Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 3/6

Happy Friday!!

We heard from the breeder this week, Both litters were born and there are a total of 6 puppies, 4 girls and 2 boys. It was a little heart breaking for the first one, that showed 8 puppies in the sonogram, unfortunetely only 2 survived. Both girls. The other one had her pups yesterday, 2 girls and 2 boys. We should have 2 hopefully to choose from, depending on how many he keeps. It's all about the temperment for us. I wouldn't mind a boy, if he was mellow and would get along with Keegan and other dogs.

Garance, I will go over to Collage and view the clip of that workout too. Just in case.

Valerie, thanks for the recipes, I copied and printed over to my
Word collection of recipes. Maybe we'll get some fish this weekend and try one out. Your fish fry from Wisconsin sounds a lot like ours, only here they are served with french fries and cole slaw. I think I would like potato pancakes instead! LOL. Either one, very high in fat and calories. Now that it is lent, you will not be able to get seated in any of the infamous restaurants after on Fridays after 6:00 pm. Everyone is lined up for their Friday fish fry.

Joan, glad you are still hanging in there. Sorry to hear about your Mom. She is so lucky to have you.

Hi to Josie, & Cathy,

Does anyone have any plans for the weekend?

Deb, I'm a foodie... love to cook. I never ever eat deep fried food. the closest I come is "oven baked" fries and I don't do those often. the frozen sweet potato fries are really good if you've never tried them. you may be right about the fries and cole slaw, those may have been options. the potato pancakes were fried in a ton of oil.

I get a lot of recipes from Cooking Light forum. I don't like Pam cooking spray on cookware. any part of the pan that food doesn't cover will quickly get a sticky residue that won't come off. I use a silicon brush and a light brush of plain cooking oil, or parchment paper to oven bake things like fish.

2 of the recipes use lemon juice. I recommend frozen Minute Maid lemon juice, not the bottled stuff. just some thoughts...

Did bike and treadmill yesterday, after a very tough yoga class in the morning.
today is yoga and then maybe LBB.

Joan can you get some day worker help? Even a cleaning person? How about a motorized scooter for her? medicare will cover the cost and then she could move herself around easier. my FIL got one recently because of parkinson's making it hard to get to the bathroom etc. it takes a little while to get one so better to start the process before it's totally necessary.

Deb my birthday is coming soon so DH and I may do some birthday shopping for me. I want a new cycling jacket. one of those "screaming yellow" ones.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Slim Sculpt (45 min.).

Deb, I always had thought it would be best to get the opposite sex dog to the one you already have, but DH heard on the radio the exact opposite--i.e., get another male if you already have one, get another female if you already have one. I'm really curious about this, since I am still thinking about another dog after I retire next year.

Valerie, around here it's fish and chips on Fridays--always cod, some very good deep-fried potato chips and served with cole slaw and vinegar. I don't care for fish deep-fried, but I sure do love those Buffalo chicken wings with some nice hot sauce on the side and dipped in blue cheese crumbles dressing. I also love to make coconut shrimp with a pineapple salsa.

Nothing much this weekend, but Monday we are going to this dinner celebrating Maple syrup days for Berkshire Grown. Deb, I forwarded the menu to this. I don't think I will be able to eat all of these dishes. Next week is the last week before spring break.

Sorry you are so beleaguered, Joan. Sounds like your mom is having a hard time of it.

Hi to Josie and Cathy.

Don't forget Daylight Savings--spring forward!

Oh my, when I'm hungry I start talking about food... can you tell?? finally dropped a pound. my pants feel looser so I think it's fat starting to depart. I'm hungry a lot lately, I really have to struggle but I will do this.

I've always heard opposite sex and younger when adding another pet. just like people though, some animals are more sociable than others. Deb, how long do you have to decide? I know people who had 2 male goldens, and another with 3 female labs and everyone got along fine.

Lynda, you might have guessed.... I don't like blue cheese so I've never had buffalo wings. actually I don't eat wings anyway cause it's too hard to skin them. Nothing left! I do LOVE fruit salsas though. I like Mango better than pineapple but decent pineapple is easier to get. Mangos are wonderful... if they're good.... but I've bought too many that never ripen. Love papayas too. I've been eating apples again lately. found a new kind that I like a lot called Opal. I think I need a bowl of soup before I do a workout.

Deb, I just went shopping over at Collagevideo, and the release date they post there for the KCMs is April 25. I just ordered xtend barre, 2 Ellen Barretts, and a new one, Dance Tonic that looks like it might be fun cardio. I really like Barrett, and her workouts are 45 min. I just need some new stuff, I guess.

Have a great weekend ladies!

I don't know what got into me today, but I decided to restart STS. Did disk 1. I did all the pushups. I did 2 types as standard pushups. I don't feel good with the staggered or the boot camp styles, so I subbed standard toe pushups. I am surprised and pleased. I am much stronger than a year ago.

have a good weekend everyone.

Good morning,

My friend's Mom passed away yesterday so I will be spending time with her this weekend, with the wake, funeral etc. She was 97.

Valerie, good for you for starting STS again, and how awesome that you are able to to all those push ups on your toes!

Garance, which Ellen Barrett's do you have and which do you like the best? maybe KCM is talking about the pre-orders when she says her goal is to have them all out by April? In her last post she said something like, "if all goes well and everyone does their thing, I hope to get them all shipped by the end of March so you will have them by April"...of course, if one thing drops, her dates are all messed up. Not a big deal, I have plenty to do. I haven't even opened High Reps yet. The plan is to do that one tomorrow.

I will check in a little later to see what everyone is up to,

Take care,

Deb, I liked High Reps although my brain keeps mixing it up with Total Body. I found an unofficial worksheet to print somewhere ( don't remember) and recorded the weight I used so the first time through was a little jerky but the second time was more efficient. It might have been in the forum on new workouts. Hope you like it.

Hi Deb and any later posters--

I have Slim Sculpt and Barefoot Cardio by Barrett and really like both of them. I ordered Skinny Sculpt and Cardio Fusion. I know it sounds odd, but I only use 2 lb. weights on the Slim Sculpt, but my shoulders are screaming at one point. I use 5 lbs. on the Tracy Mallett, and both 5s and 8s on P 57. I see you saw that menu. Yikes!

Housemax this morning and looking at The Last Emperor this afternoon for my seminar on Wednesday.

FYI... one of our older threads got a SPAM post. I reported it. hope it doesn't become a big (usually weekend) problem. usually not too much of that here.
