Good morning,

No let up in the temps here...and we are getting a little more snow. I hope to get a workout in this morning.

Valerie, an app that has the sounds of the birds would be really cool! My grandmother was great at imitating the various birds, and she would "call" them when she heard them out in the fields etc. Is "The Bridge" on something on Amazon? will need to go over and see.

Lynda, after I told you about The Vicar of Dibley, for some reason none of the seasons are available on Prime. I was in the middle of Season 3 and they had all the specials separated for some reason, and I was watching them as well, and now none of them are available. They don't even come up in the "search" function. If you go over to the regular Amazon, and go to Prime, you can see them, but they say "not available" Strange. Your DH was one of the lucky ones with the epidural. Mine lasted 2 hours, just long enough for the numbing med for the shot to wear off, then it was back with a vengeance.

Josie, that brunch sounds delicious! Yes, snow is CRAP.....we are so tired of it. And the bone chilling temps are getting OLD!

Hi to Judy & Lori,

Stay warm!

Good morning ladies...

Yesterday I did Suzanne Bowen's streaming for just over an hour. I put together 3 of her segments and I felt like I had a great workout.

But then I ruined my efforts when my DS and I went out to eat for our highly anticipated meal. It was delicious and I ate it all! lol!!! I really am ok with this because after today's workout (thinking heavy bag) it will be snow max again. Or should I say crapmax!!!! Yup crappy is exactly how I have been describing things this winter. My DS could not believe the amount in the yard. After they took more of the snow off the roof yesterday I could not open the back door for Chester to go out. He was kind enough to dig it out for us and make a path for him. Poor Chester. I think the novelty has worn off for him too!

Deb...weird that one minute it was there and the next gone. So far we have made it a week with local channels only and do not miss all the other channels. Today at some point I'll sign on to masterpiece theater and hook my ipad to the tv and watch Downton to catch up. The only time I used our DVR was for Masterpiece and Game of Thrones. Not sure what I am going to do when Game of Thrones comes back in April. If HBO offers their HBO2GO app I may purchase and keep just for GoT then discontiune when the season is over. Hoping the price is competitive with Netflix.

Valerie...they are still sending a new door even though they do not want the old one back correct? I guess it is just not worth the expense to them to ship back. What a pain to have to wait. How is your shoulder? Weird that mine has been feeling great even with all this shoveling. Has'nt bothered me at all lately.

Josie..your brunch sounded nice. How are you feeling better?

Judy...glute has been good. Doing barre yesterday I felt I really stretched it well. I have not looked at Deb's link yet but plan to later today.

Have a great day all!

Just noticed I used the wrong date for today....I guess the "retirement" life is setting in sooner, where I don't have any idea what date it is! :)

Yes, Lori, sending us a new door (thru Lowes) . DH talked to their Cus ser. person didn't sound very smart so we are keeping everything and documenting all and will take it back to Lowes even if they don't want it. need to make sure no one tries to bill us again. will wait for new one and do parts check first. it's a pain because it barely fits in our car, is big and heavy and awkward. and we already went thru this once. the door is in two pieces and is supposed to come with the mounting parts on the top of it. not sure how they attach but not anything we can do.

garden day yesterday. I pulled up a huge dandelion with a flower on it.

pulled out our countertop and doing some valve replacement on the sinks in anticipation of new countertop/sinks Tuesday.

I feel for you all... we had a year like that a few years ago and it seemed like it would never end.

Oooo I love fish tacos! enjoy! DH won't eat them so restaurants only for me. His sister is a lot like him wanting everything " mild" although she does eat most kinds of fish.

"The Bridge' is an American remake of a scandanavian series. we get it on Hulu Plus. I think it's only 2 seasons but we are re-watching season 1 because it was more complicated than most and in re-watching it we're getting more out of it. lots in Spanish but with subtitles.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did High Reps (65:00).

Pandora (the new storm) turned out to be very little trouble--just a few inches--and we have a glorious warm day in the 30s. Wow--it feels like spring. Tomorrow, however, it's the deep freeze again. Yes, Josie, it's all crap at this point.

