Today I did 4DS High Intensity Step, Pyramid Pump Upper Body and the SB Extended Stretch. We are about to get hit with a polar vortex. It's been years since the last one and it was really nasty.

Judy I very much remember that winter. I have always referred to it as the winter from hell. I was working at the school then and making a trip to get the boys there and then home and back for work, and we ended up with so many days off, that we blew past what the state allowed and our last day was Derek's bday June 18th. He was not happy. LOL Our winter break got extended on both ends and ended up being an extra week. Then in January because of days off they had to reschedule HS exams, which messed up the start of the second semester. It was really insane. They've changed the laws since, so that schools can ask for exemptions if they go over.

we did a park walk this morning 1 hr 10 minutes. then we came home and worked outside on the roof of our wood shed. replacing the shingles. its a lot of work up and down the ladder carrying a lot of tools and supplies. our cat was running up the close- by cedars so he could look at us up on the shed roof. later when we were finishing up we heard him meowing but could'not find him. after walking around and back and forth i located him about 25 feet up a cedar tree seemingly stuck. the rest of the afternoon we cleaned up after our project and kept going over to the tree and trying to get him to come down. these trees are evergreen and a lot of them grow close together so it was not easy to locate him. lots of interlacing long drooping branches and the trees are at least 100 feet tall. DH never did see him.. finally after dinner i went out a last time to coax him down and this time he got off the limb and backed right down the truck. slowly but ok. he almost spent the night in the tree. i didnt want that because I know I would not sleep worrying about him.

Today I did JS HiiT Walk, 30 minutes, 228 calories burned, average heart rate 140, and maximum heart rate 173.

Cathy, great job with 4DS High Intensity Step, Pyramid Pump Upper Body, and SB Extended Stretch.

Valerie, great job with the park walk and that hard work replacing the shingles on your wood shed. I’m glad that your cat finally came down from the tree.

Hello to Judy and Diane Sue.

Ended up doing Restorative yoga this morning. We are just getting started with our cold period. Currently feels like -12. Lots of hungry birds today. Hawk swooped through once earlier, but haven't seen it again. Yesterday it got a small bird, we both used binoculars to see what it was, but it was small and not colorful, so likely a sparrow or finch. Wouldn't have been much more than a snack.

Valerie I'm glad that your cat got back down. I've never seen any of ours more than about 12' up, and they can get down from that. Generally, they are following a chipmunk and forget their limitations.

Yesterday I did a 30-minute Peloton ride and 45 minutes of Yin Yoga. Today I did a 60-minute Peloton ride. Riding at an easy pace doesn’t bother my hip/sciatic issue fortunately. We did a grocery run yesterday and plan on staying home most of the week due to the weather. It is so cold and going to get worse. I’ve got a few organizing/decluttering projects to keep me busy and my husband has some electronics projects that he is working on.

Carolyn-Great job with yoga/mobility and JS HiiT Walk.

Cathy-Great job with 4DS High Intensity Step, Pyramid Pump Upper Body, SB Extended Stretch and Restorative Yoga. That was a rough winter. It’s good that they changed the laws for schools as I’m sure there will be a lot more snow days this year too.

Valerie-Great job with your park walk. I’m glad your cat came down from the tree.

it was so funny watching Puss yesterday. he would run up a cedar tree, 4 feet diameter, and then jump off or run back down. he ran up the trees right where we were working, got high enough to see us, then ran back down. . the tree he got stuck in was only 10 or 12 feet away. all ended well but he is slightly more subdued today. proud of the job we did on the shed. its a old home-built project. we bui;t two sheds and a wood shed. this is a . a 3 sided open structure. we replaced half the roof with left over shingles from our house and it looks good.

i do remember how hard it was to keep cars running ok when it got very cold. everything would get stiff and immobile. the shifter wouldn't work, the door locks froze, the seats got as hard as boards. even the brake and clutch froze sometimes pulled down to the floor. of course the batteries died. we used engine block heaters. they were hesitant to call snow days because there were few ways to contact people then. it was not enjoyable. I used to work graveyards. used to go out at least twice during the night to start and run the car because it was parked outside and if it didnt run all night, it would never start in the morning. stay safe!

Today I did Live Box and Burn, which was good, but I would really put it in the kickboxing category, as there was a lot of kicking. Then I did PP Lower Body.

Funny you were talking about your cat up the tree Valerie. This morning, Tux was stalking a squirrel. For a cat who is such a crazy, zoomy brat, he's has amazing patience while stalking. He was just watching for over 5 minutes, when he finally made his move, he chased it up the tree. The squirrel being much lighter and more agile, didn't take long to get to the tree line going tree to tree. Tux went up about 6-8'. He comes down butt first a bit, then turns and goes down head first.

Definitely not doing my usual Tuesday visit to my parents. It's just cold here, and it's been sunny all morning, but they are in that fun lake effect area. Looks like I could go down Saturday. It'll be cold, but they shouldn't have any snow the day before and the roads should be okay. There was an estimated 100 car/semi pile up on I96 yesterday. I would think that made national news. Going to start the Prius today. I don't know how the battery is in it. My cars battery is fine, but I don't want to take any chances.

