Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 1/16

Deb, have you looked at caffeine being part of the sleep problem? I used to drink loads of reg coffee when I was younger, as late as after dinner, but gradually lost my ability to metabolize it. I now can have a little , a tiny tiny bit in the morning and that's it. no lunch time coffee, coke, or tea unless it's decaf. I drink loads of decaf in the morning and one latte with a tiny bit of the 'real" stuff in with the decaf. there is significant caffeine in coke, pepsi, chcoolate and other soda pop.
I've been battling sleep issues for years and it's weird how tiny things can make a difference. I also have to turn over the face of my clock because the bright clock face bothers me.

It was tough getting on the site today. They must be updating something. I ususally just hit forums but that took me nowhere. It did work when I hit check-ins & challenges. Then when I tried to go to last post it wouldn't take me there but when I went to the post first I could get to the last post.

Our snow is now ice. It was 2 degrees at about 7am. They are even talking of another 3-6 inches of snow. I want spring now.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

I slept in this morning. Bad headcold, but at least I could sleep.

Valerie, there is no avoiding exposure if you are a teacher. I am pretty careful, but I know a couple of my students were coughing, sneezing, so there were probably free-floating germs in the classroom last week.

Deb, you did not log in this morning! I'm shocked. How are you doing, girl?

We had about 4-5 more inches of snow last night. Wow! Talk about banks of snow. It's actually a little dangerous at intersections because of the snow banks. Joan, that is the best strategy for dh snoring. Just have another available bed and save what Regis calls "the marriage bed" for non-sleeping activities.

Well, back to nose-blowing here.

I sympathize about the snow and the 2 degrees. we're getting another deluge of rain. it's been raining hard all night and all morning, standing water everywhere. it's better than snow but about this time of year I have had enough. lots of snow in the mountains but it's pretty high and not going to be good for low level skiers like DH and myself.

Maybe Deb had trouble like Joan did. I was on early with no problems, but just briefly. Lynda, take care of yourself. colds are so miserable. DH usually is the one who gets exposed at work and brings it home to 'share'. hope you're feeling better soon.

went to yoga this morning and will be doing some kind of workout while the floor guys are working. we will be in our camper tonight for dinner and sleeping. I did more than necessary last time and know not to overkill it this time.

Hi Ladies,

Happy Friday! Two weeks down, ten more to go. I went spinning on Wednesday and I also took the yoga class after. It felt great and it helped with the soreness for the BHIP program. On Thursday we did 6 sets of 8 dead lifts with 65lbs and 15 sit ups (both equal one set) with our heals touching and going all the way back and then lifting and going forward until you touch your toes. We did not have any breaks in between; it took me 10 minutes and 56 seconds. We do an extensive warm up before the work out and the trainers explaining the workout very thoroughly.

Today's work out consisted squats with a toss of a 12lb ball, we also did burppies (sp).
We had to do 200 between 3 people, so we each did about 66 total and them we stretched. The following is my homework for the weekend:

Homework for the Weekend (1/22 & 1/23)
DONE IN ORDER:
-30 seconds On and 30 Seconds Off x 8, Superman Banana

-30 seconds On and 30 seconds Off x 8, Flutter Kicks

-30 seconds On and 30 seconds Off x 8, Plank

-100 Squats (with excellent form and as fast as possible.)

-100 Walking Lunges with arms extended overhead. (With excellent form and as fast as possible. You can hold a stick overhead or you can clasp your hands together and turn your palms up to the sky.)

I feel great so far, and this weekend I plan to go on a bike ride and maybe spinning tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!

Hey all,

Just a normal Saturday, agility class, then we have a play this afternoon at 4:00. The name is "Third" not sure what is is about, I will Google it in a minute.

Sorry I was MIA yesterday, got up late, terrible night again, and did not get a lot of computer time before leaving for work.

Lots of HouseMax today, the place is a disaster. DH was "re-organizing" some of his stuff and it has been all over the living room for 2 weeks now, along with a utility cart for the garage he bought right after Christmas, put together and left right where he finished. No nagging does any good, as a matter of fact, it makes it worse.

Off to make more coffee, will check in a little later to see what everyone is up to.

Valerie, caffine may be part of my problem, although I try to do all decafe after around 11:00 am. I should really cut back more. I also have a bright clock face that probably bothers me. I will throw something over it tonight and see if that helps. Thanks! I don't think I would like the amount of rain you are getting either...depressing, and can you say, "endless bad hair days!"

Garance, Hope you are getting over the cold. We got the same snow you did, and it's 10 degrees here now...this has been a challenging winter, and it's only January.

Josie, I don't think I would have the stamina for that exercise program. I don't do Burpees, nope, not me.

Hi to Joan & Cathy,

Stay warm and dry!

Ha ha... every jacket I have has a hood. I would not buy one without a hood. I don't think I have an umbrella.

the clock face.. I used to sleep facing away but now face the clock. I turn the clock face down so it's not glowing, but I can pick it up & look if need to.

the caffeine may not be burning off. if I have too much ( not much at all) it's like it waits until the middle of the night and then surges and keeps me awake. I drink plenty of coffee in the morning, but decaf. I reduced it from 100% caffeinated to decaf over about a year by mixing the two. DH had to get off because of migraines but an abrupt change could have caused headaches so we did it gradually. He used to drink a load of diet pepsi, and quit that, went to decaf sugar free coke, and also reduced quantity. It wasn't that hard to do with a plan. You may want to phase 'down" but abrupt changes can cause headaches in almost anyone.

Just waiting for the next 5 inches of snow to arrive tonight.

I wish everyone would write to Congress and yell at them. Everyone must electronic file for me because I do more than a 100 returns, but because they didn't "change" the law until Dec. if you itemize, deduct the $250 teacher expense or deduct tuition you can't efile until Feb 14. They didn't even change the law. It was set to expire and they extended it. Why couldn't that be done in Sept?

I have been doing my lifting and walking. If I could just eat less. I have been eating about 1700 calories and I can't lose on that.

Joan
