Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 5/22

Good morning,

Slept in today, very tired for some reason. I hope to catch up on sleep this weekend, if it rains, which it probably will. It's raining right now and has been all night.

Garance, which Zumba DVD do you want? It is probably available on Ebay as a single. Let me know and if it's there and you like the price, I can get it for you.

Josie, if you think you may want the Spinning DVD, I will wait before listing it anywhere. I didn't realize you had a spin bike at home.

Valerie, I guess that insurance package is only available through a group plan of some kind? We have a health savings account available at work too, they call it a Flexible Spending Account, works the same. I hate Florida too, have only been there twice. I guess I did not give it a real chance, I am sure there are times when it is beautiful. I just don't like humidity, and it is very humid there, as you said.

What's up this weekend?

I slept in late too, took a Tylenol PM at 2:30 and slept until DH woke me up about 5:30.

Did disk 23 and a segment of Coremax yesterday. as expected, it's too long since I did a leg disk and I'm sore today. Got thru the disk itself without struggling & without decreasing weights. but this is predictable, got to do it weekly or pay the price. so I'm sore but it's not ridiculous. one disk left in meso 2 although I think I compromised any gains by spreading it out so much. but it could not be helped.

the company DH works for must benefit from the health care plan too, because they have made it more attractive each year by adding things to it. we will stay with it as long as DH works there. It's a shock to the system to pay full price for office visits and medications, but when you add it up it's still a lot cheaper than the annual cost of a full coverage plan. you pay a huge premium for those discounts. DH is talking more and more about retirement mostly because he wants more time off to do things.

The company I worked for liked florida for national sales meetings. went to orlando twice, miami area twice for 4-5 days at a time. all the bigwigs liked golf. I'm allergic to grass. in fact trying to learn to golf is how I figured out what I was allergic to! if I take enough antihistamines to breathe and stop sneezing, I'm too sleepy to stay upright. My hair frizzed. even away from grass, I had a headache and couldn't breathe from the minute I got off the plane. going back and forth from air conditioning to none made me feel awful.

My neighbor does Zumba and has lost a lot of weight. I prefer to work out by myself, non-dancey. spinning is something I might like and I might look into that further. I have a stationary bike that is at least 30 yrs old. Still works great but if it breaks I doubt it would be worth repairing.

we are hoping to get in some cycling and maybe a xc ski this weekend. What's everyone else doing?

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Skinny Sculpt (45 min.).

Gee it feels good to be done with those papers! Some nice summer weather coming up, so I'm planning on enjoying this holiday and catching up on stuff around the house.

Deb, that would be great if I could get a couple of the new Zumba dvds from the Exhilarate series, but it's pretty new. I looked at their website, and I guess I would want Activate, Exhilarate, and Fitness Concert. There are 7 dvds in all for 89.95, but the last thing I need is another pair of those ridiculous rattles.

Off to get my mammogram this afternoon.

I've visited my inlaws in Florida in November and March and found the weather pretty nice at those times. I've just heard how oppressive it gets from June through September.

Enjoy the holiday, ladies!

oh deb, and we are PRAYING FOR RAIN. we haven't had any substantial rain for almost 6 mo. it is really bad here, and it is 99' today. we got 1/2" 2 weeks ago and that is it. our grass is brown and crunchy and it is not even summer yet. yep, traildoggie, i'd rather live here than in florida. we do have humidity too, but no thanks, i have NO desire to go to florida. so, please send us your rain.
well, i hope it is low impact, but then, i'm such a dork, i ordered body max 2. i think that is the name. i like the old body max, and the new one looks really good. i'm so dumb. i did body max the other day and it was not too bad. i mean it is hard, but i don't remember tons of hi=impact.

now workout today. grandkids here and we rode til we got so hot we almost melted. so , we are in now watching veggie=tales

Hi Ladies,

No workout for me today. Today is dinner and a Manhattan for me. Tomorrow I will be spinning and a visit to the eye doctor. Sunday I plan on doing a 45 mile ride with my Long Beach riding team, this is their send out ride before the Aids Life Cycle. On Monday I will be Spinning and Zumba.

Garance, If you get those maraca things again with your new order of Zumba, I will buy them from you. Our instructor is starting a new class on Thursdays using the weights for a more balanced workout.

Deb, I don't have a spinning bike, but I do have a trainner for my road bike that turns my bike into a spinning bike.

Cathy, I'm glad that you are back with us. I'm with you about living in Florida, I'm used to the dry weather.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Josie

cathy... if I could forward some rain, I sure would do it. it is wet, wet, WET. In case anyone forgets, this is what a La Nina weather pattern is.
I don't mind rain but this is too much. all the rain plus the melting snow... not even too fast yet... and there is more water than anyone knows what to do with. Fortunately, in a way, the cold temps have made this less of a mess than it could be. once temps come up the massive snow pack will make for more runoff. dams are full and they're releasing as much as possible to have space for the spring run off which is just getting going.

Lynda, hope the mamm went OK. I always sweat bullets until I get those results back.

Josie, I used to have a turbo trainer. I think I took the front wheel off the bike and then put the bike on a rack device , and then I could use it indoors like a stationary bike. the trouble with it was it was LOUD and I couldn't watch TV when I used it. Otherwise it was nice. Do you have something like that?

Garance,

are these the ones? It seems like if you bought all 3, it would come to almost as much as the set costs? I am not sure if these are original, hopefully not bootleg, but I don't know how you can tell. I would look at the feedback and make sure it is at least 99% with a lot of items sold.

Let me know what you think....

to do on my list, but hey, I have 3 days to get it done!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the day!

Hi Deb--

I think I might go ahead and buy the set of Zumba Exhilarate since it looks like I would be paying quite a bit for single dvds. I'm going to wait awhile, though, because I'm interested in the nw Kari Anderson dvds, especially the dancy one.

Sunny and warm here today. Lots of gardening on the agenda this afternoon. I did Housemax this morning and just went to buy a canister vacuum with a Sears Memorial Day sale.

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday! I will check in tomorrow. Probably P-57 vol. 2.
