Good morning,

I am going to do a workout today if it kills me. I have to get back into it, all I am doing is eating junk and not buring any of it off...ugh...

Valerie, did you try Amazon for the strivectin? I have been using Garnier BB cream in place of moisturizer/sunscreen and it is a light foundation as well. I like it a lot. I use DHC cleansing oil to wash my face and it removes make up and everything. It is an oil, but not oily, if that makes sense. Leaves your skin nice and soft, and I sometimes don't put anything on after using it at night.

Garance, right now on Ebay, the best deal for the Essential C is $50 ( inc shipping)...I can get one of these or wait for a lower price..how quickly do you want it?

Going to do some stuff around here after the workout, cooking for Keegan, laundry etc...maybe get an hour in the garden weeding...ugh...not my favorite thing to do....

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

Nice weekend here in New England. Took Chester for a 4 mile walk yesterday and it was nice enough for him to go for a swim so he was a happy doggie. Plan to do the same at some point today. I also did disc 18 back and bis. This one flys by for me. Absolutely loving STS.

Church this morning then grocery shopping. DH and I are planning to buy a new grill today.

Deb...everyone goes thru little slumps like you are going thru. You'll get back into. Do you have any workouts that have no dread factor or an easy workout just to get you moving. Even if it is for 20 minutes sometimes that's all you need to start things up again.

Have a great Sunday all!

Good Morning Ladies,

Deb- I agree with Lori, sometimes I can break out of a slump by just doing a short workout, like 20 minutes. I hope you do have good workout today.

I have to confess that skin care is an area that I have neglected lately. I need to get back into it. I have used Glymed Plus products before, but not consistently. I think it's time for me to get on a regular program.

Has anyone done Cycle Max or Xtrain Ride? When I do indoor cycling workouts I usually use Spinervals, but I'd like to try one of the Cathe rides.

The past couple of days I've been doing spring cleaning and yesterday DH and I spent the day taking care of my father in law's house and yard. FIL is 83 and has congestive heart failure. He fell last summer and since then has relied on DH and I to take care of his yard, housekeeping and laundry. He is able to get his own groceries and prepare his meals. We also set up his medicine tray every week, as he is on numerous prescriptions. Not sure how much longer he will be able to live on his own, as he does also have dementia/memory issues and often gets confused. My sister in law lives in Colorado, so she really can't help much, but she has been trying to visit more often recently.

Today we are hoping to take the bikes out and get a ride in. We have been blessed with perfect weather this weekend.

Have a great Sunday!

Judy

Hi all,

I ended up doing Cardio Leg Blast, the whole thing, which I have neve done before. I modified some of the high impact moves, but at least got through the whole workout. I hope I can walk tomorrow. :)

Lori, I would like to take the dogs for a longer walk, would have to choose one, and go alone because with DH's balance issues, he walks very slowly and not really any kind of work involved. Keegan needs to move faster, he could lose a few pounds. Maybe I'll take him later if DH goes fishing this afternon.

Judy, I do not have a spin bike, so have sold both Cathe Spin workouts to Josie when they come in a set like the last 2. I have read nothing buy positive comments on them, Valerie can add here..she and her DH do them.

Well more stuff to do around here....

Will check back later..

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did disk 16 for ch, sh, tris (64 min.). I have also been taking Max for a 3 mile walk after dinner. It's halfway downhill and halfway uphill, so I feel like I burn off my dinner pretty well. I'm huffing on the way back because it's pretty darn steep.

Deb, I use Garnier BB foundation too and really like it. I put on the essential-C first, let it absorb, and then the Garnier. I still have half a jar of the essential-C, so I could wait a little while to see if you can find a better deal. I like Cardio Leg Blast with some modifications, too. I like the warmup song a lot--it energizes me. Good for you on getting a workout in today.

Lori, yesterday was gorgeous but today is drizzly. Darn--I wanted to start planting my zinnias and nasturtiums and putting together my hanging plants. I did finally dig out this massive burdock weed from one of my perennial gardens. Talk about a nasty plant. I thought I would be digging my way to China by the time I pulled it out.

Valerie, I loved Silver Linings Playbook and all of the performances. I thought both Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor should have gone to Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro.

Send some of that good weather here, Judy!

Hi to Josie and hope all is better with the shingles!

Hi back again today!

Good for you Deb for doing cardio leg blast! That is a great workout. Really enjoy that one.

