Good morning,

We just got back from eating breakfast out, this has been one of those weekends where we eat out too much. I just did not feel like making anything. Will definitely take something out of the freezer for dinner.

Not much going on, very cold here and I have a long list of HouseMax things to do..

Take care,

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did RK with 1 lb. gloves (55 min.).

We went out to dinner last night and I had a seafood pasta dish that was pretty skimpy on the seafood, but with a lot of angel hair pasta (which I did not eat much of). Won't be ordering that again.

DH is very upset with his calves. Two of them died yesterday, infected by one of the calves he bought at auction--pneumonia. The vet came and administered a lot of antibiotics, because several others were coughing and running a fever. He is really beating himself up about this, because he feels like he should have quarantined the new calf, which he did for awhile, but when it seemed to be improving, he put it in contact with the others. Max sat by each of the dying calves, like he was trying to get it to stand up. He was about as upset as DH, who tried to help the second one by holding its head up. I just hope the vet managed to save the others. Very sad. The weather does not help. Cold and rainy.

Hope everyone is having a better weekend than mine.

Hi Everyone,

Lynda-I'm so sorry about the calves. That is very sad. I hope things are better this week.

My workouts have been going pretty well. I've been alternating Spinervals with strength and core work. Today I did Muscle Max/Core Max and tomorrow I will try to do a 90 minute Spinerval. I am getting a little better at the levitation holds too. I can't stay up as long as Cathe, but I am getting completely off the ground for every rep.

Things were pretty rough the past two weeks with Tiger passing. Losing them so close together was something I was not prepared for and it will be awhile before I feel good again. Just kind of going through the motions now. I am glad Echo is here, she is a very good cat.

I hope everyone has a good week.

Judy

Good morning,

Garance, that is so sad, I hope that the other calves are ok.

Judy, little Echo come at the right time. I know you were not sure about getting her then, but it was meant to be.

Hi to Josie, Valerie, and Lori,

Work, then class tonight,

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

Back from NY. I'm glad to be home and I'm ready to get back on my workout and eating healthy. It was a fun trip, went to The Blue Note and listened to Michael Camilo, went to The Colony Club for lunch with my friend's mom and sister and I took my friend shopping for her birthday. The weather was in the 50's during the day so overall it was a great trip :)

Garance, sorry to hear about your husbands calves.

Judy, I'm glad that Echo came into your lives. I still miss my dog Astro and he has been gone 1.5 years:(

Hi to Deb, Valerie and Lori!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Lean Legs and Abs (48:33). Gosh, the floor work with the pink band is really tough to get through. It looks easy, but talk about a burn in the thighs and hips.

Well, most of the calves seem to be doing okay. DH is not happy with the ones he bought at auction, though. He wouldn't have gone to this auction, preferring to buy nine from a known seller, but we were away that sale day in Minnesota.

Josie, you had pretty nice weather for your weekend in NYC. Sounds like fun.

Judy, I imagine you are really happy now that you have Echo. Do you think you will get a second cat, or just stay with one for now?

Very cold weather tonight into tomorrow. Maybe our first snow. Not looking forward to that yet.

Good afternoon ladies,

I am home today so I was able to do T25 speed 02 followed by Xtrain bis and tris and finished up with ab portion of LL&A's. Then since the weather is cold but sunny took chester for a 3.5 mile walk that we both loved.

I have decided to do Xtrain 90 rotation but mix the cardio up a bit. I will keep all the Xtrain weight routines as scheduled and be true or sub the cardio called for. Meaning I might do Rockout instead of Hardstrikes and plan to sub Xtrain legs with either LL&A and GG. For the cardio that I change I am going to pull from my older cathe's at times to mix things up. I like doing rotations but find towards the end I am really bored with doing the same 10 workouts for 3 months.

Lynda...so sad about the calves. Glad to read the rest seem good. I agree with you on the band work of LL&A's. My legs are burning at the end. I good burn though. :). My neighbor told me on Saturday we will be getting a foot of snow by the end of the week. Really hoping things change. I am not ready for it.

Judy...when we lost our collie 4 years ago it took me a while to be able to think of him and not cry. You lost 2 beloved pets so close together. This will take time. Echo is a blessing and came at the right time.

Josie...I love NYC. I have a close friend that lives in the city and a group of us visit from time to time. Matter a fact the group is going this weekend. I unfortunately am un able to go due to a few things going on at work. :(

Hi to Valerie. Thinking of you and your family.

Have a great night!

Hi Everyone,

Today I did a long indoor ride, 40 miles in about 2.5 hours.

Deb-thanks, I agree that it was meant to be with Echo. Having her here has really helped the past couple of weeks.

Josie-Glad you had a good trip!

Lynda-Glad the calves are doing better. We are getting our first snow here tonight. I'm going to have to look at getting the Lean Legs and Abs workout, it sounds pretty good.
DH wants us to adopt another kitten. He really took Tiger's passing hard, actually harder than I thought he would since he had seemed more prepared than I was. His response is to try and fill the void. It will probably good for Echo to have a playmate.

