Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/12

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Ba, rear delts on shoulders, and bis (52:28). I went lighter on my left hand so I wouldn't re-irritate my wrist. It feels pretty good.

It took me forever today to get my tires changed back to all-weather from the heavy duty ones we put on for all of this snow.

Deb, that quilt is lovely. It must feel good to get back to a craft you enjoy. Ouch on the finger! I will put Suits on my watch list. It's a fairly recent series, isn't it?

I am going to a lecture and reception at the college for Eve Ensler next week. She wrote "The Vagina Monologues," but her lecture is on "Ending Violence Against Women." I have seen enough bruises and black eyes from volunteer work and hope she has some good advice on this. I wish I could do more than provide rides and trying to be supportive, but I am not a counselor, and I don't really understand fully the emotional dynamics in these relationships. I did think the novel Big Little Lies opened my eyes as to why women sometimes stay in these relationships.

Wow, Lori, that Shakeology stuff better taste good if it's that expensive.

Valerie, I always wondered what to do with those Jerusalem artichokes, aka sunchokes. The ones I had were definitely sautéed and I'm pretty sure you would have enjoyed the spicy aioli sauce they were served with. Lots of kick for the palate. Apparently they are tubers related to the yam. Hope your trip is enjoyable.

Josie, that volunteer work sounds perfect for you.

Good evening ladies,

At lunch we did the 21D barre legs instead of the lower fix. Rotation says you can sub for one another and they were craving barre so that is what we did. Tomorrow is Pilates which no one wants to do. Thought that was odd and they would want the lower pace. So we will see what we end up with.

Yes the shakeology is extremely expensive and is packed with everything and them some. It is a powerhouse drink...but on the other hand I feel there are other drinks that are really good perhaps not as loaded but just fine for a lot less $.

Lynda glad your wrist is better!

Valerie have a great trip!

Good morning,

Went to bed around 11:00 last night ( yikes!) which is really late for me, and then read for about 20 minutes. John got up with the dogs at 4:45, I decided to sleep in.

Valerie, have a safe trip!

Lori, yes, I thought that the Shakeology was way WICKED expensive! LOL What is in it that makes is so good? Lots of vitamins? I would think you could sub any protein shake for it I am surprised that the Ladies don't want to try the Pilates workout. It is almost like a barre one I would assume, but easier.

Lynda, glad your wrist is better. My finger is still the same, and all movements, every day are aggravating it. I think Suits is fairly recent, but since it's free on Prime, it may not be. I like it a lot. It's sort of like "Damages- Lite"...LOL. Even the amount of time you spend and what you do for those women is so important. I read that book too , (Big Little Lies) too, on your recommendation.

Hi to Josie, & Judy,

Later this afternoon we will be unloading the truck at the arena, and setting up etc etc....fun!! The good thing is that we get in there early and I can pick out my "spot" for the crate, chairs and other stuff.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did the 2 Hiit workouts back to back (50:08).

Deb, how nice that you are retired and can sleep in if you want. And stay up late if you feel like it. Sounds like you are keeping yourself busy too.

Lori, I wonder if it's alcohol in the Shakeology that gets you hooked. Just kidding--it reminds me of that old Lucille Ball episode when she is doing a commercial for some super-vitamin drink, and they keep asking her to do another take. She gets sloshed, of course, and funnier and slap-happy bright the longer filming goes on. At first, too, she doesn't like the taste, but after several takes, she's slurping it down zestfully.

Another beautiful day here. I should probably spend more time raking up dead vegetation, but I'm more tempted to go to a museum.

Good morning,

Where was everyone yesterday? It's raining now, and has been all night. .

Lynda, did you end up going to a museum? LOL on you brining up that old Lucille Ball episode. I remember that! Too funny.

Well it's the first day of the trial, and I am hoping Keegan cooperates and gets the last leg he needs to get this title. Keep all your digits crossed! I sure hope the rain stops. Nothing like taking a dog out multiple times in the rain right before running the course.

Hi to Josie, Judy, & Lori,

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

Yesterday's 21d workout was called Dirty 30. Cute name for a 30 minute weight workout. Then came home and took chester for a lovely walk. Was so nice.

Deb...good luck in the trials! Go Keegan!

Lynda...I was sitting at my desk when I read your comment about shakeology and laugh out loud as I remember the lucille episode! I would choose museum over yard work any day.

