Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--
This morning I did X38--the 38 min. premix on X10 which combines the low impact and step workouts. Pretty good.
What I have to say about the beginnings of Women's Studies at Williams is only about 5 min. long (one of five on a panel) and really only of interest, I think, locally. The problem was that this was an all-male institution until 1972 (I was the first woman hired in the English dept.), when they brought in the first freshman class of women on a quota system--1/3 women to 2/3 men. It was a real struggle to create a curricular space for learning about women's history, place in society, and their achievements. If you really want to read something by me with a Women's Studies slant, there's a piece I wrote on Thelma and Louise that is fairly easy to find online.
Josie, I'm mostly knitting these days. I'm wearing a very pretty red wool double-breasted cardigan that took me ages to finish because of the lower half--lots of complicated stitches. I do have some knits that I plan to sew up quickly into turtleneck dresses, probably my favorite thing to wear in the winter.
Yay, Red Sox!!!
