Good morning,

Today I did X-Train Chest, Back & Shoulders, premix 3, plus The Butt Bible level 1. 58 minutes, 261 calories.

I hope that I can stick this out....I have X-train All Out Hiit ( a premix) on the calendar for tomorrow.

It's a little over 50 degress right now, John has a turkey breast and some ribs in the smoker outside...the neighbors will be smelling it soon :).

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did STS disc #1 for chest, shoulders, and bis (50 min.).

Deb, I think I will try to use the legs discs for STS and see if I bulk up too much. I sort of remember on Slow and Heavy bulking my thighs too much and not being happy. I already received my new workouts from Collage and I ordered on Thursday! I think I will try Pure Spice tomorrow. DH likes the looks of the Jazzercise Burlesque dvd, but I warned him that I would NOT be wearing a bustier to do this or any workout, but I will try to do the dance moves.

Went to see The Gatekeepers yesterday, a documentary about the Israeli special ops agents. Very disturbing, and not one of them is convinced that they ultimately had any real impact on their conflict with the Palestinians, despite the efficacy of their individual missions.

No more comfort Sundays--sob! It is a very good way to bring people in during the winter months, but now business is picking up.

Good afternoon!

Yesterday morning I did Intensity. I like this workout a lot except the step portion in the beginning. I like step but something about this first part just does not move me! I like everything else about it though. Going to look at the premixes next time and see what I can come up with. Then after my usual saturday housework and errands took chester for a walk then came back and did Disc 2 back and tris. DH worked late so again tons of time on my hands yesterday!

This morning I did Imax 2. I forgot how much I like this dvd. Music is fun and flies by for me.
Nice and sunny here and a little breezy and cool so chester and I went for nice long walk and I believe we are both going to be lazy for the rest of the day. DH and I just made burgers on the grill and about to watch Skyfall.

Garance...hysterical about the burlesque workout! I remember Cher did a step workout with keli roberts wearing a little black lace lingerie!!

Deb...I really enjoyed Xtrain and loved all the workouts. It is a fun series!

Hi to Josie and Valerie!

Good morning,

Today I did premix 12 from X-Train All OUt HIIT...this is floor and disk cardio plus Core #1. I stopped about half way through the core and went to the cool down. Why does this kind of workout feel like it's killing me, then I don't even burn as many calories as when I walk for the same amount of time on the treadmill? Strange.

Spring must be here finally...all the birds are chirping like crazy this morning at 5:00 am.

Garance, you can always sub the XTrain leg disk too, or any of the other Cathe ones that don't have such heavy leg work. LOL about the dance DVD and the bustier.

Lori, Intensity? is that from a different Cathe series? Obviously one I didn't get. Imax 2...old one...I sold it on Ebay...hated the step part...but then, I don't like Cathe's step workouts...Valerie and I are the same about those.. I did have that Keli Roberts workout with Cher...it was pretty good..Yep...Cher in a lace teddy..LOL

Work, then late class tonight...

HI to Josie & Valerie..

Take care,

out to dinner on Saturday. went to a Thai place instead of planned Mexican ... loved the red curry. everyone noticed my weight loss. I was pretty careful on serving size but no idea how many points are in something like that. went light on the rice and ate the vegies and chicken without a lot of the sauce. a couple glasses of wine.

Got my Midwest trip set up. will be gone much of next week. wondering if I should bother taking a disk or two along. probably won't have much extra time.

did cardio trisets and core 1 yesterday. Saturday was garden work. we have all the early season stuff done and are waiting for things to grow.
today we wanted to kayak and ride but the forecast is for rain to continue this morning so might have to pick one over the other. neither activity is good in the rain.

Is this cher currently in a lace teddy? Amazing she can still be on camera in that kind of outfit at whatever age she is...

Watched Zero Dark Thirty last night... intense movie! enjoyed it.... subtitles are a vast help on this one with all the Arabic names and locations... lots of background noise too.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie and Lori--

This morning I did Pure Spice (56:00). Pretty intense cardio dance routines because of BPM on the footwork. I definitely think this one will keep me challenged for awhile, but it's a lot of fun--IF you like to dance, which I definitely do. I would characterize the routines as very zumba-like, but she also has a Bollywood routine and a couple rock and roll style dances.