Have a great day. No plans for the weekend. My DS is visiting so looking forward to this. He is going to help us with yard work cleanup.

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Supercuts (45:55). Had to do some modifications to avoid too much pressure on my wrist (instead of pushups at the end, I did chest work with 8 lb. weights alternating with the situps).

Deb, good luck with Keegan! He sometimes seems to have his head somewhere else than the agility trials. I will have Max cross his paws.

Well, I decided to do more raking yesterday afternoon, because today is rainy and tomorrow is supposed to be super-windy. I'm still not done either.

Enjoy the weekend everyone! Spring seems to have definitely arrived here at last.

Hi Everyone,

My training for the animal rescue got postponed for another week or so. The person who was going to train me ended up having to take in a litter of 3 week old kittens and she had to stay home to take care of them. She's going to call me next week.

Wednesday I saw the new doctor. He is a good doctor, but his personality rubbed me the wrong way. He was kind of condescending and very fast. He hurried through the appointment like he was late for something and his attitude just really surprised me. He came across as rude to me, but maybe it's just his personality. He gets excellent reviews so I was surprised that he came across like that. In any case, I'll be going back for PT next week so I'll see how that goes. He also ordered an ultrasound of my hip and hamstring. During the exam he made some comment about my glutes being atrophied and that I probably didn't have much endurance. I was so taken back by that remark that I didn't even say anything in response. I came home after that and did a 90 minute Spinerval.

Yesterday I did an hour of foam rolling and light stretching and this morning I did 20 minutes of core work and a Spinerval.

It was so nice today! Sunny and it got up to 80 degrees this afternoon. I went for a short walk and sat outside for awhile.

Valerie-You're right, I will want to take all the cats home. That will be the hard part.

Lynda-that's wonderful that you are helping at a women's shelter.

Deb- that quilt is beautiful! Great job!

Lori-I bought a trial pack of shakeology shakes and they were good. A little expensive though so I decided not to order more.

Hi to Josie!

Judy

Good morning,

Not a good day in Agility yesterday. Keegan was a little brat, ran around the ring, and basically did what he wanted. I think part of the problem could be that I got there way too early, and he was pent up and decided that since he was loose on a lovely cushy floor he could run around and get all that pent up energy out. I am not going so early today, I will be bringing Kylee very early to be measured, then come back home with her and go with Keegan later. Hopefully he will be more calm that way.

Lori, how are you and the Ladies liking the 21 DF workouts? Have fun with DS and the yard cleanup.

Lynda, Yes, I think we can safely say that spring has arrived. You hit the nail on the head with Keegan, it's almost like he is getting back at me for keeping him crated at the show. I take him out and walk him outside, and around the arena, sit with him at the rings etc. If he does it again today, I may consider not showing him in agility any longer, and start working with Kylee instead.

Judy, I don't think I would see that DR unless he comes up with a miracle to get rid of your hip issue. You shouldn't feel rushed at an appointment, and definitely not feel like you are being treated with a condescending attitude! Glutes being atrophied?? With all the workouts and riding you do? what does that even mean?

Hi to Josie & the vacationing Valerie!

Take care,

Good evening ladies!

Yesterday ended up being a rest day. Came home with the intent of walking Chester but never made that either. I'll make it up to him today.

Not sure what workout I will do. Might be a metabolic one. This seems to be calling me this morning!

Judy...wow so sorry about your DR's appt. what a jerk! Your glutes atrophied? I think not! Odd that he has such great reviews. Well if he treats the problem that's good. I guess everyone can have an off day.

Deb...what a naughty boy Keegan is! Your description did make me chuckle though. :) We are liking the 21d workouts and I am very impressed with the ladies. They are determined and really commited. We talked about continuing on after the 21 days. We have the extreme program too but I may talk them into waiting on this just a bit and do another round of the program we are doing. I have not weighed myself but felt great already in my jeans yesterday going into the 5th day. I have been following the menu plan to a T only adding a little extra protien a couple of times when I felt I needed it. Prior to starting I had been feeling bloated and that is gone. This alone makes a huge difference.

Not sure when DS will be over. He is not an early riser like his mother. Beautiful today. Hoping to get the screened patio and outside patio cleaned and organized while DS is working on the lawn.

Have a great weekend all!
