Good morning,

No workout yesterday. We went to see "The Producers" at one of our local theaters...we have season tickets. The play was awesome. :)

Valerie, good that the YJ's are gone. Maybe with the freeze next week you will not see any again for the rest of the season.

Diane Sue, a crow? maybe it is stuck somewhere? The 4-Day Split weight work sounds interesting to me as well.

Everyone must be having a busy weekend!

Take care!

Hello Ladies,
I never got to check in yesterday, but it was a rest day (from working out). It was actually pretty hectic with several things that I had to get done. Today was more of an active rest day. I walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes then did a Chris Freytag yoga for 25 minutes.

It finally feels like fall today and I love it. The weather is mild and breezy. I am going to make an apple onion chutney to go with pork in honor of this fine fall day.

I hope you are all having a wonderful day.

Today is a rest day. We had family brunch. Just relaxing today :)

Deb, I asked my husband if he thought the crow was up there nesting and he said no, they should be headed south soon. I saw a group of them at my daughter's today. I did not hear it this morning when I was showering.

Carolyn, an active rest day is nice once in awhile too. We have a nice breeze today and not terribly hot. It is beautiful outside here too :)

Good evening ladies,

Today I did Cathe Live Fit Tower Cardio Legs. It was a great workout. I followed up with the BBS cardio Dance and then SB's cardio portion of her bounce dvd. Total times was an 1 hour and 27 mins / 515cal. We went for a 4 mile bike ride this evening and I walked GiGi 2 miles. I'll say I have certainly exercised today and deserve the glass of wine I am having now! :). Yesterday morning I did the BBS dance cardio scheduled along with a quick BBS tramp. 47 mins. The baseball game was tons of fun. They won the division so it was even more fun being there in a suite for this! :D

Diane ...glad you enjoyed the show! What fun!

Valerie...Lately, I have been doing more light weights, hi reps then heavy weight workouts and the hi reps have been working for me. I love how my arms look. Very toned and not bulky. I mainly started thinking about rebounding once I knew how amazing it was for your lymphatic system. When SB started with it then that was it for me. I needed to get one.

Diane Sue...yes the Bellicon is tall. Even a little taller than the jumpsport. Fortunately, I do not jump on and off of it so no issues here.

Carolyn...oh the chutney sounds delicious!

Have a evening all!!!!

so I looked at Bellicon... did not look at a video since we were driving and uses too much data. how do you stay on it? it looks like you could easily fly off of it. like it needs hand rails? can you watch anything on a screen while bouncing?

no workout today or yesterday. a 12 hr drive kills me and I am so tired today it is not in me to do one. will ride tomorrow.

Crows are very intelligent birds and can recognize individual people and use tools to get what they want. I wonder what yours are up to? they are great at locating a kill and if you watch, the crows will often point you to it.
when we got to our house last sunday, there were all kinds of bluebirds flying around. so gorgeous!. they were all gone by the end of the week. must have migrated.

Carolyn that sounds lovely. all of a sudden summer fruit sounds uninteresting, and I am ready for fall apples.

Do you all remember Lynda ( garance) who used to post with us? she is having a big knee surgery this week. there is a thread over on the open discussion forum. wish her good luck if you would like.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did Cathe' Live "Totally Pumped Total Body". This was a great total body weight workout...
Also had a nice dinner with my brother and nieces etc, He turns 70 today....I can't believe he is 70.

Carolyn, I am enjoying the cooler weather as well. Your pork dinner sounds lovely.

Diane Sue, glad that crow is not nesting...I keep seeing a scene from "The Birds"...LOL...

Lori, great workouts! Nice that you got both a bike ride and walk with Gigi in as well.

Valerie, I can see how a 12 hour ride could really tire you out,. I didn't know about crows and how smart they are. Will check out that post about Lynda, thanks for mentioning here.

A workout, then puppy class this morning. I will be bringing Kylee to use as a demo dog...:)

Take care,

Today was D 22, Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps. My time was 69 minutes with 238 calories burned Average heart rate 103 and maximum heart rate 137. I am making good progress with being able to lift heavier with the barbell and dumbbells.

Deb, great job with the Live Totally Pumped. I'm sure that it feels good to get back to some of your favorites.

Valerie, I am definitely in a mood for fall flavors. I want pumpkin, and spices, and apples! The chutney was a new recipe that I got from a store newsletter, but it was very good. Thanks for the update on Lynda. I hope all goes well for her.

