Pentagenarians & Beyond! W/B 3/14

I guess I'm going to go on endlessly today.... so please excuse me.

Did disk 25, the first in meso 3. did bike warm up, treadmill for 40, and 10 on the elliptical. I then surprised myself. I pushed the weight and was stunned at how much more I could press. nothing compared to cathe & crew but dumbells 20 and 25, and barbell 40-50. I had no idea I could do that. I started with "reasonable" but it seemed easy. the same exercise gets repeated 4x so after the first set I jumped the weight and jumped it again and again. I'm not sure I went high enough but it's hard to get the barbell in position while rolling down onto a bench and I don't want to get hurt. I think DH is getting me cathe's push-pull tower for my birthday ( 3/30) and that should make it easier to load and unload the bar. we're shopping for another barbell... we have 2 easy curl bars but no straight bar and I'm sure DH will need more weight than we own when he gets to this part of the program. He is way stronger than I am but 8 reps is different than 12 and I was surprised at how much heavier I needed to go. I wish my legs responded like my upper body seems to.

I did Muscle Endurance, but not the complete workout..sheesh...how many leg presses can one person do? a gazillion? :eek:...LOL..I started with the Express total body pre-mix, then messed it up because I wanted to skip the lunges, so I ended up just skipping around and doing at least one exercise per body part.

Valerie, your camping sounds like a lot of work to me. Your camper sounds just like the one my grandparents had, the part that fit over the cab of the truck was a set of bunk beds, is that how yours is? Good job on the weights in Meso 3! I have the Troy BB set that Cathe uses, but the bar is only 5 pounds and your DH would want something heavier I am sure. I also have a lot of other bars from older type weight sets that I just leave set up at certain weights, makes it easier to just grab one. If you don;t go too heavy you can use the push/pull tower as a squat rack too so you don't have to lift the heavy bar over your head, but they warn not to put too much weight on there..

Garance, I would love to be offered some type of early retirement, I am so ready.

Deb, the part over the truck cab is the bedroom but it's a queen with storage cabinets on the sides for clothes. the tops of the cabinets are level with the top of the bed and there's an openable skylight overhead. makes it feel like a large airy bedroom. It's high enough to sit up with plenty of room overhead. we both sleep really well, it's very comfy. when I look at it from the outside I can't believe it feels so roomy inside. there are varied interior floor plans but ruck campers all use the same basics arranged in a different configurations. the bathroom is very tight so I do my contacts/ makeup at the dining table anyway. use it to p** and hand held shower. that part is not "luxurious" but it works.

we have two bars, both easy curls. one has threaded ends so it's a major production to change weights, and the collars unscrew by themselves so it rattles. DH uses that one. the plates are Ivanco plain metal ones but I don't know a store that sells them anymore. the place we bought the plates closed their doors a year ago. I don't remember where we got the bars?? the turnover in exercise equipment places is high! I'd like to get a straight bar that works with the existing plates so we don't need to start all over. I don't care if we need to use a mixture of plates.

This morning I did Athletic Step (48 min.).

Today is the last day before spring break. Yippee! I am teaching one class and giving an hour exam in the other. Then, because it is so darn beautiful, I'm going home and doing some serious garden clean-up.

When the Intensity series came out, I just did the whole thing every week for 6 or 7 months, so I did ME once a week. This was before my knee started bothering me. I think it is--by far--Cathe's best series.

I have never had a good camping experience and gave up on it a long time ago. One of the reasons I really enjoyed Yellowstone was because we stayed in their "hotels" and then went hiking by day. We just moved from site to site in the park.

Hi Ladies,

I will be carbo loading today for my long ride tomorrow. The new spinning class was great! I got a workout from head to toe. I will be doing this class 3 times per week and it is free for the time being. This is going to be good training for my long ride.

well, i am wore out, the kids are home w/dad this weekend, but they are coming back on sunday. so, i am gonna rest tomorrow. have not worked out, but i have managed to walk about 5-6 miles everyday outside w/the kids riding and playing and stuff.

so, just a brief check-in and will ttyl.

Hi Deb and any later posters--

Housemax for me today. This afternoon I'm going in for my cap highlights, which are really needed. Beautiful here today--65 and sunny. I did do some garden clean-up yesterday and will try to do more today after I have my hair done.

Have you started in on your bathroom Deb? or are you just gathering everything you need?

Are you going to watch DWTS? starts on Monday.

Now we are off to see a play, then dinner at PF Changs.

Garance, No start on the remodel yet, but yes we are gathering all the stuff that we need or can get. We picked up the standing cabinet, that goes behind the door.

I am planning on watching DWTS, at least there are only 11 couples this time. I think they learned that 16 was way too many last time.

Cathy, GrandChildrenMax is a great workout to get in when you can!
