Good morning,

Just getting us started for the week....planning on doing a KCM today...will check back later.

Good morning ladies!

Another beautiful day here in New England...today feels like a barre day and a nice walk with chester.

Other than that no real plans for the day. Some yard work since it is so nice.

Have a great day all!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did RK with 1 lb. gloves, and last night took Max for a 3 mile walk.

Yesterday was beautiful, so I spent most of the afternoon weeding and getting things ready for annuals. The morning was Housemax. Today looks like another lovely day to spend some time in the gardens.

Valerie, that sounds very difficult to deal with at a long distance. I hope the doctors can get the pneumonia under control. I imagine it is very serious for someone your mom's age.

Lori, I continue to be amazed at how many different workouts you have--and how many you do. Never even heard of t25, but if it's a lot of jumping, obviously not for me. Sounds like you are taking advantage as I am of the lovely New England weather.

Good morning,

I ended up doing a treadmill workout yesterday, then a KCM this morning. I was trying to talk myself into not getting up, but Kylee knowing that I was awake, started whining so I got up for her and then just went downstairs and did the workout. We did about an hour of weeding yesterday, boy all the rain really makes the weeds grow!

Valerie, thinking about your mother and hope that all is ok. Keep us posted.

Lori, I would be too frustrated to work with the WB...just getting my computer back to normal was enough for me.

Lynda, how are those baby chicks doing? is Max still on guard duty?

Hi to Josie, & Judy,

Work, then late class tonight,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did GG (55:40)--the premix without the ball. Took Max for a 3 mile walk last night.

Deb, unfortunately, when Max is not on guard (during dinner last night), the hawk plunged down and took the head off a chicken. The chickens are now getting a bit too heavy for the hawks to carry off, so maybe this bloodbath will subside. Chicks are doing great, but they are still in the brooder. You are so right about the rain bringing on a whole new batch of weeds. I am still chary about planting my annuals because the temperature is still going down at night.

Lori, I looked at the clip from the step hiit workout Cathe had on streaming. Convinced me definitely not to try this. It looked like it was all high impact--and probably perfect for you.

Valerie, hope your mom is doing okay.

Hi to Judy and Josie!

Good evening ladies,

Yesterday was about 40 minutes of Barre and a walk with Chester. No workout this morning but just came back from a short walk with Chester. His leg is bothering him tonight so we kept it short.

Lynda...that is terrible about the chicken! Yes let's hope the hawks lose interest now that they are too heavy to carry off. Yes I do have a ton of workouts. I buy 80% of my dvd from amazon using my amex points that I get from all the spending I need to do for work. It is my company amex and as long as I pay the annual fee for the rewards personally then my company lets us keep all the points. I spend on average $8,000 to $11,000 a month so it is worth it for me to pay for the rewards. I of course spend them immediately on dvd's or whatever fitness equipment I may need/want and have no guilt whatsoever! My DH calls it my fun points. Lol on the Step Hiit. Yes I loved it!

Deb...good for you with the treadmill workout. Yard work can be exhausting! I asked SNM for help with the workout blender and it turns out it was my issue and did not follow the proper instructions. I just went thru all the steps and it is working perfectly once again. So good when things go right!

Valerie...thinking of your mom and hoping all is well.

Hi to Judy and Josie!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did KCM's Cardio Quick Fix, both workouts (44:39). Last night I took Max for a 3 mile walk after DH retrieved him from chicken patrol. No chickens killed. Max is pretty much out there for the day. He has an umbrellas to give him shade.

Really nice weather again, so I will try to do some planting this afternoon. I also bought some beautiful hanging plants. Local nurseries are burgeoning with their best flowers now that Memorial Day is coming up.

No check-in from Deb. Hope that doesn't mean your computer is giving you problems again.

Lori, that is a great deal for you from your company. Now I know why you have so many workouts to select from.

Hi Ladies,

I took a CRWORX and a body flow class yesterday total one hour. Today is a body pump class.
Only 12 more days before the ride and the butterflies have started :). I have been gathering the stuff for the trip.

Garance, I have a beautiful outfit that I plan to wear on day 2 to honor your SIL. I will send a small video and the progress through out the day directly to you and Deb and you can share it with her DH. I hope that this is ok with you.

Lori, that is a great deal you have with your job ;).

Hi to Valerie, Judy and Deb!

Josie

checking in... things look a little better today. mother is doing better. she still has some breathing issues and needs another test. expect she will be released to a rehab facility in another day or two. we'll see. I thought this was a downward spiral but she is sounding better. even researched plane tickets.