I love taking Chester for his walks. It was beautiful this morning. We went out at 8am and went 3 miles plus he swam a bit. I have hills galorie...up, down, up, down and so on. It turns into a great work out especially having Chester pull me like a rag doll. I think I have mentioned he is 110lbs and extremely strong. This was my only workout today. Which is just fine.

Turned rainy by mid afternoon. Oh well. Morning was really nice.

Judy...I have Ride and Cycle Max. I have only done Ride and I love it. I have nothing to compare it to as I have only had a spin bike since mid march and this is all I have done. I have the downloads and I keep forgetting to put cycle max on my Ipad. That is why I have yet to do it. :)

Have a great night!

Good morning friends,

Here it is Monday again....lovely. At least I did a workout today, so I am happy about that. 20 minutes with my gal pal Grace and one of the xTrain bis & tris premixes. I am trying to do a cardio/weight mix on the days that I can.

Garance, I did do those jumping up moves on to the step in the Cardio Leg Blast workout and just about killed my knees...lesson learned...do you plant Giant Zinnias? they are so great for cut flowers.

Lori, where do you go that Chester can swim? That is so great. Did you get the new grill? We got a Weber last year and John is so thrilled with it...he is obsessed with cleaning it each time we use it.

Hi to Valerie and Josie,

Work, then class tonight, it will be a long one...it's called the Progress match, where we are tested to see what we have learned...it goes on and on and on....

Later...

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Pure Spice (57 min.).

Deb, yes, the big tall State Fair zinnias. They are great for bouquets, although I always must stake them or they droop. I do the jumping with only one set of risers, never with 3 or even 2 like Cedie. I would just end up falling I think.

I have another writing commission--a very long essay for a collection of photographs by a wonderful artist. Instead of getting money, I asked her if I could have one of her pieces and she said yes. Very happy about that.

Lori, I bet Chester gives you a great workout. Max is about 60 lbs. and very sensitive to my gait, although I have one of those leashes which extend really far. Game of Thrones was really, really good last night.

Back to work here.

Hi Ladies,

Back to the salt mines ;) I walked 3.5 miles yesterday at a fast pace with 1lb hand weights and let me tell you ;) My butt is sore!

I plan on doing plyo cardio circuit when I get home now that I feel better. The shingles have dried up, but the area is still sore. It sucks getting older

Judy, I love the cycle DVD’s. You will like them.

Hi to Lori, Garance , Deb and Valerie!

Josie

Good morning ladies!

Yes we did get a grill and we did go with a Weber and wow they are expensive! I know the quality is good and they will last years so hoping it was worth the price. We ended up paying the extra $65 to build and deliver. My brother would die if he knew we did this but we want it for Memorial day and do not have the time so to us it was worth the extra $.

Deb...We live 5 minutes from a very large pond (more like a lake) that has cute little cottages and winding dirt roads. I love walking Chester thru and everyone is so welcoming. Very enjoyable for both of us. Don't have to worry about traffic at all. Need to walk in the daylight though because it gets really creepy when dark. Very wooded and I feel like a large animal will come out. Too much TV on my part!

Tonight is chest,sh and tris. I love meso 2 so far. More so than meso 1. I hear meso 3 you are waiting long periods between sets. Not sure how I will like this. I know I will love the plyo legs. I have downloaded one of these a few months back and have done it a few times. Curious as to which Meso cycles do you girls like best?

This morning I ran 3 miles on TM! I do not usually have this energy on a Monday!

How are you feeling Josie?

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Garance,

Thanks for the feedback on the cycle dvds. I'm going to order Ride to start with. I'm looking forward to it!

Josie, I'm glad you are doing better. Sounds like you are jumping right back into training!

Lori, that's great that you got 3 miles in! If we had a little more room I would like to have a treadmill at home.

This morning I was going to get a long walk/run in. It was a little overcast when I left, but about 15 minutes into it, the sky got darker and I started hearing thunder. I made that my turn-around point, as I am somewhat of a fair weather person. So I ended up with about 30 minutes in, and decided try again tomorrow.
I'm planning on Xtrain bi's and tri's with one of the bonus core workouts tonight.

Judy

Good morning,

I could not sleep this morning, so I got up at 4:15, but am too tired to do any workout.

