Cathlete
Good morning,

Today I did the upper body premix from KCM Weights. It felt good working out again.

Anyone download the free app for Pandora music? I just put it on my iPod, John has it on his, and we just bought a new amplifier for the stereo system that is blue tooth enabled so we can play Pandora music in the house....( this was an early Christmas present for him).

Valerie, glad your shoulder Is getting better, sometimes rest is the best medicine.

Lynda, will have to go over o Amazon and look at those kissing balls. Are they supposed to replace mistletoe?

Lori, I still have not made the "leap" to streaming Cathe workouts, but maybe soon. Do you know when they will have the rotation e-book available? I'd like to see what she has for rotations using these workouts. I will probably sell the Plyo one on Ebay. Too much impact and it has step, which I am not fond of any more.

Hi to Josie, & Judy,

Dog Club Christmas party later today, that should be fun.

Take care

Deb I downloaded the Kindle app to our ipad. It opens but I don't see where to see any content. I guess I expected to see a list of stuff available somewhere but I don't. we will be seeing cousin & wife today and they might be able to point me on the next step. there is one book in particular I want to see, just to compare the kindle version to the paper version we have.

My shoulder is dramatically better since yesterday. incredible change. It has stopped aching, the sore spot seems to be gone. wow. wish I knew what I did to cause this because I don't want to repeat it. Dh says I should be symptom free for a week before I do anything significant, so I think I'll return to yoga Tuesday and maybe do a total body workout using very light weights tomorrow.

there was a "local" interview with Cheryl Strayed( Wild) in the S. times today. I'll post a link so you can read if you want. I'll edit it in shortly.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Classical Stretch, but only about 40 minutes, because it froze. Not sure why because it played fine last week. I did all of the standing stretches and they certainly felt good. Only did about 10 minutes of the core. We did get a nice little hike in search of our Christmas tree, though. We will have to put it up before the weather gets bad--maybe tomorrow.

Deb, my kissing balls are hanging outside, so they certainly don't substitute for mistletoe. I did see that some of the ones they show at Amazon do have mistletoe in them.

Valerie, that's good news about your shoulder. I'm pretty sure I hurt mine when I was hoisting a heavy barbell over my head doing STS. That's why I sold my STS.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!

Good evening ladies!

Today I decided to do Ride and loved it. Been a while since I did this one so it felt really fresh. I have downloaded all the new workouts and the Post Office delivered my DVD's TODAY on a SUNDAY!! Crazy!! I was very happy to say the least. I previewed most of them and and I know I am going to love them. Tomorrow I am starting the rotation with RWH for 2 months then the last month I'll do the rotation that combines RWH and the Low Impact series for a 3 month rotation. I like that RWH rotation is only 5 days a week so I should be able to fit in some Barre for variety.

Lynda...I now understand Kissing Balls!!!! I hate when you are really enjoying a workout and then the Dvd feezes. So fustrating!

Deb...did you find the guide? Cathe mentioned it is not completely updated yet but it does have some rotations to get you started.

Valerie....yes Kindle app shows you digital items you have purchased from Amazon. This way you can have access to the items on your kindle on your Iphone or Ipad. I read books on my Kindle but prefer to have magazines sent to my Ipad. Visuals are better. I actually think you can get to the amazon store to purchase from your kindle app. Many people do not have Kindles and only use their Kindle app so there must be a way.

Hi to Judy and Josie!!!!

Have a great night!

I previewed a little of the RWH workouts today and I can't wait to get started! I also like that the rotations are 5 days and since the workouts are under an hour, it would be easy to combine them with something else. The Spinerval Challenge started on December 1st. That has 6 workouts(Spinervals) a week, with the Saturday workout being 3 hours+. I can do the Mon-Fri rides ok, but I am just not ready for 3 hours of cycling right now. I'm thinking of making my own "Challenge" using part of the Spinervals schedule and RWH for the rest of December.

Good morning, & Happy Monday!

Well I overate at the dog club party last night, BIG TIME! Time to start back with the NG eating plan. It really helped. At least I got up and did a treadmill workout this morning.

Valerie, glad your shoulder is better. Yes, you have to go to Amazon.com, purchase something ( or get it for free if you find a free book you like) then you can open it with your Kindle app on the iPad. I wish I would have gotten the iPad Mini, I would use it for a e-reader instead of the NOOK or Kindle.

Lynda, wow, some of those kissing balls over at Amazon are pretty expensive! Do you light yours?

Lori, Yes, I found the guide, only because some nice Cathlete posted a link, I still don't know where it actually is. I am supposed to get me new DVD's tomorrow. I am really happy that the rotation is 5 days. Works perfectly for me! Did you notice if they put the times of the premixes on the actual DVD"s? They are not listed on here when you look up the workouts.

