Good morning!

Trying to talk myself into going downstairs to get a workout in. I want to switch up the STS week that I am doing, but they are so damn long. I picked the week with the shortest workouts, but am getting bored with them.

More

should do the trick.

Will bb in a bit...

Finished STS Total Body, 1 set only pre-mix. I'll try to do the uppper only and lower only later this week.

Lots of stuff to do around here. Aslo, finally figured out how to use the iPod as and e-reader and downloaded a book from the library.:D. It's pretty cool. It does chew up a lot of battery though so I will have to be more diligent in recharging it.

What is everyone elso up to today? I know Valerie is gone, Joan is buried in returns, and Josie is doing a million push ups! :D

Quick fly by. I do need to get to work. WI today was 160.8lb I am down 4.2lb since starting 2/19. I jsut can't seem to break the 160 mark.

Joan

Hi Deb, Joan, and any later posters--

This morning I did Booty Barre (64 min.).

I did Housemax yesterday and then watched Fanny and Alexander for my film class this week. Today I must come up with some paper topics for my Shakespeare course. Going out to dinner tonight and then watching the Oscars.

So how long is the STS Total Body premix, Deb? I think it's really interesting the length, range and variety of workouts we have at this Pentagenarians and Beyond check-in. I haven't done any Cathes in ages it seems. Maybe I'm just plain getting too old to do her stuff, but the barre workouts I have been doing seem really challenging, and I like the results.

Joan, I bet you will break that 160 plateau on the diet you are on now. Good for you on the pounds you have already lost.

Good morning,

Got up early, played with my girl Grace and now am enjoying

Garance, the pre-mix that I did which is one set of everything instead of two was 45 minutes. It inlcludes abs, ( a good and different one), and a stretch. All the exercises are done in a tri-set method, eg, you do 3 leg exercises, one set of 16 for each, then move on to another part, 3 exercises etc. The full workout has you do each tri-set twice, once with 16 reps and once with 12. Also has bonus burns with the band. All in all, a pretty good rounded workout. The only thing I would say negative is that she does not do much for triceps, and does too many deadlifts. I see there was some excitement with someone saying something they shouldn't have on the Oscars last night, I didn't read the article yet on Yahoo, but it was the headline.

Joan, you will break that mark, soon. Are you drinking lots of water?

Raining like crazy here, supposed to be in the 50's today,. We'll see.

...take care,

WI 160.2lb. Down .6lb but not quite 160.

We had tornado warnings last night so I wheeled my mother into her door way . Fortunately it wasn't anything where we lived. I don't know how we would have gotten her out.

Joan

surprise, we have wifi. it is snowing like crazy and we had great skiing yesterday. too much snow to get out this morning. need to shovel our car out.

also had TV ( not good reception) and watched the oscars, boring tho they were. no surprises I think. the hosts were tedious!! need someone more edgy.

did sts TB on friday. Like that one. did the whole workout , love the AB part. Like the 16, 12 rep routine.

joan, you'll break that barrier soon!!

typing on lAPTOP IS AWFUL....

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did KCM's double bootcamp circuit (55 min.)

Deb, that sounds like an excellent workout. How long is it if you do the whole thing? I'm not sure, but I think it was Melissa Leo's acceptance speech. When I came home from Mezze's, she had just picked up her award. I may watch the opening just to see if she flubbed in some way.

Valerie, I agree with you. BRING BACK BILLY CRYSTAL! He was the best emcee of all. I was a little surprised that The Social Network did not get either best picture or best director. The buzz of course is that Academy voters are old and old-fashioned and like a good old-fashioned film like The King's Speech. I just could not get into the Social Network because I didn't like any of the characters and I thought they were exaggerated caricatures. My favorite gown was the lavender one Mila Kunis wore. Wow!

Just plain ugly outside. Rain on top of tons of snow. Worst February in my memory.

another vote for billy crystal. geez those guys last night were lame. they are so worried about running long they've tken a lot of spontaniety out of it. the 127 hr guy looked lobotomized. ann hathaway had too much caffeine.

I think the social network guy zuckerberg probBLY IS NOT A nice friendly guy. I haven't seen most of the movies yet so i'm no judge. but he may be an a-hole. I RE4AD lEO DROPPED THE F-BOMB BUT i DIDN'T HEAR IT IF SHE DID. LAPTOPS ARE HORRID.