Lori, I had that Cher video with Keli Roberts and did it a lot. I also did IMax 2 once a week for about 6 months. I still have the video, but I don't know if I could still do all of that impact though. I enjoyed Skyfall and wonder if Ralph Fiennes will now be in the next James Bond film. Did you ever see the Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner? It is somewhat similar and it's really good.

Valerie, this is an older Cher video. I've seen her more recent appearance and don't think she should be wearing the kind of getup she had on in this video anymore--at least in public. I liked Zero Dark Thirty, and I agree on the sound and dialogue. I couldn't understand how the sound people received an Oscar for this one because a lot of the dialogue seemed hard to make out.

Hi to Josie!

good afternoon ladies!

This morning I did Disc 4 of Meso 1. I am loving STS so far and now that the weather is getting nicer (yeah finally) I will be able to walk Chester more often. He will be very happy about this especially when I get home and we go out today.

Deb...Intensity came out in 2010. It is not part of the Intensity series which came out in 2002. Pretty sure it was just a single workout. It has step, HIIT and bootcamp sections. I love all except the first step part. Next time I do this I am going to sub the Athletic Training step portion. I am thinking this will work well for me.

Valerie...Awesome that people are starting to notice your weight loss. It always feels great when people notice your hard work! Congrats! Zero Dark Thrity looks great. Really need to move this up my list.

Garance... I agree that Ralph Fiennes may continue his role. I pretty much love everything he does. I have seen all the Bourne movies. Love the action in them. Funny thing is I tried reading the first book and I was so bored with it. It could not hold my attention. Movies I loved.

Have a great afternoon ladies!

Yes, people noticing feels good.... we haven't seen this couple in a few months and I think I had already lost 5 when we saw them, but this last 5 made a difference in how my clothes fit. anyway, people I see every few days probably wouldn't notice a difference but a few months, yes.

I couldn't remember what ZDT got nominated for after all the flap about suggesting valuable info was gotten via torture... I forget if it was still on the best pic list? best actress? anyway, I recommend it. we are used to turning on subtitles and I'd recommend it even for people who usually don't. very intense. I think I liked Argo better but not the same type of movie. so hard to compare. I will watch it again. I bought both movies. we like to have some things to watch when we're car camping especially if it's a campground and the sounds of nature are your... neighbors deep into a case of beer.

I expect Cher is still in good shape but the camera is brutal.... especially if you are out to the edge of the screen. I can see it distort skinny people into beefy in a few seconds!

037.gif

Got up at 4:30...to tired to do any workout...dogs. We had a pretty good thunder storm last night too, that didn't help with sleeping either.

Valerie, it does feel good when someone notices all the hard work you have been doing. Thai is soooo good! I really like both the red and green curry...the green is really spicy though. Do you have Travel Fit? that is a really good overall total body workout and great for travel. It seems like it's easy, but gets me with DOMS every time. No, like others said, the Cher workout was decades ago..well at least one decade or more..

Garance, going to go look at that video at Collage...just to see what it's like. Fit to Dance did not sell on Ebay...any that don't sell are going to go into some auction baskets I am going to make...fitness ones...I figure a couple of DVD's, water bottle, towel, head/bands etc will be good.

Lori, oh...on that Cathe DVD...if it's step, I know now why I didn't recognize it. There were a couple of her releases that I didn't buy. Like Shock Cardio..and apparently this one. Lucky Chester!

Josie, are you on vacation?

Work, then to the massage lady for Keegan...hope she finds that he is better with the rest and stretching stuff I have been doing with him.

Take care,

The other factor that helps is that I'm well muscled....thank you, Cathe.... and when 5 lbs of fat goes off, well, I don't think my total fat % is that high. that's part of why it goes off so slowly. but 5 lbs of fat really made a big difference. I can definitely afford to lose more though. I don't want to lose the hard earned muscle with a starvation approach.
with all the various scale readings over the years... home scales used to disagree greatly with professional ones... I'm not sure what I used to weigh??? I know my current scale checks out closely to doctors office, which is better.

Yesterdays plans fell flat when it continued to rain. we ended up going some riding and some hiking trying to figure mountain bike route in a new area for us. 2 hours or so of up and down hills, some pushing the bike. one section was so steep and slippery I could barely push the bike up, and coming down ( walking) was treacherous. and then DH's brake cable broke, fortunately when he was on a fairly flat section. seemed like either it was boring /flat or steep greasy mud without anything in between. looking at the map after we think we will just ride a gravel road up to the main trail and skip the difficult approach.

