Good morning all,

I did the All Weights premix from KCM's Trim Down. Tough one, but a good workout in only 27 minutes!

Great show last night. Hugh Laurie and the Copper Bottom Band. If anyone has ever seen the TV show "House" you know who he is. When Dr House is playing piano on the show, it is just the tip of the ice burg when it comes to his talent. He has a great sense of humor and entertains the audience both during and between songs. They played for 2 and a half hours and it flew by.

We have the Halloween-BBQ-Dog costume parade at the training hall this afternoon. Should be fun. I don't know if we are dressing the dogs, or even bringing them for that matter. We'll see.

Nice autumn day here, a little on the cool side but no rain. :)

Take care,

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did Rockout knockout (56 min.?)

A long day yesterday listening to alums talk about their experiences post-grad and how useful WGSS as a major was (That's Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies). I talked a bit about the beginnings and evolution of the program.

Deb, I've seen Hugh Laurie on PBS in concert. He's really a wonderful musician and I bet it was great to hear/see him in person.

Pot Luck tonight for the Ag Commission, so we're bringing some of DH's sausages, which go like hotcakes. It's chilly here today. Guess I better start hauling out my sweaters.

Hi Ladies,

Heading home from Vegas. Had a great time and made some money :)
Back to eating healthy and workouts.

Judy, thank you so much for your donation. I'm glad Tiger is doing better.

Have a great Sunday!

Josie

Good afternoon ladies!

Back from the Cape. Had fun. Was really really windy yesterday and cold. Went right through you. Went to a couple nice restaurants and did alot of swimming in the indoor pool. This morning I did T25 cardio plus x10 cardio blast. With all that I ate I should have done these 3 times today!!! Ha!!! Like you Josie...need to get back into things.

Sounds like you had some fun in vegas Josie.

I like Hugh Laurie and yes he is very talented. I have never seen him play but have heard. I used to watch House from time to time never consistent though.

Deb...so cute if the dogs are dressed!!! I can only imagine!!!!

Hi to Judy and Valerie!

Good morning all,

Today I did a new I-Train, 30 minutes. This was a free one that someone on the Open board posted a link about. I was having a tough time with it, could not go at my usual speeds, I may have to see if my treadmill needs adjusting or something.

The BBQ/Halloween dog parade was a lot of fun, I took some pics with my phone but not sure how good they are. The dogs would not stand still at all so most are a big blur. LOL.

Lori, welcome back! Who stays with Chester when you are gone?

Garance, I am so glad you told me about Doc Martin. I am into season 2 now, and really enjoying it!

Josie, you are a lucky lady!

Hi to Judy and Valerie,

Work, then obedience class tonight.

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Lean Legs and Abs (48 min.). Another no-dread workout. Just enjoyable for me and I feel like my outer thighs were burning on the band work.

Deb, Doc Martin is addictive. I have a feeling that even when I finish all the seasons, I will go back and re-watch like I did with All Creatures. The characters are indelible, and despite Doc Martin being a real pet-hater, I can't dislike him. That big shaggy dog seems to have claimed him anyway.

I was so good at the potluck last night. Did not eat a single dessert, and there were a lot of pies and other goodies. Just one sausage and some salad and a glass of wine.

Lori, I've always heard that going to the shore in the autumn is the best time for warm water and no crowds. But it sounds too cold in the air!

Hi to Josie, Valerie, and Judy!

Good afternoon ladies!

Slept in this morning and it felt great after such a busy weekend. Tonight Cross Fire is on the rotation. I love this workout so looking forward to it.

Deb..sounds like the party was fun. Funny with the dogs moving around. Mine would be nuts!

Nicholas came home for the weekend to watch dogs which was nice. I love the Cape in October...no crowds at all. So pleasant. We went down because we had an owners meeting to attend for our time share. We try and be involved. The time share place offers really reduced rates for the weekend if you go to the meeting. Also while there we won a raffle for a free weekend! Hope to go late Spring.

Garance....not sure if I could have been that good at the pot luck! Great job! The more I do lean legs the more I like it.

Hi to Judy hope Tiger is still improving.

Ho to Josie and Valerie!

Good morning.

A very late class last night, I am really tired today.

Garance, I love the All Creatures shows too, and watched them over and over when they were on PBS. I do think that the older original years/cast were the best, didn't like it when he went to war and then came back. Good will power you had over those desserts!

Lori, have not heard of too many people that have time shares lately. How long have you had it? Like Garance, I sold Crossfire and To the Max, way too much impact for me too.

Hi Josie, Valerie, and Judy,

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did Spinervals 16.0, an aerobic base builder. It's 80 minutes long. I was so happy that I could do that, since I haven't ridden much the past month. I also did 15 minutes of core work.

