Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 1/29

Good news on another good sleep. maybe the dogs need drugs so they sleep thru the night!
I hear you on Florida. we ended up there regularly for national sales meetings. they had accommodations for large groups and it was cheaper travel because the bulk of the sales force lived east of the mississippi. they also had humidity. even clothes that fit in other climates feel uncomfortable because of your skin being constantly damp from perspiration. Every morning I woke up the windows would be streaming water. Never liked it there.

the woman worked in my husband's office for many years. we've been to their house , they've been here. been out to lunch with them. we know them, but not "close" . she was transferred to a different office so we don't hear from her much anymore. It is VERY weird seeing people you know (and their house) in crisis on national TV. their house NEVER looked like that! we've met the boys briefly years ago.
They are kind decent people but WAY short on parenting skills... overwhelmed. I hope they are sent to classes so they can learn how to set limits and discipline. wow.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did After Burn (54 min.).

Deb, Cardio Supersets is definitely cardio. You only use the dumbbells briefly at the beginning. Athletic Training is definitely both cardio and weights/resistance work. It would be great if you could get back into working out again. I love these workouts and feel like Cathe really created a challenging but not impossible series this time. I modify some of the moves and keep my step lower for AT and LIC, but still work up quite a sweat on the cardio even so. I just hope if she does another series that she will include low impact modifications for at least one of her background exercisers. One can only hope!

I don't mind humidity if I don't have to wear much--Hah! The Jersey Shore can be very humid, too, but I'm just in a bathing suit most of the time and cool off in the water when I get too hot. You just have to give up on the hair and put it in a pony tail because that's really all you can do. I don't think I would want to go to a convention where it's hot and humid unless I stayed in AC the whole time.

Well, have a great weekend everyone! Go Pats!

Happy Friday Ladies,

I will be riding 52 miles tomorrow from Ventura to Carpinteria, some of the ride is part of the ALC rout. On Sunday I plan on doing a short ride or spinning depending on how I feel after Saturday.

So, I talked to the training leader that went back to confront the guy that pushed the car door open on us, and he said that guy was just egging him on to have a fight. Stanley then told him that if he put a hand on him he would have to defend himself and that he would be sorry.
Stanley is about 4’11”, but he has studied marshal arts for 18 years. The cops were called and the guy started to make excuses as to why he had opened the door and he also said that he worked for the city and he gave the cops his boss’s name.
The cops asked Stanley if the guy had put a hand on him because they really wanted to take him in.
There were several people walking by that were supporting Stanley and confirmed that the guy was trying to start a fight. The cops had to let him go, but gave him a warning, Stanley called the guy’ boss and reported what he did and the boss was very upset, so the guy might not have a job anymore ;)

Have a great Super Bowl weekend everyone!

Josie

Josie, hope that guy lost his job over that. It would be nice to think this jerk learned his lesson. it's a low down and dangerous thing to do. Stanley is one brave and lucky guy.... glad to hear he could defend himself if necessary.... probably any male adult who's 4'11" would realize the benefit of martial arts training! bet that's not the first time someone tried to cause trouble for him.

we actually are having a sunny stretch of several days and I'm hoping we might get in a ride, though it won't be real warm, more likely 50 or so. somehow I don't have much enthusiasm for snow sports this year. we might do a snowshoe on saturday and are struggling to find a place to go that is accessible and won't be too busy.

I strongly agree about the LIS series. I have quite a few different workouts but LIS and LBB are my overall favorites. this morning I did 35 on the treadmill and Abs from turbo barre. had to get my hair done so will do something else later today, something where I won't get too sweaty and mangle my hair.

Morning all,

We have to drop of some urine of Kylee's at the vet's this morning, they never did the recheck on her UTI situation. They were going to do it last Friday when she was spayed, but for some reason they didn't do it. They made up some garbled excuse, I think they just forgot. Anyway, she is still having a hard time holding it in the afternoon, from 12:30 to 5:30. She is ok in the morning, so we think it has to do with the fact that she sleeps most of the morning hours, and is awake in the afternoon. Oh, she took her stitches out. She is the vixen for sure.

Keegan's agility class this morning, then maybe some shopping with my cousin if she is available for Florida stuff. Mostly HouseMax the rest of the weekend. No superbowl for this household.

Take care,

Did 35 treadmill and abs from turbio barre yesterday morning, and then did the rest of turbo barre in the afternoon. that is one tough workout. I am simply not built for dance moves with my legs held high. it is so hard for me. but I did it anyway. I think it's a little easier than at first.