Judy, I can't imagine riding for 3 hours on a spin bike! Yikes!

Hi to Josie,

Work, then late dog class,

Take care,

I went to amazon and looked at a bunch of the free books, but that seems like a long process. too many books (that I don't want to read) to sort through. I see how this works.... will definitely try this before considering a kindle e reader. the main thing seems to be an ipad needs charging more often. this will show me if I like reading on a device.

we went to the Mockingjay movie and then the Melting Pot. both not worth it. the movie was boring. I don't remember the first two in the series very well, but this was no incentive to re-watch them. no more than 10 people in the theater on a busy sunday afternoon. cousin was afraid they'd be 'sold out" ... not even close. the melting pot was way overpriced (IMO) and the food just OK. the cheese fondue was quite good but not impressed with the rest. cousin bought dinner to use gift cards so I don't know what the total was, but a lot, and definitely not worth it. it was a bit of a drive to get there too, so not a repeater.

shoulder is more bothersome today so 3 steps forward, one back etc. I didn't do anything but I tend to sleep on that side

Judy 3 hours spinning sounds like an ordeal! I can't sit on a bike seat indoors for an hour. somehow, outdoor, with changing scenery is different for me.

Lori I will look into getting a magazine sent to the ipad to see... I haven't watched to see what mags come that way.

Lynda

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Bootcamp Boogie (63:00).

Gosh, it's cold here today, even with no wind.

Deb, no lights on our kissing balls, but DH outlines the roof on our patio where they are hanging, so they do show up nicely after dark. I buy them locally from a woman who charges 35 dollars for each. I pick the ribbon colors. They are very cheery. I have 3 of them on my hanging plant hangers. That's the problem with holiday parties--too many tempting tidbits. On Friday I ate a few and then moved away from the table. I never, never fill a plate. I briefly graze.

I returned my Classical Stretch for a refund. Amazon is very good about it. I figured with the new workouts from Cathe coming this week, I could easily give up one that froze.

Valerie, I'm not surprised you didn't like Mockingjay. It's pretty fan-based from the books, and, of course this one doesn't even have a proper ending.

Lori, your enthusiasm makes me excited about these new workouts, even though I did not get all of them. I will have to see what the rotations are.

Hi to Josie and Judy!

Good afternoon ladies!

Slept ok for a Sunday night. Was up early so started RWH rotation. First up was plyo hiit 1 and bonus abs 1. I did the plyo and loved it. It is very high impact. A lot of jumping. Went by quickly though. Reminds me of her Hiit Pyramid.

Lynda....yes sooooo cold today! Nasty storm coming our way tomorrow. Lot's of rain and wind and some snow. Going to be ugly here the next couple of days. I don't blame you for returning the DVD. Between Cathe Live, SB and cathe's new DVD's I am good for a while. The new Insanity Max 30 came out and I have no desire to purchase which is unsual for me.

Valerie...I have Shape Magazine and Oprah delivered to my kindle app and then thru Itunes I get Fitness magazine and Entertainment Weekly. Also thru Itunes I receive Web MD which is a free magazine. Drives me nuts that both fitness and Entertainment still send me the paper edition in the mail even though I signed up for the electronic. Such a waste.

Deb....ha I have those times! I will be going to a holiday on Saturday so we will see how I do. This time of year is so hard to limit your food intake. I have not noticed the times yet on the premixes I'll look in the morning. I hope so because that is how I always pick the premixes by the times! The plyo one I did this morning and the other may be too high impact for you. I have not tried or reviewed the low impact ones yet.

Judy...RIDE is about 50 minutes I think. That is about all I can do. I am usually begging for it to end. Can't imagine 3 hours!!! I think you will like the new DVD's.

Hi to Josie!

Have a great night all!

Hi Everyone,

Today I did a 2 hour Spinerval, and that is definitely my upper limit for now. RWH DVDs came today and I will be doing one tomorrow. I printed out the guide and am previewing and so far I really like what I see. I wish I could get DH to do one with me. I saw Al in one and I thought that might help me convince DH that it's ok for him to do a Cathe workout.

Deb-the premix times are in the DVD menus. There are some timesaver premixes that are around 20 minutes. Low Impact HiiT has premixes from 26-52 minutes.

Valerie-sorry about your shoulder, I hope it starts to feel better. I also like magazines on the iPad. We haven't gone to a movie in so long, I don't even know what's playing. I doubt that I would like the Mockingjay movie. I had to look it up to see what it was.

Lori-I'm trying to get rid of all paper magazine subscriptions. I really like getting magazines on the iPad. I recently got the iPhone 6 plus and it's almost big enough for reading magazines and papers too. I sure don't need anymore new workout DVDs either! There will be a couple of new Spinervals I will probably get, but that will be it for quite a while.