Lori, you had quite a workout day yesterday. Good for you.

Waves to Diane Sue and Judy.

This morning I did Low Impact Series Total Body Trisets premix, Total Body Express, I set of everything in this one. 50 minutes,m 270 calories, I stuck with Cathe's weights since I am doing 4 Day Split weight work this week. I need to get some things accomplished so no cardio today, I sat and mapped out this weeks workouts. This is my 8th week with this type of rotation so I may change things next week.
My plan for this week
Monday Total Body Tri-sets Total Body Express ( I wish I would have done the scrambled that alternates upper and lower) 50 minutes
Tuesday 4 Day Split Kickbox cardio and lower body 71 minutes I may add the abs here from 4 Day Split
Wednesday 4 Day Split mix back and biceps skip stretch, 4 Day Split higher Intensity Step 64 minutes
Thursday Cardio Slam + cardio and abs
Friday 4 Day Split Chest, shoulders, and triceps 33 minutes, lower intensity stpe 37 minutes 70 minutes total
Saturday STS Hiit 40/20 30 minutes, + STS abs circuits stability ball abs 20 minutes 50 minutes total

Lori, how many Fit Tower workouts are on Cathe live now? I keep thinking I want to get the live workouts again. Today when I had finished my workout and was pulling out dvds for the week and putting them in a to do now case, I remembered I had wanted to do the later URX Extreme dvd that I had put in the case. It would have been a good one for a total body day. I like the way he does the rebounder moves between the strength moves. I could use the Fit Tower for the pull up moves. I will get that one in one of these days.

Valerie, there are lots of videos for the Bellicon and other rebounders. Mine came with a bar to hold on to which I took off after initially getting used to it. The Jump Sport has a bar that you can purchase. It requires some stability but is really not hard to stay on. They do away with the impact. I can do those flying jacks, and tuck jumps on the rebounder without it bothering my knees when I land. You tube has a lot of rebounding workouts. Some are very beginner and some are more advanced. You can really get your heart rate up on one if you want too. You can watch a movie while on one. I probably wouldn't try to go all out and pay attention to the television though.
Crows are definitely intelligent birds. My Dad used to talk about one that he had took care of that was injured and it had become sort of a pet. Later it became a problem because little things around the house would disappear. He said they found the stuff by following the crow to where it's stash was. I would love to see a bunch of blue birds. When we had our home with loads of trees and shrubbery we had blue jays( mean birds) , cardinals, and robins. The robins really wanted to protect their nests. They would fly at us when we came in the entry by the side porch and squack. I had to put my dogs in when we had some cardinals working their babies out of the nest and over the fence. I figured they were going near the pond on the other side of the fence. I was afraid they would catch one of the babies.

Deb, that live workout would have probably worked for me for Total Body today. It sounds like you had a pleasant weekend. LOL on a scene from the Birds :)

Carolyn, I keep wanting pumpkin spice and apple dishes. I just finished off a bag of pumpkin spice decaf coffee beans. I love those flavors.

Good evening ladies!

Today is a rest day. My legs were still tired from yesterday.

Valerie...most people have that reaction! When you rebound you are bouncing down into the rebounder vs. bouncing up. Makes a huge difference. With all the different bounces I have done I have yet to fall off. I have watched the news while bouncing but do not think I could concentrate on a movie. Thank you about mentioning about Lynda's knee surgery. I would have missed it.

Deb....I bet that workout felt great! I did not walk GiGi tonight but Bob played fetch with her. She was happy. :)

Caroyln...you are doing great with STS! You must be more than half way!

Diane Sue...right now there are only 2 Live FT workouts. This most recent and then the road trip one. Both are over 60 mins. That 8 weeks went by quick. I love the bar on the jumpsport but not something you can quickly remove. Both my son and I prefer doing pullups on the jumpsport vs the FitTower. Jumpsport barre is just a little taller which we both like.

So very sad in Las Vegas today. All those people just out enjoying themselves.