Deb, I did look up The Vicar of Dibley and saw that it was unavailable. I thought maybe you were getting it through PBS or something.

Lori, Max doesn't mind the snow so much, but he definitely seems depressed by all the time he must stay in because it's too cold for him. As soon as he starts holding one of his paws up, DH puts him inside.

Off to Mezze's for dinner tonight. Fish tacos--yum!

Good evening ladies!

Today I ended up doing Cathe Live Low Impact Circuit. It is similar to her new RWH low impact but longer. Really liked this one.

Lynda...very sad that it is in the 30's and we think it is a nice day. I actually took Chester for a nice walk. The sun was out and it felt so good. We loved it!

Valerie...i would do the same thing and keep a good record. I bet you can't wait for this project to be over with!

Oscars tonight! Looking forward to it.

Have a great night all!

Good morning and Happy Monday!

It's a balmy 4 degrees here right now. I could not sleep any longer and once I am awake, the dogs start moving around and wanting to go outside. I can take a nap later.

Valerie, I can't believe that they sent you a door without hardware, and they don't even want it back! What are you supposed to do with it? Put it on the curb? That is very strange. Now you have to haul it back to the store. Will you have to pick up the new one and bring that home too?

Lynda, fish tacos are great! The little family place we go to most Friday's has them as a special once in a while.

Lori, after what you and DH, DS have been through, sometimes you just have to go all out and have a comfort meal! I'm sure all the Snowmax you have done will compensate for any added calories. We never got into the 30's this weekend like they had originally predicted. I think 23 was the high yesterday. . I like Masterpiece Mystery the best, along with Downton Abbey of course.

Anyone interested in something new thing to watch...I watched the full first season of Grantchester on PBS..I like it a lot. The last episode of the first season was last night. I will watch it later along with Downton.

Getting a workout in and some other stuff to do around here......I need to drop off papers at the bank or I would not go out at all.

Hi to Josie, & Judy,

Take care and stay warm!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Dancin' Abs (58:00).

I couldn't stay up to watch the final awards on the Oscars. I was weirded out by Lady Gaga singing a Julie Andrews medley from The Sound of Music. She even sounded like her, but she looks so different. Glad to hear Birdman took both best film and best director, and not Boyhood for either. Too bad about Keaton. I just don't think skillful impersonation of a real person who is available for mimicking is the same as acting, so even though Eddie Redmayne was brilliant as Stephen Hawking, I preferred Keaton.

Freezing here again, so Max is antsy and depressed. I'm just tired of these sub-zero temps.

Deb, was Grantchester immediately following Downton Abbey?

Fish tacos were super good last night.

Lori, sounds like you have your groove back on exercising.

I did a short spin workout yesterday, a 35 min premix, and my shoulder exercises. this morning we went on a 4 hour hike that was surprisingly difficult. muddy, slippery, steep, and lots of ice and frozen mud. nice but not a repeat. the lake was half frozen yet. not crowded but not that great a destination. 4 hours RT. colder in the mountains but not "cold". close to 60 degrees down here today, DH is tilling the garden.

we did plumbing preliminaries yesterday. pulled our old sinks and faucets, and made sure the hookups are ready for new ones. as usual, not as simple as it could have been so took us a while but ready to go for tomorrow.
the shower doors are the bypass ones, and they mount to stationary framepiece on top while the doors glide back and forth. the top of the doors are supposed to have some type of bracket to connect to the frame. these had nothing. nada. zilch. I do NOT see how a door could get out of the factory with "nothing". anyway, this will delay things a few more weeks. the counter is "in" tomorrow and the sinks should be a quick connection.

