Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 10/23/2022

Well I didn’t get cardio in this morning. I decided that I just didn’t have enough time. I plan to get back on schedule tomorrow. My appointment took longer than I expected and I stopped in Sprouts for some vegetables afterwards since it was close by. My chest muscles are still sore from the Gym Style that I did Tuesday!

Valerie, I’m glad the shot is done. I was just reading about that type injection last week. Great job with the hike.

Diane Sue, great job with Raw Strength and Balance, CDORNER Fun Crazy Cardio Core and stretch/mobility. I like the foot stretches that Jessica Smith has in some of her stretches/yoga. I don’t have arthritis but my foot does get tight and cramps sometimes. Working on inflammation is always good.

Hello to Judy and Lori.

Yesterday I did 55 minutes of Peloton rides, 10 minutes of Peloton arms and 30 minutes of restorative yoga. Today I did RWH Legs, Strength Only premix and Bonus Abs 1.

Carolyn-Great job with Gym Style Chest and Triceps. I hope your appointments went well.

Diane Sue-Great job with Raw Strength and Balance and the CDorner workouts. The Raw balance one looks good to me. I think I have some arthritis in my hands. It's not too bad yet but I probably should go to an orthopedic doctor to get it checked out.

Valerie-Great job with the hike. I hope the injection works well for you.

Cathy-Great job with Lower Body Barre Blend and Live Stacked Sets Upper Body. I really like the chair stretch from Step Boss.

Hi to Lori

No workout today as I shopped. Derek found out he'll have to drop his Spanish minor to graduate early, but he's already gotten several certificates and he said the higher level classes are mainly literature based which wouldn't interest him much anyway. Some classes are only taught one semester a year, and apparently there were conflicts. More important financially that he won't need that last semester.

Diane Sue great job with Strength and Balance and Fun Crazy Cardio Core.

Valerie I'm glad you got in a good 2 hour hike. I hope that the injection is beneficial to your knee. Michigan has gone to mostly online license renewal, too. I had visions of jumping through hoops with them when I went to the zoo the other day as I dropped my license after I used it to get in, and didn't realize it till I was pretty much as far away as possible from the entrance. Called the office, and before I'd even gotten back to the main zoo, I got a call they had it at the entrance. I got my license tabs really fast last week, but they aren't as speedy with new licenses and I'd kind of like it with me when I drive to Fort Worth next month!

Judy nice job with the Peloton workouts and RWH Legs Premix.

Carolyn I hope your appointments went smoothly.

cathy you are lucky someone picked it up and kept it for you. I have heard ( not documented in any way) that you can have a pic on your phone of license and registration and that will suffice for most traffic issues.... if you forgot or misplaced your license. there have been so many vehicle break ins here, people dont want to leave registration in the car. I have heard it will work in a pinch for DL too. if we left car at a trailhead overnight, I'd do that. I'd remove the garage door opener too. our newer subaru programs it right into the buttons on the mirror. our older cars have separate openers. still best to have the hard copy if possible.

I'm optimistic about the injection series . he described it as three thin layers to "fill and cover the potholes". whatever I did to my shoulder is healing after being bothersome for weeks. no idea what I did but I sure tweaked something. I'm going to wait another week before doing any specific exercises, but using it normally for all regular activities now.

When I got up I did Fast and Fierce Upper Body and after breakfast I did Fast and Fierce Lower Body. Apt titles! During the upper body you are a few reps into bench press and she's like "and we're doing 32." WHAT These were done during the filming of STS 2.0 and while it wasn't overly noticeable on the upper body, on the lower body she mentioned it and either went lighter than the class or even went no weight. Jenn was doing the same, but Kristen was back there powering through with the right weight. LOL I know though that Cathe went really heavy during filming.

Valerie I was really happy someone found it. What I was concerned about was it slipping through the crack of the board walk or into a pile of leaves, there to lay forever! I keep registrations in a very handy place because the boys drive my car and if stopped I want them to have fast access. Of course the only time Nick got stopped was in Marquette at midnight and he only had my car temporarily because I'd brought his back because of issues it was having, so he'd forgotten where it was. He called me while the cop was back at his car. He'd left his bright lights on and just got a warning. Why was he out at midnight? It was a holiday and he'd wanted to treat himself to ice cream and he'd been too busy all day.

trailhead car bashing is awful here. even during the day at popular trailheads. people have left doors unlocked and windows open in hopes of preventing their windows getting broken by druggies looking for 'good stuff" inside. what constitutes "good stuff" might be an old sweatshirt left on the seat, or your home address from your registration. we usually leave our cars fairly empty. property crime is such a dismal thing to deal with. there is no place to hide anything thieves don't know about. (please don't say the trunk!) we used to tape the registration to the bottom of one of the floor mats but its a thrash if you need to get it out for a traffic issue. we dont switch drivers much so a photo record for a car I dont usually drive should do.
the switch for the brights is one of those things easy to miss if its not a car you usually drive. subarus turn lights on and off with ignition switch so you don't need to remember to turn lights on or off. if you use the right setting, that is.

did therapy only yesterday.