Lori, I wouldn't even try to do a pull up with the bar that came with my urban rebounder. it is a bit difficult to put on and remove. I think I would do more with SB on the rebounder, but I am lazy about the effort of setting up the tower with weights on it to use the workouts. I thought about doing the upper and ab segment today, but messed around and decided I did not feel like setting it all up for a few minute workout. My rebounder stands on it's side by the spin bike a lot of the time. Particularly now that I have the Fit Tower to work around. I sometimes grab the top of the Fit Tower instead of using the bar that slides up and down.
I feel so bad for all of those people in Las Vegas. I wonder how that guy got hold of the automatic weapon. You don't just go to the store and buy one!

Lori I should watch a video .............didn't want to do it while driving. I don't ever use all my data but why chance it. Not sure I would like it if I could not watch something while doing it. with indoor exercise, I need something to watch on a screen.

yes, what a mess in Vegas. Not sure if it is better to think this guy had an "agenda" of some sort, or if it was purposeless. neither one feels good. all those dead and wounded people! so sad. but I suppose nothing will come of it, until the next person decides to "outdo" this guy. I gave up thinking of change after Newtown. those weapons of war should not be available to the average citizens. hard to imagine collecting them all at this point. I would like to know how this guy got all this gear up into a hotel room and hidden for days. wonder what will show up on security tape footage. maybe he refused maid service? this is too much stuff to shove under the bed or in a closet.

Lori, for people who like to exercise it's really hard to face a surgical procedure that will affect things, most likely improving things, but still a anxiety producer. I sweated blood before my ACL procedure but it went well and improved everything. I'm so glad I did it, but it was hard to get to that point. I thought Lynda might appreciate a few supportive words from us.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did a Walk Fit treadmill workout...40 minutes, 256 calories.

Carolyn, like Lori mentioned...you are past the half way mark with STS! Great job.

Diane Sue, looks like a good rotation. I plan on doing the lower body workout from 4DS either today or tomorrow. The Live workouts have such a variety, and with Lori's list of them, it is pretty easy to find one that fits a rotation. I just wish they would solve my ( and others) issue with not being able to play anything from October 2016 and back..:(.

Lori, I have never seen one of those rebounders either....I need to go over to YouTube and check them out. I bet Gigi loves her fetching as much as her walks/runs.

A workout, then some errands. Class was cancelled this morning...

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday was a sad day, with what happened in Las Vegas. How horrible for all of the people and their families. :( Very sad to see that Tom Petty passed away too :(

Sunday I did High Reps and added on the 100 rep tricep challenge from XTrain. Yesterday I did an hour of Jessica Smith yoga. I like to alternate between Cathe's yoga and Jessica's. Jessica's is not as intense as Cathe's, but she has a similar approach.

Deb-Great job on the treadmill workout! I love Cathe's Live workouts too, but haven't done many recently. I purchased an annual subscription last November and am trying to decide whether or not to renew. I am more of a DVD person and haven't been using the On Demand very much. The last time I did a week of Live workouts I ended up hurting my low back, and haven't done one since. I may just stick with DVDs and downloads for awhile and see if I miss the streaming option.

Diane Sue-That looks like a great rotation. I also like to pull out DVDs that I want to do, or that are in my rotation for the week ahead.

Lori-you definitely earned a rest day!

Valerie-I agree about surgical procedures causing anxiety. I've been lucky not to need anything like that yet. Thank you for mentioning Lynda's surgery. I don't always look at the other threads in the forums and I had not seen that one.

Carolyn-Great job with STS! It's awesome when you see strength gains.

Judy

there is no actual reason to do the drive all in one stretch. in winter especially it might not work. once we get going, usually at 6 am latest, we keep going til we're home. when we use the camper we stop midway and do something to break the tedium. with the car we do gas stops, have our food and snacks set up. neither of us likes staying in motels. loud and smelly. I traveled for my job for almost 20 years and never got very good at tolerating them. so it seems best to go until we get where we're going.

Judy I am just awful about medical procedures. the anxiety and stress before hand are worse than the actual procedure. I worry about the most ridiculous things. I know they are crazy unreasonable nonsense ideas but it happens anyway. I am seeing a Derm today for a small spot on my leg and all night I was convinced my leg would probably need amputation. totally goofy I know, but at night the worries won't let me sleep. it's funny because once I get into the actual process I'm calm and collected.
I also was saddened to hear Tom Petty has passed. I loved his music.

no workout again yesterday, and today is looking marginal. DH went to mt bike, but this derm appt is mid day so I couldn't go. will try to do something less time consuming before I go.

