Every gastro doc has a favorite preparation... His wanted "no fiber/low residue" diet 2 days before, all clear liquid diet the day before, and only water on "C-Day". Most of the people around here use Miralax... an OTC laxative, not bad mixed in gatorade. (Go-Lytly used to be used, the gallon of foul liquid) DH gets hungry/weak on the clear liquid day. Clear broth, black coffee, apple juice, tea, green/yellow jello, popsicles. nothing with red/blue/orange/purple colors. so the only thing you can "eat" is jello, and by about noon of the clear liquid day jello is not looking pretty. I make two big packages so he had two flavors to pick from.
I had mine 4 years ago. my doc wanted a low fiber diet starting 3 days ahead, then the clear liquid day. I was miserable. I eat vegies, fruit, whole grains and not much else so the no fiber bound me up. I was up the entire night before the procedure in the bathroom. I took a blanket in there and "slept" on the floor in front of the toilet. we will have a 'consult" before I sign up for THAT again.
For most people like DH the procedure itself is easy.... he watched much of it on camera. Mine was horrendous. I needed a huge amount of the anesthetic and was a basket case for 12 hours after. I got motion sick on the way home and vomited the juice they'd given me afterwards. so I had to clean my car besides! Besides all that, my prep was not that good so I'm dreading she may want Go-lytely next time.
Cathy, I'm no help either, use workout manager to print work sheets for STS. I write in stuff done on a paper calendar. I'm never had reflux but that sounds awful!
garance, not to go all political here, but we were so disappointed with the massachusetts vote. We were so hoping something would get done with healthcare and it's looking less likely by the minute. Not perfect, but a start. So many people going with no care at all because they can't afford it.
Want to hear your review of Avatar. I told DH we should see it in a theater after the buzz winds down , but before the oscars. I hate crowded theaters.
If the instructor annoys me I won't do the workout. so I'm careful what I buy.
weather is so lovely here, spring-like, 62 degrees. daffodils coming up, witch hazel, and hellebores blooming. we did a 30 mile bike ride yesterday. the same ride I did last fall and developed the shoulder DVT. I lowered my bike seat a little so I'm not leaning so hard on my shoulder. that unfortunately puts more pressure on my butt. so today my shoulder is happy but my butt/crotch is sore. a good 30 mile ride though. first ride is always slow compared to after doing it a few times. so nice sitting in the sun. I changed my plans and should do disk #9 today and then on to #10.
