it's better than snow right?

Kylee is doing better, not 100% but she is not in pain like yesterday. I actually had to go back to the vet for a stronger pain reliever for her.

Valerie, I heard about fires in WA yesterday, that's scary. I also ordered the ICE series the day the pre-sale started. Finally, something that has a moderator, and is intermediate. Her presales are so worth the money, even if there are DVD's that you don't like. Like Lynda, I have high hopes for this series. What are you making with the blueberries? You made a good observation, how many people fully examine the bottoms of their feet?

Lynda, I hope the thunder shirt works for Max. I am so happy that neither of these dogs has issues with thunder or fire crackers. I had 2 dogs in the past that were terrified of fire crackers and that is not fun at all.

Judy, it seems like the stretching is really helping your hip. No issues with any weight exercises any more? I will do the search on the FB page and see what's it's all about. Well shows how much I know about FB...I can't even find where you do a search!

Hi to Lori, Josie and Dawn,

Little chauffer type errands today, taking John to drop off his car this morning, then taking my cousin to the airport this afternoon....People are enjoying my retirement as much as me!

Take care,

Deb-just type "STS Challenge" in the box to the left of the magnifying glass icon. Here is a screen shot.

Sorry....I must be FB challenged....I get some music thing when I type STS to the left of the magnifying class on Cathe's FB page.

see below

Hi all--

This morning I did RK with 1 lb. gloves.

Deb, the thunder shirt is a very complicated piece of 'clothing'. We are going to have to figure out how to put it on first. Last night and this morning lots of thunder, but we couldn't get the darn thing on for cripes' sake. Max enjoyed all the attention though. Much hilarity.

Valerie, thanks for the information. So it's really the palms and soles which are problematic? Interesting. Sorry about your friend.

We went to see "Jurassic World" last night. It was very scarily entertaining even though quite predictable. We all know that messing with Mother Nature is inevitably going to lead to Frankenstein monster problems, don't we? So if you cross a velociraptor with a tyrannosaurus rex and add a bit of cuttlefish ability to change color for camouflage, you get a--well, you know--something really big and smart and hard to see until it's too late. As summer blockbusters go, I much prefer this to all the Marvel comic heroes.

It turns out one of those escapees from the Clinton correctional facility (the one who was killed) was a very fine artist. They showed some of his paintings and they were beautiful.