I love any kind of curry but that's the one dish I seldom make at home... I know I whined before about how hard it is to get the smell out of the kitchen. I don't know the difference between red and green but usually get 3 stars. nervous about 4 stars unless I know the restaurant..

Hi Ladies,

I was not on vacation. Decided to take a couple of sick days ;) My grandkids and their mom cam down on Friday and spent the weekend. We had a great time!

Their mom had a test for the CHP on Saturday so, we went to the farmers market and then to a birthday party. On Friday I did my workout and then went to Venice beach for a long walk.

Valerie, congratulation on your weight loss, it makes it all worth it when people notice.
I got a compliment on Saturday at the birthday party. My SIL’s brother in law said “I see that you are still working out, keep it up. You look great”. Made my day 

Garance, why not wear the bustier? Live a little ;)

Hi Lori and Deb!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did STS disc 2 for back and tris (56 min.).

Deb, Pure Spice is all dance. Not sure if you like that kind of workout because there's a choreographic challenge to it. Have you given up on watching DWTS? I don't even know who is on it this time. More celebrities I've never heard of probably.

Josie, I have some risqué lingerie, but I cannot imagine wearing it while trying to do aerobic dance. I haven't done the Jazzercise Burlesque yet--maybe on Friday--but I will let you know what the women are wearing and how naughty it looks. DH just looked at the cover and said "This looks fun."

Valerie, good for you on the weight loss! I know how hard you've been struggling. Funny--I don't think Thai curries are all that smelly. Indian curries, yes, with the masalas, but I do both red and green curry with those little jars of paste, and I don't recall a lingering odor.

Lori, are you getting some of this warm weather? Feels great.

Lynda, even Indian curries aren't THAT smelly. I agree, Thai ones are less so. what I''ve decided is it's the exhaust fan itself. it's a smooth cooktop, surrounded by granite and ceramic tile. I've cleaned all accessible parts but it's an old fan. I think the odor gets embedded in the greasy inaccessible innards of the fan.

there are accessible surfaces and two filters that get soaked in hot soapy water, but that's the best I can do with it. when I sniff around, that's where it seems strongest.
I picked out a replacement fan but it's one of those things that slid to the back of the line. and I wonder how long a new fan would stay odor free?

Yoga was great this morning....I'm trying to learn arm balances... it will be a long road. those are tough. I'm strong enough but technique and balance are needed too, and I'm a little short on those.

Good morning,

I kind of slept in...dogs woke us up at 3:00...John got up with them and stayed downstairs, I went back to sleep until 5:20...so no workout this morning...the schedule never seems to cooperate.

Found out last night from the massage lady, that she consulted with this alternative med type vet who confirmed that sometimes dogs will break out from a massage, as she said, "the massage will release toxins that are processed by the liver, and have to come out somewhere, so they come out through the skin"....not sure if I believe all that, but at least he didn't have scabbies! Oh, and the massage lady said she would not run Keegan in the agility trial I am signed up for weekend after this coming one..he is still really sore. She was right...he was not having her touch some of his muscles...oh well...at least I only had him entered for one run...toss that money away..

Valerie, the green currie ( at least at the restaurant we go to) is really, really hot. I love the flavor but sometimes I am not in the mood to sweat with dinner! The only lingering smell from Thai food I have found when we get Thai as a take out is garlic. I think Indian food has more of a lingering smell than Thai. My assistant's husband has a business that goes around to restaurants and cleans those fans etc. For them it's more to prevent fires. I bet there are ones in your area that would come in and do that in a house as well. I think he would if he was getting paid for it.

Josie, burn up those "sick days" before you retire! LOL...

Garance, I went over to Collage and viewed that DVD....pretty dancy! they said there was some sort of tutorial, but it looks like it would take a few times doing it to get it down. No, I did not start watching DWTS this time either. I was kind of pi**ed off about Max, he's my favorite pro dancer....and I hardly knew any of the stars...I like to go to ABC TV and just watch the individual dances one in a while...haven't done that yet for this go around.
Work, agility class with Kylee.....