Tiger has been stable, not really any improvements. He is still eating, but not as much as I would like. He is just skin and bones :( He seems comfortable and enjoys resting on the sofa most of the day. My poor little boy :(

Deb & Linda-I looked up Doc Martin on Amazon and it looks like one I will really like! I haven't watched All Creatures, but I loved the books.

Lori-Lean legs sounds like a great workout. Is it anything like the "Legs & Glutes" from KPC? I have that one but haven't tried it yet.

Josie-you're welcome! Glad you had a good time in Vegas.

Hi to Valerie!

Judy

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I (sort of) did the first step workout (53 min.). I get most of the combos as Cathe is going through them, and they are really fun, but when she puts all of them together at the end, without any little breaks between of alternating knees, I get really lost because they come at you so fast. So I end up in the final two run-throughs maybe doing half of them once I figure out which combo she is doing. Combo 5 is the toughest, but once I managed to do it right, it was neat to do--lots of mambos, turns and triple steps. It is easier than step 2 in terms of impact and exertion.

Judy, does the vet have any more advice for you on Tiger? Lean legs and abs uses only 8 lb. weights, the pink firewalker band, and a chair for a little bit of barre. I would definitely say it's intermediate. I don't know if that helps. The abs workout on this one, though, is pretty intense.

Yay, Red Sox! Back to Fenway.

Deb, I find myself laughing out loud a lot with Doc Martin. His funeral eulogy for 'someone' (no spoiler) was to berate people who were obese attending the funeral.

Hi to Josie and Valerie!

Hi Ladies,

I went spinning this morning. Im really enjoying spending time with my DD. She has a part time job right now and is still looking for a full time. I got back from spinning and made breakfast for both of us and just enjoyed our coffee together while watching the news.

Garance, thank you so much for your support again :) You mentioned that you love to wear turtleneck dresses and sweaters on another post. I love turtleneck anything!

Judy, glad Tiger is eating better. He will come around.

Hi to Deb, Lori and Valerie!

Josie

Good afternoon ladies!

Slept in again this morning. Lately I have not been sleeping well and just can not get up to run. Started with a slight cold yesterday so never did Cross Fire either so complete rest day. Aiming for CF tonight, we'll see how I feel.

Josie...I know what you mean about spending time with your DD I completely enjoy my time with my DS. Love every minute of it. I am the complete opposite with turtlenecks. Can't stand them around my neck. I get itchy with anything around my neck. I can barely tolerate a scarf when it is freezing out.

Lynda...good for you for trying PRS1. This one scares me and I won't even touch it. I do like PRS2 though.

Deb...we have had the timeshare for about 5 years now. A friend of ours could not afford the yearly maintenance fee and deeded it over to use. We tried to give him $$ but he was thrilled with us just taking it off his hands. We love it and always have a great time when we go. Nice little get away.

Judy...I think it is a good sign that Tiger is still eating. I agree he will come around. Good job on the spinervals and doing 80 minutes! Wow!!

Hi to Valerie!

time for me to check back in. been home a couple days, but so much to catch up on. great trip to Yellowstone. saw so much stuff, loads of animals, weather was great. the drive was difficult. we started out witnessing a terrible crash that happened right in front of us. on the interstate. still dark and the car in front of us hit the right side rail, went semi airborne, then crashed down spewing car parts everywhere. we were able to avoid the debris. we pulled over, DH went back to check while I called 911. no one was hurt. amazing the car didn't flip but we think it "attached" itself to the guardrail. some punk kids who weren't paying attention, or maybe someone fell asleep. will never know. so a rough start. it's about an 11 hr drive.
we hiked every day and another time since we've been home. yesterday was a very tough hike, but the crummy weather will be here soon and then I'll be back to indoor workouts.
I'm in the "hate turtlenecks" group. just can't stand stuff around my neck unless it's really really cold.
I haven't read last week's thread yet so I can't comment on anything else.

Good morning,

Dogs woke us up at 4:00, after being out at 3:00 ( I slept through that trip!), so I am really tired right now, and have a late class tonight. This day will be a long one!

Valerie, welcome back! It sounds like you had a great hike. :). Horrible about that accident, at least no one was hurt.

Judy, glad Tiger is stable and it seems like he is on the mend. Are you still giving him liquids with IV's? If you liked the All Creatures books, you would like the series. If you watch, start at the beginning if you can. Doc Martin is great as well. He is not a vet, but a GP in a small village.

Garance, cudos to you for having the patience to do those step workouts! Will be starting season 3 of DM, only 1 more of season 2 to watch.

Josie, nice visit with your DD!

Lori, I am having a hard time getting up in the am too, maybe with the colder weather, it is harder to leave a nice warm bed!

Work, then class. We are supposed to dress the dogs up and class will be based on "tricks or treats"...how they will work that into agility, I have no idea !

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did ch, ba, sh from XTrain (51 min.).

Valerie, I bet Yellowstone is beautiful this time of year.

Deb, I guess if the dogs don't do their tricks they won't get any treats?

