Pentagenarians & Beyond: July 5, 2026

Good morning again. I hope that everyone had a nice day yesterday and that you are enjoying the holiday weekend. I’m having a quiet weekend and staying indoors as much as possible. Yesterday was a rest day and today I did Jane Adams yoga for 18 minutes.

Cathy, great job with Cardio and Weights combos and Live Built to Burn Upper Body.

Valerie, hopefully the fireworks were not too bad around you.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

good morning. the fireworks were awful as expected. no good surprises. we both took sleeping meds, ear plugs and got thru it. this is not a beautiful display, just brain numbing noise.

we rode the trail this morning for 15 miles and 1 hr 15 minutes. weather is very pleasant , 70 ish and not humid . yesterday i did a little walking, to get our trail cams picked up and then replaced. we were not surprised to see a million shots of deer with their twin fawns but we also got a cougar again. i guess they walk thru here more often than we ever imagined.

We lost power Friday afternoon due to the severe storms that came through. It was back on late last night, earlier than we expected. We were prepared for this to be a multiday event since so many people lost power here. I did some strength training on my own yesterday. Today is a rest day.

Carolyn-Great job with Jane Adams yoga.

Cathy-Great job with Cardio and Weights combos and Live Built to Burn Upper Body. Fortunately, we didn’t have any damage near our home other than the power being out. There were over 300,000 without power in the metro Detroit area.

Valerie-I’m really sorry about the fireworks issues there. Great job with your ride.

Hi to Diane Sue

This morning I did P30 Low Impact HiiT and the Extended Stretch. That was 36 minutes, 160 calories burned, average heart rate 116, and maximum heart rate 139.

Valerie, I’m glad that you were able to do your trail ride.

Judy, I’m glad that the power outage didn’t last as long as anticipated.

Hello to Cathy and Diane Sue.

Yesterday I did Live Get Looped Lower Body, and this morning I did Live Cardio, Kicks, Jabs and bags. I wish the descriptions on my Roku app included that there is a slow leg section in the middle, just not a fan. Then I did Live Paired Upper body which I liked. My Dad has an appointment tomorrow afternoon, so I’m doing the zoo and then going there and I’ll stay with my mom. He leaves her when he shops, but he’s not comfortable with it. Last time I did it she slept most of the time he’s gone.

Valerie sorry about the fireworks. We didn’t have anything out here, at least nothing I heard. Does the cougar just stroll on through?

Judy it’s always a plus when the power comes back early. Glad you didn’t have any damage.

Hi Carolyn and Diane Sue.

Judy its always nice when things come back on sooner than expected. must be rough without the AC.

Cathy we have never seen the cougar, only on the camera. some neighbors have seen him but rarely. he and the other animals go up and down the old road, an unofficial connecting route between paved roads. there are green belts around most of the development including a steep cliffy area above the river. we set up both trail cameras, one near the top of our lot and one halfway down. we left most of the trees and brush so its wilder than many other lots. we had no desire for acres of grass to mow! we tried cameras in other places but never got anything. this is the animal highway! all the cats use it as do the deer, otters, raccoons, rabbits, coyotes, bobcats, the bear. on camera we see them sniffing and following the pathway. they travel without being in the open usually at night. we can 4WD a vehicle up and down it but its not really much of a road anymore. i walk up and down it when i am using our lot for exercise. there is quite big drop in elevation so its work if i do it several times.

today we did a park walk early for 1 hr 15 minutes. there are some marshy spots and the mosquitos are out so we went fast!

Last night was way less disruptive. i do not see what thrill people get out of making noisy explosions. there was some last night but not for long.
