Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 5/12/2024

thanks for gettign us started Judy.
we are heading for montana in the morning. hopefully for longer than a day or two! tried to see the aurora last night but we both got up at different times and neither of us saw anything. a neighbor very close to here had some great pics but it was earlier than when DH and I were looking. I also heard that you should take a pic even if you don't see anything and then look at the pic. I haven't a clue why that would work but I' ll try it.

people sure get weird about their phones. I dont want my phone hooked up to my car. I'm smart enough to know I can't manage both at once if I'm driving. that's what vm is for. maybe I could have when I was younger. my brain does not work well when I try to do two things at once.

Good morning. I did my usual yoga for 20 minutes today.

Judy, thanks for getting us started.

Valerie, have a safe trip.

Hello to Cathy and Dianne Sue.

This morning I did LIC Step and Core. Forgot how much I liked the step in that one. Beautiful, mostly sunny day here today. We were cloudy two nights ago, but last night it cleared off so I decided to check out the potential for seeing the lights. Even out here we don't have complete darkness because of yard lights and while it's about 8 miles away the town due north of us just project light at night. Went out about 9:30 and tried taking a few pics, but there was still some light on the horizon to the NW gorgeous sunset though. Stayed out for awhile and started getting a bit of pinks in my pics. My iPhone on night setting. I'm sure it's possible to get better settings, but I'm clueless. Decided I'd go back up on the porch and sit for a bit. Got near the porch and I hear food being moved around in the dish. Now, I know to proceed with caution. Generally it's raccoons and they just run away, nope turned on my flashlight and see black and white. So, I go all the way around the house and text Derek to let me in the front door. I went back out about an hour later and got a little more color, but still mostly pinks with a bit or purple and you had to look close at the pics to see it. The stars were out though so that was cool. Went out again about 11:15 and got my best pink with a good section of pink above the horizon. My sister in NC went out about 1:15 and she got greens. Someday I want to be where you can see them with the naked eye, but at least I saw some. Of course, after being out in the cool night and my encountering my little friend I was wide awake and didn't go to bed till 12:30.

Valerie I hope you have smooth travels to Montana tomorrow. In my car, I can answer and hang up the phone on my steering wheel, so it's really no different than using my cruise, and my button for navigating the stuff on my screen is right by my shifter, and I can do that by touch, though usually I only do that kind of thing when I've got no one around me. I usually start my music, audio book, podcasts before I start out, and I can control the volume and go forward or backward on the steering wheel, too.

Carolyn great job with the yoga.

Hi Diane Sue and Judy.

Today I did RWH Low Impact Sweat 1, STS 2 Total Body stretch and STS 2 Body Parts Chest and Triceps. We're headed up near 80 today, and I've already switched to T-shirt and shorts and I'll probably go to a tank top after lunch. It's the time of year when there's a constant up and down with the temps and we've not yet gotten used to it being hot.

Decent drive yesterday but 10 hrs 45 min. nice that daylight hours are longer. saturday night I tried aurora pics but all I got was a faint pink tinge to the sky nothing like the pics Ive seen. got up again last night here with much bigger darker sky but nothing at all. most of pictures were great but wish I could have seen for myself. we've seen the aurora before in greenish curtains swirling around when we were backpacking.

so far saw bluebirds hungarian partidges meadow larks sandhill cranes osprey mostly while driving.

I am so trained to respond to a phone call that I'm best off not connected. if we are both in the car I use phone as needed. Ive had bad experiences trying to talk to people while they're driving and cant tell what they're saying anyway. maybe I could learn but I get so few calls its not important. I fdo a lot more texting and that is not ok when driving ever. acclimating to altitude so far today and doing house projects. might ride the bike a little this afternoon. our regular riding spot here i not open to traffic for a couple weeks yet.

This morning I did part of Gloved Up and Sweaty for 34 minutes and 193 calories burned. My average heart rate was 118 and maximum heart rate 149. I didn’t even make an effort to see the night sky because I knew that I wouldn’t be able to stay awake.

Cathy, great job with LIC Step and Core, RWH Low Impact Sweat 1, STS 2 Total Body Stretch, and Body Parts Chest and Triceps.

