Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/3

Cathlete
Good morning,

Trying to talk myself into doing some type of workout. Going to look at where I should be in the Supreme 90 set. I hope it's one of the weight workouts and not the insane cardio.

DHis going fishing and I will be here doing whatever I did not get done yesterday, I admit, I didn't try too hard yesterday, just picked off a few things on the list that were not too taxing. I have to still do the bread, bars, and eggs for the week. Hoping to get something made in the crock pot for dinner.

Garance, it's sunny here, but the prediction is for some rain, and temps in the 40"s. This is getting really old.

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

I made it! I ended up doing 104 miles total. The last 5 miles were hard but I finished.
The BHIP program got me ready for this ride. I will be back tomorrow.

Have a nice Sunday.

Josie

Hi Deb and Josie and any later posters--

This morning I did Booty Barre (64 min.).

Congratulations, Josie! That is awesome. How long did it take to do that many miles?

Deb, it's rain for us tonight as well, but no more snow, so I am thankful. It's pretty warm today and the sun is out, so it feels good. Sounds like you have a lot of stuff to do. I am making chicken paprikash tonight from my Joy of Cooking. Egg noodles and salad on the side. I will probably make some popcorn to watch the next installment of Mildred Pierce tonight. Love Kate Winslet in the role.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Good morning!

Today I did a Cardio Coach workout, 33 minutes 216 Calories burned. I think I may start using my FitDay nutrition recording again, I keep slipping off my eating plan and it shows!

Josie, GREAT JOB on the ride!!

Garance, any word from the VF crowd on when the KCM DVD's will be shipped? Kelley is pretty quiet on her own board, nothing being said, since they went to the dupicators. I am looking forward to the split workout. It rained here last night too, almost looked like a wet snow when it was coming down, but nothing stuck on the ground, thank goodness.

Hi to Valerie on vacation, Cathy playing with G-kids, and Joan, under all those returns!

Take care,

Good morning,

I just got a call from a client and she wanted to cancel tomorrow's appt. and come in sometime next week-maybe Thursday. She can't get her act together. Told her sorry, come in Saturday or not at all.

Josie great job. I'm so glad you are going to maintain. You must be in great shape.

It was 90 degrees yesterday and it will be 32 degrees tomorrow morning.

Joan

Hi Deb, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did KCM's double Bootcamp circuit (55 min.).

Deb, I have not seen anything over at vf about the new KCMs, but I am most excited about Cathe's new low impact, high intensity series. I wonder when she will start a presale, because this one promises to be the right one for me.

Wow, Joan, she wants to come in the day before tax day? Good for you--things are stressful enough for you. It will be over soon, though, won't it? Sounds like your weather is on a rollercoaster ride.

Getting ready for Othello tomorrow. Love this play.

I am really psyched about a low impact high intensity series!! Finally, something for us "Pentagenarians" !!!

Good morning!

Today I did the leg workout from Supreme 90. WOW. That's about all I can say. For only using dumbells and a stability ball, you get a pretty good workout. You work at your own pace and do 8-12 reps, whatever you can manage. I do 12 on some of the stationery exercises, like squats, but only 8 on the others.

Garance, by the time we are tired of the new KCM DVD's, Cathe's new series should be out. Great timing! I am reserving opinion on the yoga and barre ones, not really my thing, but maybe if they are shorter I wouldn't mind giving them a try. I sure hope she makes any spinning one a separate one you purchase if you want it. I read the complete thread, ( 2 of them I think) and they sound pretty good. I'm not too fond of her step ones at all, but that's ok too. Can't wait to see some footage.

Joan, 90 degrees? wow. We saw 55 yesterday. Yoo-hoo.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did Fat Burning Fusion (46 min.).

Deb, I agree that finally Cathe is targeting our group. I also wonder if she noticed the disappearance of so many of what were formerly the "regulars" on the open forum. I have to admit that one of the reasons I have not been using any of my many, many Cathe dvds was a growing resentment that she would not even consider a modifier on her cardio routines, and I certainly don't need any more STS and high reps workouts, so I did not want her most recent batch. I'm really looking forward to all of these, because I have been reaping some benefits from the barre workouts, and many of my recent ones include yoga moves that have been challenging and force me to concentrate. I always have loved the step workouts, but haven't done much of them lately at all, so maybe by the time these come out, I will be ready for some new step stuff. I also wish she would do something zumba-like (sigh!).

Back to teaching this afternoon, but it still doesn't feel like spring here. After the temp went up to the 50s last night and this morning, early, it is now plummeting, and a cold hard rain is falling (echo: Bob Dylan).

Hi Ladies,

I survived the weekend and yesterday's work out on the BHIP continuation. The ride took 10 hours (including breaks and lunch) and I figured that at least 8 of those hours were on the saddle. We had 2 pit stops each way plus lunch in Ventura.

On Sunday I went to a place for a Chinese foot massage and let me tell you, it was wonderful. He kneaded every part that needed it. It is a one hour massage that includes your whole body, not just your feet and you are fully clothed. It only cost me and my DH $25.00 each. I gave them each a $5.00 tip. I will be going back next Sunday : ) I was not even sore yesterday from my ride.

Deb, I will be going to the store today to get my Supreme 90. Can't wait to start the new DVD's!

Hi Joan, Cathy and Valerie!

Josie

Good morning, Happy Wednesday!

Today I did Cardio Coach Vol 2 Revised, 35 minutes 229 calories. Love these workouts. The time goes by so fast. A light dusting of snow on the ground?

What is up with that? Come on people, it's April!!

