Cathlete
Hey gang,

Feel much better today,. I did Burn Sets Chest, Back & Shoulders this morning and made spelt bread.

Valerie, I think S&G could be another good travel workout, since the disks are basically all you need correct? It's been a while since I did that one.

We think we are going to take the dogs to the training hall and let them run for some exercise, since it is empty today..( hopefully!)...

They usually run around outside, but it can be icy on the patio and dangerous..

I'll check in later to see who is around...:)

Hi Deb and any later posters--

I did Legs premix 7 (62:08). This just eliminates the standing floor work. I will do bis, tris, and core tomorrow. I am backtracking to week 7.

Oh, that's good news, Deb. Glad you are feeling better. I have seen all of the Oscar-nominated feature films except for Django Unchained. I'm not a big fan of Tarantino. I think Argo will win, Daniel Day-Lewis for Lincoln, Jennifer Lawrence for Silver Linings Playbook, and either Spielberg or Ang Lee for best director. Best supporting actress is probably Anne Hathaway for Les Mis, and I'm not sure about best supporting actor, but hoping Deniro gets it.

I'm tired of winter. Grey and drizzly today.

Happy weekend everyone!

Good evening ladies,

Today was Super Cuts. I have been really off schedule this week with my workouts but somehow I did manage to fit all of this week's rotation in!

We must have received easily 8 to 10 inches of snow today. I never left the house. At times it was coming down so hard. Once we got everything done that we needed to do we all just relaxed by the fire and watched movies all afternoon. Turned out to be a really nice family day.

Glad you are feeling better Deb!

Got to run....getting ready for the Oscars!

Deb, yes, just disks for S&G. KPC is another one that doesn't need much. the floor work would be better with a mat. If I were in a motel, I'd lay down a couple bath towels. there were a couple moves using a fire walker loop but that would pack easily too. I've never used the disks on carpet since I have laminate floors but that would be a simple switch, and other people have said it works fine.

Wish I'd seen a few of the films. most go to disk release in mid march. I will eventually see all except les mis.... hate musicals. I'm so-so on Tarantino, but DH likes him, so I put it on the queue. I wanted to get reminded of the directors style though it sounds like zero dark thirty is pretty much getting ignored in awards. I stuck "the Hurt Locker" back on my queue too. I forgot that got best picture... but decided maybe I'd watch it again. all the movie discussions remind me of movies I've seen and wouldn't mind repeating.

Did the spin disk yesterday. That is a nice workout... the more I do it, the more I like it. yard work today.

MIL is transferred to a hospice facility. we thought she'd be gone yesterday but is hanging on. she took a very sudden downturn after she was moved and IV fluids stopped. DH was going to fly to see her, but decided against it late yesterday. better to remember her from before.

Good morning,

This morning I did an I-Tread workout. Miss using the treadmill. so I had to sneak one in this week.

Garance, about doing the Legs workout....is the standing floor work all the regular weight work? or is it the barre work, etc? It looks like some of your predictions were correct? I didn't read it all on Yahoo news, but saw that Jennifer (?) fell? when accepting the Oscar?

Lori, what a nice day you had! Sometimes the it take the weather to keep everyone enjoying a family day.

Valerie, sorry about your MIL..hope it is peaceful..will you and your DH be going there for a memorial/funeral? My SIL wrote us yesterday that my DH's older sister was given 6 months to live. She is home with her husband caring for her. They said there is nothing more they can do for her. Her heart is going fast. She was born with a faulty heart, and they did not expect her to live past 10. She is around 64..or 65 and has lived a pretty active life until the last 10 years or so.

Work, then dog class, nothing exciting going on...the start of another week.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did premix 1 on bis and tris (56:01). I was supposed to do premix 2, but I was a bit blurry this morning from staying up too late.

Deb, the barre section follows the standing leg work, which is conventional stuff--walking lunges, forward leaning lunges with cups, plie wall squats, low pulse lunges, etc. You can take a look at the book's listings. That's sad about your SIL, and 65 is pretty young.

Yes, I did a pretty good job predicting winners this year, except on best supporting actor. Some really strange moments that I suppose were supposed to be transgressive and amusing and were not--the song about seeing boobs on various actresses, some strange animation thing with Paul Rudd and Melissa McCarthy--and, as usual, too long. Loved Adele, but I had to stop playing her CD because I couldn't get her songs out of my head. I enjoyed it, but then, I always do. Jane Fonda looked terrific in a yellow, form-fitting gown. Hard to believe she's 75.

Lori, we didn't get any snow here. Just drizzle. How did you like the Oscars?

Valerie, I hope your MIL is not suffering.

Hi Ladies!

This morning I ran while watching Downton of course! Started season 3 and still loving it. Tonight DH is working out so I will do Bis and Tris burnsets while he is on the bike.

Valerie and Deb I am so sorry about your loved ones. Very sad. Please know I am thinking of you two and sending prayers to you and your families.