Lynda-That's too bad about your DVD, but Amazon is good about returns. I had to do a return last week too. I had ordered a pair of shoes, but unfortunately they didn't fit at all. I was able to send them back right away, no problem.

Hi to Josie!

Judy

Good morning & Happy Tuesday!

No workout this morning, very late class last night, but it was fun. I started making these square knot fleece dog tug toys, and now I am obsessed with making them in different colors. Kylee & Keegan gave one each to the 2 trainers last night for Christmas gifts. They liked them a lot. LOL. I am sure their dogs will too.

Valerie, I think once you are used to the e-book process, it will seem like a breeze. It's shorter than going to the library and looking for a book. Also, if/when you get a Kindle or other e-reader, you can download e-books from the library, free of course, and that is the best part of the e-reader. I love using the library. My friend felt the same way about The Melting Pot.

Lynda, I had never seen a Kissing ball until you mentioned them. I guess someone makes them from boughs of trees? Funny we have never seen them in tree lots etc. either. Maybe a New England thing. LOL

Lori, I got my new DVD's yesterday and you just confirmed my decision, I will be selling the Plyo Disc on Ebay. All the others look good. Never thought to get magazine subscriptions on the iPad etc. Sounds like a good idea though. I really stopped all the magazine subscriptions, too many of them going unread, and on the coffee table taking up space. I would like "More"...though. Do you just keep them in the cloud after, so you can get to them if you want to read again or look up an article?

Judy, thanks for the info on the premix times. That is great, I hate when you don't know how long they are. Not sure why she didn't put them up on the site where the DVD is sold. I think I will really like this series. I also thought that having a male in the workouts would encourage others to use Cathe, but I think they would much prefer Body Beast! More grunting and yelling...LOL.

Hi to Josie,

work then home to
smiley-sleep027.gif

Take care,

Did 20 on the elliptical, 10 on the bike and a core workout. I've been so lax lately.... just don't seem to have much enthusiasm to do anything. we should have done a bike ride yesterday as it was dry and mild but DH and I seemed to somehow work at cross purposes all day. when I was ready, he wasn't and vice versa. and now it's wet again. I am going yoga this morning... the new place. I am not that hopeful. it's a long drive and out of the way for the "maintenance" shopping I do afterward. I knew that going into this change, but neither choice is very good.
I did manage to get almost all the xmas cards and some of the gifts taken care of yesterday. I would drop the xmas card business in a second although I manage to whittle the list down each year.
I will look at getting magazines s to the ipad. some have become almost total ads cover to cover and it seems silly to waste all that paper.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Flex Train (56:36).

Nasty weather here today--sleet, freezing rain, plain old rain--and it apparently wants to stay this way for awhile.

I haven't received my dvds yet, but my guess is tomorrow with priority mail. Looking forward to them.

I have Vogue, the New Yorker, and EW on my ipad, but DH likes the paper copies of New Yorker and EW.

Sent out a pile of Christmas cards yesterday for distant friends and relatives. Today, I will send out some local ones. I love to choose cards from the Metropolitan Museum. This year it's all angels.

Has anyone used one of those robot vacuum cleaners? DH is thinking of buying one for me for Christmas. I swear I could vacuum every day with the amount of shedding by dog and DH.

Stay warm!

Good evening ladies!

Omg what a nightmare weather wise here. Between the heavy rains and ice it took forever to get to work this morning.

This morning I did Back Biceps and shoulders. Was just over 50 minutes and it flew by. Really liked it. Tomorrow will be Legs.

Deb...I knew immediatley the Plyo ones were history for you! They are very high impact. Right up my alley! The low impact ones look really great and I look forward to these too. I think she has a winner with this series. Funny about the dog pulls. You should show us a picture. Would love to see one. I used to get MORE but I discontued because I just never had the time to read it. Once I read them then I delete off my Ipad and it is stored in the cloud for future reference. Great to have when traveling.

Judy...so impressed with 2 hours of spinerval! Great job! I think you will like RWH. So far I am loving this series. I am really looking forward to legs tomorrow morning. I have been still hoping DH will workout with me. Some day this will happen.

Valerie...hope you made out well with the yoga class. 20 minutes out of the way is too far for me to go and exercise. That is why I never joined a gym. I would never stick with it if I have to drive to workout.

Lynda...was a mess here today! The rain was horrendous. Hoping tomorrow is a little better. Good for you sending out Christmas cards. I do not send them. I tried to get in the habbit but it did not stick. I do give cards to some coworkers and the usual mail carrier and trash but that is it.

Have a great night all! Hi to Josie!!!

Good morning & Happy Hump Day!