I watched the Oscars last night. god it was painful. most award shows are a little livelier than this. tedious. awful music numbers including the lady Gaga /Julie Andrews thing that Lynda mentioned. I confess I didn't know what lady gaga actually looked like!. however, toward the end I was emptying the DW, doing laundry, anything to stay busy. seems everyone had to make some political speech. not a lot of lighthearted fun and joking, just preachy and tedious. I can't comment on winners as I haven't seen anything but Wild. I think I've taken Grand Budapest hotel off the queue. do not like that kind of thing, and Boyhood maybe not sure, ...only because I love Patricia Arquette. Not sure I will bother with watching this ( oscars) again. ack.... like a no anesthetic root canal.

Good evening ladies,

Today is my rest day and enjoying the evening.

Lynda, yes I had a good workout week! We watched a little of the oscars but that was it. What was that bosch series you spoke of recently? Is this on Amazon? My friend and are thinking to start watching it. I saw ladt gaga's performance on the news and thought the same thing....the voice is the same but just could not get past that it was coming from lady gaga!

Valerie...obviously someone was asleep on the job to let that get out of the factory! How is your shoulder? Lol loved your root canal comment!!!!

Deb...thanks for the reccomndation on grantchester. I had seen it advertised but forgot all aboit it. I'll try it out. Are your counting the days????

Hi to Judy and Josie!

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!

Yesterday I did HIIT Circuit Lower Body, the premix without the blasts. No workout today, we got home around 10 last night from class, and I did not get to sleep until almost midnight.

Lynda, yes, Grantchester was on right after Downton....it was only 6 episodes...although if you look at Masterpiece where they have the Live Episode listings, it looks like it was 8. Strange way they list things. I could not find any 8 episodes. I liked it a lot. They are filming the second season according to the site. Not sure why, but after DA, I am so hooked on British TV shows.

Valerie, that bathroom project is really a "PROJECT"! with the door issue, and you and DH doing a lot of the prep work. I hope you can post pics here when its done.

Lori, Yes, I am now counting the days....it's my last week. The "Bosch" series is a new one done especially for Amazon. It is based on the books by Michael Connelly that are about Harry Bosch, an LA detective. Good books, and this series is really good. I hope they will continue it.

Hi to Josie, & Judy,

Not much going on here.....cold, cold weather....we never got above -3 here yesterday. I am so tired of being cold. It's actually -4 degrees here now...supposed to go up to 21!!

My sister ( 3 yrs younger) is getting cataract surgery today. she has to have it done in a hospital because her seizures are not controlled enough to do in a clinic setting. she has cataracts in both eyes and has since around age 30. She really got the short end of the stick on health.

It sounds like Oscar audience was less than ever. I'd hate to see the program go away entirely but someone has to address the endless technical awards that must only interest industry insiders. I didn't watch any of the pre-Oscar hoopla but 4 hours is way too long, and after not watching regular TV for so long, the endless commercials were obnoxious.

Shoulder again is gradually getting better. not sure if I will get another cortisone shot. it is way better than it was at first but I could not do a weight workout without problems.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did ch, sh, tris from RWH (39:30).

The Oscars were okay last year, but this year the jokes were really lame and sometimes offensive--especially that one about the balls on the gown of a woman who had announced that she lost her son to suicide due to PTSD from Iraq. She was getting an Oscar for a documentary on a veterans' suicide hotline. And the ongoing 'joke' about NPH's Oscar ballot in a lockbox was tedious. Lots of awkward moments, not least seeing NPH in his tidy whities mimicking Keaton in Birdman or John Travolta, who couldn't keep his hands off Idina Menzel. Lady Gaga singing an endless tribute to a 50 year old film at 11:15 P.M. put me straight to bed. The only host I really liked was Billy Crystal. Wouldn't mind seeing Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as hosts. They were great at the Golden Globes.

This weather is just plain depressing. I don't want to go outside at all and keep postponing anything that gets me away from warmth.

Deb, I will look up Grantchester. I watched my recorded DA last night, and found it full of interesting tensions and melodrama. One more episode next week. I have also been watching Better Call Saul, which is turning out to be very good, even though a spin-off from Breaking Bad.

Valerie, that's too bad about your sister. Is there a reason she waited so long to get them removed--or were they just steadily getting cloudier?

