Pentagenarians & Beyond: March 22, 2026

This morning I did ICE Low Impact Sweat, workout one, 28 minutes, 131 calories burned, average heart rate 113, and maximum heart rate 140.

Valerie, I’m glad that your appointment went well and that you can continue to walk and ride.

Hello to Diane Sue, Judy, and Cathy.

we did a park walk this morning taking a little longer to do it. mostly there were lots of water birds to look at so it took us an extra 10 minutes. i am not sore at all and not swollen either. she warned me i might swell some in a couple days when I think its all over with. i have to be careful eating because there is a dressing over both sides of the gum that looks like a patch of chewed gum. really! it should stay on for several days to a week if possible. I am so relieved. I was afraid this might be much more unpleasant. Eating takes a while to be careful to keep food out of that half of my mouth.
so 1 hr 25 minutes of hiking.

Tuesday I did a 30-minute Peloton ride and 30 minutes of stretching. Wednesday and Thursday were rest days and today I did a 30-minute Peloton ride and 20 minutes of Restorative Yoga. My shoulder has been bothering me again so I’ve had to back off of weights for a few days. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back to strength work next week.

Cathy-Great job with STS2 Body Parts Biceps, Live Lift it Hiit it Low Impact, Restorative Yoga and STS2 Body Parts Legs.

Valerie-Great job with the mountain biking, therapy work, stacked upper body, spinning and walking. I’m glad your dental appointment went well. I ended up cancelling the Peacock streaming. The commercials were just too much.

Diane Sue-Great job with band workout with Lauren, Gloved Up and Sweaty, LMR 2 Anytime Mobility, the elliptical and LMR Elevated Lower Body. I hope your husband can get an MRI soon.

Carolyn-Great job with Stacked Sets Upper Body, KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout one, P 30 Perfect Pump Upper Body and the Extended Stretch and ICE Low Impact Sweat, workout one. I’m sorry the Sprouts closest to you doesn’t have the things you need. That would be frustrating.

Not sure how I got so behind! LOL Thursday I did LMR Cardio x2 before I shopped. That is a good workout if you repeat it all and just add a warm up and stretch. Yesterday I did STS2 Body Parts Chest and today I did LMR Kickbox Fusion and STS2 Body Parts Triceps. Wishing it wasn't so cold today as I'm spending the afternoon outside. It is sunny which will be a plus.

Diane Sue you are right that swimming really doesn't help bone density at all, just cardio. I could never do more than 20 minutes on the elliptical, stair climber or treadmill, because I just get bored.

Valerie I'm glad your DH is happy with the results from his surgery and that your appointment went well.

Carolyn when you shop on line can you add comments to items. I know that I'd be adding comments on produce especially.

Judy I hope your shoulder is better soon. Shoulders get used for so many things.

Now dh is complaining about blurriness and feeling like he has something in one eye. it helps when he uses eye drops which is what i keep telling him to do its a surgery, and it takes a few weeks for most people to get readjusted to it. im bothered by dry eyes, was before the surgery and also after. a lot of medications make it worse so I work hard at not using any of them. he takes a lot of BP meds which may be a factor for him.
im doing fine and no swelling or significant discomfort. its hard to remember to chew on one side only, and tooth brushing is a cautious process.

bike riding isnt supposed to help with bone density either. i still do it. we ride hard and fast. IMO its as good and there is plenty of standing, walking and lifting involved . you could ride with no effort or go electric but we dont do it that way . swimming is not supposed to be a good calorie burner either. mostly i plain dislike swimming and use every possible excuse to avoid it.

having more phone issues. cousin called us thursday. we got his voice mail saturday. no clue why. i have wanted to take phones to apple genius bar and get this sorted out because something is set wrong somewhere, but DH wont go and without his phone, its pointless. grrr...

judy hope your shoulder settles down. i avoid moves that make anything hurt. one thing that helped me is to learn not to hike up my left shoulder, it was a bad habit and helped when i stopped.