Valerie we had to listen to the radio for school closings when I was a kid. Back then we would sometimes go to school, and then got sent home early if it was getting bad. But a lot of schools now have 2 starting/ending times and send their buses out twice, so it's harder to pull that off. The school here runs 6-12 and then K-5 bus routes.

Judy glad you are set up to stay in this week. I should be able to go shop Thursday or Friday. I can deal with the cold, it's the snow that keeps me home.

Hi Diane Sue and Carolyn.

Today I did P 30 Perfect Pump Lower Body, 35 minutes, 95 calories burned, average heart rate 103, and maximum heart rate 120.

Cathy, great job with Restorative Yoga, Live Box and Burn, and PP Lower Body. I saw the news stories about that 100+ car pike up in Michigan. That was terrible.

Judy, great job with the Peloton ride and Yin Yoga. Staying inside out of the weather sounds like a great idea.

Hello to Valerie and Diane Sue.

I did a yard walk yesterday plus therapy x2.

yes we heard about the 100 car mash up too. nice to go national, huh?

Puss came from California. definitely not happy with freezing temps. he has been outside for a few minutes, but it was 30-ish this morning and he hurried back inside when i arrived back from costco. DH had to go early for a blood draw and Puss was sitting on my lap. he heard our car before it got to our driveway. he sat up and faced the garage like a pointer and let me know DH was arriving back home. Does not do that for the rest of the cars going by. maybe he's always done that but this the first time I noticed. a lot of times he is waiting by the garage when we get home. i didnt realize he could tell from so far away. so yes..... my cat is a genius!! yes they need to back down tree trunks slowly and cant turn around until its a safe distance to jump. our guy climbs up everything i don't know why it took so long for him to figure it out the other day.

its usually mild temps here so car batteries last a long time and its easy to forget about them being a problem. we garage our cars which helps.

I think we got school closure notices on radio or TV but my parents never had them on. i had to take a city bus or walk. I dont remember many snow days back then. places that are used to snow are better prepared and dont get in a mess like Seattle area always does. seattle has bigger hills and snow is not usual here.

Today I did a 30-minute Peloton Ride, 30 minutes of Peloton Arms & Shoulders and 45 minutes of Restorative Yoga.

Cathy-Great job with Live Box and Burn, and PP Lower Body. That 100 car pile up was crazy. I hope you can get to your parents on Saturday.

Carolyn-Great job with P 30 Perfect Pump Lower Body.

Valerie-Great job with your yard walk and therapy work.

Hi to Diane Sue

No workout Sunday and Monday. We had a photographer here Monday for our house listing and Sunday was family dinner and taking some things to storage to declutter. I gave my 3 weighted vests to my daughter in law. I put my pull up/ push up bar on the curb with the rebounder for big trash day and someone took them before the truck came through. It is kind of hard to get rid of some of my fitness stuff. Those vests always did cause some neck pain and upper back discomfort. We took my dog with us for a trial ride in the car and then again yesterday while they took pictures of our house. We had to pick him up and put him in the car. I think he weighs close to 70 or 80 lbs. The second time went better and he calmed down after a while, but all the anxiety must have upset his tummy. I am glad I bought the car seat cover for dog travel. We put him in the back and put the seat down. We stopped for food and somewhere along the way he got sick. Luckily the cover for the seat that I laid out repelled the mess so I was able to clean it up. Hopefully we do better next time we have to go out for someone coming to look at our house. We bought some food and gave him some. First time I have had him get sick. We were out riding around and hung at the park for 2 hours.
Today I did CDorner high or low impact all standing aerobics, 31 minutes, heart rate 136/162, 212 calories, 4,003 steps. I then did Lauren Senior Shape Strength Training Isometric and balance,41 minutes, 130 calories, heart rate 90/129. Total time spent 72 minutes, 342 calories.

Cathy, good job on the Live Box and Burn workout and PP Lower Body. I saw that pile up on the news. What a mess. Pets are fun to watch sometimes.

Carolyn, nice work on P30 Perfect Pump Lower Body.

Valerie, good job on the walk and PT work X2. That is cute that your cat knows when you are arriving.

Judy, nice work on the 30 minute Peloton ride, 30 minutes of Peloton arms and shoulders, and Restorative Yoga.

Today I did KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout one, 26 minutes, 190 calories burned, average heart rate 139, and maximum heart rate 161. We will probably get hit by the winter storm this weekend.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Low Impact Aerobics and Senior Shape Strength Training. It is hard getting rid of fitness equipment. I’m not surprised that someone picked it up from the side of the street.

Valerie, nice job with your yard walk and therapy.

Judy, great job with the Peloton ride, Peloton Arms and Shoulders, and Restorative Yoga.