Valerie, I’m glad that you had a great trip.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

I did not work out this weekend. I had my grandson here Friday night and Sunday family over for mothers day. I haven't been feeling that well so just rested.
Today I did Raw Biceps and Triceps, 21 minutes, 98 calories, heart rate 120/139. I have the rib and sternum pain again so am avoiding things that work the chest and aggravate. I followed with CDorner 14 Day Challenge day 11 cardio aerobics all standing low impact, 30 minutes, 170 calories heart rate 141/173, 3,318 steps. I finished with CDorner mobility challenge day 18 for tight shoulders and chest, 13 minutes, 22 calories and followed with 14 minutes of mobility and stretch work which included a little STS 2 #1 that was too much after down dogs and then the plank push thing, so added a bit of other stretching. This was another 22 calories. Total time today was 78 minutes, 312 calories.
I won't be working out tomorrow. I have my ladies group gathering to go to. I had a nice time yesterday with family.

Yesterday I did a 45 minute Peloton ride and today was a rest day.

Valerie-I’m glad you had a good trip. That is a long drive. Chris has his phone connected to his car but I’ve never set mine up. I don’t really want to try dealing with calls while driving.

Carolyn-Nice job with your yoga and part of Gloved Up and Sweaty.

Cathy- Nice job with LIC Step and Core and RWH Low Impact Sweat 1, STS 2 Total Body stretch and STS 2 Body Parts Chest and Triceps.

Diane Sue-Nice job with Raw Biceps and Triceps, CDorner 14 Day Challenge, CDorner mobility challenge and mobility & stretch work. I’m sorry that you still aren’t feeling well. Do you think you have a virus or flu bug? We have several people at work that have been fighting some kind of flu. I hope you feel better soon.

Today I did Perfect Pump Upper Body and the Extended Stretch for 48 minutes and 132 calories. Average heart rate 102 and maximum heart rate 127.

Diane Sue, nice job with Raw Biceps and Triceps, CDorner Cardio Aerobics, and Mobility. I’m sorry that you are still having pain. Enjoy your Ladies day.

Judy, great job with the 45 minute Peloton ride and taking a rest day.

Hello to Valerie and Cathy.

This morning I did STS 2 Body Parts Shoulders and then some cleaning before the plumbers arrived. Actually went smoothly as they had the part with them. And as I could predict, 3 cats fled the seen, and Tux heard them and went directly into the bathroom to rub on legs and get petted. LOL Since he's never going away if you pet him, I shut him in Derek's room till they left. If Tux was a dog, he'd be the one leading the burglars to the goodies and it wouldn't take treats, just petting.

Valerie I'm glad your trip was uneventful and you got to see some cool birds along the way.

Carolyn great job with Gloved Up and Sweaty and PP Upper Body and stretch.

Diane Sue I'm sorry that you still aren't feeling well. Great job finding workouts that you could do around your pain.

Judy great job with the Peloton ride.

We talked to a neighbor yesterday while giving her some of our extra tomato plants and found there have been quite a few grizzly bear sightings here including a sow with 2 cubs. decided not to bike here until later in the season. there were specific issues like a partly eaten carcass in each area we ride that should go away soon but make it a little dicey now.
I did stacked upper body yesterday premix. along with therapy. did a load of shopping this morning and need to do some cooking now. a birthday to celebrate tomorrow.

Cathy, nice job with getting in Body Parts Shoulders before the plumbers arrived.

Valerie, nice job with Stacked Sets Upper Body and therapy exercises. Enjoy the birthday celebration.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

This morning I decided to do XTrain Disks, Ball and Barre (Chair), then I walked at the zoo this morning. Beautiful morning. Sunny and mid-60's. Perfect for walking. Came home and had lunch and then headed in the opposite direction to the dentist. Shopping tomorrow, so probably no workout. Derek and I are planning on going to the Toledo Zoo Saturday, so I'm shuffling my workouts around and moving Saturdays weight work out to Friday.

Carolyn great job with Jessica Smith's Pyramid Power Walk.

Valerie sounds like a good idea to avoid those areas for awhile. I hope the birthday celebration was fun.

