Good morning. I'm posting this saturday night so we can leave early in the morning if it's dry out.

we did serious garden work yesterday after it was raining again saturday morning. sigh.... it cleared off later in the morning but DH and I were already into another project. we pruned shrubs and then raked up all the trimmings and hauled them to the compost area. DH got the mower stuck in some soft ground so I had to push him out. wow. that was tough! makes me nervous with the tires spinning but I got it moving again.
Carolyn hope you are continuing to improve.

whoopee not raining even though its cloudy. going anyway.

Good morning. Today I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice. I did seated versions of some of the overhead stretching. I have realized that lifting my arms overhead pulls on the muscles down the side of my thigh. It felt good to do some light stretching.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

back from pour ride. this one is 23 miles, took 2 hrs 11 minutes. we were early and traffic was lighter than usual. we fit in a bathroom /snack stop at the mid point with only a few brief stops to shake out hands, have issues with my hands getting numb from pressure. 30 second stops when needed. tried every glove and nothing makes any difference except brief stops every 5 or so miles.

Carolyn as long as it's improving!. do you have any clue what move caused this discomfort for you?

No workout today as I didn't sleep well. Hopefully tonight will be better. Valerie glad you were able to get a nice ride in today. Carolyn good that you were able to do yoga this morning even if you needed to adapt some of it. Hopefully stretching will help the sore area.

I’m still taking it easy. I am judging my progress based on how it feels to walk. I’m not limping as much, but not back to normal.

Valerie, I can’t identify a specific move that caused my problem, but I think it was some lateral cardio movement. Because I was having the low back discomfort I might have been trying to compensate for that and was not careful with my form for cardio.

Cathy, glad that you had a back up dvd to use for your workout.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

Today I did a 4 mile run. I'm hoping to run 2-3 times a week and start increasing my distance soon.

Carolyn-Good job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga Morning Energy practice. It sounds like you are making progress. I hope you are back to normal soon.

Cathy-Nice job with RWH Low Impact Hiit One. I like having DVDs as back up when technology doesn't work as it's supposed to.

Valerie-Nice job with the garden work and riding! Garden season is winding down at HD. It's still fairly busy but not like it was a couple of weeks ago.

I have been busy. No workouts over the weekend. Saturday we walked all over an amusement park with my grandson. Yesterday I did Walk Strong Step and and stride from Burn Fat and Have Fun, 30 minutes, heart rate 129/154, 3,607 steps, 164 calories. I then did some strength work doing Ice Muscle Meltdaown Biceps and PT exercises, 40 minutes, heart rate 88/117, 106 calories, 160 steps. This was 70 minutes Total time, 270 calories, 3,767 steps. I used 8 and 10# dumbbells for biceps. Today I did not do a work out. I had terrible neck pain and headache. Hardly had any sleep as my grandson wanted to play Oklahoma Monopoly. It was late when we finally stopped and went to bed. We finished it this afternoon. I got up planning on going to my ladies group day as we were going to do card making. I just couldn't get going. Also, my dog was sick and came to get me up at 1 am. I had only been asleep an hour. Then I laid awake worrying about her being sick and also I left the back door open so she could get out the doggie door. Hopefully I can get something in tomorrow. I would like to get some legs in.

I'm pretty sure everyone has seen the house falling into the yellowstone river by now. happy to say it wasn't my house! we live right in the middle of the mess. near Emigrant. watching bridges fall in real time on monday was truly unnerving and that was via cell phone video. can't imagine being there in person. we know every inch of the area. every road, every bridge. monday was an awful day.

we were loading our camper to head over there today but for obvious reasons, didn't go. we CAN get to our house. no flood damage. we are miles from the river. we need to get thru damaged areas to get there. we are thinking maybe this weekend, with stops along the way to allow time for repairs to get made. many repairs, especially in the park are a big project and will take time but we dont need to go that far. we also don't want to add to traffic problems with marginal road conditions. people need to get to work, groceries, medical appts etc. the local hospital was evacuated.
still, need to check our house, make sure things are working. our cameras and thermostat aren't. think it's internet connection. power was out for a brief flicker, according to neighbors. we have exchanged emails, mainly texts. still, if our refrigerator or thermostat died, we cant wait months to find out. getting a back up refrigerator is probably going to be put off until more normal road conditions are restored.
needless to say, all our summer plans got abruptly rearranged. I feel so bad for all the people who lost everything! getting vacation plans upended is minor compared to that.

Valerie, I‘m so glad that your property is safe. I was going to ask if your house was affected by the flooding. It’s so frightening to see. I can’t imagine what it’s like for the people who are there.

