Pentagenarians & Beyond: November 16, 2025

Today I just did Killer Legs Barre Bonus. Yesterday I did PP Upper Body, which I see I didn't actually put in my post. LOL

I still get the DVD's because sometimes our internet is glitchy, but one they drop them, I'll just use OnDemand, I don't want to deal with downloads.

Today I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga, which was 18 minutes.

Judy, great job with Peloton Full Body, Peloton Hip Mobility, Yin Yoga, and Restorative Yoga.

Valerie, nice job with the 2 hour 17 minute park walk. You should try The Diplomat on Netflix. It’s a series, not a movie, but if you watch a couple of episodes at a time it will be around movie length. It’s an excellent political thriller in its third season.

Cathy, nice job with Killer Legs Barre bonus and PP Upper Body.

Hello to Diane Sue.

Carolyn we just watched the Diplomat. its DH's favorite series. I enjoyed it a lot too. we had watched seasons 1and 2 long ago and rewatched #2 and then #3. Loved it!. I swear all the good scriptwriters have gone to series now. you can easily watch Diplomat twice and pick up things you missed the first time.

we try to watch a movie or two on the weekends and struggle to find good ones. we don't do superhero, slasher, mindless violence. I'm picky, not spending 2 hours on unentertaining nonsense. there was a NYT article a couple days ago about new movies tanking in theaters lately. comments focused on half hour of ads and trailers for upcoming movies, and the deafening sound level needing ear plugs. i would add stupid scripts too. we haven't had a subscription to Hulu for years but might sign up again because i want to see how Handmaids tale ends. i have little tolerance for ads and they are getting worse. nothing makes me turn off a movie faster. so here i am, the Primadonna. muting helps but we have fewer channels to avoid them.

Debora Cahn created the Diplomat. She worked on the old series The West Wing which I loved. There are some similarities with the dialogue style and the pacing of events.

Today was a sick day for me unfortunately. I had a stomach virus or food poisoning, not sure which, but I was feeling pretty rough most of the day. I’m just now starting to feel better.

Cathy-Great job with Killer Legs Barre Bonus and PP Upper Body.

Carolyn-Great job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga. The Diplomat sounds good. I'll have to check it out.

Valerie-Great job with your park walk.

Hi to Diane Sue

Yesterday I did CDorner Dance Hiit 41 minutes, 231 calories and Jessica Valant Pilates for osteoporosis and some of her posture work, 19 minutes, 45 calories. No workout today, Total time was 60 minutes, 276 calories. We had family Thanksgiving dinner at my house today. My granddaughter bought me a loaf of sourdough bread she made in the shape of a pumpkin with a cinnamon stick in the middle for the stem. I love her bread.

Cathy, nice work on Killer legs barre bonus and yesterday's PP Upper Body.

Carolyn, nice work on Jane Adams Gentle Yoga.

Judy, I am sorry you got sick. My son missed his daughter's baby shower after eating at Buffalo Wild Wings. He says he will never go there again.

Valerie, nice work on getting a walk at the park yesterday.

Today I did last weeks LIVE One dumbbell Total Body. You use a full range of weights, but only one at a time and everything is unilateral. Fun, different workout. I really want to see Wicked For Good and not wait till it hits streaming. It's been years since I went to the theater, but I found one in Battle Creek with a 9:15 a.m. showing and $4 tickets! I could go there on my way to my parents. Going to rewatch Wicked this weekend. It will be be my 5th time seeing it. LOL

Judy I'm sorry to hear you were sick yesterday. I hope you are feeling okay now.

Diane Sue that's a cute idea for bread.

just did therapy work yesterday but did a lot of it, at least 4x.

sorry to hear that judy. hope you are through the ordeal by now. when we started Diplomat, it seemed too fast and chaotic. we dropped it. stick with it. we agree with Caroline. its great. some series start with a "too busy" first episode .

I enjoyed that series ( very foul mouthed dialogue) about the wealthy media family with Brian Cox but it got switched to a different streaming location and we were not able to watch the last seasons. ticks me off to be left hanging like that. Succession.

i stopped making bread after my bread machine rusted out. now i have a KA mixer, a gift from our previous neighbor when they moved to Ireland. great for kneading bread dough. i used to do it by hand but tend to work in too much flour. with a machine, sticky doesn't matter. my bread turns out better. I'm planning to make some focaccia today. it wont be "cute" like the pumpkin shaped one but it will be good. my oven has a "keep warm" cycle that is great for letting bread rise. our house is not the right temp in winter. i never noticed it until i looked. the setting is too warm, but the temp can be decreased to 150. i haven't used it much yet but 170 was too hot.

raining again today so indoor something will happen.

