Pentagenarians & Beyond: June 15, 2025

Today I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout two for 29 minutes and 199 calories burned. My average heart rate was 134 and maximum heart rate was 149.

Valerie, nice job with your usual ride. You and your husband are certainly having to juggle a lot of things.

Cathy, nice job with the zoo walk, your barre combo from XTrain and LBB, and Restorative Yoga.

Judy, great job with Max Out Row, Muscle Meltdown Biceps, and walking. Max Out Row sounds like a challenge.

Shannon, great job with After Burn. We have a lot of trees on our lot, but these had to go for safety reasons.

Diane Sue, I hope that your appointment went well today.

Good morning, ladies. I did my flow/balance yoga on my own. It was pretty good, but I still prefer a good, solid cardio or weight workout. But I’m going to stick with this! Going from Lord of the Dance to Half Moon and back up is quite a challenge. I didn’t quite make it, but I will get there, LOL.

Cathy – I didn’t even know XTrain had barre. Your workout sounds like an interesting combo though. Have fun at the South Bend zoo tomorrow. Your cats are real characters, for sure. I’m glad the zoo fixed that path. Having three disabled men in the family, I know how important it is to have places be handicapped accessible.

Judy – Did you take your walk outside or on a treadmill? I hope you enjoyed the nice weather and didn’t get any damage from the storms.

Valerie – I was already pretty sure I’d never want to go to Florida, but reading your description, I’m positive, LOL. I worked with a lady who used to live in the Orlando area, and she said it was hideous. She said alligators were everywhere, and they’d actually crawl under people’s cars. No way, just no freaking way. A game preserve manager sounds like a very cool job. There is a huge range of climate in Africa, from the Sahara Desert to mountains and tropical regions. So yes, Uganda is probably quite different from Malawi. I’ll have to see where in Africa it’s located.

Carolyn – Nice work with Cardio Quick Fix. I totally understand removing trees for safety reasons. I’ve had to remove two because of that. I didn’t want to, but I wanted really wanted to keep my roof intact.

Hello to Diane. I hope your procedure went well and that you are feeling better.

Today I did part of LMR Barre Fusion. My time was 35 minutes, 129 calories burned, average heart rate 113, and maximum heart rate 148.

Shannon, nice job with your own flow/balance yoga.

Waving hello to all. Have a great day.

Today I did CDorner Step Aerobics Cher, (really slow paced) 32 minutes, heart rate 118/154, 172 calories, 118/154 heartrate. Followed by Cardio Balance 18 minutes, heart rate 141/185(this cannot be right as I looked when it was 172 and I was just standing warm up tapping my foot and not breathing hard or anything. My battery was low so maybe that was it. Total time was 50 minutes, 290 calories, 3,440steps.
The procedure went well although I did not get the conscious sleep as insurance does not cover that for the injections. They did the anesthetic or whatever the liquid was to numb a bit then the pricks around the areas before each injection. I was sore last night and when I woke, but it seems to have all let up and feels much better. I had a lot of bandages to get off my back. I still felt it when they hit those areas that are causing the problem. They said that was a good sign that they were in the right place. They use guidance with a screen. He said if it does not help, he can do a nerve block. Showed me spine pictures before we started. oh, and the doctor said that I can go back to exercising and doing whatever I want. I am still being cautious. It has been 3 and a half weeks. Most medical centers say 4 to 6 weeks.

Carolyn, nice work on LMR Barre Fusion today.

Shannon, nice work on your own balance/ flow workout. CDorner does some balance and flow more active mobility/yoga workouts. I have a set of yoga workouts called budokon with Cameron Shayne that I used to do. They had some martial arts moves blended with yoga and some complicated moves like getting into a crow, balance on one side with legs extended off the floor and back up. Almost like a dance. It is a bit weird. I liked the martial arts blend and ending with a bit of martial arts. No way I could do that now. I was in my 50's then. Are you going on a medical mission? My daughter that is a PA used to go to Haiti and work with the medical staff mid-summer. My other went and helped with other things like painting buildings. Funny thing I remember is they gave them chickens so they could have eggs for food and they ate the chickens.

Judy, nice job on the 20 minute walk. It is not raining here today, but is muggy and 90 degrees.

Valerie, sorry they had to move your husband's dental appointment. I looked at the lumbar brace that you mentioned. It is 29.95 so 30 dollars. Not a bad price. It looks more comfortable than some of them. I have a Tommy Copper Posture shirt and it is hard to get off and on and I have it on an hour or so and I am ready to get it off. It seemed it made my back hurt worse.

Cathy, good job on the barre combo from XTrain and LBB and Restorative Yoga.

We did another ride this morning. an hour and 15 minutes 15 miles. we might do a walk again as the brace is helping. he's off at the dentist this afternoon. there's this ripple effect where if one appt gets changed, everything downhill from that needs to change too.

shannon we went to florida for meetings more than once maybe 3-4 times? . miami area and orlando. there were days that things were better but mostly it was too hot and humid. i dont remember any alligators but we were staying at big fairly fancy hotels like Marriot so they probably patrolled the grounds for them! went to epcot and disneyworld on our days off, and down to the Keys. not my idea of a good vacation spot. i only last 10 minutes sitting in the sun drinking margaritas at the pool.

diane sue there are about 1000 brace options to pick from . i wanted " simple" went on/off easily. on/off in 2 seconds. $30 one does not have a metal stay in the back. you could order several, try on and return it if its not what you want. pharmacies here dont carry anything so i cant go local. lumbar braces wrap exactly right for me. if im doing a harder walk it helps.
i had a series of those shots without any anesthesia. they didnt help long. 2-3days? i would not have had back surgery if they helped. hopefully you can get by with lesser procedures.

Today I felt like doing a little more than active rest so I did a 20-minute Max Out Row and STS 2.0 Express Premix- Body Parts Triceps No Repeats.

Carolyn- Great job with KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout two and LMR Barre Fusion.

Shannon-Great job with your flow/balance yoga. My walk yesterday was on the treadmill due to rain. We didn’t have any damage from the storms but there was a lot of rain yesterday and last night.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner Step Aerobics and Cardio Balance. I’m glad your procedure went well. I hope it helps. That’s good that they said you can go back to exercising, but I agree with being cautious too. 4-6 weeks sounds right to me.

Valerie- Great job with your ride. I’m sorry that your husband’s dental appointment got moved.

Hi to Cathy