Diane Sue, great job with Stride and Step, Muscle Meltdown Biceps, and your PT exercises.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Yesterday I did Cardio Glutes and Core. Really good workout! After having so many issues with my connector to the TV to play stuff, I just used my iPad for that and again today when I did Jabs and Kicks. That one is okay, but some of the combos just really don't flow naturally between movements. There are a few workouts like kickboxing workouts like that.

Valerie I did see that video and it really is a horrific tragedy. Sorry that your plans have gotten messed up because of it. I hope you are able to get there and that everything is okay with your house.

Carolyn it sounds like you are making progress. It's easy to try and compensate movements when an area is bothering us and create new problems. BTDT with my knee issues long ago.

Judy nice job with the 4 mile run!

Diane Sue it sounds like it's been very challenging for you to get workouts in lately. Great job on getting them in when you can. We have a number of the opoly games and we never just play a full game straight through. Either we play it with a time limit or we stop the game, make notes for everything and pick up later. And Nick is freakishly good at it. The kid plays in an absolutely crazy manner throwing all caution to the wind, making what seem to be illogical decision and wins far more often than not. I hope your dog is okay now.

Today I did a 4 mile run. I'm planning on doing some strength work tomorrow and another run on Friday. The weather has been very nice this week.

Valerie-that flooding in Montana is just horrible! I'm so glad that your home was not affected. I hope you can get there safely.

Carolyn-I hope your back is better. I've been running outside.

Diane Sue-Great job with Walk Strong Step and and stride and the Muscle Meltdown. I've been struggling to get strength training in the past couple of weeks. I need to get a leg workout in again soon. I hope your dog is ok today.

Cathy-Great job with Cardio Glutes and Core and Jabs & Kicks.

I wrote this this morning, and it didnt post until tonight for some reason. sorry i havent read your posts, been all preoccupied with our problems.

we did a road ride this morning, 25 miles 2 hrs 15 minutes.

carolyn we've spent time in the yellowstone area for 40 years, more so recently, so it was incredibly upsetting to see how quickly everything went to hell. we were already watching the weather forecast because it was scary for sunday. many times forecasts are 'worst case scenarios" and often turn out to be overblown. this time it was not! we wouldn't have gone during bad weather but were hoping to go tuesday or wed, assuming things would be settled down by then. well, no, not this time. this will be a long agonizing process.

This morning I went to the grocery store in person. That was more walking at one time than I have done in the past 10 days. My leg was a bit achy after I got home. Still too soon for sustained lower body movement like that.

Cathy, nice job with Cardio, Glutes, and Core and Jabs and Kicks.

Judy, great job with the 4 mile run. I’m glad that you have nice weather. This is our second day of temperatures in the 98-100 range and heat index of 100+. My problem is more the ligaments/tendons on the sides of my thigh than the actual back. It is getting better, but nowhere near healed.

Valerie, nice job with the 25 mile road ride. It sounds like the recovery in Montana is definitely going to take a while.

Hello to Diane Sue. I‘m sure that you are enjoying the time with your grandson.

we did another ride this morning., our 15 mile one. did it in 1 hr 3 minutes. we are going as fast as is reasonable, and I doubt we can take much off that time. there are intersections and other people. always some purposeful slow- downs without long stops. I am "saddle sore" starts to interfere if I ride several days in a row.

wow carolyn, that is quite the irritation! smart to keep taking it slow until it settles down. those are some seriously unpleasant temps. I start having problems even in the 80's. its usually not humid here. I never did well in heat. I seem to not sweat enough to help cool myself. its a reason why I live where I do. I could not stand the heat and humidity in the midwest.
judy that's a terrific run. I used to enjoy running a lot but my running days are done. I can still do it, but not often enough or long enough. better to focus on less impact.

cathy, speaking of technical difficulties, we had a long power out at our house yesterday evening. when power came back our camera and thermostat rebooted and are back online working fine. we were ready to buy a new router to take with us because no nearby store in MT to get a router.
interestingly, I tried to check stock at Best Buy for routers. no one answers the phone! similar to my Home Depot experience. the BB stores here are 5 miles, and next, 20 miles away. if you have the SKU number you can tap that in. online will say if its in stock. then you decide whether that is accurate or not. I get the feeling this is the future, where you get endless ringing or a busy signal instead of getting a person to verify stock.

