Pentagenarians & Beyond" W/B 10/1

Deb, every time I go to the store and look at baby food I am unsure what kind to buy. Do you buy meat veggie, or just veggie, or just meat? Which kind? I tried giving Gertie only her dry dog food recently and after a couple of days she decided to hold out eating it till I put the pumpkin back in. It is funny because I only put a small spoon of pumpkin in. I did this because she seemed to have some stomach upset. It was probably something else she ate, outside or from grandchildren. My grandson 3 let her have a chicken tender that was breaded the other night. I have to put her outside till eating is over or she hovers under the table.

I'm glad I mentioned the shoulder bag issue. back before luggage had wheels, I carried heavy suitcases, and working in outside sales I also had a heavy bag I carried every day. I used mainly the right side, being right handed, and of course that is the shoulder that had an issue. . makes me wonder if there's a connection! I don't look unbalanced in the mirror but most of us are not perfectly symmetrical, and over a lifetime I'm sure imbalances can become more apparent. maybe I was used to lifting the right side up because of the load, or maybe that side got stronger overall. it was a surprise when PT pointed it out, but once I was aware of it, I gradually stopped doing it. and then the shoulder got better. maybe it would have anyway, no way to be certain.

Deb ...Happy birthday to John. will you do anything special? or his best birthday a day spent fishing?

probably will do a weight workout later today. got my cardio done for the week for sure.

Today's workout was STS cardio hiit 40/20, 30 minutes, 240 calories, heart rate average 131, max 165, 2,219 steps. I then did ab circuits stability ball abs, heart ratw 108 average, max 126, 88 calories, and finished with Suzanne Bowen Barre Amped relaxation stretch, 15 minutes, 33 calories. Total time 65 minutes, 361 calories. We will be going out of town on the motorcycle today. It poured rain at 2 this morning. It woke me . Now the sun is shining :)

Valerie, I always carry a large handbag with lots of extras, like bottled water in it on my right shoulder. I have shifted it when my shoulder is hurting though. It feels uncomfortable on the left.

Today is a much needed rest day. I did some menu planning and grocery shopping this morning. Although I don’t plan meals in detail, I like to write out a few meals especially if I am trying something new.

Valerie, I was the same with bags and suitcases. I was an itinerant therapist for 20 years traveling between schools with bags of therapy materials. Add in high heels and you are on the way to poor body alignment.

Diane Sue, I hope the rain is gone and you can enjoy the motorcycle trip. We have rain and wind from hurricane Nate in the forecast for later tonight.

Hello to Lori, Deb, and Judy.

Good afternoon ladies!

Another beautiful day here! This morning Bob had a business function he needed to attend so I worked out. :). Pretty much a total body workout...started out with a Bellicon arm and glute workout, then a bellicon dance, onto BBS lower body band section from her Hips, Thighs and Buns DVD then finished with a new BBS 11 min core. Total time was 69 mins/ 460 cal. This afternoon we biked to the beach and walked the shore for a bit and ended up sitting in the life guard's stand for a while just enjoying the view. The beaches are empty in New England at this time of year. Tonight we are going to the Brazilian Grille for dinner and we plan to eat everything!

Valerie..I am so proud of my husband. He has done awesome! I carry my heavy shoulder bags on my right shoulder but it is my left that is troublesome. :(

Diane Sue..great workouts! Good to know you liked Madison Reed. I have seen their commercials and did not know much aboitbthem or anyone who tried their products.

Carolyn...enjoy your rest day!

Deb...happy birthday to John!!! I am really hoping the shot works too! Sick of being limited with my movement.

We went on the motorcycle to another city that was having a car show and drag racing. We have a friend and his family that my husband used to work with that live there. We sat in the back of their vehicle with the hatch up to watch and visit. Then one of my long time friends who is the mother of the male friend came and it was so nice to see her. We are going to get together later on to catch up more. I knew not long ago that she had to go to emergency and they put in an emergency pace maker. She has had quite a few thing happen to her lately. I have kept up with some via facebook . It was kind of chilly when we came home. It was getting dark and I had a hard time warming back up. I had only eaten a RX bar today after my workout and had some Kombucha. It was 8 when we got home and I was so hungry. I had expected to go eat when we were there. We ended up going to Arby's and got french dip sandwiches and mozzarella sticks. This was one of those times when I did not care what I ate. I was shivering so much when we sat down to eat in Arby's and my husband asked for them to make it to go instead so I could get warmed up. Poor Gertie looked kind of devastated when we ran in gave her a cookie and a bowl of food and went back out the door. She just sat in the doorway looking at the door with a sad look when we went out.

Lori, one of the hair color ingredients that set off allergic reactions is PPD-Paraphenylenediamine. Madison Reed is one of a few that does not have this in it. There are other chemicals they leave out as well like Resorcinol, ammonia. They have a lot of different colors including some new one. I have been looking at tips and their blog and coloring ideas for blonde hair. I bet walking on the beach was nice without lots of people. My husband and I used to do that in California at night. There were not so many people around then.

Carolyn, I ran to Sprouts this morning while my husband was watching the OU football game before we left on our ride. I want to get as much planning done as I can since my Aunt will be coming here sometime the first part of the week. I am putting together things for a couple of family dinners since I don't know for sure which day. I still have to hit the dreaded Walmart which I will do Monday.