This morning I did Rev’d Up Rumble for 39 minutes and 237 calories burned. My average heart rate was 135 and maximum heart rate was 180 (not sure that’s correct). The plumber was coming between 8:00-12:00 this morning and I wanted to be sure to get my workout and shower finished before then.

Judy, great job with the 55 minute Peloton ride, Peleton arms, and restorative yoga. RWH Legs is a good lower body workout.

Cathy, great job with Fast and Furious Upper Body and Fast and Furious Lower Body. That sounds like quite a workout! You were very fortunate that someone found your drivers license and returned it to you.

Valerie, breaking into cars while people are walking has happened quite a bit here. I don’t leave anything in my car. Someone broke into my car while I was still working and stole my large tote. It was full of papers, but must have looked like a computer case to the thief. I had parked in back of the building and ran inside for a short period of time. Ordinarily it wouldn’t have been in the car. There was a lot of damage to my car for nothing.

Hello to Diane Sue and Lori. Have a wonderful day everyone.

we had our camper broken into while parked in our yard..... while we were home. money, clothes, papers stolen. very unpleasant. my current car was broken into at a trail head. I didnt realize it then. later in the week I stopped to fill up. when I started pumping, gas poured onto the ground. a very very fast jump to shut off the pump! I had attendant help me push it off the puddle, and crawled under to see what was wrong. the fuel line was cut. realized then what happened at the trailhead. the gas didnt leak, and siphoning wasnt successful so everything looked normal until I tried to fill it. expensive , but insurance covered it. never used that trailhead again. sometimes you arrive at a place and there is broken windshield glass everywhere. thieves break into every car there and personal property is scattered everywhere. its sad. didnt used to be like this. one timne we got to a trailhead WAY off in the back country and someone had stolen the tires and wheels off a beautiful new truck and left it sitting on some wood blocks and stumps. carolyn, like you said, usually the papers aren't of use to anyone else but they're gone. window glass is an expensive repair and most people have a high deductible so its often out of pocket repair.

Just finished Warrior Kickboxing. So in the messages you don't expect category. Derek texted me yesterday that apparently Derek doesn't like seeing the inside of frogs because he fainted and hit his head and Aliah was taking him to get it checked out. They found nothing other than the bump and gave him a list of things to watch for and Aliah took charge of keeping him off screens. They also didn't go to the hockey game last night as bright lights and fast movement wouldn't have been good. Last time I heard from her he still had no headache and the bump was starting to recede. Mostly he's just unhappy with himself. I also thought Nick would be the one to do that with his lifelong issue of not being able to look at blood at all, but no he's happily pursuing some type of career in a medical field, and blood no longer bothers him. Derek who has never had issues with anything faints at the sight of frog insides. Must have made for an interesting class for everyone else. So, glad he has Aliah she totally turns into Mother Hen when he's not feeling good.

Valerie I don't think there is nearly that level of vandalism issue here. People on social media complain about everything and I'm on some upper peninsula groups and can only seeing one instance about cars. However, signs and buildings near trails do seem prone to being vandalized and there's nothing for thieves to get out of that, it's just people out to wreak havoc. I do know I'm not as careful as I could be about what I leave in the car when traveling.

Carolyn nice job with Rev’d Up Rumble.

Diane Sue great job with Mega Mix #2 and Legs and Glute Finisher and stretch.

cathy it didnt used to exist here either but hiking got popular and people started taking costly things along with them. used to be be moldy socks and t shirts. too many people still do dumb things like put their purse in the trunk /under the seat, or their wallet in the glove box. REALLY? no one would ever look there....
property crime has gotten worse. media makes it easier to re-sell stolen goods. if it weren't lucrative, it wouldn't be so popular with thieves. street drug use is more common, and those folks will ssmash windows out of a car to steal piece of pizza crust. it's harder when you're traveling. you dont want to hike with your laptop, wallet, keys, phone, e- reader and any other electronic goodies people travel with now. make it as hidden as you can and try not to worry. the closer you are parked to a busy highway, where there's a quick getaway , the more likely for thieves to hit but isolated areas arent a free pass anymore either. sad to see such things become common.

oh too funny about the frog insides. I felt bad pithing the poor little guy, one of the first frog experiments we did. exposure decreases squeamishness over time. I used to be bothered by blood but as a laboratory person, that went away quickly. all of a sudden, it was an everyday sight, no biggie. we got used to opening a lab refrigerator, finding body parts from surgery, endless containers of pee and poop and sputum. it makes you way less sensitive. quickly. its not unusual for someone to faint. I would think with zoo animals there would be plenty of injuries, infections, afflictions and body exudates that are pretty gross so he will callous up in due time. he should be able to laugh about it soon.

Today I did Gym Style Back, Shoulders, and Biceps (timesaver) for 40 minutes and 185 calories burned. My average heart rate was 120 and maximum heart rate was 141. Then I did Jessica Smith’s One Mile of Motivation for 15 minutes and 105 calories burned. Average heart rate was 132 and maximum heart rate 158.

Valerie, that type of vandalism is much too common these days. People are looking for things to steal quickly.

Cathy, great job with Warrior Kickboxing. Poor Derek. As Valerie said, exposure should make it easier.

Diane Sue, great job with Raw Mega Mix, Raw Legs and Glutes Finisher, and Raw Post workout stretch.
