Pentagenarians & Beyond: 03/23/2025

Today I did STS 2 Mobility 1. I'm trying to set up a new rotation, because without one, I don't do hard things. LOL I created a list of upper body workouts yesterday, and need to do lower body today. I'm going through the live workouts, so I'll have things that are new to me, with a few exceptions. Going to set it up to run up till a few days before my trip.

Diane Sue, I hope Harvey settles in soon. Getting new animals who have been abused acclimated can be a bumpy process, so hopefully he realizes soon that he's now safe.

Shannon I'd like to think that they will find homes for the kittens, but the sense I'm getting it that they are both getting attached. Yesterday he said that they got a scale so they can way them. Which is both smart, and an additional investment of their emotions. They will only be about 8 weeks when I get there, so I'll definitely get to see them all.

Today I did a 20-minute interval row and am getting ready for work.

I’d like to ask for someone else to start the weekly threads for a while. I might not be posting as much with all of our projects going on and weekends especially will be difficult for time.

Cathy-Great job with Lower/Upper balance discs and Restorative Yoga and STS 2 Mobility 1.

Carolyn-I hope you had a good rest day.

Shannon-Great job with Bodystrikes 3. Those are tough workouts! I tried one once and to be honest, I prefer Cathe's approach to kickboxing but it was definitely very challenging.

Diane Sue-Great job with LMR Upper Body & foam rolling.

Valerie-Great job with the elliptical, therapy work, curls & presses and stretching.

Good morning. I did Jane Adams yoga/mobility for 18 minutes today.

Shannon, great job with Ilaria’s Bodystrikes 3. I watched a lot of previews of her workouts, but never purchased any.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner Step and Strength, CDorner Mobility, and LMR Upper Body and Upper Foam rolling.

Cathy, great job with LMR Lower/Upper Balance discs and Restorative yoga, and STS 2 Mobility 1.

Valerie, great job with 15 minutes on the elliptical, therapy exercises, and presses and curls.

Judy, great job with the 15 minute interval row.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

we were going to ski this morning but it was cold, windy, very windy and gray. not the forecast but whatever. the road had been driven on, so we bagged the idea and came back here. usually there is a berm blocking traffic but it had been plowed away already. leaving in the morning. i did 20 on the elliptical, therapy work, tricep exerises, curls dips.

diane sue can you feed harvey in front of the crate and gradually move his food closer and closer to the door and then inside until he's part way in? ease him in that way? or with treats, same thing?

No workout today. Harvey has a vet appointment for a shot and we may have company tomorrow so I doubt I get a workout in then. I am having my husband go with me as Harvey was not so good at getting in the car. The second time was better when I took him with us to pick up my husband's motor scooter. When I got home he didn't need to be coaxed out of the car which was better than when we brought him from the shelter.

Valerie, I ordered a large metal crate and plan on using food and treats and keep it open at first. I watched some training videos for ways to make feel like it is their special place with nice things in it. Hopefully it works. He loves going outside and lay in the grass. I sure wish our air unit was not in the back yard.
Good job on the 20 minutes elliptical, therapy work, and triceps exercises, curls and dips.

Carolyn, nice work on Jane Adams Yoga.

Judy, good job on the 20 minute row before work.

Cathy, nice work on STS 2 Mobility today.

This morning I did Live Burn and Build Upper Body. Ends with a mini ball abs section. Has a decent variety of moves. Gray and snowing here. But the kind of snow that amounts to nothing and is just annoying if you're driving.

Diane Sue I hope the crate works out well. Our last dog got car sick, so we ended up limited his trips to only the vets.

Valerie safe travels.

Hi Carolyn, Judy and Shannon.

This morning I did LMR Functional Mobility Fusion, cardio bonus and basic mobility timesavers. Cardio Bonus was 20 minutes and 120 calories burned, and Mobility Basics was 18 minutes and 61 calories burned. I don’t care for the mobility combos in this workout, which is why I did the basics timesaver.

Valerie, nice job with the elliptical, therapy exercises, and upper body exercises. I’m sorry that the weather wasn’t right for skiing.

Diane Sue, good luck with training Harvey.

Cathy, great job with Live Burn and Build Upper Body.

Hello to Judy and Shannon.

You would not believe this day and from the looks of it, this week. I'm probably not going to be around much. My work load is a tad over the top at the moment. :p

Today I did a 30-minute Peloton ride, 30 minutes of Peloton Full Body strength and 20 minutes of stretching.

Carolyn-Great job with Jane Adams yoga/mobility and LMR Functional Mobility Fusion, cardio bonus and basic mobility timesavers.

Valerie-Nice job with the elliptical, therapy work and upper body. Hope you have a safe trip.

Diane Sue-I hope the vet visit went well.

Cathy-Nice job with Live Burn and Build Upper Body. The weather was a little depressing today.

Hi to Shannon

Had planned to do a longer leg workout, but was running behind and did Killer Legs Barre. I know that one will leave me with DOMS tomorrow, even though I did extra stretching. My Mom is at her 2 hour dementia testing and the doctor came out after an hour and told my Dad that it was going well and that my Mom loves to talk! No truer words. But, it was amazing that he even got her there because she'd been saying that she would not go, and that they all thought she was nuts. We kept telling her that they just wanted to talk. Hopefully now she believes that.

