Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 6/11

I used to use collage too, but never got back after they closed down and then reopened. I saw Cathe's workouts first on
FitTV which has long since disappeared.. then I saw her on collage but I think I always ordered directly from her. I tried a couple other people but things were too dance-y. so I quit looking once I found someone who I could work with.

I did High Reps again today, along with a whole giant load of shopping for picky little things for our house. little things like utility knives, razor blade scrapers for the stove top, laundry bags. little stuff that you need but don't come to mind right away. I will do HR a few more times at least. it gets the job done in minimal time and I feel well worked and using lighter weights but more reps and lots of partials, I think there is a low chance of injury. Hip was fine today.

we are using IE. I have chrome and can switch if I need to. we use outlook express for email, and it is trying to upgrade us but the upgrade doesn't work. it keeps locking up the entire system so you can't even shut it down without dramatics. I would hate to need to change email addresses!. \

Lori hope it works out with the cataracts. my sister got them fairly young and she has T2 diabetes but she has questionable blood sugar control and doesn't exercise. she takes a huge load of medicine for other things. It used to be "big deal" surgery but is not so much anymore. I remember when people had surgery and had to commit to bed rest without movement for weeks! now .it's in and out. still, anything messing with your vision you want to be careful and thoughtful. My DH has cataracts developing and he is 7 yrs younger but he also grew up in CA with a lot of sun. so it's age related but other factors also.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday, but I have the new Live Metabolic that Cathe did yesterday on my "to do" list for today. I love her metabolic workouts. :)

Valerie, nice hike, sorry about the hip pain though. Have you ever tried taking some type of glucosamine chondroitin? Some onions really do a number on me, tears flowing etc. I guess there are some that don't do that but I am not aware of which those are.

Diane Sue, awwww...that was really nice of your husband to bring you a rose and chocolate. I have not seen either of those movies. I need to check out and see if they are available on Prime. It seems like that tea is helping you sleep. I also wear a mask and although it takes getting used to, I think it helps. I am going to search around for the tea. It seems like a lot of people are using Google Chrome. I have always used IE too. When I was having computer problems and the techs ( like from HP) took over my computer remotely, they always used Chrome to access the net.

Carolyn, good job following Cathe's rotation. :). Like Diane Sue, I really liked looking at the ratings of the videos at Collage.

Lori, wow, I did not read that Cathe will be adding Fit Tower workouts to her Live ones...that's great. :).
Forgot all about the Collage catalog! I used to do the same. Gigi is so cute with how she loves being in water. I could not use Live without your list! :)

A workout, then processing dog's food today...

Anything planned for the weekend?

Take care,

Deb I take glucosamine every day. Bursitis is a soft tissue inflammation not bone or joint wear and tear. Doesn't make it hurt less! Just a nagging pain that comes and goes, but seems to bother me most walking uphill. NSAIDS settle it down so will take them for a while and do regular less difficult hikes.
I'm putting in a link to a story the Seattle times just ran. I do not suggest DH and ever did anything on this scale but it is the area we spend much of our vacation time all our lives and why we live here. im very familiar with the places shown and mentioned. The trip these guys made is just incredible so I hope you enjoy the pictures they just finished it about two weeks ago.

as you can see there is a lot of snow as this finished in early june.

ETA I am reminded by Carolyn's following post that I didn't mention this...
Diane sue.. hope your eyes are better today. dilating is so unpleasant especially if its a bright sunny day. that was so very sweet of your husband.

Today I did Lower Body Blast. Workout time was 58 minutes with 397 calories burned. My average heart rate was 127 and maximum heart rate was 161. I worked out earlier than usual because we had a contractor coming by at 9:00. He needed to make a small adjustment on our new front door. It didn't take long at all for that. Now I am waiting for the plumber.

I enjoyed the Collage Video catalogs as well. I browsed them just like I did my magazines.

Valerie, that's an amazing skiing adventure in the newspaper story. I hope the bursitis is better today.

Deb, Cathe's live Metabolic Meltdown reminded me of Supercuts that I did yesterday. That sit up/push up combination that she does at the end of Supercuts was included. I think I would enjoy it. Several of the recent live workouts look really good.