Hello to Cathy.

we did what we thought would be a snowshoe but more of a hike. 3.5 hours. its a forest service road to an old fire lookout. supposedly the mileage was not much but it took a long time. we think the mileage was wrong. the drive was long and slow. finally got to the snowline but the snow was icy and crusty and full of deep holes where [people had walked when temps were warmer but refroze into what are affectionately called ankle breakers. it was a whole lot of work because walking was so terrible. we got to the lookout took some pics and sat in the sun ate a cookie or two. it was quite warm in the sun but much colder down lower. we brought snowshoes but snow was so crummy we didn't think they would be usable. if you've never done it before , snowshoes are not so easy to walk on in bad snow conditions. we left them in the car. we walked a ways, and then put on micro spikes for traction. they worked well but it still was hard. sometimes you would stay on top of the snow, other times break thru. i don't remember a year with so little snow. lot of precipitation but not much snow at elevations we can get to.

diane sue that must be hard getting rid of gear. i found it hard to toss some DVD's that i haven't used in 15 years and never liked much . very hard to admit you cant or wont use them anymore. so far we have avoided doing that. we have a chain stores here called "Play it Again Sports" that buys equipment and re-sells used things. they are exclusively used equipment if its something they think will sell again. they do indoor and outdoor sports. i dont know if that is available in your area? i dont expect to get any money for things but it kills me to toss functional things in the trash. the Goodwill here usually doesnt take sports gear. our neighborhood has an HOA with a private facebook page. people have been successful selling things to neighbors using it. i have a huge problem with putting an ad on "Craigs list " and going to meet people. no way am i bringing them to my house.

No workout for me today. I didn’t have enough time and my wrist is really bothering me. It was getting better and I made some awkward movement this morning which caused a setback. I tried a brace, but that doesn’t seem to help. Oh well, I will give it more time.

Have a nice day everyone.

No workout yesterday as I had under 4 hours sleep. Today I did SB IMAX4 Combos + blizzard blast. No shopping for me. DH shoveled out the drive and went to the closest Meijer. We have enough stuff now for a few days. Roads around Lansing were really bad this morning, and school out here was closed. Most of the schools in the state will likely be closed tomorrow due to windchills. And dang Fort Worth is getting ice/snow and Sunday a.m. could have windchills of -10. People there are just not prepared for that level of temps. Of course he works overnights the next 3 nights, but like he said fewer people on the road and it should be okay till after he's home in the morning. Poor Derek is getting the worst of it working outside all day. ND is getting crazy cold.

Diane Sue you are possibly getting some significant snow aren't you?

Valerie everywhere else is getting your snow! We've had more at this point, than we did all last winter and we aren't even in the major snow area. I hate to throw functional things away, too. Usually I can find some where for them to go, but somethings are hard. We have those used sports stores here, too.

Carolyn are you getting snow there or just the nasty cold?

Judy I probably won't get to my parents for awhile. They are getting a lot more snow than we are. We had a couple more inches overnight and they had 6 more. My sister did a food order for them, so they won't need to get out. They really want to but my Dad can't even clean that much snow off the ramp. Stay warm.

Yesterday was a rest day. Today I did a 45-minute Peloton ride, 20 minutes of Peloton Upper Body strength and 30 minutes of Restorative Yoga. We did a quick grocery run this afternoon and will be set for the weekend. It looks like we could get 6 inches of snow Sunday.

Diane Sue-Great job with CDorner high or low impact all standing aerobics and Lauren Senior Shape Strength Training Isometric and balance. I’ve gotten rid of a few things I no longer use.

Valerie-Great job with your hike. I bought a step, the original STS tower and a Garmin watch on Craigslist. This was back in 2012-2013 and for the step and Garmin we arranged to meet the sellers at a Meijer store. The original STS tower was being sold by someone my husband knew from work, just a coincidence, so we went to their house and picked it up. I don't think I would use Craigslist now though.

Carolyn-Great job with KCM’s Cardio Quick Fix, workout one. I’m really sorry about your wrist. I hope it feels better soon.

Cathy-Great job with SB IMAX4 Combos + blizzard blast. I saw that there was lake effect snow west of here today. We aren’t going anywhere until Sunday or Monday if we can help it. You stay warm too.

you are 100% right cathy. our snow pack is pathetic! usually there is plenty of snow to ski by thanksgiving, or shortly after. we had a lot of rain but it melted off what little snow there was and it has not been replenished. some years are very difficult but so far this one is too mild. temps are down now, freezing here every night for a week but no moisture. we often dont get snow dowen low where most of us live but the mountains pile up many feet. they tell us that snow pack up high is better but not at elevations most of us can get to.

Today I’m just doing some walking and light stretching. Our weather forecast is for a prolonged ice event starting Saturday night into Sunday. I’m pretty sure that we will lose power at some point. Ice storms are the worse!!

Cathy, great job with SB IMAX Combos and Blizzard Blasts.

Judy, great job with Peloton ride, Peloton Upper Body Strength, and Restorative yoga.

Hello to Valerie and Diane Sue.

This morning I did Live Metabolic Mix Up. It's calm and sunny here today, but cold. Currently 0.

Judy we are only supposed to get 1-3" on Sunday. Hoping for the 1! Stay warm!

Carolyn ice storms are so scary. I hope you keep power.