Today I did LiTE Cardio Party, 39 minutes, 304 calories burned, average heart rate 141, and maximum heart rate 179.

Judy, I’m sorry that you are sick. I hope you feel better today.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Dance HiiT and Jessica Valant Pilates. The sourdough bread sounds delicious. What a clever idea to make it look like a pumpkin.

Cathy, great job with Live One Dumbbell Total Body.

Valerie, good job with your therapy exercises. Succession is a good series, foul language and all. It’s on HBO Max. I think that it’s also on Apple for a fee.

carolyn i loved west Wing.... at the time. pretty dated now. i didn't realize the same woman was involved. i remember Aaron sorkin's name linked to it, and also another series that didn't do too well. The Newsroom? or something like that. with Jeff Daniels? yes, dialogue is fast and furious in Diplomat too. this is one where subtitles are a help. nice but not "needed" like some British series.
we dont get HBO but do get Apple. we will look for it. I have no skill using the Apple TV device. arthritic thumbs. another one that moved somewhere was The Bear. we watched i think two seasons and then it went elsewhere. not my favorite but I like to finish things even if they arent the best thing I ever watched. Like Handmaids Tale. years since we saw it last.

I felt better today and was able to get back to normal. I did a 30-minute Peloton Full Body strength workout and got caught up on the things I couldn’t do yesterday.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Dance Hiit and the Jessica Valant workouts. I had eaten soup and a wrap from a local grocery store on Saturday and I’m pretty sure that was the problem. My husband ate something different and he didn’t get sick.

Cathy-Great job with LIVE One dumbbell Total Body. That one sounds like fun.

Valerie-Great job with your therapy work. Thanks for the tip on The Diplomat.

Carolyn-Great job with LiTE Cardio Party.

Today I did CDorner Step Aerobic #499 with little breakdown, 31 minutes, heart rate 122/147 heart rate, 2, 765 steps. I then did Caroline Jordon Upper Body no neck pain and osteoporosis upper body, 25 minutes, 87 calories. I ended with Caroline Jordan knee pain using yoga tune up balls and a block. My left knee has been really bothering me. It is the one I have had two surgeries on and lots of arthritis. This seemed to help along with Volteran and ice. This was 14 minutes. Total time 70 minutes, 297 calories. My dog thought the yoga tune up blue balls were his blue ball. He kept trying to get it out from under my knees.

Judy, I am glad to hear you are feeling better and was able to do the Peloton Full Body Strength workout. My son was so sick, and they almost went to the emergency room. My grandson went out and bought some meds and that helped some.

Carolyn, nice work on Lite Cardio Party today. My granddaughter always brings the bread looking pretty. Another time she had a design carved into the loaf and had put it in special bags for bread. She shared some starter with her sister when she came to visit.

Valerie, good job on getting a lot of pt work done. The KitchenAid mixer is great for kneading bread. I haven't kneaded bread by hand in years. I still have my bread machine. I do not use it much. I always heated up some water and would set a bowl of warm water in the oven with the bread to let it raise. My oven has a keep warm setting. I guess I never thought of using it for that, the last time I made bread dough was when my younger daughter came over and wanted to learn how to make the cinnamon rolls, I used to make when they were children. I sent the rolls home with her and kept two out of 32 rolls. I was afraid I would end up eating to many.

Cathy, good job on CL One Dumbbell Total Body workout. I really like doing the unilateral work.

my bread didn't turn out very well yesterday. i think the warm feature on the oven is too warm. diane sue, take notice!. you can warm the oven and then turn it off, then let the dough rise in there. if its on, even 150 degrees, its too warm IMO. my dough rose really well twice but the third time before baking it didn't rise at all. ended up with pretty chewy focaccia. ok flavor but not light. i will consider it bread for dunking in soup. if i turn on the warm cycle and then turn off with door shut that might work better. work in progress.
i did a big step( for me) yesterday and did a spin for 35 minutes but stood up numerous times. since i had the knee dislocation several years ago i have been afraid to stand when spinning. yesterday i did it. didn't stay standing very long but got up quite a few times to try to get my brain around the idea. it makes it harder and lets me turn up the resistance even if only briefly. I'm not sore today so will try to do that for longer and more often. several stretching sessions too.

i used to use the bread machine for kneading and finish it separately outside the machine. the KA is amazingly powerful. hope i didnt over knead it.