Good morning,

decided to sleep in today, Keegan got us up at 12:30, DH took him out, then he tried again at 1:30 and he were were not falling for that again. He did not need to go out, I think he just wanted to go downstairs for some reason. DH said there was a skunk outside when he took him out the first time and he probably wanted to investigate. No Thanks!!

Garnance, I think the whole workout is about 60-63 minutes. It was someone's acceptance speech for a supporting role I think, I saw her pic on Yahoo but don;t remember the name. It was the F-Bomb.

Valerie, If you think a lap top is hard to type with, try an iPod! How is the trip otherwise?

Joan, tornadoes are much scarier than blizzards, glad all was ok. Good job on the weight loss.

Did I mention that DH got me a Nook for an early brithday present? Love it so far. I can download books from the library, but it is not instant like when you buy them from Barnes & Noble or with the Kindle from Amazon. You have to put them on a request list and then they e-mail you when they are ready to download. Even for older books, I can't believe all the "e-copies" they have are all checked out.

Still cold here, at least after it rained we didn't get the ice that some did.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Jazzercise Dancin' Abs (60 min.).

Yep, it was definitely Melissa Leo. I watched the beginning of the Oscars, and she was bleeped immediately. I think she also had a very ugly gown. Too bad, because she really looked beautiful at the Golden Globes. She plays a very tough Lowell, MA mother in The Fighter, and she really is wonderful in the role.

Deb, are you going to watch DWTS? It starts on March 21. I just looked at the "stars." I hardly know any of them, but I don't think any of them are politicians or reality show people, which is a plus. Glad you are enjoying your new nook. I still like books, and always have one with me in case of waiting, delays, etc.

How is your mini-trip going, Valerie?

Hi Ladies,

We are on our 8th week of the 12 week program. The groups have thinned out because the workouts are getting tougher, but I still love them. The exercises are too many to list and all I can say is that I'm exhausted by the end of the class. All of the people participating look thinner and they all say that they have more energy and feel great.

After the program is over, they are offering a maintenance program. In order to join, you need to graduate from the 12 weeks. We are also having a major competition on March 12th to put everything that we have learned to practice and to determine our strength.

Joan, congratulations on your weight loss! I have only lost 5 pounds on the program, but I look like I have lost more.

Valerie, I hope that you are having a great time on your mini vacation.

Garance, I'm with you on the books. I like a real book on my hands.

Hi Deb and Cathy!

Josie

we are done skiing... did about 5 hours today, pretty hard but fun. saw only 2 people the whole time. drive home tomorrow, probably 5-6 hours depending on conditions.

josie, that sounds like a terrific opportunity. hope you make ti to maintenance!

we missed some of the beginning of the oscars so missed the acceptance speech. we were having trouble getting the sound to come thru. what a stupid thing to do though. sounds like a publicity grab.

back home tomorrow, did I say that thius laptop was a PITA? well, it is.

Good morning,

Had a great nights sleep, but did not get up to work out. Did I mention I went for my yearly physical Monday afternoon and I asked my DR about taking the Tylenol PM for sleep. He said he has no problem with that, however what he thinks will happen is that after a while the diphenhydramine will no longer work for me. So I will only use them during the week, or if I am working not on weekends or vacation. I also feel like I may be coming dependent on them to sleep, and I don't want that. Otherwise, all was fine, I have to have blood work done for the normal things to check, sugar, cholesterol, and I asked him to have vit D level checked, just for the heck of it.

Garance, I will tape DWTS and see how it goes. I usually do not know the "stars" even if they are stars, so this doesn't bother me at all. I think they are more "recognizable" than last season's cast.

Josie, you are doing so great! Losing inches is just as important as weight. It is what shows.

Valerie, have a safe trip home.

Hi to Joan & Cathy,

take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did P-57 vol. 2 (57 min.).

Josie, it sounds like you have found a really challenging regimen, and it's wonderful if you can continue on maintenance. Five pounds is great, too--it's all good.

Deb, that's probably the best way to go on DWTS, but I tend to ignore a lot of the stuff I record and eventually just erase it.

Shivery cold again tonight. DS and his fiancee are going to be so disappointed when they come here from San Francisco and find all this snirt and cold. They moved west because the fiancee hates cold weather. When she visited, we would have to turn the thermostat waaaaay up.

Big afternoon teaching Fanny and Alexander. Love Bergman.

Good morning,

I guess I am taking the rest of this week as a rest week, since I have no energy to do anything. I will be going in to work late this morning, I have to be in the office for the second shift to speak with some people. I will most likely get home after midnight tonight.