Garance...I kind of was bored with the show. I agree on the awkardness of the boobs song. I think most did not find that one funny at all. I did record it and ended up going to bed to read. I will skim thru it throughout the week. I know what you mean about Adele. Love her music. I wake up every morning to "Rolling in the Deep".

What do you ladies think of all the new DVD's? Can't believe Cathe has 7 more. I like the discriptions of them and I am sure I will jump on the bandwagon. Says they will not be out until mid to late summer. By then I know I will be looking for something fresh. Kind of dissapointed that there is no heavy bag in the kickboxing one as I love working out with it.

Have a great night!

Deb, 65 sounds awfully young. MIL is 85 so she's had a good long life. she deserves to exit soon though. I sure wonder how much someone can feel even if they're on a lot of IV pain meds. husband is changing his feelings about how this kind of death should be handled, after his father and now, mother doing the slow lingering pain filled times that seem endless. we both think hospice should be more aggressive, even if it speeds up death.

I liked the show well enough last night. the boobie song,,,ehhh, not so great. definitely better than the mess last year with Franco and hathaway. I loved seeing michelle obama participating. she is such a classy lady! Yes, Jane looked gorgeous, and michael douglas looked good too. of course it will take a while before I get to see all the movies. I picked up a copy of Argo at costco today. decided I wanted to see it enough not to wait for months since netflix will be in 'very long wait" mode for a while. I can't say if I agreed with all the selections, I usually don't, but weight gain sure does make the added years more obvious.. As we all know, it takes some concerted effort not to pack on the pounds as you get older.

Did a hike today, 5-6 miles with about 2000 feet elevation gain. Not a tremendous amount but enough when you haven't hiked much for months. took 3 1/2 hours RT, with about 20 min lunch stop. cold and raining to start, but got dry and breezy as the day went on. tomorrow will do another hike and a mt bike.

Good morning,

Good class last night. I went alone, John was feeling pretty rocky, I hope he doesn't have that stomach flu that is going around here.

Well the new workouts are announced...now to decide what to do. Pre-sale starts March 1. There are only a couple I would be interested in, but the price of all 6 or 7 is so good, you could almost order the bundle and sell the ones you don't like on Ebay or Amazon. I see no upper body workouts, ..step, ( which I would sell immediately)...kickbox, which I am not too fond of anymore....decisions, decisions....

What do you all think?

At this point, Pedal Power only. I haven't found any other spin workouts (other than Cathe's) that were fun.
which reminds me, Josie how are you liking your spin bike? Do you have any other DVD's you like to spin to?

For me, half the year I do outdoor activities. indoor workouts in winter. we ski, snowshoe, hike in winter just not as regularly. this year timing has been bad, with too much rain on our days off. I always squeeze in some weights but I think I'm maxed out on what I can reasonably use. I'm sure I could enjoy them, but I can't even rotate thru what I have.

yesterday was great... 3 hrs 45 min vs an hour inside at home.... we're doing another one today. weather should be better today. going to try a hike and a ride if it's not too windy along the water.

Good morning ladies!

Last night was burn set bis and tris followed by 100 rep biceps. Felt really strong after this workout! Ran this morning and going to try out STS Legs tonight in place of Xtrain Legs. I will let you know how this goes.

Valerie..hiking out side is defenietly better than working out to a DVD in your home!

Deb I am sure I will end up buying them all as I agree with you they are a great price. I like all the workouts except I am not a huge fan of flat out dancy complex step moves. Years ago I enoyed it but prefer circuit type work outs using the step...whether it be like the Imax's or weight intervals. So if I preorder and never do the complex step routine I still think I will be ahead money wise!

Josie...which spin bike did you buy? I remember you mentioned the make but can't seem to remember and do you like it?

Have a great day!

Hi Ladies,

Had a great weekend! I got to see a lot of my running buddies on Sunday.
We had at lest 50 people celebrating Jeannie’s life.

Today I did the Max Cardio Circuit. This kicks my butt every time. Lori, you would love this one  I’m still down 10lbs and probably have hit a plateau. We will see if the needle moves next week.

I bough my bike from Sport Authority on line and the brand is Exerpeutic LX7. I paid $304.00 which included free shipping and I found a coupon by going to Google and typing Sport Authority coupons. The Original price was $349.00. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Valerie, I downloaded some spinning classes from you tube, but have not done them yet.
I like Cathe’s DVD’s at the moment. Once I get bored, I will probably give the downloads a try.

Hi to Deb, Joan and Garance!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Hard Strikes, premix 17 (45:06) so I won't have to do the additional core 1 tomorrow with ch, ba, and sh.

Deb, I will probably do the presale because I still love Cathe's step workouts and if I don't like something, I can sell it on Amazon, which has been very successful for me.

Lori, Adele's "Someone Like You" would make me cry almost every time I listened to it and was the song that I couldn't get out of my head. Season 3 of Downton Abbey has been very controversial, so I will be interested to hear what you think. What meso of STS legs are you doing?