Garance, Congrats on the writing commission! I have the same zinnias, and yes, have to stake them too. I did the workout with only 1 riser each side, still was too jarring on my knees. Next time I will modify that part too. It's not worth the injury. How are your legs btw? any more treatments coming up?

Josie, you have to be almost done working right?

Lori, when we got the grill, we took one that was already put together in the store, and luckily it fit in the back of our car..was a little difficult getting it out, but worth it. That area with the lake sounds lovely for walking dogs. Do you keep Chester on a leash when you walk him? I know when he swims he is off lead...

Judy, where do you do your workouts? do you have a room set up or use your living room etc?

I decided to take off Thursday & Friday this week. I have the time coming so I might as well make a long weekend out of it.

Not much else going on here...work, work....and hopefully home to do some clothes sorting. I am still picking summer clothes out of Rubbermaid containers.

Take care,

Good Morning,

Deb-I've been waking up in the middle of the night regularly for the past couple of years, probably menopause related. I'm hoping that ends soon.

I have my spinning bike in the living room. It's set up so that I can watch dvds on my laptop while I ride. I have my Cathe workout area upstairs in the bedroom. So far I have a stability ball, resistance bands and tubes, firewalker loops, weighted gloves, medicine ball, and dumbbells up to 15 lbs. I keep these things out of the way in the closet when I'm not working out. I wish we had the room for a dedicated workout area but we live in a small condo and space is limited. We have a basement, but that is my husband's area and it's pretty full of electronics, radios and old computers (his hobby).

Judy

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning it was STS disk 17 for legs (47 min.). I also took Max for a walk last night after dinner--about 3 miles.

Deb, I'm scheduled for sclerotherapy on June 5 on my right leg and vein closure on my left on July 10. The vascular surgeon only works on veins certain days, so it's a long time between appointments, although they also like to see how things look after about 8 weeks. I'm still doing the great clothes exchange too. Always nice to put away all those wools.

Big town meeting tonight. Should be long and boring. Maybe I will bring some knitting along.

Judy, yes, nothing like menopause to play havoc with your sleep. I don't think it ever gets COMPLETELY better.

Yes, Josie, aren't you getting pretty close to making your retirement announcement?

Hi Ladies,

I will be adding some weight training to my Insanity workouts. I plan on doing supersets today when I get home and push pull on Thursday. My Dr. gave a referral for a bone density, my last one was 5 years ago and it was fine and I also have to get a mammogram.

Garance and Deb, I will be making my announcement on June 3rd along with my request for vacation. I have 10 day left.

Hi to Lori and Judy and the vacationing Valerie!

Josie

Good afternoon ladies!

Slept in this morning. DH and I are going out to dinner with my former CEO and his wife. Needed to sleep in otherwise I would be a zombie by 8pm. I am planning on doing Cardio Core and the Low Intensity HIIT portion on the Intensity DVD (if enough time) at 5pm. DH is picking me up at 6:15 so I should be able to get Cardio Core in any ways.

Disc 19 was last night. Chest Shoulders and Tris. WOW is all I can say. My arms were fried. Was funny working out with these heavy weights and having my husband and son around the corner eating pizza and potato chips. I got a chuckle out of this.

Deb...yes Chester has a lead when we walk but I do take it off for him to swim. He is really good about coming back and letting me clip it on. I am taking Friday off too. Will be nice to have a 4day weekend. It is expected to be really nice here in New England.

Josie!! CONGRATS YOUR RETIREMENT IS JUST ABOUT HERE!!!

Irongrl...I am like that. Constantly waking up. So nice when I actually sleep thru the night.

Garance...can't wait to watch Game of Thrones. Hoping for tomorrow. I am about 20% into book 4 and I find it to be moving along. Nothing really exciting yet. Hoping it picks up.

Hi to Valerie!

I'm back... we had a great trip... shorter than planned cause the weather pooped out this morning.

Lynda, thanks for that review.. we liked SLP a lot. I thought performances were excellent and better than the actual AA winners. I will buy that one if it shows up at Costco. would love to see it again. funny how the characters evolve as the movie goes along... Bradley cooper went from crazy / manic to normal so gradually I am not sure I noticed until suddenly he was transformed. Jennifer Lawrence was excellent too though she's not a favorite actress for me.