Garance, yes, it was really cold here supposedly overnight, but is a balmy 15 right now. I am not happy with Kirstie Alley being on DWTS. I think she will be a copy of Marie Osmond. I am also disappointed that they paired her with Max as he is one of my favorite pros and I like him to be on long, which I don;t think he will be with her as a partner. I only record because I can't stay up that late, and it's way too long with all the commercials.

Hi to Joan, Valerie, Cathy and Josie,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Bootcamp Boogie (63 min.).

Below zero when we got up this morning. Then it's supposed to get up into the 40s by Saturday. A real roller coaster ride.

Deb, I like Max too, and worry that Kirstie Alley will bring him down. I wonder if it will be more of her dieting agony, which seems to have been going on for years now. I'm just glad Charlie Sheen won't be a contestant! Now that would be a real horror story. Wow, it sounds like you have a loooong work day ahead. I just have some reading to do for class tomorrow, and office hours.

Hi everyone! What's up?

got home yesterday around 1:30 pm. it's approx 5 1/2 hr drive. roads started out snowy and unplowed but got better, then worse, then better. Subarus are the best snow cars, ever! we just missed an accident coming over the pass. must have been someone less than 5 minutes ahead of us, flipped his car. I think a slide starts, they run the car up the gigantic snowbank on the side, and end up on the roof. no one hurt and 2 other cars had already stopped to help so we didn't need to.

got unloaded and reoriented. really tired today even though we didn't do anything yesterday except drive, unload put things away. yesterday. DH works this afternoon, I need to work out... not sure what yet... and go grocery shopping. cupboard is bare!

I've never watched DWTS but have been annoyed with kirstie alley. used to like her but the last few years she's annoying, mostly the diet issues. maybe she and charlie sheen could get together and neutralize or destroy each other? never mind, sheen will self destruct. hard to imagine anyone so out of control. wonder if his family has written him off as a lost cause? someone must be booking these interviews and appearances and moving him around. sometimes too much money prevents what's necessary.... a long long stint in rehab.

We got several feet of snow in the mts since we left on saturday. made up for a dry january. these la nina winters can be tough and hang on later than the normal year.

we got tons of exercise and my diet was good except for one notable exception. we had B&J's ice cream. 3 pints between the two of us. we hadn't had any in years. OMG it was good. I don't know what it is about snow and skiing that triggers an ice cream binge! the rest of my diet was fairly austere so no serious damage done, and back on plan yesterday. I was especially good about any snack food, chips, chocolate, cookies etc. close to zero.

Deb, I've taken Benadry ( either plain or as tylenol PM) for years and I don't build up tolerance. I don't take it every night but most nights. It's pretty benign stuff, but everyone is not the same. Coffee ( caffeine) can be an issue for me, and not getting exercise is too. I'm also pretty rigid about getting to bed at close to the same time every night. staying up too late ruins my chances for getting decent sleep.

Deb, back from costco. the black bean chipotle burgers are Morningstar Farms. bright green box. they are 210 calories per burger. they are good size and very spicy flavorful so if you cook one and serve it on a big bed of lettuce, tomato and a little avocado and (for me) more salsa and a couple crumbled corn chips, it is a decent lunch, under 400 calories. Morningstar farms makes lots of fake meat things, like sausage, chicken, garden burgers so it's a national brand. I've never seen the BB burgers anywhere but costco though. Interestingly, I used to work for the company that owned morningstar farms, don't know who owns them these days. need to read the fine print!

Good morning,

Wow, working 14 hours is a killer. Of course I could not sleep when I got home, wound up too much. Fell asleep about 2:00 and woke up around 5:00 when DH got up with Keegan. I tried to get back to sleep but could only doze a bit. I am not going in until around 1:00 but it is going to be a long day.

Did everyone get the e-mail from Cathe with all the coupons? I ordered High Reps with $5 off. If you didn't get it, I can forward it to anyone, just give me your e-mail address. Some really good prices.

Garance, I think Max will be very frustrated and impatient with Kirstie, and she will be a whiner. I hope the rapper (Master p's son) is better than his father was. Ugh he had to be one of the worst. Sugar Ray Leonard may be good.

Valerie, Welcome Back! Thanks for the info on the burgers. I'll look for them at the big box store we have here. Since it's a national brand, they may have them. I really have to get back on the wagon, gained 5 pounds since the holidays, not good.

Any plans for the weekend? Only the usual here, Keegan and agility tomorrow and lots of HouseMax.

Take care,