Judy it's still cold, but the sunshine today is helping!

Today I did X Train Chest, Back, and Shoulders for 52 minutes and 213 calories burned. My average heart rate was 112 and maximum heart rate was 138.

Judy, great job with 30 minutes Peloton ride, 30 minute Peloton Full Body Strength, and 20 minutes of stretching.

Hello to Cathy, Valerie, Diane Sue, and Shannon.

we drove back to WA yesterday. mostly a smooth drive, just long. 11 hours . this morning it was lovely here and warming rapidly so we rode the regular trail, 15 miles about an hour 15 minutes. forgot my watch to time it but we've done it so many times.! early this morning a cougar was spotted on the trail. much of the trail is treed and bushy, some houses, some stretches of forest. its what makes it pleasant, no, being totally open and uninteresting. we didn't see a cougar or anything else. we've seen deer, bears rabbits and a weasel or ermine but its not overrun with wildlife. mostly rural. there's a big river and a few sm,aller creeks where we usually see ducks and in season, salmon . it should be close to 70 today, a huge change. not going to last long and then back to a lot of rain and cooler. possible severe storms tomorrow night.

Live Kick, Jump and Jab and then I did some total body foam rolling. Found spots I did not know where tight. Ouch. My sister sent a message during the night that their neighbors in NC and gone to a shelter. The Table Rock fire is now 5 miles from their home there and they have evacuated the area. Hopefully the fire breaks they are putting in hold. There is so much downed dead wood from Helene in that area, that it's just a really bad situation. I'm heading for my parents later this morning.

Valerie glad you made is back safely and got in a good ride. Enjoy your 70. After tomorrow we're rainy for a bit.

This morning I did Jessica Smith’s 30 Minute Fat Blaster, 30 minutes, 191 calories burned, average heart rate 128, and maximum heart rate 155.

Valerie, I’m glad that you had a good drive home. I’m sure that the 70 degrees feels good.

Cathy, great job with Live Kick, Jump, and Jab and total body foam rolling. The wild fires in NC are terrible. My heart goes out to the people there.

Hello to Judy, Diane Sue, and Shannon.

supposed to be warm today too but not so far. did a park walk this morning for 75 minutes, nice and uncrowded. possible thunderstorms and hail tonight. this is very unusual for here so we are battening things down. will be hard on plants that are just flowering. aftter this storm it get wet and stays wet.

cathy that is so unfortunate. 5 miles is not much for a wildfire especially if there are winds involved.

Yesterday I did a 45-minute Peloton Walk and 10 minutes of Arms & Light Weights. Today I did 20 minutes of Peloton strength and a 15-minute HiiT row.

Cathy-Great job with Killer Legs Barre, Live Kick, Jump and Jab and foam rolling. I hope your sister and her neighbors are doing ok.

Carolyn-Great job with X Train Chest, Back, and Shoulders and Jessica Smith’s 30 Minute Fat Blaster.

Valerie-Great job with your park walk.

Hi to Shannon and Diane Sue

Busy day yesterday. We got our new bed and my grandson came over to help get it put together and in the bedroom. My costochondritis has kicked up again and I was afraid to help with lifting things to get it in the room. I took care of cut up boxes and Styrofoam.
Yesterday I did LMR Functional Lower Body, 58 minutes, 236 calories, heart rate 107/133. I finished with CDorner Mobility skipping the meditation part, 25 minutes 80 calories. Total time 83 minutes, 316 calories.
Today I did CDorner vertical step #454, 45 minutes working around Harvey 45 minutes, heart rate 122/143 heart rate, 242 calories. I also did LMR Pilates Fusion premix that skips the fabric loop lower body stuff, 24 minutes, 65 calories. Total time 69 minutes, 307 calories.
I took Harvey out and had him chasing the ball for a while. Our 52nd anniversary is tomorrow. I doubt we will go out since we still have not received the wire crate to train him with. It would have to be drive through or pick up for food and Harvey go with us.

Shannon, sorry you have so much work ahead of you. I hope it goes well.

Cathy, good job on kick jump and jab live and foam rolling. They have had fires here. So dry outside. One of the guys that works under my husband was devastated as he was building a house and doing a lot of the work himself and had a trailer they were living in with their children. The fire hit their neighbors around them and burned his shed and the house he was building, kids outdoor swing set and stuff. We replaced that for them. It is sad. I hope your mother understands that you were trying to help her.

Carolyn, nice work on Jessica Smith Fat Blaster today.

Valerie, nice work on the park walk today. It was in the 80's today and there is a big drop coming up this weekend into the 30's.

Judy, good work on the 45 minute Peloton Walk and 10 minutes of Arms & Light Weights and I today's 20 minutes of Peloton strength and a 15 minute HiiT row.

we got some lively weather last evening, with lightning and thunder and rain but not as intense as predicted. we were at the furthest north fringe area that was potentially affected. no wind to speak of and interesting rather than destructive. sometimes ( usually) the weather service over predicts events. probably better than under predicting, but it makes one not pay real close attention. how many times can you cry "wolf" and have people still pay atrention?
will do something today but not sure what.

we worry about fires even here. we get a tremendous annual growth of grass and shrubs and summers are usually dry. a lot of trees!. a lot of fuel available if a fire starts. nobody is really without fire risk in the right combination of events.