Garance, I agree 100% on Cathe's recent cardio DVD's. I can't even remember when I have done a Cathe cardio, I don't like her step style, and anything else is so high impact. I wish she would tell how many are in the series and the breakdown of types. I may decide to only purchase a few like I did with the last one. I really like the 2 weight workouts from her last series.

Josie, that foot massage sounds heavenly. When I get a pedicure, she does that for me too, only not for an hour! That is probably really good for your feet.

Off to get ready for work, ugh.....

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did Xtend Barre (55 min.).

Love your overreaction 'smiley', Deb. Gave me some laughs. Today it's sunny, and they keep talking about a warmup, but I'm still wearing my faux fur coat, and it feels good. Are you watching any of DWTS? So far, I definitely agree with the eliminations. I never vote, though, so I probably should not complain.

Really good class yesterday, but it was Othello, so I am not surprised. It is one of the best by Shakespeare. No class today because my film course is now up to students and their research for the next couple weeks. We begin their presentations on April 20. I have a poetry reading to go to this afternoon. This guy sounds a little flamboyant, so it should be entertaining, even if you don't like poetry all that much.

Josie, I love foot massages. That sounds great.

hi ya'll, yes, i'm alive, sorry to be awol for so long. just wanted to say hi and see how everyone is doing.

LOL! i love your little guy too, deb. wish i could figure out how to do those. well, no snow here, for sure, it was 94 last friday and we were trying to ride, but just too hot. then sunday nite it was 34 again.
crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmm, deb just saw your post, so cathe is FINALLY gonna do something for the older crowd, huh? that is kinda why i've been awol, i guess. seems like her workouts just cater to the super-advanced. i mean i can workout alot, but hers are just crazy. and, i don't know, it seems like they're making new workouts all the time. too many decisions for me. i am happy with tracie's new ones. will use them for quite awhile. i can't see me getting anymore cathe's at this point. would still like to get rid of the MMA's that i have never used.

Good morning,

Today I did one of the Supreme 90 workouts, Chest, shoulders & Triceps. whew!

Still cold here, and hardly any sun. It's supposed to warm up by Sunday with rain. Joy.

Garance, I am watching DWTS. I also agree on who has been voted off. who do you think will be in the finals? I like the Disney girl ( forget her name) and the Karate Kid guy, Also the wrestler, and the football player. Not sure which will shine by the end. Not a poetry fan, so I don't think I could sit through a reading, even if it had a good reader that was entertaining.

Cathy, how are you? 94?? I wish we could get to 64. The smilies are "borrowed" from a friend's board. Sell your MMA's on ebay or Amazon. This way you can have more money for other workouts :).

Off to shower and get something to eat, take care,

Hi Ladies,

We are in the process of moving to another floor and will not have access to our computer for the rest of the day and tomorrow. This weekend I plan to go for a long walk on Saturday and start Supreme 90 this weekend. I also plan on riding my bike with the Long Beach group on Sunday; it will be a 56 mile ride.

Welcome back Cathy, I'm glad that you are doing well.

Will be back next Monday, have a great weekend ladies.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Dancetonic (60 min. with 2 30 min. workouts).

Welcome back Cathy! If you find a workout person you like, then it's best to stick with her/ him, and it sounds like Tracie Long floats your boat. I remember her from the olden days with the Firm, and I know I had some kind of ballroom dancing thing she led, but I sold it on ebay quite awhile ago. I have a lot of old Firm videos on my shelves, and I keep thinking I should resurrect them for a rotation, but then I never do. I'm having a hard enough time resurrecting STS, which is currently languishing on my shelves and making me feel guilty.

Hi Deb, I like the football player, except that my DH keeps telling me he's "nasty." I don't watch football, so I haven't seen the aberrant behavior arousing such detestation from DH, but there it is! I like Ralph Macchio (I think that's the karate kid?) next, and I really liked the waltz of that tall model. Boy, those Supreme 90 workouts sound like they are kickin' butt! DH just picked up 150 baby chicks. They are soooo cute. Max loves watching them.

Josie, I'm still waiting to hear what you think of Supreme 90, because I know you are in such great shape.

Good mornin,

No workout today, terrible nights sleep. Not even sure I am going to go to the agility session tonight. Hopefully I can catch up tonight. I had a wonderful facial after work, was so relaxed I thought it would be a breeze to fall asleep. I ate a bowl of oatmeal for dinner so I know it wasn't anything that I ate. Anyway, that is my rant for the day.

Josie, Have a good weekend.

Garance, I heard something about the football player too, but more about how the team he is on is nasty. ( the Steelers right?). Yes, Ralph is the Karate Kid. Does your DH do all the stuff necessary when the baby chicks are grown? or does he take them somewhere to be ...ummmm...dealt with? Does Max actually get right near them or are they in a pen that he is outside of?

When does Valerie get back?

Anyone doing anything exciting this weekend?

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did P-57, vol. 2 (57 min.).

Yep, Deb, he's on the Pittsburgh Steelers, but DH seems particularly to single him out as nasty. I will ask him. Probably some awful head-butting or dirty tackle. He does look a bit sly. DH takes the birds up to a Mennonite family (11 kids!) who specialize in slaughtering chickens. The whole family is involved in the process apparently. At this stage, Max is in the brooding house just watching them from time to time. Eventually he will be guarding them when they start free ranging it. DH and I are going to another special dinner in support of local rural lands stuff on Sunday. A much smaller menu, thank goodness! Hope you get a good night's sleep! It sounds like the weekend weather will be ideal for me to get into garden clean-up.

Have a great weekend everyone!