Valerie, Argo was really quite taut and suspenseful, and surprisingly so because you know the outcome. The Hollywood stuff is funny. I'm not sure how I feel about speeding up death. A couple of my sisters and my mom died so quickly I felt like I didn't have a chance to say goodbye. One sister literally dropped dead with a massive brain hemorrhage, and my mom had a heart attack, and another sister was unconscious by the time I managed to get to where she lived.

Josie, that's lovely to celebrate your friend's life.

Good morning & .....HAPPY HUMP DAY!!

No workout today, I could not bear to have the alarm ring at 4:00 when I was up at 2:30 with 2 dogs. So another messed up rotation week. Will do something Friday and start over Sunday.

Garance, how is Max doing?

Lori, did you end up just getting STS legs instead of the whole series? I must have missed that. I feel the same way as you and Garance, I will probably get the new series and then sell what I don't like, the step workouts would be the first to go for me. You can't beat the pre-sale price.

Josie, nice that so many turned out for the run in honor of your friend. Are you looking at getting the new series?

Valerie, I am in awe of your outdoor activities, could not see me doing that even in good weather! LOL.

Work, then a late agility class tonight....dogs, dogs, and more dogs....

Hi Ladies,

I could not get up this morning but will do my workout when I get home. Today’s workout is Max Interval Plyometrics. I modify quite a bit on this DVD.

Deb, I do not plan on buying the new series, but I will buy the spinning DVD from you :)

Hi to Garance, Joan, Valerie and Lori!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Chest, Back, and Shoulders (51:16).

Deb, I didn't want to get up this morning either. More wind, and slush falling from the sky. Ugh! Max hasn't done any limping for a long time now, and he runs like a little high speed train. Hilarious when I come home--he watches from the top of the hill and then does a little crazy race around the circuit of our house and ends up under the arbor vitae where I think he likes to scratch his back. We just think the vet was feeling what she wanted to feel, because there is no sign of injury anymore.

Anyone watch the PBS documentary on the women's movement last night? I enjoyed it, but wanted to hit Phyllis Schlafly. She seemed so proud of stopping passage of the ERA. What a frightful creepy woman.

I can't wait for winter to be over.

Quick run by......

Garance and anyone else....did you see the new line up for DWTS? Max is no longer in the pro line up....some possible controversial split hinted at......I have decided not to watch this upcoming season...

Good afternoon ladies!

Too funny! Something must have been in the air becuase I just could not get up to workout this morning either! Planing on All out Hiit when I get home.

I only downloaded a couple of the STS legs to try them out. Last night I did Legs from Meso 2 and really liked it. Feeling slight DOMS today. I also downloaded one of the plyo legs in meso 3 and I LOVE this one!!

Josie, sounds like it was a beautiful day for you and your friends celebrating Jeannie's life. I am going to try out max cardio circuit this weekend. listening to you do the workouts has made me want to give them a second chance. i most likely will not do them exclusivly but will throw them in my rotation after I finish Xtrain. Thanks for your bike info. I have been reading about so many I think I am getting overwhelmed! Yours does have good reviews and I like the price.

Garance...I love any Adele song!

chat with you all tomorrow!

I'd swear I posted yesterday but nothing to be found.

Lori, DH and I bought a LaMond bike. it was a little more expensive but with both of us using it we wanted to be sure it held up.

of all the people I hope history treats badly, I do hope phyllis schafly is at the top of the list. WAAAY up there!! a nasty, mean, vindictive creature.

we did a mt bike ( 2 hours) and a shorter hike( 2 miles) yesterday, too windy where the original walk would have been.
this morning we got word that MIL passed on this morning. so glad she finally is at peace. she was delightful, I could not have had a better MIL. I wish she hadn't had to struggle so long at the end.

DH and I went and did a fast 20 mile ride to spend some energy. funeral will be next wed. it will be a big day-long thing, just like for FIL. DH's family does funerals on a grand scale. we are getting our air reservations straightened out since DH had made some for last weekend that got cancelled but not refunded. it will be a fast 36 hour trip.

Good morning ladies,

Terrible night. Hubby and I had a violent stomach bug. Wasn't until 3am that we were able to get some relief and not have to run to the bathroom every 1/2 hour. I have not been this sick in a long long time. It came on so fast too. I ate a light supper, did all out low impact watched an episode of Downton then we went to bed. I woke up at 11pm and new everything was coming up and it went downhil from there. Crazy!

I am at work now, slept in and came in late. Unfortunately, there were a couple of things that needed to get down. I will be leaving shortly then going straight to bed. No workout today.

Valerie, I am sorry to hear about your MIL. Sounds like she is at peace. Always hard to lose a parent no matter the circumstances. Thoughts and prayers to you and your familly.

Take care ladies and I am hoping for a better night!
