Pentagenarians & Beyond: January 4, 2026

Good morning again. Today I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga for 18 minutes.

Judy, great job with 30 minutes of Peloton rides, PT work, and Peloton strength. It’s nice that your sister-in-law is considering moving back to the area.

Valerie, nice job with mountain biking around your neighborhood and therapy exercises.

Cathy, I saw that you posted on last week’s thread this morning. Great job with Low Impact Sweat 2 and LMR Yoga Fusion.

Hello to Diane Sue.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Rest day today. Yesterday I did Senior Shape with Lauren Christmas Cardio 20 minutes and a Dance and Cardio Kickboxing workout 24 minutes, total 44 minutes, 296 calories, heart rate134/161 and followed it with her Chair yoga for Upper Body, strength, mobility, stretch 20 minutes, 45 calories. This did not seem like yoga since she did light weight upper body moves, I really did not need and ended with some stretches. Total time 64 minutes, 341 calories. I liked the cardio workouts that I did.

Oops on yesterday. Just finished LMR Functional Total Body. Flopsy decided to spend the night licking open sores, and while that alone would be bad, she's white and it looks like someone tried to kill her. So, she's going to the vets tomorrow morning. She sleeps a lot during the day, so I'm hoping that may help some. Today I have to go pickup my reading glasses that have been ready for 3 weeks, fortunately I don't really need them, but it'll be nice to make the store bought ones my backups.

Yesterday I did 77 minutes of Peloton rides, 30 minutes was a Power Zone ride and 47 minutes was watching YouTube. Today I had a PT appointment and did some PT work at home too.

Carolyn-Great job with Jane Adams Gentle Yoga. It is nice that they are thinking about moving back. The last time they were here, in 2024, they mentioned the idea in passing but didn’t seem too serious. Now they seem more serious about it.

Valerie-Great job with the therapy stretching. Yes, it is nice to have family close by.

Diane Sue-Great job with the Senior Shape workouts.

Cathy-Great job with Low Impact Sweat 2, LMR Yoga Fusion and LMR Functional Total Body. I hope Flopsy is ok.

I didn’t get to work out today. I‘m not totally in control of my morning schedule these days and sometimes things interfere with my workouts. The aide who helps my husband in the morning arrived later and that made a difference in what I could do.

Valerie, good job doing yard work and therapy.

Diane Sue, nice job Senior Shape Cardio Kickboxing and Chair Yoga for Upper Body.

Cathy, nice job with LMR Total Body. I’m sorry that your cat is injured.

Judy, great job with 77 minutes of Peloton rides and PT work.

we did our local park hike/walk for 1 hr 20 minutes today. two rounds of therapy later. more well wishes for Flopsy. we weren't sure about going this morning. the forecast was good, but we woke up to rain. then it mostly stopped later on so we went anyway. DH mis getting a check for cataract surgery. he had some significant changes quickly so we are hoping he can get on the surgery schedule quickly. its a series of small brief appts for each eye so we want to get this done during the winter doldrums.

Today I did Senior Shape with Lauren Intermediate Weight Training Workout with one 10 pound dumbbell, 41 minutes, 142 calories, heart rate 96/134 followed by 10 minute osteoporosis friendly ab workout, 25 calories, and finished with her mobility stretch, 11 minutes, 24 calories. Total time was 62 minutes, 191 calories. I used what Lauren used but think I could have went a bit heavier. It was done in 2 combos of moves done twice then moved to another combo. It was osteoporosis friendly no twisting or rounding.

Cathy, nice work on LMR Total Body. I hope Flopsy is okay.

Judy, nice work on yesterday's 77 minutes of Peloton rides and today's PT work.

Carolyn, it gets difficult to plan when things beyond control change things.

Valerie, good job on the park walk today and PT work. We are going for my husband an exam for cataract surgery Friday. They said he needed someone to drive him home and it would take 2 hours. I guess they are just checking as he was referred by our optometrist. They said new glasses was not going to help. I think I am not enjoying the aging part of our lives.

diane sue this sounds like exact thing we are doing friday. almost everyone who wants to see clearly needs cataract surgery if they live long enough. my DH has the preliminary exam/set up for surgery. he is gradually having issues seeing writing on the TV screen and other small things that i see easily. he is younger than i am ( a few years) but a lot of factors are involved. depends on where the cloudiness develops in your eye, sun exposure, medications you've taken, genetics etc. . usually your eyes get dilated for the exam making it hard to see to drive. yes, getting old is a PITA sometimes! I remember I had to set up a series of small brief appointments at that first appt for each eye. take your calendar along since you will likely need to drive on several of them. someone needs to drive after the surgery and i believe you go back for a recheck the next day or two and should have a driver then too. at least thats how clinics do it here. my DH did not have any thing significant last year but now its bothersome to him. its noticeable to him because i can see better than he can .

i did therapy x2 and stacked upper body. cathy hope your vet trip with Flopsy went ok.

Today I did another Lauren workout Cardio Combinations Hiit, 34 minutes, 203 calories, heart rate 124/161 and Gentle Pilates Stretch//morning exercises 17 minutes, 38 calories. I had to modify some stretch movements like cat/cow on this one. I was rushed today since I had to make a run to the vet's office for Harvey's flea and tick medicine before I got started on my morning routine. Total time was 47 minutes, 241 calories.

Valerie, I hope things go well as my husband never could hold his eyes open when they would put the puff of air in his eye. He has never taken any meds other than antibiotics when he had pneumonia once and strep. I will probably have to have cataract surgery eventually. I have one forming, but it is not enough for that yet. They noticed that the bottom right letter always is the one letter I cannot get on the charts. I usually in guessing between 2 letters. Unfortunately, the eye doctor is like going to my arthritis appointments and takes me an hour or more driving on the streets rather than the highway. I don't know why my optometrist chose someone that far away.

Carolyn, nice job on LMR Upper Body today.