Lori, I saw Cathe's post about getting Fit Towers for the gym and having some Live workouts with it. That will be nice.

Diane Sue, that was so thoughtful of your husband! You have reminded me that I need to schedule an eye appointment. I have delayed it because I want to find another eye doctor. I have been seeing the same person for years, but I don't really care for him. I need to get busy finding someone new.

Hi to Judy.

This morning I did Jari Love Extremely Ripped 1000, 79 minutes (this is a bit longer because had to let Gertie in and out during the workout) average heart rate 131/max 172, 548 calories. This would come out to a met value of 6.5 which I don't think is accurate for how hard I was working. I did the step option and generally stayed with the higher weights and more advanced moves. There was a couple of should segments that I kept at the 5# Jari and the other women used since even the advanced one in the back was using 5 , I figured I would be in trouble with more. I remember doing this one quite a lot though. That was all I did. I got ready to go over to my daughters and she ended up not having daycare today since they left on vacation so took the grandchildren swimming. She is coming for dinner in a little while. This gave me a chance to do some household tasks and run to Sprouts. I needed baking items for Sunday. I didn't realize till I made something for my husband last night. Besides it was a good excuse to pick up some more kombucha tea. I really want some more of the ginger Kevita but they are out. I got that brand in pineapple and peach which is good. It has the ginger bite to it and not to sweet. Some coffee bean in it as well as black tea. I liked it. I did try the Tart Cherry but was not impressed.

Valerie, I kept the IE as well. I have used IE from the start almost and always used Yahoo for my email. Of course with my android phone and tablet I also have a gmail account that I do not use other than for my google apps. etc.. I am not prone to liking change very much , but with constant updates and changes being made things do not work like they used to. You never know when something is going to cause a conflict with something else. I remember when we first purchased the fifth wheel that we used to have. So many things to buy to stock it. We got one of those pop up hampers to store in the closet. It was handy when we came home and would just collect laundry from where the laundry shoot went down from the bathroom. We kept a basket there. Stocking the kitchen as well and we kept coming up with additions. Also buying things like toasters and blenders. Lots of things to think about. My mother used to take be pollen all of the time swearing it helped her bursitis. I am not sure if it helps inflammation or not. Maybe Curcumin/Tumeric would. I had a bakers cyst when they fixed my torn miniscus. I will check your link out when I am done here. I think I may get dumped off of here before I finish posting. I cannot scroll up or down right now.

Carolyn, my husband does thoughtful things like that. Although he was also holding up my sunglasses when I cam stumbling out the door blinded by the sun. I needed the exam it has been about 9 years since my last eye exam and that is when I had laser surgery. My doctor was encouraging me to just for eye health. I really hadn't thought much about it till I started having the floater in my right eye. I used to always go to one of those optometrists in the mall to get my eyes checked. At one point I had used a ophthalmologist who was a lot better but cost more out of pocket. So, finding this eye place was nice and the family all really like him. He is close to our house as well which is a plus. The plus of owning a home is dealing with the plumbers and fixing things. It seems like it never ends.

Valerie, the solitude of being in all of that open space and beauty would be breathtaking. It looks cold though and I don't know about sleeping in a tent in that. It would be a real high and the low point would be coming back home to the noise and bustle. I can see why they left the phone off an extra day.

The bursitis disappeared by the time we drove home. I am hopeful it will taper off gradually as long as I don't do anything extreme. it has not been a long term issue and it backed down quickly this time.

I hope you all enjoy the pics. I wish I could have done a trip like that but I struggled with downhill skiing. I tried and did uphill reasonably well, we've worn out several pairs of climbing skins, but never could do downhill. crash and get up, crash and get up, crash some more. I still enjoy watching someone else live it. these guys did a very well thought out and prepared trip and had the skills and equipment to deal. not for novices. yes, it would have been cold but more a moisture problem. it's hard to do anything that strenuous for hours and hours and not get sweaty and there is no way to dry out easily. proper gear and not working up too much of a sweat. even in the summer, much of this country is remote. really!

Good morning ladies,

Yesterday was SB's Total Body Classic Barre in the morning. 35m. I had an early morning Doctors appt and lab work so this was all I had time for. In the evening I did a couple of Bellicon Hiit Bounces 31m. Just looked at my steps yesterday and it was 17,520. Amazes me how bouncing does this!