I have been distracted. yesterday I did a bunch of yard work and then 20 on the treadmill, 10 on elliptical, and the core workout from flex train. I haven't used the treadmill in months since the calf muscle tear but it was fine and no soreness at all. it was not a real hard workout, just feeling it out gradually. and yoga this morning... we thought we were going on a 4 day trip and loaded it all and were ready to go, and then had to unload everything again. now waiting on a phone call from the nurse and doctor.
yes, hope Deb doesn't have more computer problems. Lori that is a sweet deal on the points.
Lynda, I've never had chickens . are they smart enough to go under a covered area if they get attacked from above? maybe not....

Good evening ladies,

This morning was ruthless wicked lower body and tonight I took chester went for a nice 3 mile walk. His leg seemed great and he wanted to keep going so we did. Half way thru he went for a nice long swim so I thing this energized him!

Valerie...so glad to hear this about your mom. So good that she seems to be better. I love the core work on Flextrain. I like the way it flows - tough but doable.

Josie...I think that is so sweet of you to be honoring Lynda's SIL. I look forward to seeing the pictures. You must be counting the days now!

Deb...yes hope your computer is ok!

Hi to Judy!

Spoke with my brother today and he sounded great! Best since his surgery back in April. He still has a drain but hoping it will be removed soon.

Have a great night!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did Muscle Endurance and a segment of Stretch Max. Today I did a 90 minute indoor ride.

Tonight I went to "Meb meets Michigan" at a local running store. It was a Skype session with Meb Keflezighi, who won the Boston Marathon. I've been a fan of his since he won the Bix 7 race in Iowa in 2002. He is a great speaker, very authentic and motivational. I bought a copy of his book, "Run to Overcome". I have it on Kindle but thought it would be nice to have a hard copy too.

Josie-that is so great that you are riding to honor Lynda's SIL. Good luck with your ride.

Valerie-so glad that your Mom is better.

Lori-that is a great perk to be able to use those points! You definitely have more workouts than anyone I know! Glad to hear that your brother is sounding better.

Hi to Deb & Lynda!

Judy

Good morning,

I did a KCM this morning, it felt good getting up and getting that out of the way.
I did try to sign in here yesterday, but the site was down for quite a while.

Lynda, that's horrible about the hawk and the chicken...:(. I just got some giant zinnias yesterday, one of my manager's gets them for me every year. There is only one nursery around here that has them and they go so fast.

Lori, wow that is a great perk that you have! Great to hear your brother is on the mend.

Josie, yes send pics and I will post them here. Not too sure on the video posting...if you post it to Youtube we can get it over here I think.

Judy, great workout!

Valerie, glad to hear that your mother is doing better.

Work, then home to do some stuff around here. It still rains every day so nothing in the yard until the weekend, which I hope is a little sunny.

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

Today I will be spinning, I will also be getting my aerodynamic hair cut and a mani-pedicure.

Deb, good for you on the workouts. Thank you for posting the pictures for me :)

Lori, glad that your brother is feeling better.

Hi to Valerie, Judy and Garance!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did XTrain bis and tris (45:54). Took Max for a 3 mile walk after dinner. I also spent some time planting a bed of State Fair zinnias (the tall ones) and nasturtiums. Beautiful day yesterday!

Josie, that would be lovely to see and send on to Tom. I haven't mentioned this before, but he has been trying to get something good out of the whole tragedy by talking to a legislative committee in NH about passing a law making driving without a license a misdemeanor. Weird, but it IS a misdemeanor to drive with an expired license and carries a heavy fine, but it is not against the law to drive without a license. It passed out of committee, and then some total creep from a finance committee said it would cost about 25,000 dollars to implement, so he recommended that it not even come up for a vote by the full legislature. Tom went back to push the legislation, and it still may come up for a vote. New Hampshire is a weird state. They don't require auto insurance, which is why we have no-fault here in MA, so if we get hit by uninsured motorists from our neighbor state, we are still covered. NH's license plates read, "Live Free or Die," but should read "Leave Free AND Die." End of rant.

Max was on chicken patrol for about 6 hours yesterday, and he did a great job. No dead chickens on his watch. The other huge ally in guarding the chickens are crows. They mob a hawk if it enters into their territory and create a ruckus warning both DH and the chickens. Yes, Valerie, chickens do manage to duck for cover (I think I know the origin of the Mother Goose rhyme about Chicken Little, because the sky is always potentially falling for chickens), but according to DH, a hawk will lull them by simply roosting quietly in a nearby tree and then swooping down when one of them decides to venture out.

Valerie, that is good news about your mom being on the mend.

Judy, Meb's win was so great for Boston. Everyone wanted an American to win for a change.

Deb, I know about the tall zinnias. They disappear quickly around here too.

Good evening ladies!