Lori-your Xtrain 90 rotation sounds great! I agree on getting bored doing the same DVDs for 3 months. It's good to have some variety. I'm not doing an official rotation right now but am contemplating doing something combining Spinervals and STS, in December.
I know what you mean about crying. I don't think there has been one day since Oct. 3rd (the day Tiger got sick) that I haven't cried. It will take a long time..

Hi to Valerie,

Judy

Good morning,

Up at 3:15, and could not get back to sleep. So after an hour of tossing and turning, I got up. Ugh. Not a good day ahead. We skipped class last night because we were both exhausted and the weather was horrible. It was the kind of thing that once you got in the house, you didn't want to leave again, rainy, windy etc. First snow on the grass and cars last night.

Josie, sounds like you had a nice time in NYC. It is an amazing place to visit, but I don't think I could live there.

Garance, glad the calves are ok. I did a premix of LL & A and it did not have the band work, I guess I missed a tough part! Do you do a planned rotation with your workouts?

Judy, a new kitten for Echo to play with will be good for her and for you and DH. Although I have never had cats, I have been told that 2 kittens together can be so much fun to have/watch etc.

Lori, great plan for your next rotation!

Not much going on here, work then home to crash,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did PRS1 (53:42). I do pretty well until she puts all of the combos together without a break. I just cannot remember the sequence and I miss a couple steps of each of the combos. I wish she did the knee ups between like she does in PRS2.

Deb, I am sort of doing a rotation. I do cardio on Sunday (RK), Tuesday (one of the step workouts), Thursday (a low impact cardio), a leg workout on Monday--either Great Glutes or Legs and Abs, upper body on Wednesday from XTrain (tomorrow is bis and Tris), and a total body on Friday--I've been doing Flex-train every Friday, but maybe I will pull out Supercuts or AT for more variability. We had a dusting of snow last night--nothing to deal with, but it's very cold. It should warm up by Friday.

Lori, that sounds like a very flexible plan. I think I'm sort of doing something like that now, mingling the new workouts with LIS and XTrain.

Judy, I'm sure another kitten would be sooo happy to join Echo.

Hi to Josie and Valerie!

I want to check in to say judy, I regret not getting a second kitty when we got our last little guy. after so long I'm not sure it would be easy to introduce another but I still might try. I still tear up when I remember all the great little guys( a dog and several kitties) I've enjoyed having over the years. but it's part of the deal.... the time with each has a beginning and end. seems so unfair.

Lynda, so unfortunate with the calves. glad things have settled down. our neighbors used to have a couple cows that would come over to the fence so I could scratch their ears. they'd see me... and come right over. I got kind of attached to them, but I guess they ended up in the freezer. a total softie that way.

things are still kind of unsettled here with my sister. I've spent a lot of on line time on the phone etc.
dh and I have been street riding, mt biking, snowshoeing, and hiking literally 5 of 7 days. we're going to a state park today to check out the mt biking so I'll be off again for a couple days.
then I'll be home again for a while and will catch up with everyone.

Good evening!

Today ended up being a rest day. I must have turned my alarm off becuase I did not wake up until 6:30pm. Then worked late. Oh well my son came to visit so all is good.

Yes I agree I think this rotation will work well for me. I am finding I like a rotation. Keeps me focused.

No news from my brother. This waiting crap stinks!!

Valerie...My thoughts and prayers are with you. This must be so difficult for you with the distance. Good that you and your husband still do your thing and go on those wonderful trips. Frees your mind for a bit. You made me laugh with the freezer comment. Just sounded funny.

Lynda...I will not even attempt PRS1. Good for you!!! We had a little more than a dusting. Had to scrape the car off this morning. Ugh. As I got closer to work there was nothing.

Deb...I tossed and turned last night. Since I was off on Monday it was like my Sunday night. Did you like LL&A? The more I do this one the more I like it.

Hi to Judy and Josie!!

Just a quick note to say that we adopted another kitten from the Dearborn Animal Shelter. DH went back to the Dearborn shelter to look at kittens and we went back together after work. We decided not to wait any longer. DH found a little boy named "Chino". I think he reminded DH of Tiger, although Chino has more white than Tiger did.

Echo was so happy when we brought him in! She loves him!

Judy

Good morning!

Another awful night, woke up at 3:15, John took the dogs downstairs but It took me over an hour to fall back to sleep, then he came up at 5:15 to get ready to go for blood work at 5:45. Unbelievable.

Garance, I like your rotation set up. I am so terrible with working out right now...have no energy or desire to do so. Calves still doing ok?

Valerie, it sounds like things may be settling down with your sister? is she in the hospital or back home?

Lori, I hope you hear something about your brother soon. He must be on pins and needles and so stressed. Why do these things take so long anyway? What's up with us and the "Sunday Night" syndrome? LOL...I remember being like this on Sunday night when I had to go to school the next day. I only did a premix from LLA, so didn't really get the full feel of it. I find that anything over 30-40 minutes has a huge dread factor for me. Have a nice visit with your DH!