Yesterday I started with Live #366, PHA Super Sets #2, then I did 30 minutes of Peloton Arms & Light weights (this is like PT work with only 1-3 lb dumbbells); 10 minutes of glutes, 10 minutes of core and 25 minutes of rowing. Total time was 2 hours. I felt like doing something longer and this combination worked well. Today did a 30 minute row and 10 minutes of arms & light weights.

Carolyn-Great job with Perfect Pump Upper Body and the Extended Stretch and Jessica Smith’s Pyramid Power Walk.

Cathy-Great job with STS 2 Body Parts Shoulders and XTrain Disks, Ball and Barre. It was a beautiful day today.

Valerie-Great job with the stacked upper body premix. It seems like a good idea not to bike in those areas for now. I hope the birthday celebration was fun.

Hi to Diane Sue.

Today I did CDorner Step and Sculpt with mini bands, 32 minutes, 177 calories, heart rate 137/167, 2049 steps. I then did Raw String Along Glutes, 20 minutes, heart rate 105/1311, 75 calories. I finished with CDorner Stretch Day 12 from her 15 day workout challenge stretches for flexibility and preventing injury 52 . This one held stretches for 1 minute. 32 minutes, 52 calories. Total time was 84 minutes, 304 calories, 2,200 steps. This is another busy week. I have family coming over Sunday. Cardiologist appointment Friday morning. I had a nice time with my ladies group yesterday. The hostess made teriyaki burgers for lunch. We made cards and then played some games. The dizziness and nausea seems to be gone today. I still have the pain through the ribs and chest area. It is better, but I am avoiding working that area till it goes away. I will talk to my Primary doctor when I go in.

Valerie, good job getting in Stacked Sets Upper Body premix along with therapy yesterday. Good idea to avoid the area that had grizzly sightings.

Cathy, nice job on XTrain Discs, Ball and Barre and the zoo walk. That's Funny about Tux and the plumbers. Most cats would take off somewhere else.

Carolyn, nice work on Jessica Smith 30 minute Pyramid Power Walk today.

Judy, nice work on Live #366, PHA Super Sets #2, 30 minutes of Peloton Arms & Light weights, 10 minutes of glutes, 10 minutes of core and 25 minutes of rowing. That was a nice long workout. I don't think that I had a virus or anything. Other than the rib cage sternum thing I feel back to normal.

Today I did P 30 Perfect Pump Lower Body for 38 minutes and 133 calories burned. Average heart rate 106 and maximum heart rate 130.

Cathy, nice job with XTrain Legs and walking at the zoo.

Judy, you had quite the workout! Great job with Live PHA Supersets, Peloton Arms and light weights, glutes, core, and rowing.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Step and Sculpt, Raw String Along zGlutes, and CDorner stretch.

Waving hello to Valerie.

No workout as I shopped. Tomorrow is weights and then Saturday off to the Toledo Zoo for the day. Derek got his next schedule, and we're planning to squeeze in the zoo in South Bend late next week. I'd prefer Thursday because I'd rather not be driving the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend. So, I'll be continuing to play shuffle with my workout rotation. LOL

Carolyn great job with P30 PP Lower Body.

Diane Sue great job with CDorner Step and Sculpt with mini bands and stretch.

Judy that is a long workout, and a great mix hitting all areas.

Hi Valerie.

Today I did CDorner Cardio Aerobics All Standing/Low Impact (from this morning), 53 minutes, 298 calories, heart rate 140/179, 5,567 steps. I finished with CDorner Recovery Stretch with a towel or strap (from 2 weeks ago), 27 minutes, 38 calories. Total time was 80 minutes 336 calories.
I changed my cardiovascular appointment as my allergies are going nuts and was not feeling battling the rain and dealing with trying not to cough and sneeze in the waiting room.

Carolyn, nice job on Perfect 30 Pump Lower Body today.

Cathe, avoiding driving on Memorial Day weekend sounds like a good idea. I am sure you will enjoy the zoo with Derrick.

This morning I did RWH Low Impact HiiT One, 28 minutes, 198 calories burned, average heart rate 133, and maximum heart rate 151.

Cathy, I’m sure that you will enjoy the Toledo zoo. I don’t blame you for avoiding driving on Memorial Day weekend.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Cardio Aerobics and Recovery stretch with towel.