Judy I like x-train Ride better. like the music and the pacing is better for me. I had a lot of trouble with the spin bike at first (especially with the shoes) and posture, so took a while to work it out, and I had only the first DVD then so maybe that had a lot of bearing on which I like better. DH uses the spin bike more than I do. I like riding a real bike much better but both are fine workouts.

We did some hiking and some mt biking. scared up a black bear on our first ride sunday morning. we rode the nicely groomed trails for the most part but I did hills I'd never been able to do before and DH could NOT pass me!!.. Oh, I LOVED IT!! flowers are so lovely and weather was great. camping very pleasant. a fun trip. we did a huge amount of exercise. hiked for 4 hours Monday, and then rode for another 2-3 hours.

Deb I aree with the others, just do a short workout with no dread factor, or a shorter pre mix, just to get the ball rolling again, and to keep from getting overly sore.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Garance,

Garance-I'm afraid your right about menopause, it never really ends completely. For me, hot flashes and not sleeping through the night are the hardest.

Josie-Congrats on your retirement! I just got the Supersets/Push Pull Dvd last week, but haven't tried it yet.

Lori-I can't remember the last time I really slept all night without waking up. Maybe a couple of weeks ago. Having a cat that wants breakfast at 4 am doesn't help either. At least he is happy with my new sleep pattern
Hope you have a great 4 day weekend!

Valerie-glad you had a great trip, but sorry about the weather. Way to go on the hills, and all the hiking and biking you did! Have you ever done a week long ride or bike tour? Sounds like that would be something you might like.

Take care,

Judy

Hi all,

Sorta slept in...up at 5:30...too tired to workout this morning...already wrecking my rotation plans...but being off tomorrow and Friday...I can catch up hopefully..

Judy, yeah menopause really is the pits! I have not had a full 8 hours of sleep, in years. I have accepted that now. I am lucky if I get 6 hours straight... of course the dogs don't help this either, but I would wake up anyway. I usually do. and I think my waking up makes them stir around. I would squeeze a treadmill in the basement! They don't take up that much room. I have one that folds up and is pretty compact once it is folded. Push/Pull is a great, short total body workout...It seems easy, but if you use heavy weights, it really can get you good.

Garance, how was the town meeting? Do you feel obligated to go to them?

Josie, I wish it was me making that announcement!

Lori, how was the dinner?

Valerie, welcome back..your trip sounds fantastic! Do you have formal rides in your area? We have an annual ride for Roswell Park Cancer Institute that I have been tempted to join, but by the time I think about it, it's too late to sign up. It's a fund raising one where people pledge donations for the riders that you know.

Off for the last day before an extra long weekend!

We anticipated the possible weather problem but were hoping rain would hold off until later on Tuesday. no luck this time! but this area is only about 2 1/2 hour drive so instead of returning Tuesday evening, it was Tuesday early. we cleaned everything up and are ready to go again.

I never looked for Strivectin at amazon. I buy it so seldom that seeing it at Costco is usually a reminder.. besides usually their pricing or product quantity is never matched that I've ever found, so if I find it at costco, I buy it there.

I 'm a bit antisocial ..never do community fundraisers, hikes or rides. I know most of the people are nice, but I don't enjoy being in big groups. a few hours is enough. I've done rides with a Mountaineers group but the longest was 2 days, and that was a long time ago. DH and I have done long hikes.... loop or one-way trips that were in the 60 mile range, involving the PCT and other connecting trails. they get complicated with driving, often needing two cars with a lot of back and forth driving to park them. our last was a in the Wind Rivers in WY, but only about 30 miles. we want to go back there and try a loop this time. dh & I both had medical problems on that trip (since been fixed) so we feel OK about planning another this year, especially with DH retiring and freeing up time so we aren't so locked into specific times. bad weather, fires, peak season crowds are issues.

I sometimes have sleep issues... started with menopause. they come and go. I sleep really well for a while, and then something will set off "the pattern" and I have trouble sleeping in the middle of the night. I wake up and can't get back to sleep. Benadryl and advil help.

good for you Josie... those screening tests are so important, best get them while insurance pays. My new road bike is a Trek Domane. women specific design frame.... it is lovely. I am still tweaking the seat. we only got to ride for an hour or so, then left on our trip. it is a beautiful bike with expensive shifters. they are so much easier to use than my old bike. I am in a totally different position on this bike and expect I will have fewer issues with posture and distance. we got decent trade ins on our old bikes which eased the price a bit. I will report more as I get to ride it.