Judy, Chino is adorable!! I was going to ask if you were thinking of a male or female, so cute! Do the neuter etc at the shelter before they adopt out? Do you get them de-clawed? I am only asking as a person who knows nothing about kittens or having cats. :)

Hi Josie!

Work, then agility class, ( if I can stay awake!)

Take care,

Good Morning Everyone,

Deb-I'm sorry about your sleeping :( I know how that goes. I hope it gets better soon.

Thanks! Chino is so tiny! The shelter spays/neuters before they adopt out. As far as declawing, we won't have the kittens declawed. DH had Misty declawed (front) when she was a kitten, and Tiger had already been front declawed when we took him in. I think it was more common 10 + years ago to declaw kittens. In fact, DH said the shelter where he got Misty spayed and declawed her at the same time. It was really nice not to have to worry about getting scratched before, but I'm going to work on keeping their nails trimmed and we are getting scratching posts for the condo.

Yesterday I did 45 minutes of core work and this morning I plan on doing Muscle Max and a short spin. It's freezing here, only 20 degrees this morning.

I hope everyone has a good day, I'll check back later,

Judy

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did XTrain bis and tris (45:34).

Love your pictures of the kitties, Judy! A nice contrast in color and sex. I don't know how you manage to do 45 minutes of core work. More than 10 and I just don't want to do it. I think Cathe throws in a lot of things that aren't totally core, but do depend on core--especially in RK. Very cold here, too--29.

Vet was here this morning again to give some kind of fast working antibiotic to the calves DH bought at auction. He was worried last night about one little heifer he really likes that had a high fever, but she seemed a lot better this morning. No more deaths.

Tonight a pot luck at Rural Lands for the local Ag Commission. I am bringing baba ghanouj and hummus and DH is bringing his famous sausages.

Hope you gals get some decent zzzzz tonight. Retirement has definitely improved my sleep. I would toss and turn whenever I was worried about a class going well the next day.

Good evening ladies...

Tonight was cardio leg blast. Was going to sub out but I really like this one so I stuck with it. :)

Deb...I feel for you. Lack of sleep really affects me. Can't blame you for having no energy. Monday nights I have a really hard time driving home. And now in the dark I dread it.

Lynda..so glad to hear they seem to be on the mend. How many did you lose all together? 2,3? So sad. How are you and DH holding up now that the holidays are so near. I am sure this will be so difficult for your family. I am loving Xtrain weight workouts. Forgot how much I enjoy them. They seem to be the perfect length.

After xtrain going to attempt STS again. I really want a tower similar to what Cathe has and to also use it for pullups. Don't want to spend the money though. Decided to check out craigs list and so excited to find an awesome squat rack with a really nice bench for $70 bucks. Yeah great price!....and pure chance the young man selling it is originally from my town and knows my son. So he is actually going to deliver to our home on thanksgiving day before he visits his family. Now is this not meant to be or what!

Judy...your kitties are adorable. Our newest stray I had declawed but will never do this again. I felt so bad. I was so afraid the cat would hurt my chihuahua.

Hi to Valerie and Josie!

Good morning,

It's so windy here, I could hear it all night. No rain or snow thank goodness! It would be blizzard for sure.

Judy, 45 minutes of core work? yikes! that is great! like Lynda said, 10 minutes is about all I can do.

Garance, how was the pot luck? did all of the sausages go?

Lori, great score on the squat rack! You will like it, and it's probably better than the Tower. I have a weight bench that you can use as a squat rack and it made doing some of STS much easier. I thought I used the Tower, but remembered later that I used my bench at that time. The Tower is ok for pull ups, like Cathe does from the floor, ( I could never do those) but I purchased a bar that goes in the doorway, with assisted pull up straps. They help a lot, but it was not my favorite exercise.

Hi to Valerie, & Josie,

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did All Out Low Impact Hiit with core 1 (49:22).

The calves all seems to be doing better now, and we will be getting some warmer weather too for the next few days.

Lori, it does sound like it was meant to be. Now that I have sold my STS I wonder if I will ever use my tower again. I think a squat rack is probably a better purchase since you can get under a heavy barbell for leg work and you don't have to swing a barbell over your head, which is what really seemed to hurt my shoulder.

All the sausages were gone by the end of our party. They are soooo yummy!

Tomorrow is my birthday, so we are going out with friends. Should be fun.

Good evening ladies,

Tonight was hardstrikes. Had an early morning at work so no time for an early morning workout.

I am very excited about the rack. Really was not looking for a bench but for the price I will take it and I am sure I will get a lot of use out of it. Lynda, I agree this is a better purchase for me and agree about not hurting my shoulder. Can't lift up older my shoulder with the weights I need for STS.

Deb...I not a fan of pull ups at all either. I have been using bands and I like them this way. When I get the rack looks like I will be able to do pullups with it like Cathe does with the her tower. I will be modifying though!!!

Lynda, glad the calves are doing better. Sounds like the sausage balls were a hit!! In case I do not sign on tomorrow....Happy Early Birthday!!!