This morning I had a dentist appt so was able to leave a little later than usual. So of course I took advantage of the extra time and did HIIT pyramid, barre from LBB and then 100 rep bis and 100 rep tris.

Lynda...that is ridiculous the law in New Hampshire...I bet if it was one of their relatives they would be thinking differently. Great job Max!

Judy...yes we were so happy that an American one. Must have been great to meet him.

Josie...ha ha on the haircut! I bet a good haircut on a ride like that really makes a difference!

Deb...I have noticed Cathe's site has had some issues lately. They seem to be really trying to figure it out.

Hi to Valerie!

Good morning,

I am going for blood work this morning, so I slept in a bit. Hope they can take me right away, since it was too late to make an appointment. I made an appointment with my old GP for a physical. I was pretty pissed at my current one for how they handled my C-Diff episode last December. I hate changing doctors, but think I should.

Josie, LOL about your "aerodynamic" haircut! I didn't really think about it until you mentioned it, but your hair could really bug you on a ride that long, if you had to say, put it in a pony tail or something to keep it out of your face while riding.

Lynda, I love those zinnias, however the last couple of years that I got them, they never got tall, and ended up looking like regular zinnias....I wondered if they were labeled incorrectly. Good boy Max! He deserves some extra treats for his guard work.

Lori, I wonder if that streaming change has put some type of stress on the Cathe server. It seems to be having the issues since about the time they launched the Cathe Live.

Hi to Judy,

Work, then home to crash. Same as most days. Time to start thinking about retirement...

Take care,

Posted yesterday but it seems to have disappeared into cyberspace.
wow aerodynamic hair! maybe that would speed me up... though I think my ponytail doesn't cause too much air resistance.

Lynda that is nuts about NH and no license/ insurance. I had no idea driving without insurance was legal anywhere! and no license? what about people who lose their licenses due to things like DUI? how can that be enforced? I realize you don't live in NH but that is crazy. sounds like something AZ would do.

my mother is being discharged today. she is in some degree of heart failure which is what I thought all along. not much to be done... except keep her comfortable and hopefully get her in and out of the rehab facility quickly so she can spend time at home. I don't know if my brother will be able to handle this alone. depends on whether she can still manage getting to the bathroom herself.

zinnias...used to grow them in the Midwest. my neighbor here grows them but she is in a sunnier spot. I don't bother. not warm enough here for them to do well. Deb, best of luck with the new "old" doc. cousin has been thru a range of specialists due to the c diff and the sinus infection that got the whole thing started. too many people, too many antibiotics. he finally seems to be improving but he would have been a terrible patient to deal with.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Jazzercise Hiit (47:00) and last night took Max for a 3 mile walk.

Deb, I think that's a good decision to go back to your previous GP. Was there some reason why you changed doctors? Don't worry--Max gets his evening treats and loads of praise from DH. He is such a sweet-tempered dog I'm not sure what he would do if the hawk actually landed in front of him, but his mere presence with all the chickens seems to fend hawks off. You must have had those shorter zinnias--I can't remember their name, but State Fair is definitely the name for the tall ones.

Valerie, will you have to put your mom in a nursing home if she cannot make it to the bathroom on her own? I bet there are some other states that don't require insurance--Idaho? Oklahoma? Massachusetts is a "progressive" state with probably too many regulations, laws, mandates, etc. etc. DH actually has to do a drug test periodically because he is a truck driver in 3 states--MA, VT, and NY (we are in the corner of MA and close to both other states for delivering wood). The nurses who administer the test find it hilarious.
He could also give you an earful on all the regulations regarding farm-raised chickens, pigs, and calves.

Lori, I never knew that about NH until this happened. It also explains why our insurance is no-fault, which I don't this is true of other states.

Hi to Josie and Judy!

Did a decent hike yesterday, about 7 miles. uphill into plenty of snow. sloppy slushy snow that was sliding everywhere. it gets so soft you sink right thru, sometimes very abruptly, because it doesn't fill in solidly under brushy trees and meltwater underneath. can fall into some BIG holes.
day before I did burn sets bi's and tris, plus core1. today I went to yoga, then DH and I geared up for a ride but he got a flat tire early on and our replacement tube wouldn't stay inflated. so we stopped early. still about 15 miles RT. need to get replacement tubes before another ride. our tire pump may have been the problem.......

I would guess states that don't require insurance/license would not advertise it..... what stupid public policy.
brother says the nursing home is not great. mother is in a wheelchair right now but has been going to the bathroom. rehab is supposed to get her back to her previous strength level, which isn't great but better than current.
Lynda, what choice is there if she can't get to the bathroom? have someone stay with her 24 /7? Even for a few days it would be rough. she is not considered hospice.