I got up and did HIIT Low Impact #1 today...wow...it's nice and short, only 28 minutes, but I had to go slower than Cathe/crew and do some modifications. This one will take practice. Also, I have the square rubber mats, with an area rug over them, and that is not good for this type of workout. I may have to take all that up and get back to the floor again. Not sure if I like that.

Valerie, it sounds like you are in a slump, probably due to the shoulder injury. It gets to you when you have to limit what you can do and have to keep thinking about whether you can/or should do a certain workout. Hopefully your yoga class was ok?

Lynda, which DVD's did you get? I already put the Plyo one up for sale on Ebay. Never used one of those vacuums, it would be a riot to see my dog's reaction to it though.

Lori, I am the same as you...would never drive to a gym....I actually have a life time membership to a gym, but have not been there in probably 25 years! That is where John and I met. He used to be really into working out, and actually did step classes with me. I can't imagine that now. We send cards to out of town friends and relatives, and only close friends here. Will post a pic of one of the toys...:)

See below, sorry the pic is so big! You have to scroll down to see the whole toy! I don't know how to make the pics smaller...:(

Hi to Judy & Josie, ( where are you?),

Take care,

I went to the class yesterday and am so-so. I felt overly cautious and clumsy after a month of doing little. my shoulder didn't much like the process either although this morning it seems to be OK. I think I will start upper body workouts again slowly but go very very light on weight, considering it ROM and flexibility rehab.
it's a longer drive. the room is very small. it was WARM. about 8 people. it was crowded to where we had to stagger ourselves so no one hit their neighbors in the face. definitely not as nice as the previous place. I think she can expand into other space as it's an older business complex without a lot of tenants.
I agree with all of you who would not drive to a gym ... I 've kept this going because yoga is better in a class. it's been a nice social gathering of mostly women, plus the drive became part of shopping trips that I was doing anyway. this new location doesn't fit very well.
Deb which doggie is that? so cute!

DH scheduled a colonoscopy for early thur am so today is the "no food, clear liquids only" day. it won't be a happy process! He gets so hungry ...also a migraine trigger for him. his procedure is 6: 45 am tomorrow so back to normal. this is his 3rd scoping. bad family hx so he will be on a 5 yr schedule.

Lynda my yoga instructor has a Roomba mainly because she has hardwood and two dogs. she loves it. t

we went to another flooring place yesterday. having a second person come out to do a measure/ estimate. we are pretty comfortable about what we want. we will pay a professional to do more than we expected. it is a more complicated situation than at first.

a wet windy day yesterday and today will be more of the same. the power was out for a time yesterday when we weren't home.

Hi Ladies,

I went to see my new peanut on Monday and DH went with me since he is retired now. The baby is getting so big already and is very alert and strong. My DH is already driving me crazy! So, I will be using my Gold's membership more often ;). We decided to hire a trainer so that we can workout together twice a week. I talked to my body pump instructor and she gave us a good deal, we will start in January.

I went to body pump yesterday and spinning today. I will be running tomorrow and taking a body pump class.

Valerie, I agree with Deb about you being in a slump. It happened to me after I took care of my DB. It took me a while to get back on track.

Deb, your baby is so cute! You should sell the toys on eBay, they look great.

Judy, you are amazing! I could never do a spinning video for that long, I need to be outside.

Garance, when I read that you were buying kissing balls I thought that you were talking about sweet bread. We have a Mexican bread called besos and that is what I thought you were talking about :).

Lori, you are a workout maniac :). Glad that you are liking the new DVD's.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did After Burn (54:00).

I did get my dvds today. I have 4: Ba, bis, and sh; Legs; Ch, tris and sh; and the Low impact Hiit. I think I will try the ch, tris, and sh with a core tomorrow.

Deb, great picture! I'm sure Max would enjoy one of those, so if you want to sell one, let me know. Wow, those low impact workouts are short. Maybe there is a premix that does both--like KCM's workouts. I might try adding on a stretch to them from Bowen too.

Lori, the weather is still messy here today. Up on the farm, light snow, but down in town, incessant drizzle. I watched a special last night on the making of Unbroken. I'm really excited to see this film, but I'm afraid I will be crying a lot in the theater.

Valerie, maybe if the space expands you will enjoy it more. If it's also social, it must be hard to give up. I hope your shoulder gets better soon. Are you certain you don't want a shot of cortisone? It worked wonders for me.

Josie, I didn't realize that kissing balls were so unusual. They are everywhere here. My dress turned out really nicely, but since there were no instructions for shortening the pattern, I ended up cutting off about 10 inches from the hem after it was all sewed together. This pattern is long enough for an NBA player. I guess it's tricky because the pattern pieces are all funny shapes except for the sleeves.

Judy, doesn't your tush get sore on the bike for that long?