Today I did 4 Day Split Kickbox, 34 minutes, 225 calories, heart rate 130 average, 164 max, 2,806 steps. I stopped at the weights and restarted tracking to separate the workouts calorie burns as the heart rate average goes way down when I do weights. 4 Day Split lower body was 47 minutes ( I guess it took a long time writing and setting up) heart rate average 102, max 134, 195 calories. Total time was 81 minutes, 420 calories.
Weights today:
squats warm up 24#
front squats heels elevated barbell 35# x 12 reps, 12 reps
deadlifts on step dumbbells 25's x 8 reps, 8 reps
plie squats on step 30# x 16 reps, 35# x 16 reps
leg press 14 inch 30# x 12 reps, 12 reps
leg press/outer thigh lift 10 inch 15's and 5# ankle weight, 12 reps, 12 reps
low plane lunges platform 20's x 10 reps ,10reps
outer thigh with band blue band
barbell squats 50# various speeds and reps ending in 8 singles
core

Deb, I did a couple of the older live workouts when I had it with no problem. I hope they get it fixed for those that are having problems. You are getting in some good workouts lately.

Valerie, I think anticipation of any surgery can cause some anxiety. I remember my worries with the torn miniscus. I did a lot of research and questioned the surgeon a lot before I went through with it. I don't know , maybe the guy had large luggage with it all hidden in it. I am sure that there is stuff the investigators are looking into that have not been divulged to media at this point until there are some answers. I hope they figure out what prompted it.

Judy, it is harder to avoid injury if you do not know what the workouts contain. I like dvds myself. The live was nice for a bit of a change and if I do it again it will probably just before a short time. Being familiar with a workout makes it easier to know where to modify. That is sad a bout Tom Petty. He has so many popular songs out there. I think there are even some bits of his music in some of Cathe's dvds.

I'm also a dvd person. streaming doesn't work well in our workout room here. now need to work on something for the MT house. right now I'm dragging my weights into the great room, using the TV/ dvd player in there. we have a bedroom we'd planned to use for exercise. we have an old dvd player. If I get a small TV that should be enough. I don't think we will do extensive workouts there but I've done one on the last two visits.
Right now, the house does not feel like "home". there are always projects and activities to do at 'home", but there, if we aren't hiking or riding, we feel at a loss for what to do, now that we've gotten most of the work completed.

I had been without an ACL for several years. apparently there is a wide range of how much it affects everyone. I was fine unless I tried to jump, or had an unexpected move of my lower leg, like if snow gave way. then my femur would bang into the top of the tibial plateau. it really hurt! so I was having that happen a few times a year. I sure was scared to get the ACL repair done and it turned out great. there was several months of recovery. I wore a brace after that when hiking for the rest of the year. all in all, I worried for nothing.

It looks like 4 DS Kickbox was a popular workout today. I think 3 of us did that one :)

Valerie-I am awful about medical procedures, and even screenings too. I seem to have much more anxiety about these things since I hit menopause. I worry constantly if I have something scheduled or am waiting on a test result. I hope your dermatologist visit goes well.

Diane Sue-I think that's the issue with the live workouts for me. I try to keep up with what they are doing and I end up doing something I shouldn't. The live workouts are really fun and effective, but I think I need to stick with DVD workouts for now.

Today I did ICE Rock Em Sock Em Kickboxing and Icy Core 1. Total time was 1 hour, 437 calories burned, average heart rate 130 and maximum heart rate 167.

Judy, I am the same as you with the Live workouts. I haven't done one in months and I much prefer the dvds. I will probably cancel my subscription when it comes up in November.

Diane Sue, I think that not knowing what's coming is one of the reasons that I don't do the Live workouts more.

Yesterday was a very sad day for me also. Our society and our lives seem to be spiraling out of control at times. I try to keep my thoughts positive, so I am going to focus on good things. Have a great day everyone.

Maybe as you get things done and go to your second home you will discover more things to occupy yourself. That is interesting that you were without the ACL for so long and still be able to do things. I am glad it went well for you. I think most of us probably worry needlessly. I always feel relieved when I have a physical over with and they don't find anything :)

Judy, yes, it does look like it was a 4 Day Split kickbox day. I am doing 4 Day Split Back and Biceps mix tomorrow with the higher intensity step.

Carolyn, nice calorie burn and workout today. Yes, I was feeling a bit melancholy this afternoon. I sat and practiced on the piano for awhile. Trying to find the positive.