Lori, maybe with daylight savings this weekend you will be able to get up more easily. Go Red Sox tonight! I really don't want a game 7 if possible.

You are very welcome, Josie! Enjoy your daughter! I have J. Crew's tissue turtlenecks in almost every color. They are so soft and light and I wear them under my wool sweaters because I can't tolerate the scratchiness of wool.

Hi to Judy!

Just back from another hike. we've hiked more in the last 2 weeks than we have in a long time. today's was only 3 hrs 15 min up and back at rapid fire pace. definitely uphill all the way but not too steep, and trail is stepped nicely so footing is good. Monday's was so steep it was hard to go more than 100 yds without stopping. like workouts... all types can be different, variety is nice. but now we haven't been cycling in a while, so that will feel harder again.

Lynda, wool is a problem for me too. wool blend socks are OK, but no wool against the rest of me. all my outdoor gear is synthetic even though there's been a big marketing push to washable "itchless" wool the last few years. it won't enter my closet. I can't stand the feeling even on my hands. DH is the same so we will stick with various poly/nylon. cotton is a big no-no for outdoor sports especially in this climate where it can be so wet.

7 am yoga class is not available this week because instructor is on a field trip, so I may try a class at a different time instead.

the fall colors were absolutely lovely on the drive over and in Yellowstone. Do you have larch trees back east? they're conifers that turn yellow and lose their needles in fall. gorgeous! something about the light angle in fall makes the light soft and so lovely. we saw deer( thousands) elk, bison, a grizzly bear close up, bighorns, pronghorns, elk, fish...very visible in streams. a bird called a snipe I've never seen before. swans. one wolf. I spotted a very proud coyote trotting toward us with something in his mouth that looked like a log. I was looking with binoculars trying to figure it out and did not have a camera handy. too bad, because I'm 99% sure it was a neat and tidy section (still wooly) of a bison leg about 2 feet long. so much fun a and loads of tracks and scat even if you don't always see the animal that passed by. perhaps because of the shutdown messing with peoples' schedules, it was less crowded than we've seen in fall before.

the switch from DST always messes with me for a few days. hope you adjust, Deb & Lori, and get some sleep.

I need to check out Doc Martin. I loved the All Creatures books but didn't like the series that much. I had a mental image of what I thought the characters looked like from reading the books and the series actors didn't look "right" to me.

Judy, maybe you kitty is grieving a little yet for his old companion? the kitten is adorable!. they all are, I know, but I am a total cat person.

What bothers me is that DH and I have been "first on the scene" of too many accidents. we were amazed this guy didn't flip onto his roof as we watched it unfold in our headlights. it went quickly, but somehow seemed like slow motion in memory. I am starting to think the 911 operators will start calling me by my first name.

Good morning all,

Late class but fun. Garance, just like you said, we had to pick an agility move from a basket, and if we did it correctly, we ( the people) got a treat, and the dog got a treat.

Valerie, another good hike. I think you would like the All Creatures shows, but the English accents are tough to get used to, more so than Doc Martin. I bet your DH would like the Doc Martin series.

Here is a pic of Kylee right before we left for class:

It's pouring rain here right now...this may mean no Halloween kids tonight.

Take care.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did a premix combining low impact with step from Xten (38 min.). Hmm. Not sure I should keep this dvd. Most of the low impact moves are oldies from LIS and the step has too much impact for me. The other routines also look full of impact. Ugh!

Deb, I love the picture of Kylee. She looks like she's saying, "Why are you taking a picture of me when I look so silly?" No rain here yet, and it's suddenly much, much warmer.

Valerie, New England is known for its sugar maples. Sometimes the mountains look like they are on fire. Also love the golds and the late oak colors.

Hope you didn't get snagged by a cold, Lori!

Hi to Josie and Judy!

Hi Ladies,

Went spinning this morning. Yesterday I did the ab intervals from T25 and the lower body premix from muscle max.

Deb, Kylee looks adorable!

Garance, I admire you for doing the step DVD's. with my history of falls I'm afraid to even try ;)

Valerie, sounds like you had a great trip.

Lori, it has been hard for me to wake up early too. We will see what happens when the time changes.

Judy, hope Tiger is doing well.

Josie

Good morning & Happy Friday!

Strange Halloween. We had about 20 kids last night, I was surprised with the rain and wind that any came out. Turned the lights off and didn't answer the door to a gang of 6 ft guys, all in black, (not costumes) that came around the side of the house, right under the windows....
bs.gif
yeah, they were "trick-or-treating"...

Garance, I have not tried anything on that DVD yet. I was having high hopes that because of the short workouts, it would be my favorite from this set.

Josie, thanks for reminding me about the time change this weekend Woo Hoo!! An extra hour of sleep. :)

Hi to Valerie, Judy, and Lori,

Except for the crazy weather, it should be a nice relaxing weekend for us, no commitments, only normal HouseMax etc.