Lynda, so true. Thanks for the tip, I had no clue why whats- his- name host was on stage in his underwear. he really did not hit the right tone. the ongoing thing about his oscar predictions was not funny and Octavia spencer( think that's her name) seemed confused about the whole business. I did not get what sean penn said about green cards? that was late so you probably missed it. I was a bit put off by the big trend to make political statements. not new but this year I found it annoying. I enjoyed ellen last year I don't like her that much but she seemed to hit a lighter congenial note.
Billy Crystal was the best. I was thinking after this year that even james franco/anne Hathaway seemed like a pleasant memory.

No idea why my sister has cataracts, but they've progressed to a point where she can't see much with one eye. she has no money and crummy health insurance. now she's Medicaid. but because her seizures are not well controlled she has to have the procedure done in a hospital.... and that costs a lot more. Hopefully it will be a smooth process.

we did a mt bike this morning. 2 hours. it's nice to see that a climb we had to stop on 3x in January, we completed without a stop today. quite muddy .

Good evening ladies!

This morning was a ruthless workout and tonight was cathe live hi lo cardio kickboxing. This may be now one of my new favorite live workouts. Moves along fast with lots of old and new moves.

Well I guess I did not miss much then. We only watched a little of the oscars. Seeing the news the following morning all the talk about travolta creeped us out! I liked Ellen and thought she did a great job. Loved Billy Crystal too. Tina and Amy would be hysterical! I have been hearing more and more about Saul and the reviews have been good. I am behind with my DA. I think I am on episode 8.

Valerie...great job on the ride!!! Sorry to hear about your sister. Glad to hear shoulder is getting better.

Judy....did you see Nathalie mentioned you in the spinerval thread? Looking for your reviews and you are the perfect person for a review!

Deb...I have not read any of the books. My friend has and enjoyed them. The main character in the show has come into my DH's restaurant a couple of times. His son goes to school in Boston so when he visits he comes by. Kind of cool. :)

Hi to Josie!

Hi Everyone,

It's so cold here. I can't wait for warmer weather and sunshine!

I did an hour Spinerval yesterday, and some stretching and foam roller work today. I wish I could say my sciatic problem was better but it's really not. I'm going to go to the doctor next week and try to get a cortisone shot. Between the weather and not being able to workout the way I want to, I'm starting to get a little depressed. I shouldn't complain too much though, I can still do core work and upper body. I do miss my leg workouts and doing longer bike rides.

Deb-congrats on your last week! That must feel awesome!

Valerie-great bike ride! I'm sorry about your sister, I hope she will be ok. I didn't watch the Oscars, and I wouldn't have known what Lady Gaga looked like either.

Lynda-I'm with you, I hate this weather and I am doing everything I can to avoid going outside.

Lori-thanks for mentioning the Spinerval thread. I haven't been on the forum that much lately and wouldn't have known about it otherwise.
Great job with your workouts! I'm finally going to get into the Suzanne Bowen workouts. I think that I will be doing more Barre work, it might be better for me than heavy weights, at least for now.

Hi to Josie! Stay warm everyone!

Judy

Good morning and Happy Hump Day!

More snow overnight. The drift in the back against the back door was about 2 feet high, the dogs had to jump through it to get to the yard. We heard yesterday on the news that the record was broken and this February is the coldest February in the 140 years of them recording temperatures here in Buffalo. The average temp so far is 11. Also the record for days with snow on the ground was broken....it has been 52 days, the previous record was 42. Enough is enough.

Valerie, that is too bad about your sister. Does she have anyone there to help her? Better to rest the shoulder, with all the plumbing work you are doing, you are doing enough with it anyway.

Lynda, I think you will like Grantchester. Another small British town, with interesting characters. How many seasons is Breaking Bad?

Lori, I watched the clip of Cathe's Live HIIT Low Impact workout....Cathe had glasses on? Oh, if the main character of Bosch came into your DH's restaurant, you HAVE to watch it! I am surprised your DH doesn't want to see it now. That is really cool!