Was having a lot of glitches today. The web browser I use was down, and then I was told to sign in again on both OnDemand and Cathe Live, I have the password saved and I know it's right, but it just keeps telling me it's wrong. I can't sign in anywhere EXCEPT, the OnDemand app on my phone is working fine. It's so weird. I guess I'm going to have to reset with a new password on everything. I ended up having to go to DVD's and ended up doing Cardio & Weights step. Having some freezing drizzle today so I'm going to my parents on Friday instead.

Valerie that's great that your knee allowed you to stand up for brief periods. I haven't made bread in a very long time. Not since my bread maker died.

Judy I'm glad you are feeling better.

Diane Sue it's funny, but I'm sure frustrating that your dog thought the ball was his. My cats get in the way, but at least they don't try to steal equipment, other than laying on my mats.

Hi Carolyn.

Today I decided P 30 Perfect Pump Upper Body,37 minutes, 118 calories burned, average heart rate 110, and maximum heart rate 131.

Judy, I’m glad that you are feeling better. Nice job with Peloton Full Body Strength.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Step Aerobics and Caroline Jordan upper body and knee pain workouts.

Valerie, great job with spinning and standing for part of the time. When I proof dough in the oven I turn it on to the lowest temperature (170 on my oven) and set the timer for 1 minute. After one minute I turn the oven off. I do this just as I finish shaping my dough then I let it rise in the oven for part of the time. I remove the dough from the oven and let it finish rising on the counter while I preheat the oven for baking. I learned this method from the woman who leads the Zojirushi Bread Machine group on Facebook. She uses it all the time and it works very well for me.

Cathy, I’m sorry that you had technical issues today with your workout. Good job switching to a dvd.

Carolyn that is what i will do on future breads. our house is too cool to reliably raise yeast dough. the wood stove area can be too hot. 170 on the oven was too hot . i plan on heating it like you said then turning it off. when its set on"bake" the fans cool it off as soon as its turned off, but on "warm" the exhaust fans dont come on and it stays warm . i was surprised but my oven can be set to 150 although the preset is 170. i made cinnamon rolls not too long ago but i think i could let them rise near the wood stove. that was the plan yesterday but they refused to rise the third time for unknown reasons. its extremely variable what the temp might be. im thinking the oven was too warm? but i had to pull the dough to preheat it. Cinnamon rolls call to me so I bake them, separate, and freeze. DH can take one at a time out to defrost and enjoy. i love those darn things and would eat way too many if they were easily available

two medical appts today that both went well. i am getting sick of seeing doctors! i will be seeing PT for a while for sure.

Today I did LMR Functional Barre Fusion and a 10-minute Peloton stretch. I’m thinking about doing an LMR rotation for a couple of weeks. I feel like I need a break from heavier weights and Peloton rides. My hip and low back have been bothering me lately and I don’t want to have to go back to the orthopedic doctor again if I can avoid it.

Diane Sue- Great job with CDorner Step Aerobics and the Caroline Jordan workouts.

Valerie- Great job with the spinning.

Cathy- Great job with Cardio & Weights step. That’s frustrating about your password.

Carolyn- Great job with P 30 Perfect Pump Upper Body.

Today I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout one. That was 26 minutes, 186 calories burned, average heart rate 135 and maximum heart rate 155.

Judy, nice job with LMR Functional Barre Fusion and Peloton stretch. Switching up your workouts for a while is a good idea.

Hello to Valerie, Cathy, and Diane Sue.

Did PT appt early this morning and then loaded bikes and went mt biking. 90 minutes. at our regular place but tried a different route. not as good as our regular one. every year the road access changes related to where they are logging out the trees.

do any of you have foam roller type devices? im looking for something without a motor. the motor causes interference with my pacer so i cant use that kind. im going to try a foam roller that is softer foam than the high density one that just plain hurts to use. there are a million roller devices available. Thanks for any input or ideas.