Today I did Coffey Fit Just Step 4, 31 minutes, 120/147, 148 calories, 2,924 steps. She said this was the cardio portion with egg weights(optional) of another workout that has legs in it. I am not sure which one that is, but I liked this cardio and the music was pretty good. I then did CDorner wrist friendly mobility stretch, 31 minutes, heart rate 74/96, 41 calories. I finished with PT exercises, but did not use the Garmin as the battery was low and I forgot to charge it. Chris has been adding some relax segments to the end of her latest mobility workouts. I just started some of my PT stretches while she laid on the floor. I did like the stretches and movement in this one and she puts in wrist stretches and movement. This was late in the day as things just did not go well. I woke too early as my grandson wanted to watch The Longest Day and it is 3 hours!! Amazed that the 11 year old sat through it. I finally left him to finish the last 30 minutes and went to bed at 1. I tried going back to sleep, but kept thinking of things I needed to do. Finally got a late morning nap and then worked out. This evening I discovered that my junipers have bag worms and stayed outside picking them off till dark. So I ordered some stuff to spray them with which should be here tomorrow. I ache after the workout and yard work I did. I had my grandson out helping pull grass out. My shoulder hurts for some reason.

Valerie, I am sorry all of that happened. Hopefully the cleanup and repair is not too long. That is good that you have neighbors that you can check with to get some information.

Carolyn, I hope you continue to mend. It sure does not take much to over compensate or just move a bit wrong and set something off.

Judy, nice work on the 4 mile run. I am trying to concentrate on getting the strength work in. The surgeon said to keep working on strengthening the rotator cuff and the doctor told me I need to do workouts to build up the bone in my hip that has thinned. I need strength training. So shorter cardios are in store so I can get the strength even if short and mobility stuff in. Next week I hopefully will have more time.

Cathy, my granddaughter that just got married is ruthless when she plays. How she wins most of the time is puzzling. I told my grandson next time we try one of the game plans that is shorter. I should have thought when I saw the shorter games would be 60 to 90 minutes. One was using 9 tiles and 3 houses instead of 4 for maximum rent. I think my dog is okay. She sure laid around in between outdoor trips and I was trying to encourage water. Tonight she was playing and acting herself so I gave her a small amount of her dog food with rice and water and it seemed to set okay. Yesterday I gave her Pepcid after reading some pet sites and the day before Immodium. Just had to cut out most food.

Good afternoon. Valerie, it’s good that you were able to ride. You definitely would not like our weather here. There are times that I don’t like it and this is one of those weeks. Today is another dangerously hot day. We had to go out briefly this morning and the heat just drains all of my energy.

Diane Sue, nice job with Coffeyfit Just Step, CDORNER Mobility Stretch.

Hello to Judy and Cathy.

No workout yesterday because I shopped and then no workout this morning because I didn't fall asleep until at least 1:30 and I had a tire rotation this morning. Total self sabotage. Around 9:30-9:45 I was really tired could hardly keep my eyes open and instead of just going to bed, I kept doing things and boom wide awake. Ugh

Judy great job with the running. It's been rather hot for outside running. Are you doing mornings?

Valerie sounds like you are getting in some good rides. Do you know when you'll be able to head to MT? If I need something from Best Buy I usually buy it on line for pick up at store, so I know it's there.

Carolyn I'm sorry your pain is continuing. It's so rough when you are used to being active. I hope it doesn't take much longer to heal.

Diane Sue nice job with the step, mobility and PT exercises. The short version of Monopoly we do (we have like 7-8 versions and none the original game) is to deal out a few of the properties, and set a time limit.

Today I did CDorner Cardio to the Beat low impact, 24 minutes, heart rate 129/153, 127 calories, 2,300 steps. I then did Kelly Coffey Super Sculpt premix Drills and Band 31 minutes, 141 calories using a heavy band and 2# dumbbells, 2,431 steps. I used the strength setting on my Garmin and I should have used cardio as this felt more cardio. Total time today was 55 minutes, 268 calories, 4,731 steps. I will be preparing for Sunday family day tomorrow and Sunday morning.

Carolyn, it is really hot here too. Upper 90's most of the week. When we went to the amusement park it got up to 100. It is too hot to do much outside.

Cathy, your night sounds like mine. I wanted to go to bed earlier last night and somehow my grandson had me put in another movie and I kept doing things around the house and ended up in bed after one again. I woke early so stiff and sore so took something for it and laid back in the recliner. I am hoping not to repeat this again tonight as I have to be up when the lawn guys come and I always try to get the dog out early. My husband is off so he can entertain :) I did see a version on this Monopoly game where you drew 3 properties to start. I think time limits can be a good thing.
