Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/18

DH is right behind me on STS, he did the last disk this morning too, with exception of the leg disk. He's not fond of plyo legs. I did bike, treadmill, coremax this morning. will decide about that last leg disk tomorrow. Feel like I should so I can be officially done! I want to take a few days off STS. we plan to do something this weekend depending on weather, like biking or hiking in eastern WA where there's less snow.
DH wants to go back and restart STS soon. I don't remember if he did it all from the beginning or if he jumped in when I was part way through. He likes it alot... the variety and getting regular upper body work, and he likes Cathe. he can push more weight than I can so he looks at what I wrote down and increases it by some amount he guesses at.

Garance, we had a robin like that once. anything that blocks the reflection will do it. pull a curtain or blind or stick a decal or something on the inside or outside of the window. depends on how the light hits the window and what the robin thinks it sees. we hung some plastic strips ( temporarily) from the window frame and it stopped. It sure got annoying after a few days, and we thought it would break its neck flying at the window.

Hope everyone is in recovery mode for the weekend.

TGIF!

Good morning,

I just finished CLX Burn Circuit 3. This will be my second week of the Burn phase. The program calls for 2 more weeks of repeating this phase, but I think to prevent boredom, I am going to go to the next phase, which is the Push Circuit and do that for 2 weeks then go to the Lean phase and do that for 2 weeks, instead of 4 weeks for each phase. If I am still liking i, I will repeat the cycles. 4 weeks of the same 3 workout over and over gets a little tiring. At least with STS, each workout was different. I really like these because they are 30 minutes long.

Valerie, I am 5'3 too. I actually watched the tutorial on Cathe's site, and my chair was definitely too low. I will keep your tips in mind when I do STS again.

Garance, poor piggy! Can DH call someone that also raises these and get some advice? I guess your windows are too clean! Agree with
Valerie on the robin, do you have drapes or curtains on them? if they were closed maybe he would not see his reflection and would stop? Yes, DH gets worked up because he is the treasurer and the other members are "spend thrifts", and as soon as we have a little cushion in the treasury, they want to spend it and he is the "keeper of the funds"...he gets upset, doesn't want the club to be too low where we can't pay the rent etc...I have to endure the ranting and venting when he gets home from the meeting, then I get all agitated, well you know how it goes...

We have our first agility trial this weekend and I will be working at it for 2 days, Keegan is not good enough yet to be entered, We have another one in June, he may be able to do that one, we'll see.

Hi to Josie, Cathy and vacationing Joan!

Take care,

Deb, someone else gave me a link to a tutorial on the sit-n-stands but I couldn't find it again. It might have been in the STS forum.

Another interesting thing is in the Ab disk that comes with STS. It's divided into 6-8 sections and in the yoga based one, Cathe does a levitation hold and then proceeds to unfold her legs from a lotus and stick them straight out in front of her, then pull them back in, and refold them while holding her levitation position. oh yes, and talking all the while. and it was after doing a variation on the V-sit where she went up and down in an impossibly smooth and controlled manner, so not even at the beginning of the session. OMG. it is quite amazing. absolutely worth watching just for the shock and awe factor. If I can find it online anywhere I'll post a link.
I was thinking about things I've been unable to do and finally "got", but levitation holds have been on my "try" list the longest, and I've made zero progress. I think I'm strong enough to do them but I don't "get" how to lift my legs.

Hi Deb, Josie, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did BBL High and Tight (35 min.), followed by Cardio Axe (30 min.). My sub for STS legs.

We have tried pulling down the shade to discourage the mad robin, but then he moves to the upstairs window. I like to have the shades up and the curtains open, for heaven's sake, because I like the sun. Last year, DH had a robin diving into a rear end mirror on his truck, over and over and over..... DH is not sure what to do about or for the pig. Can't find anything in his books about the problem. He does know how to deal with a prolapsed vagina on a cow. Clover does this a lot right before calving. DH just pushes it back in.

Deb, my DH is a treasurer for a soccer referee assn. and has the same problem. The current president likes to have big restaurant meals at their meetings, and DH totally disapproves. When he was president, they had pizza.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Ladies,

I had another treatment yesterday and my friend told me to try spinning this Saturday. I feel much better and hopefully will be able to get on my bike by next weekend.

Have to get back to work. Have a great weekend ladies!

Josie

thank ya'll for your concern. i have felt so much better the last few days. i do need to call my dr. actually , think i'll do it right now. ok, am i over 50 or something? i just walked into the kitchen for my phone and it is in my pocket.

well, ok, a long story coming up. i have not been around this week due to grandkids and all the usual, but, have also been a bit stressed. we got a letter last week from our school district and they are building a high school behind & to the NE side of us and they want our land. well, i know that sounds good and all, but i am so sad. we have been here for 27 yrs. this coming dec. and , i love my home, my house , the land, all of it. my son grew up here, and i wanted my g/kids to grow up here. sorry i'm whining. it was just a shock. so, anyway, long story shorter, appraiser is coming tuesday and i guess we are gonna sell our place. the good thing is that we still get to live here for the next 3-4 yrs. rent free, so we have alot of time to find something or decide if we want to build at our family farm. it is just so far from the g/kids. well, 3 hrs, but still a long way , i think.
so, i've had alot of stuff the last 2 weeks and just havent' been on the computer very much. so, aren't ya'll glad i am here now and rambling on?
and, i did just call my dr. so will wait for his call.

i have been keeping up w/.the rotation i'm doing though, 6 on/1 off. thought i would not be able to, but have.
today, was rebekah's cardio core fusion
yesterday was , killer body sculpt (jen), ya'll that do the firm know which one i'm talkin' about. always hard. and i went really heavy. i love jen, wish she would make more workouts, i hear she is having her 2nd child though.

Saturday

Good morning,

I am off to the dog show, working it today and tomorrow. It's agility this time. We have another one in June, not sure Keegan will be ready for that one either.

Valerie, I think it's like anything else, push ups, pull ups etc. in order to do them, you have to DO THEM! ;)

Garance, it seems like that Robin has a death wish!

Josie, glad you are feeling better and can ride again. Got your check, thanks.

Cathy, I looked for that workout on CollageVideo, but could not find it listed...what is the instructor's full name?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