Deb...Today's workout will be Cathe's newest Live Metabolic workout. It looks really great to me too. Can't wait for us to see how we like it. Things are a little calmer at work for a bit so hoping I can keep my liste updated. Went too long last time.

Valerie...the pictures are amazing. Thank you for sharing. Great the bursitis disapearred as quickly as it came. You are very fortunate that it did not linger. I went for my A1C yesterday along with other lab work. Hoping I am still in check with everything. Fingers crossed.

Diane Sue...I always drive my self home after a dilation if you can believe that! As long as I have my dark prescription sunglasses I have no problem. I usually have the test in the morning and go straight to work afterwards. This time I did it later in the day to go stratight home afterwards. I did like this better. I keep my sunglasses on for several hours afterwards though. I am not thrilled at all having a cataract and the thought of surgery makes me anxious. I will not let it go to long. When my doctors says it is time then I will have it done. Hoping the new prescription helps with my night driving. I have been wearing an eye mask for a few years and love it! It started out to protect my eyes from Chester. He used to pounce on us in the morning and hit me in the eyes a couple of times. Now I wear it because I love how it keeps the light out and I am used to it. I feel lost with out it.

Carolyn...I love LBB and do not know why I do not do it more often. Have you done the leg conditioning/barre bonus at all? I think I have done that section a million times! It is really good as an add on. I loved the ratings in the catalog. I am going to go on line and see what it is all about now. Haven't looked it it since the changed over. Maybe my opion will change.

Any plans for the weekend? Weather is kind of gloomy. We are going to try and put up our 15ft pool we bought last year. My husband and I had so much fun in this little pool. . Would love it all set for Fathers day so Bob can float all day if he chooses!

Have a great day all!

Hello Everyone,
Today is a rest day. I was scheduled to do an upper body workout but I decided against it. I went to the hair salon this morning and now I am taking it easy. There is some rain in the area and the skies look threatening here.

Lori, I have done the leg conditioning drills from LBB. I really like that segment and I agree it makes a good add on.

I hope you all have a great afternoon.

Today, I did URX-MT Gay Gasper Total Body Metabolic Conditioning on the rebounder. This one is does not have much of the jumping off and on the rebounder. There is some jumping onto it in one segment but most off the rebounder stuff is stepping off and balance work. 51 minutes, 413 calories, heart rate was avg. 153/max 188 :O . I then did You Tube Amy Bento Ross Cardio Karate, first 2 combo segments and forwarded to the end and did the core/ab work with the sand weights and stretch. 47 minutes 240 calories. Heart rate average for this was 124. I pushed done before I checked the heart rate on the Fit Bit so I only have the app to go by. I kind of liked this one. It is an hour and 2 minutes and it was getting towards noon and I had cakes to make and work to do for tomorrow. It was kind of fun. A little different from a regular kickboxing workout.. I wonder when Amy is going to get her rebounding workouts on there. Total time was 98 minutes and calories burned 655. Steps for this workout was 7,262. I should break 10,000 today.
I saw that Kelly was looking for help doing the digital work and stuff. I think she is looking to improve her You Tube type of workouts.

Lori, I do not think I would have wanted to drive home with my sunglasses on. I should have thought to take my sunglasses in with me. They said they could give me some to get out to the car if I needed it. The eye mask is really helping me because I wake up as soon as daylight starts filtering through the cracks of my black out curtains. I should have purchased a wrap around rod. Also, if I go to bed first I leave the night light part of the lamp on for my husband. You really do get a lot of steps with your bouncing :) I don't think I will get that many today though but, I did better than I do with a lot of workouts.

Carolyn, enjoy your rest day. I think after a hair appointment I would just want to relax as well. We could use some rain where we are. They have had more in other parts of the state, but it keeps missing us. It has been in the 90's and dry. I keep going out in the evenings to water the grass in back for a bit. I think it is supposed to cool off a little tomorrow. I don't mind some showers, but I do not like threatening looking weather.

Here is a video my husband's cousin did for John's Killer Protien She is beautiful and so strong. Wanted to share with you. I am inspired by her!
