Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/14

Good morning ladies!

Did STS legs last night and went really heavy. More so than I ever did before and it felt great. Boy cathe is making me so strong!

Ran 2 miles this morning on TM and most likely will walk with the girls at lunch. Picking up DH at airport tonight so no workout this evening and perfectly fine with this.

So funny about dogs rolling in crap! Why do they do this. I may really gross you out with this one...my Chester likes to eat it when it is frozen in the winter time. We always give the warning "stay away from Chester because he just had a poopsicle!"

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did disk 6 Legs from STS (56 min.). Phew! My legs felt like rubber after this one.

Deb, I have petite Barbara Modern Boot leg in NYDJ. Wow--late night for you.

Josie, yes, you are fortunately soon to retire and end the aggravation. Your new boss sounds aggressive and confrontational.

Who can explain dog behavior? I vaguely remember my vet friend saying that some breeds of dogs--huskies maybe?--eat their own s--- because they don't want to leave their scent. Some atavistic behavior that might have been useful back in the stone age. Lori, dogs love eating manure I guess because it's just fermented hay and grain.

Hi to Valerie!

Good morning & Happy Friday!

Slept in after a jaunt to the yard at 3:30. I don't know what happens around 3:30 am in our neighborhood or why the dogs always want to go out at that time. At least they went back to sleep until 5:20 so I got a little caught up. John is on a fishing trip, left yesterday morning and will be back Sunday. Very quiet around here...

Garance, is your son near all that is going on in Boston? so scary, they are now looking for the second bomber, first being shot/killed etc. I feel so bad for that MIT officer/family. Thanks for the jeans info...I thought manure was always cow/horse droppings etc?

Lori, we had a dog that ate c**p too, frozen or not! LOL...we used to call them poopsicles too. Gross....I don't think it's anything to do with a specific breed, some vets say they are lacking in something, some say it's just a behavior thing...who knows, I just think it's gross. My cousin has 2 Cavalier King Charles spaniels and one does it and the other doesn't..go figure.

Off today, I may take Keegan to the agility trial to get worked on by the PT lady...not to run him. I am disappointed about not running him but I feel that if I do, and it sets him back, how dumb is that after doing all this stuff to get him better?

Hi to Josie, & Valerie..

Will check back later...

Good morning ladies!

I am about 30 minutes from all this Boston craziness. Our office is in shock and we are all kind of numb. Very unnerving. Garance how is your son? Thinking of you and hoping all is well. Hoping the suspect is caught soon before anyone else is hurt.

No workout today. Been battling a cold/sore throat the past couple of days and I am afraid I have lost that battle.

I'll check in later.

Hi,

I went to the arena site and got Keegan a 20 minute session with the PT lady....she said he is much better so I am going to do the one run with him this afternoon. Hope he cooperates...he has been off agility for a month, it could go either way...he is so happy that he runs around like a crazy dog, not listening to me at all, or just sniffs the whole ring, not listening to me....wish me luck!

Lori, good idea to rest from workouts...you will feel better much sooner..

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori

This morning I did After Burn (54 min.).

Nope, my younger son called to tell us he was fine and off to Milford to a construction site where they are installing some appliances he sells. The problem is his girlfriend who lives in Arlington and he's not sure whether her parents will let her leave. I watched a lot of the ongoing mayhem on TV this morning. The whole thing seems crazy. A lockdown on a whole city--wow!

Good luck on the agility trial, Deb!

It's warm here today, but gusty and cloudy-humid, so not that pleasant.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi all.. I'm back. got home last night about 7 after a long day. long several days actually. zero exercise. it rained constantly, except for one afternoon while I was out for lunch with an old girlfriend. didn't eat much except for the one good dinner when I went out for my sisters birthday with cousin & his wife. they are such nice people and technologically 'current". smart phones, I pads, computers... which most of the rest of my family does not have. they printed my boarding pass for me so I didn't have to get crummy last row middle seat which would have been all that was left by the time I got to the airport.
Words cannot describe the mess, from the chaos that is my mothers house, to the relationships that defy sanity. I got along with everyone, probably didn't fix much, but I got to see everyone and be sociable. my mother is doing quite well after the recent scare so I'm sure this won't be the only trip. my brother and sister... they both mean well and try hard but are not successful people, especially sister. bad personal family situations for both. I could go on and on but I won't.
there's nothing like traveling alone to slap you into paying attention. I haven't rented a car and driven around by myself for a long time but I loaded up the navigator on my phone and it worked quite well. I travel better by myself than I do with DH.
and then the awful mess in Boston and Texas. I missed a lot because being otherwise occupied and having no computer. I've never been to Boston so not familiar with most of the names/places. certainly hope the other guy gets caught before he gets killed so maybe we can get some idea of why this sounded like a good idea to them.

Deb, my cousin & his wife have a wire haired terrier. they've had several before but took a break after the last one died. the new one is a rescue dog. he was so matted they had to have him shaved. he had to be totally sedated to accomplish it. he looks like a miniature greyhound.... no, zero curly hair!! cute little guy but needs some training and discipline to be a better house pet. it was amazing to see what a wire haired terrier looks like without the curly hair.

when we had our dog we always said.... just when you start to think they're almost human, they eat something unthinkable to prove they are dogs. our guy loved to eat cow/horse manure given half a chance. I know dogs will dive into human poop too, something that can come up hiking if someone is not burying what they should. I think it's too common an issue to be some lacking nutrient.... it must (in some??? way) taste good.

Lori, best take a couple days off til you feel better. I don't work out when I have a head cold and seem to get better faster than if I'm working hard. we all need rest days.

Hi all,

Valerie, welcome back. I bet you were so glad to be home.

I was in shock when he did the last jump and had no faults, refusals or anything...it was amazing. I guess 4 weeks off and some massage therapy was what he needed!