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Jazzercise Burlesque (45 min.). Fun and very good for the abs. The outfits weren't all that naughty, but the background was a bit cheesy.

Deb, there is an excellent tutorial on Pure Spice. She takes you through the steps for each of the 10 songs. I watched that ahead of time, so I had some idea of what to expect, but it's just easier for me to do the routines and learn that way. The relation of massage to a rash sounds a little sketchy to me. The only hot stuff that affects me is wasabi--it makes my eyes water and I feel like my head is completely clear (but I also love it with my sushi). Didn't Max have several altercations with the judges?

Have a great day, everyone!

Hi Ladies,

I did my plyo cardio circuit this morning and I’m still sweating ;) I took a sculpt class last night. I decided to include sculpt to the Insanity program. I will be doing the Insanity workouts 4 days and sculpt 3 days. I will be doing the Insanity workouts in the morning on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I decided that I needed to sleep in at least 4 days per week so that I don’t get burnet out.

I’m going out with the girls this evening. It has been a while!

I will be back later.

Josie

Hi All!

ended up sleeping in yesterday but brought Cathe's HIIT DVD to work and did the Pyramid workout at lunch. was only about 35 minutes start to finish but an intense workout. Thank goodness we have a shower here at the office.

I have motivated a few of the girls here so starting tomorrow we will be working out in one of the conf rooms. Tomorrow we will be doing Zumba. Should be fun.

Weather has been really nice. Walked 2.3 miles at lunch today. Loved it. i use 1lb aNkle weights and 2lb hand weights when i walk to increase the intensity a bit. Tonight I will be doing disc 6 Legs.

Deb...sounds odd about your dog. Very well going be what is going on. I agree it is certainly better than scabbies!

Josie...you are really making me want to get going with Insanity. I'll do one of them on Saturday when I have more time and try to fit them in more often.

Garance...I check out the DVD and way to dancy for me. I am going to have a tough time with Zumba!

Valerie...Arm balance are really tough. Don't think I will ever master them.

Have a great afternoon ladies!

Deb, whenever I hear anyone going on about 'releasing toxins" my BS detector goes on alert. I don't think bodies work like that, people or dogs. makes me think of the cleansing diets that de-toxify kidney, liver etc, No, I don't think so.... dogs ( or cats) will get a sore or itchy spot and they don't leave it alone and sometimes I don't think there's a definite reason for it. it itches, so they chew on it. Scabies is very contagious so if one dog had it, likely the other one would too. Dog massage sounds like it would feel good to the dog and also to the therapist who is making a few $$ from it. hope your puppy feels better regardless...

I was able to get in the first arm balance position to the point where I had my leg set on the back of my arm in a tricep push up position, but couldn't get the other foot off the floor except for a millisecond and then collapsed. more work needed, but never tried it before. I am sore today. I'm hoping to just sort of 'do" one, mastering them seems like a distant goal, but more likely for me than lotus!

Josie,. glad you got some positive feedback on your diet and exercise results... so nice when people notice! you know it yourself, but acknowledgement feels so good.

ETA... I never had any food that made me sweat... I like hot stuff but I don't have that reaction, at least not so far. I know I've had both green and red curry and liked them both. wasabi... I'm not a fan of sushi... so no significant wasabi testing here. I'm sure I've had it with something but I won't eat raw fish so it wasn't sushi... maybe some vegie variation on a sushi plate. does clear the sinuses more than feeling hot in your mouth.

I did Cardio Supersets again yesterday mostly because it's just a little shorter and I only had 45 minutes. I like that one, nice mix and good core work is part of it.

Good morning,

Late class last night, and we stayed to chat a bit so it was even later than usual.

Garance, when I hear "jazzercize", I visualize people dancing with leg warmers, sweat bands and lots of jewelry. LOL...

Josie, how was your night out with the girls?

Lori. is there a pyramid workuot in HIIT that I missed? I have to go over to the DVD listing and check that out. Nice that you can workout and shower at work.

Valerie, good job on the balancing move...you will probably get it down in a couple more sessions.

As for the toxin theory with Keegan and massage, I did look up some things on the net and there are some that believe that massage can release toxins...I don't know if I do or not, as long as he doesn't have that break out thing happen again..if he does, I think it will prove her theory, but I will not be taking him back!

Work, then home to crash...

Take care,
