Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B: 2/6

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Jazzercise Dancin' Abs (60 min.).

Deb, Max absolutely loves playing with other dogs and even seems to get along with a certain German Shepherd at another farm who has a bad personality according to his mistress. She was shocked when they started playing. I'm just not sure if Max would not be jealous of our attention because he is such a whore for our affection. When DH and I hug, he insists on getting between us for a sandwich hug and when I come home, I cannot get my boots off without being nibbled, licked, and mauled.

Valerie, I agree with you about the final film. It really slows down with Lisbeth in the hospital. The book IMO is much more exciting and get a real courtroom drama at the end. I also love the way she destroys her half-brother.

I'm going to try to get some snowshoeing in this weekend. I just always feel a bit pressed and worried about my classes at the beginning of the semester and probably over-prepare things I've done hundreds of times.

Hi to Josie, Joan, and Cathy!

aack! just did half ( upper body) of STS total body. the speed is FAST. I had no idea what weight to use, as 16 reps will not be the same weight as I was doing for 8. so I muddled thru it as fast as possible. You really need to know what you need ahead of time and have it ready. I spent a lot of time on pause as everything got downsized and drug in and out.

Am I totally dense here, or is there a workout card available somewhere for the new workouts? where?

Also Joan was right, the camera man seems to have an attraction for one of the new women, Amanda? spends a lot of time there. admittedly, I didn't do the whole workout, but it sure seems that way from half.

Good morning,

Well it's a balmy 7 degree here, you gotta love it right? Looking at the weather site, it looks like the highs in Tucson will be in the 80's. I have to drag all my summer clothes out to see what fits and start thinking about packing. ugh.

Garance, I think Max would be fine with another dog. I can see 2 of them romping and playing around the farm, loving it. The older they get though, the less sure you are of how they will react.

Valerie, I didn't notice STS Total Body, being that fast. Nothing like the pyramids! Yes, there is a workout sheet for it in the Workout Manager..it's at the bottom of the STS disk list. I go through the calendar function and it's easier to find for me anyway. I actually made one for just upper and lower body splits too. The pre-mixes are great on this one.

Stay warm!!

Thanks Deb, I didn't see it but didn't have much time yesterday. I'll look this morning.

Maybe the pacing seemed so fast compared to meso 3, which seems almost leisurely in comparison. DH had used the gym last and it took time to take down all his mega weights for things I could manage. I did the upper body premix as I was out of time. wow, 16 reps is a lot more than 8.

got it... somehow I didn't see it yesterday although I looked... too quickly apparently. having the list will help. I didn't have an idea of what to get set out cause I didn't realize it would be sets of 16 and 12 reps, so my usual STS weights were too heavy.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Slim Sculpt (45 min.).

Deb, I wish I were going to Tucson. It was -12 here this morning, although DH says that was down in the valley, and only -1 up on our mountain farm. Who cares? It was just. plain. cold. The snow is so frozen that Maxie can run on top of it, with the occasional fall through when he hits his chin. Very funny! He seems to love the cold weather, and just races around all morning. When he comes in at noon, he heads for his crate. DH calls him "gramps."

Valerie, that's why I don't want to start STS again--getting all the equipment right with gloves, tower, dumbbells, barbells, step, towels, mat, band, ball, and so on and on. I guess I am in a Thoreau mood--"Simplify! Simplify!"

We are doing Valentine's Day dinner out on Saturday. What are the rest of you romantic fools doing for love?

Us xc skiers call snow like that 'breakable crust". we get it a lot here because of warm daytime temps, and refreezing at night. you can be on top some of the time, but when you break thru you can get your skis caught underneath and take a very nasty fall. Max will do fine as long as you don't put him on skis!

Deb, my neighbors just got back from a month in Tucson and it was lovely. mostly 60's to mid 70's. they bicycled almost every day. Don't forget the shades and the sunscreen. It's so bright there you need glasses by 7 am for the rest of the day. Temps sound good to me but especially sunshine.

DH started STS again and leaves stuff all over. have to put away before I can do anything. he leaves 25 lb plates on the tower... need to be careful when taking the first one off, the bar would like to flip. have to pull off the 25, and stick a 10 on immediately to keep the bar in place.

will try either intensity or high reps today.

I guess this will be a prolific posting week for me!

I did High Reps & enjoyed it. the first time through... fumbling a bit on what weights to pick. they suggest on screen on some groups, like 5 or 8 lb dumbbells. I think some of the first groups of moves did not have any suggestions. so I took some notes which slowed it down too.
IMO go lighter. there are pushups. there are a lot of reps and a lot of partials, it moves quickly. nice ab section at the end too, hard but not impossible. I had not previewed most of this one so I was pausing, getting stuff and moving things around. I'm definitely pleased with this one.

Good afternoon all,

went to class last night, and then again this morning. Keegan is getting his fill of agility. Now I am going through clothes to figure out what to bring. I guess the temps are going higher than originally predicted a few weeks ago.

Garance, no Valentines day dinner, we did go for a Mexican lunch today though. What do you have planned for dinner out?

Valerie, when you say "partials"...are there lots of "low ends" type work in High Reps? I don't mind partial reps, but for some reason, low ends with squats or lunges really get to me.

Hi to Joan, Cathy, & Josie...

I may be able to check in here next week using my iPod if they have free Wifi..I have the app downloaded.

Take care and stay warm!

Deb, she had partials where I'd never seen them before. not that many on legs as I remember. a lot more than I remember from any other workout.

I got thru the leg sections fine. there's a new move in there with the sliding disks. really liked that section. there were a lot of partials on arms and shoulders, they sting!

Have a great trip to tucson. what a change

I don't even know when was the last time I could read the posts. Even when I don't have time to post I try to keep up. I had so much work because of the snow and ice that I did two weeks worth of work last week. I should do some more tonight but I may be too tired.

Second week of headaches, so I hope glasses are in sometime next week.

I think I got in 1.2 miles for the whole week.

Joan
