Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 10/27

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Flex Train (56 min.).

Deb, we never get any trick-or-treaters because we have a very long driveway and there's no chance of going house to house with any ease out in the country. When our guys were small, we took them down to town and brought candy along to renew the supplies of people who were getting socked with multiple visits. I am putting X10 up for sale on Amazon. It's just too much impact for me, and I don't really understand the weights she throws in. Also, the pace on these workouts is frenetic--trying to pack in as much as she can in 10 minutes, I guess. I'm too old for frenetic. That would have frightened me to see a gang of men in black at my door. Do you think they were looking for a home invasion?

I'm going to try to see Enough Said, a movie, this weekend. I have some major cleaning to do, since last week I was busy with the Women's Studies celebration on my usual housecleaning day.

Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy that extra hour of sleep!

Hi all....

Wow was I sick. Finally feeling better today. I struggled through CF the other night and that was pretty much it for the week.

I just quickly read thru all the posts. I'll read in more detail when I am home this evening and comment. DH is working so I will have plenty of ME time!!

Have a great afternoon!

Hi Everyone,

Tiger is having good and not so good days. He stopped eating again today so we will be syringe feeding him renal food again. We are still doing daily subcutaneous fluids. Yesterday he had been improving, walking around more, even meowing a little. His weight was up to 7.6, then this morning it was back down to 7.0.

This morning I did a Cathe double. I did Muscle Max and Xtrain Ride, for a 2 hour workout.

Deb-that is kind of scary to have a bunch of grown men dressed in black trying to "trick or treat", I wonder what they were up to. They don't allow trick or treating in our condos, so we didn't have to get any candy to give out.

Lori-sorry you've been sick :( Hope you are feeling much better. Lots of things going around.

Garance- the vet really doesn't seem to have any more to offer for Tiger. They showed us how to do subq. fluids and said to try to get him to eat. I call them regularly with questions and have to stop by there once a week to pick up the subq supplies.

Hi to Josie & Valerie,

Have a good weekend,

Judy

Good morning all,

We went out for breakfast, did a little food shopping on the way home.

Garance, now you are making me dread trying X-10. I knew I wouldn't like the step one, but thought the others may work out. I will see what happens. I am pretty sure I am going to sell the 2 step workouts, the Step compilation too since that is all step, and maybe even the kickbox one on Ebay. That would leave me with Flex-train and maybe the X-10. I cannot say too much about how I love that Doc Martin series...started season 4 I think. I will shut up about it now! LOL. I have not heard of that movie, is it a comedy? drama?

Lori, hope you are feeling better today, maybe a couple days of rest is what you need.

Judy, I hope Tiger feels better after some food.

Hi to Valerie, & Josie,

Agility class, then pedi/mani and plenty of HouseMax. Don't forget we get an extra hour of sleep tonight! :)

Lori so sorry you were sick. my neighbor just got thru a bout with some kind of GI /flu illness and wow, she was sick. she had gotten her flu shot but you never know where this stuff comes from out of the blue. she has young grandchildren so probably they're the source.

family health problems going on. my sister is a mess and was placed on a new med for seizure control that did NOT work out well. a cousin is stepping up to help her try to get SS disability process going again. she was turned down the first time but has deteriorated in a major way. I did not go in her house when I was there in april, but it is apparently a filthy dirty mess and she does not/ is unable do anything. she has no money and has been living money our mother gave her to cover property taxes. plus, she has major health problems and possibly will need expensive medical testing soon. no insurance. mother is having a mixed bag of old age related problems too. I can't do much from 2000 miles away. anyway, I'm pretty distracted by all this. I can't fix things but I can't ignore it either.

We just finished the second season of "Homeland". watchable but many times extremely stupid and not believable. Watched "Mud" a well rated movie last night. okay but not a repeater. Lynda, that was the last movie james gandolfini was in, right?
DH put "Boardwalk" up for our next series. I was so-so on this one the first seasons but will give it a shot.

dinner out tonight to celebrate DH's upcoming birthday, and his cousin's retirement.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

Major housemax for me this morning. I should also get out to do some garden cleanup, but I think I will hire someone instead.

Deb, don't take my word for it on X10. If you look at the reviews on Collagevideo, they are very positive. For me, it's too much impact and I would rather do Cathe's LIS or the low impact hiit on XTrain. The one brief low impact workout is just a bunch of moves from these earlier workouts, and it's rush, rush, rush. I'm too old for frenetic. This is the only dvd I really disliked. Are you sure you won't like the Great Glutes or the Legs and Abs dvds? I really love Doc Martin too. I have a feeling I will re-watch this series. Enough Said is the last film with James Gandolfini before he died. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is in it as well.

Hope you are feeling better Lori. Yay, Red Sox!

Valerie, I didn't like the second year of Homeland either. I thought it was preposterous, and I ended up not liking any of the characters. It must be hard to be so far away from your sister and mother when they clearly need some major caretaking. I had to move my mother east when it became clear that I was really the only one who could watch over her.

Judy, I hope you can stabilize Tiger at some level of reasonable care for him. DH is currently trying to save a calf he bought last weekend at a livestock auction. He thinks he got snookered when someone loaded the wrong calf so he's pretty unhappy. He's also isolating him from the other calves he bought, which is a major chore.

Happy Daylight Savings for those of you who need, want that extra hour of zzzzzz!