Judy, I couldn't find the spinerval thread that Lori mentioned....I bet they are saying you are a Spinerval maniac! :)

Josie, what's up? How are the workouts going with the trainer and DH?

Work, then home to get warm and stay in the house!

Stay warm,

Good morning... Our countertop went in but we can't finish anything until the glue dries. I didn't know how quartz was installed. sinks are glued in place and "no touch" for 48 hours. we bought a remnant and got a better price, but the color is perfect. very plain medium brownish that blends well with tile, undermount sinks.. relieved!. still can't do sinks/ faucets for 2 days. of course the elusive shower door is lurking out there too.

Judy, I'm glad I'm not the only one who had no clue what lady gaga looked like... I don't follow pop music much and everytime I've seen her she's been in some outrageous outfit.

My brother and our cousins wife help my sister a little. she can be very abrasive and hard to deal with so has trouble keeping anyone close. plus her house has deteriorated back into the total pig sty it was before everyone helped clean it so there is this sense of "help" not doing much good. I talk to her on the phone but not much else.

I try to use my shoulder normally. the current flare seems to have gone away quickly. I'm been lifting heavy things ....grocery bags, the 60+ kayak, and not trying to avoid "normal" use. I think I will go back for another PT session and see how it goes. we thought about a hike today but it's cloudy so maybe will try another new mt bike area. probably not as busy as it will be in "spring". daffodils rhodies, magnolias, dogwoods blooming all over. Family in CA is saying that spring has been early and warm for them too, and with snowpack only at 21% of normal they are already worried about the ongoing drought.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did both low impact Hiit workouts back to back (50:08). I really don't think the shorter workouts are enough for me, which is why I always seem to do my KCM workouts back to back. I liked doing both of them together a lot, but still don't think it's as challenging as doing After Burn.---maybe because AB has a lot of weight intervals too and especially a lot of shoulder work.

Deb, Grantchester is not on Amazon Prime. It's $1.99 per episode. I think Breaking Bad is seven seasons. Yep, I heard that this is the coldest February in the records too for Albany, which is where our local station is. I believe it.

Valerie, I bet you will be so happy when the whole project is finished. It sounds like it is all coming together nicely. Maybe cataract surgery will help your sister see the world differently in a good way. As long as you are doing things with your shoulder on a daily basis, there's no reason to push it.

Lori, the actor playing Bosch is Titus Welliver. He might be a familiar face to you, because he played a rather unlikable state's attorney on the Good Wife. I wasn't sure I would like him as Bosch, but I think he nailed it. A good series, and I hope they do another season.

Judy, you probably should see an orthopedist if the sciatic pain won't go away. Sometimes cortisone can get rid of the inflammation immediately.

Not as cold here today, and the sun is out--trala!

Good evening ladies,

This morning was a ruthless workout and tonight Idid RWH Legs premix strength only.

Deb....I'll say the legs strength only really packs a punch. Short but a great one. I think I mentioned this before but I am always amazed that I feel so worked in such a short time. My DH just mentioned to me tonight about starting to watch the series. Yes Cathe does wear glasses in several of her live classes! I really like that low impact one. Poor doggies. Even Chester is having a hard time this winter. The spinerval post is under open discussion.

Lynda...yes that is his name! Could not remember it. We see him a lot on xfinity commercials. I have never seen The Good Wife but have seen him in Sons of Anarchy and he was also in The Town. Great movie by the way. My DH loves watching Boston movies because he says I sound just like them. And it is true. Growing up in New Bedford I was destined to speak like I do. So happy my son does not speak like me at all.

Valeie....I agree with Lynda I bet you'll be glad when this project is over. Oh Spring seems so far away for me. So sad the house is back to how it was. I remember them pitching in and cleaning it up.

Judy...glad you saw the post. You seem to be the Spinerval Queen!!!! I love barre and feel it really gives me a great workout without having to use heavy weights. I feel it really has shaped my legs nicely.

Hi to Josie!
